Go Read A Book - Tumblr Posts
Library Day!
On July 1st, 1731 The Library Company of Philadelphia was founded by Benjamin Franklin and Junto Club members thus creating the first lending library. Franklin’s goal was to bring books and knowledge to those who would otherwise not have access.
“That’s what I love about reading: one tiny thing will interest you in a book, and that tiny thing will lead you to another book, and another bit there will lead you onto a third book. It’s geometrically progressive - all with no end in sight, and for no other reason than sheer enjoyment”
— Mary Ann Shaffer, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.
oh, to be the owner of a small bookshop on a cobblestone street with roses climbing the front of the building, where books are stacked about in piles and there’s always coffee brewing and a sleepy shop dog lifts his head at the sound of the door’s bell and thumps his tail against the hardwood
Have you ever read a book and felt like the characters in it are familiar to you? like you feel as though you’ve known them for a long time and have a connection with them, even though this is the first time you’re reading about them?
chronicles of finishing an entire book in one sitting:
• getting something to drink
• finding the perfect sitting position (preferably one that breaks your spine after 5 hours)
• finding the right way to hold your book
• actually reading
• gasping, wheezing, sobbing, laughing, clenching your fist, furrowing your eyebrows, wiping your tears with your shirt, putting your book down for “a hot minute”
• grabbing your mug and realizing that you’ve finished your drink 4 hours ago
• finishing the book
• staring into the abyss
• what is life
I thought this was great @incorrect-kotlc-quotes hope you are ok with reblogs!
Sophie: Well, you know what they say, when life gives you lemons...
Biana: Put them in a facemask
Dex: Use them in a battery
Keefe: Throw them at people
Tam: Squirt the juice in life's eyes. Steal life's wallet and assume its identity. Now you are life and hold dominion over all. Your enemies cower at your feet.
Sophie: ....make lemonade, guys. The answer was make lemonade.
