Hustle Culture - Tumblr Posts
hello i think schools giving students more work during the holidays and having assessments due during the holidays should either be illegal or at least regulated in some way. like i don't think that's ok. that is the student's downtime to take a break from working. that is THEIR free time to relax that schools are taking up with more and more work to do after the term is finished and done. students are already overworked and burnt out as is, and their weekends are already taken up by either more work, jobs or extracurricular stuff. school can be incredibly strenuous on the workload they churn out when the students are actually going to school. a stack of homework can take hours per night, and simple assignments can take weeks to finish. people can't just keep doing that all the time, they need a stress-free break with no obligations to rest their minds. that is the reason the holidays are there. they're not an excuse for schools to cram in more and more work because "they'll have more time", students need a break otherwise their brains are literally going to stop working properly. let them take time off ffs.
(the same goes for teachers. teachers shouldn't be made to constantly work during the holidays, they deserve a break too. everyone deserves a break.)
La Nostra Settimana! (Our Own Week!)
I've been thinking about how soul chipping the normal work week, hustle culture is. In today's life, we only have two days to enjoy life? That's really sad, I think. We all deserve more time to live well. Of course I'm very privileged that I can take breaks and think about these things and if I use that time to imagine a better system, it won't be wasted (I hope). The system needs to be changed for everybody & I feel we do need a new system - so basically I made a new week system for my self. One that allows for more wholeness... its based on the names of the days & the message of the corresponding planets.
Making the day ours is important because only then can we seize it. Making each moment our moment, full of our own joys and worries, that's what makes a life rich, I'm coming to realise. Of course every day I slip up & start wanting instead of being and still it's feeling rewarding & beautiful to me. Take this for instance, returning to tumblr has been such a beautiful experience. The people I get to talk the friends I'm making... they're just so gorgeous in their being. And it wouldn't have been if I wasn't more open to the magic of the day, of the moment. It wouldn't have been if I wasn't more open to my self. This feeling is like a changing puzzle that's already complete and you still have to continue putting it together... I don't know if that makes sense. And yet, I wish everyone to have this feeling.
I've also been learning Italian & I love the word settimana - in latin it roughly means 'in number of seven'. And also, I love that mana is part of the word... because Mana means 'the power of the elemental forces of nature embodied in an object or person' - its a part of the english dictionary & the origin is Hawaiian / Polynesian. This kind of a coincidence is magical to me. Plus how is it that the meaning of the names of the days is the same in Italian & Hindi, Marathi? How did these meanings coincide in latin & sanskrit?! Because this is exactly what the system should be - Our own sort of dedication to the special elemental power of the day we're in. Each person could be encouraged to think of the system as a question, as it relates to themselves. It doesn't escape me that perhaps this actually has been the system all along, it just has been waiting to be realised as a thought in my brain because I've opened up more to the magic of the world. Either way, this is what I've understood so far. Think of it more as a possible conversation between you & the day you're in. So without further ado (Please excuse my over-explanations): Sunday - the sun’s day so we do whatever makes us all feel like we’re shining. It’s the day of performances and watching things and meeting people and loving in general!
Monday - moon’s day. A day of quiet contemplation. We talk about our feelings. We help all students understand how to process emotion. We talk about how to be kind to ourselves.
Tuesday - Mars’ day - a day of action! Start that project! Play a sport! Do the thing basically do what you’d do if your life was a Nike commercial!
Wednesday- Mercury! All about communication, messages! Learn new technology, new languages! Talk to friends, that long distance phone call!
Thursday- Jupiter! Make plans! Think about goals! Think about what you want in life, dream the big dreams and take small steps to make them happen!
Friday - Venus! SOCIALISE! Meet with friends, connect with people! Listen to new ideas and try out different hats!
Saturday- Saturn! Day 2 of quiet contemplation- be alone-ish. Think about what are the problems and how they can become stepping stones. Think about / teach boundaries. Learn more about yourself!
This came about from a conversation with a new friend, @sahmfanficbts who listens to my nerding out so patiently. Thank you!
Conversations are such magical things, imagine you're in a conversation with the stars and the planets. Imagine you're in conversation with life. What will you say?
CHIRON IN CAPRICORN:
HOW IT LOOKS LIKE TODAY
DISCLAIMER: this is a post i made simply based on my own understanding of the topic. it is also based on observations off the internet and my surroundings with a dash of my own personal experiences. i made this post because i thought it would be fun to talk about. therefore, please take this with a grain of salt!
P. S. please do share your opinions on this! i would love to hear different point of views!
Chiron in Capricorn: An Overview
— Capricorn rules success and achievements in general, career success, and the social status a person has achieved in life. People with Chiron in Capricorn often suffer for not achieving the success they believe they deserve.
— People with Chiron in Capricorn often have an enormous ambition to succeed in their career even if it means neglecting everything and everyone else.
— These people seem to put in all their efforts into achieving success and gaining the social status they desire, but others get the rewards, the promotions, the raises, etc. Regardless of how hard they try it seems that it is not enough.

In short, chiron in capricorn is having too much of an unrealistic expectation when it comes to achieving success. Besides that, it is also about having your achievements overlooked.
With this, it brings in the mentality that a person's value is determined by how successful they are.
However, for this post, our main focus will be the teens today. In today's day an age, since those who have chiron in capricorn are born from 2002-2004, success for these people is usually determined by their achievements, numbers, workload, productivity, the responsibility they hold and etc. Social status is more of a reward by how much success they have obtained.
I believe that chiron in capricorn is very well summarised in the song, Brutal by Olivia Rodrigo— more specifically, the chorus.
All I did was try my best
This the kind of thanks I get?
Unrelentlessly upset (ah, ah, ah)
They say these are the golden years
But I wish I could disappear
Ego crush is so severe
God, it's brutal out here
—Brutal, Olivia Rodrigo.
CHIRON IN CAPRICORN: ON THE INTERNET
Chiron in capricorn is expressed through trends on the internet. Hence, the existence of cultures and trends such as:
• Hustle Culture
• Be 'That Girl' trend
• Productivity obsession
All the examples above tends to center around what deems one as successful or admirable to the public eye. It's an opportunity to be recognised by how much hard work you put into yourself.
i. Hustle Culture:
"Recent times have seen a significant rise in this culture of putting work above everything else and putting everything you have into working hard. Known as the hustle culture, this lifestyle teaches people that overworking is the only way to earn respect, whether it be from others or yourself."
Source: The Daily Star
Hustle culture promotes the unhealthy mindset of pursuing in your ambition means neglecting everything and everyone around you. This comes with the belief that everything else that isn't your ambition is a form of distraction.
"this lifestyle teaches people that overworking is the only way to earn respect, whether it be from others or yourself."
(although not everyone born in 2002-2004 participate in the hustle culture, most of them still very much glorify it.)
The hustle culture also fulfills what the chiron in capricorn have always wanted which is to be recognised/appreciated for their hard work whether that comes in a positive or negative light. A positive perspective would be obtaining the respect others have for you and your hard work. A negative one would be assuming others disliking you out of pure jealousy of how much success you have obtain. Either way, you're being recognised for your work.
Thus, this creates the mentality of one's value being determined by their work. One's progress in achieving their ambition is also determined by external measures. An example would be how much time you spent hanging out with your friends/loved ones. The more time you spend with them, the less you are working on your ambition. The less you are working, the less valuable you are.
ii. Be 'That Girl' Trend
For this, I will be taking 2 definition of 'that girl' from different sources.
"The kind of girls that are on social media that have their life together. They are healthy: mentally, physically, and emotionally. They have amazing grades, they eat healthy, they go to the gym, they meditate, manifest, and study like crazy to get good grades. But in an organized way."
Source: Urban Dictionary
"Well, someone who is “that girl” is someone who prioritizes themselves in a good way! Spending time to work on themselves, eating foods that make them feel good, being productive, and working on bettering themselves… That is who “that girl” is. A lot of what is shown to us is all about the aesthetic, and while that’s a massive part of it, becoming “that girl” is more of a mindset than having the picture-perfect life."
Source: The Teen Mag.
In a nutshell, the goal/point/focus of the trend is to motivate others to get their life together.
"People with Chiron in Capricorn often suffer for not achieving the success they believe they deserve."
"No matter how hard these people try, they fail to achieve the social status that you believe they deserve."
Source: Astro Dream Meanings, Astroseek
To be 'that girl', having your life together is the goal which yet again measured by external factors such as your grades, your lifestyle, your productivity and etc. Once again, the mentality that reaching a goal equals to success that is measured by how much work you put out. Unlike the hustle culture, the 'that girl' trend centers around an unrealistic goal of getting your life together by ticking small boxes that are the milestones. When one is not ticking all the boxes 25/8, it is often considered a failure. Therefore, you are not being 'that girl' like you planned to. Hence, no success.
With chiron in capricorn, it's common for one to have difficulty in setting goals and meeting them. This also goes hand in hand with the pressure of expectations whether it's from themselves or others and also being constantly overwhelmed by the feeling of failure when one is not achieving a goal.
'That girl' is a status that chiron in capricorn works to obtain. Thus, they work hard to obtain it by constantly trying to fulfill the requirements of what being that girl means but like we have established before, it's impossible.
With the failure of obtaining the status 'that girl' and maintaining it, it is why in the end, what we often see on the internet is an emphasis on the aesthetic in multiple tiktok videos because at least the public recognise them as 'that girl'.
iii. Productivity Obsession
"If you're productive, that means you do a lot — you create or produce large amounts of something."
Source: www.vocabulary.com
"To be productive is very simple. It means to do things that gets you closer to achieving your goal. You should always have a goal, be it daily or weekly."
Source: Quora
"achieving a significant amount or result."
Source: Google
For this, i tried to find the proper meaning of productive/productivity that fits with what people on the internet today's definition of it but i think productive/productivity is thrown around so much it doesnt really have a proper meaning to it anymore which is the same as what happened to the word gaslight/gaslighting. Therefore, I will be sticking to the quora definition of productive because it seems to sit well with what productive means to a large amount of people today as well as the topic I'm discussing.
The obsession with being productive is really what ties everything together. Since we now spend the majority of our time at home, we get to decide what to do with the time we have. In the context of teens who have chiron in capricorn, it gives them time to finally relax and not always be so overworked to achieve goals.
(im very much aware that everyone struggled with the productivity obsession but im going to focus specifically on the group of people with chiron in capricorn for this!)
Let's take the obsession with productivity during the first wave of the pandemic as an example. Everyone was pressured to make the most out of their time. People were told to have goals to achieve daily for the sake of being 'productive'. Although we no longer dwell so much in this anymore, the obsession with productivity is now being masked under several trends such as the 2 stated before this and many more. This is because chiron in capricorn live off goals, achievements, and success no matter how little recognition they get for the work they put into it (although they would like to be given more recognition than received).
The idea of productivity helps the chiron in capricorn to keep track of the progress they have made although there is no proper goal besides just being productive. Even then, they don't get recognition for it because there isn't an actual award/recognition being given just by being productive regardless how much one is doing in a day. The obsesion with being productive also roots from the fact that one's worth and value is determined by what they do and success.
Personally, this was an interesting phase because it really taught the chiron in capricorn that it's alright to not constantly be 'on the grind' all the time. It also definitely taught them that it's alright to relax and do nothing sometimes.
CHIRON IN CAPRICORN: CONCLUSION
The trends and cultures that are flooding the internet today are most likely a result of chiron in capricorn. This is because those with the placement are now teens taking over the internet, aging from 17-19 years old. It's quite similar during the 2014-2016 era when the glorification/romanticization of overly triggering contents (cue badlands by halsey, crybaby by melanie martinez and electra heart by marina) were everywhere on the internet because the chiron in scorpio were the ones taking over the internet about the same age. Since capricorn is ruled by success and achievements in general, it's no surprise that the trends and cultures glorified on the internet centers around achieving goals and being successful in variety of aspects.
CHIRON IN CAPRICORN: ADVICE
Take some time to figure out what you want/love. Take a break once in a while. Your value is not determined by the work you do or the numbers you see or the awards you get. It is determined by you. Let go of all expectations you have on yourself and from others. It's your life so live it the way you want to. When it comes to working on big projects, understand that it's okay to ask for help. It's fine to need help. "Teamwork makes the dream work". You'll achieve much more when you work in a group. Lastly, enjoy life as it is. Cherish every little moments. Have fun!
— that is all from me! i hope this was an interesting post and you enjoyed reading! i wish nothing but happy days for you! take very good care of yourself and stay safe!
