I have such mixed feelings when it comes to wlw media. On one hand, it’s often amazing and makes me want to believe in humanity and the power of love the way I did when I was a child.
On the other hand, 90% of the time some homophobic big-shot comes along and cuts it short and/or makes it so the creator has to wait til the last minute to make it canon so it doesn’t get cancelled early.
Or worse yet, wlws are used as a side character who are killed off as a plot device or their entire character is their sexuality and they have no personality otherwise.
I want the media and I will eat up every morsel, but I’ll hold back out of fear of it getting ripped away or ruined and I hate it.
I haven’t read enough wlw to make a long list of extra recs (when I realized I could read wlw I had gotten burnt out on books), but one really good fantasy GL is Of Fire and Stars

Dude, it's camp, it's great. Just like I don't expect The Vampire Diaries to be revolutionary, i keep the same standard for First Kill. Maybe it isn't some cinematic masterpiece, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. I personally think it's a phenomenal show. The queer rep, poc queer rep, is more like an add on benefit. I too would love to see improvement in the future, i always will. But I do expect it to camp, and I do expect it to be phenomenal.
Sure, we should expect quality shows that are cinematic masterpieces and are gay, but a vampire show is not where that's gonna happen, and you're kidding yourself if you think it will be.
Checking all these posts about first kill, and it's making me kinda frustrated.
The bar is low. It's as simple as that. A show should not be renewed because it has a black main character, or because the main relationship is queer. Yes it needs to be good.
I've seen a post or comment here some weeks ago that said, that it doesn't matter it's good or not...and that is sad...everyone is so focused on having representation and a LGBT show and everyone is losing focus...
We should demand quality content! A writer and producer and whatever team should not get praised because they decided to make a show that's diverse in race and sexuality, and then lack in quality of content and acting.
They should work better on quality and a cancel should be the right motivation to work harder on that.
I've seen the show, and as much as the premise is good, the acting in general is cringy and one dimensional at best. I had to pause on the episode where Tess (?) finds her parents dead because of her reaction. Who does that? How is that a show worth going to its second season? And don't come at me with receipts of good acting...even a bad show has it's moments...
I'm sorry some people allowed themselves to be passionate about it....and I'm frustratingly so ready for some quality lesbian show with a good diverse representation, but we can't praise lazy writing and direction. Otherwise they'll just keep feeding us bullshit over and over again. And we will always accept it. No one on their right minds sees acting like , for example in Killing Eve, and can defend this show. There's no way...
Even a 'feel good' show , lighter and teenage oriented can be good. And this isn't it. Honestly the two main girls are being wasted on this show... they're too good for it.
And in the case of the show get renewed, i hope the team behind it sees this struggle as a motivator to do better. I wanna see a season 2 with more quality and feeling.

hi guys i know i don't have many followers on here but i could really use help so i would really appreciate if you guys could share this post when you see it. i've been struggling with homelessness for nearly three years and am finally getting housing soon. i'm set to move on monday the 21st and i have some of the things i need but still have serveral essentials i need. most importantly i need a microwave since my pkace doesn't have one, i need kitchen and cleaning supplies for the house, and bed bug to repellent to make sure i don't bring them with me. the shelter i'm at has bed bugs and i've spent my own money on sprays since they won't do anything, but i'm still finding bites on myself and i'm absolutely terrified of bringing them with me. to be safe i want to get some detection traps, some more repellents, and things like furniture stands.
additionally i could also use a lot of personal items like hygiene products, melatonin for my insomnia, and clothes. i only have a few pairs of pants and some shirts that barely fit me. i could also use socks, undies, and things to help me keep organized like hampers, bins, and a calender. i also really want to get back on adderall and start going to the gym to help myself cope with my depression and adhd, so i would need money for those. and of course there's food and transportation i need to pay for. anything would help.
