Orcrist was the sword-sister Glamdring found by Thorin Lécudechesne in a den of trolls , when shipped with the shipping of Erebor . It was identified by Elrond as an ancient blade of Gondolin , thanks to the runes engraved on the blade. Taken in Thorin by the king of the Elves of the forest, Thranduil , the latter placed it on Thorin's tomb, under the Mountain, and it subsequently shone there at the approach of any enemy. Mordeuse was the name the Orcs gave her because she had wreaked havoc in their ranks during the fall of Gondolin. The handle is made of a dragon tooth . Formerly it belonged to Ecthelion , one of the elves lords of Gondolin.

I headcanon that the lords of Gondolin who were Aredhel's guards (Ecthelion, Glorfindel, Egalmoth) were those who killed Eol in the end. I think it's interesting to explore how this event can be considered as kinslaying and how those who were/weren't involved in the First Kinslaying lived it. Especially Glorfindel who did not take part in the kinslaying and felt much guilt about Aredhel's fate.

I don't think I understand dwarves. I get that Khazad-dûm is their main, greatest and most beautiful city, a cultural treasure, but some pretty terrible things did happened there. And yet all they want is to reclaim it again and actually live there. It's like if elves were trying to restore the ruins of Gondolin (were it possible). "Sure, it was our most beautiful stronghold once, but on the other hand thousands of our people died here horribly... which doesn't give me nightmares at all..." I mean, the dwarves deserve our respect.

Broke: Gondolin was a serious, conservative, prudish city.
Woke: The Gondolindrim were stuck in one city for 400-ish years with no Morgoth threatening them and basically nothing do to. If anyone in Middle-Earth was entertaining themselves with festivals and ragers, it was them. We're talking drunken moshpits, people getting thrown into fountains, endless romantic intrigue between most of the Lords, the whole nine yards.
Bespoke: The Gondolindrim were party animals but they all agreed that what happens in Gondolin stays in Gondolin and never talked about the parties after the fall; which is why Gondolin gets a reputation for being so serious and boring. Most of the Gondolindrim, and especially Turgon, think this is hilarious.
