Gluten Intolerance - Tumblr Posts
I hate being gluten free due to Celiac diseas so much, because people constantly misunderstand in one of two ways.
Either they misunderstand it as an allergy and act like I'll have an allergic reaction such as anaphylaxis.
Or they think it's completely unimportant and "just a fad."
Anyone else struggle with dietary restrictions for the body?
Because we’re diabetic and can’t have gluten. So we’ve got a lot of dietary restrictions.
It’s difficult to manage, especially when new people come into the front, so we have to be sure that everyone is aware of this. We need to debrief new alters, explaining that they can’t do certain things while fronting such as eat sweets or wheat products.
Thankfully everyone understands. Zach💙 and David💊 are the ones in charge of letting everyone know about the body’s medical stuff.

Us then: Yeah, for some reason we kinda collectively prefer gluten-free crust pizza. It’s just better, Y’know? Yeah. Only when Blue isn’t fronting though. Of course, pizza itself is something we can’t eat. Makes us sick. And we also just prefer gluten-free cookies. No idea why.
Us now: Goddammit it happened again…*
*referring to us showing obvious signs of something that we didn’t realize were obvious signs until we were outright told we had it (diabetes, being a system, and gluten intolerance)

It took me several minutes to realize paid holidays meant you didn’t work, my ass was like I got time and a half for working Christmas and New Years and Memorial Day this year.
I forgot that people can make money without being at work, I got sent home from work yesterday because they couldn’t keep me there after I passed out and I will receive one hour pay because that’s how long I lasted. Please note that I tried to find coverage and couldn’t so I had to go in with one of the worst flare ups I have had in a year. I lost over $100 from my next paycheck and had to go into work despite telling them I couldn’t.
One of the most personal, saddest things about living in America is the summertime.
There is 0 reason for American adults not to have a summer break. I can only say this with a full throat so loud, but other countries have policies and laws that give adults summertime.
It is not a joke to say France is kind of shutdown for August. There are over a dozen countries that have enough mandatory, legally required leave available to take an entire month off, or more. PLUS mandatory PAID holidays.
It's Brazil and Russia (ooh scary BRIC countries outgrowing the US and coming for us). India AND China give up to 2 weeks mandatory vacation leave, plus sick leave on top.
It's Afghanistan (20 days). It's Angola (22). It's Argentina(25) and Armenia (25) and Australia (20). It's Cambodia (technically unlimited; you can eventually get 15 or 17 days per month vacation).
That us on top of mandatory PAID public holidays. Cambodia can somehow manage 27 mandatory paid holidays plus upwards of 18 vacation days per year and going up from there, and we in the US can't even manage mandatory paid holidays.
We don't even get paid on Christmas and Memorial Day. And even trying to convince some people, let alone politicians, that everyone should get paid on Christmas is unfair to compare to pulling teeth.
Please. Please. I want to have a better life. I want you to have a better life.
I want you to not miss Summer Break. Because France and Cambodia don't.
WTF do you know how many gluten-free foods have soy in them. Like little over half, they're taking that much away from people who need to be gluten-free.
MAJOR GLUTEN-FREE FOOD RECALL 5/4/23
There has been a massive (literally millions of pounds) recall on Prosante (owned by Cargill) soy flour used in manufacturing gluten free foods due to the potential to contain more than 20ppm of gluten. This recall affects several countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, and Guatemela.
This recall is relatively new information, and the FDA hasn't listed a press release for this event yet (for now it only shows up on their weekly enforcement report, probably because it was a firm-initiated recall), but if the figures are accurate, this could have far-reaching effects across gluten free food products. A glance at Cargill's website shows this flour is mostly used in meat alternatives, but be wary of products with soy flour included until we know more.
