@discjude Thank you! I'm glad it could turn out to be helpful to you! If you keep track, I'd love to know how many you manage to use—that's a cool idea.

I'm thrilled the Japeth one got to you! (When I came up with his list, I specifically thought: "I wonder if Jude would have anything to say about it?")

Kei is kind of a hard one, to me. Off the top of my head, I'd assign him: turning point, in medias res, and third person limited pov, which is just another way of saying he's a little unknowable, and/or I don't know him well enough as a character aside from the role he played in forwarding the plot. And, I'm referencing his sudden appearance and relevance.

I should have assigned symbolism to someone, so that goes to Sophie, Guinevere, and the Storian.

Arthur (and the kingdom of Camelot itself) get magical realism/fabulism, and haunting the narrative. And a less modern way of defining Lancelot could've been "the vernacular." Also, Merlin gets puns.

And, I came up with overlap for Rhian I and Rhian II: oxymoron, paradox, and passive voice (especially when used to displace blame onto another, or to leave out a designated, clear subject performing the deed).

Latin is a roundabout way of saying: “Rafal is old.”

(In One True King, I'm pretty sure Sophie freaks out and derides him, calling him "Father Evil.")

The more elaborate explanation is that he does not and will never suffer from "belatedness." (Except, in the context of Soman drawing inspiration from elsewhere.)

Rafal is the “first,” in a sense, which lends to him the special, rare advantage of not feeling self-conscious of his work. He was likely the "innovator" of Evil, to an extent, we could speculate, and I doubt he was predated by too many exceptional villains, especially considering how he's held up by those at The Black Rabbit as some kind of exemplar, the Master of Evil, who gets a free pass in on some basis of his actual prodigiousness, something other than his just being a feared authority figure.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but: every other villain or antagonist, major or minor, in the entire series (not counting the Storian) exists after him in time, or exists because of him and the influence he exerts, the hostility he elicits, the violence he incites. He's the proverbial "giant," and others stand on his shoulders.

Here, I briefly trawled the internet:

"Quick Reference. In Harold Bloom's theory of literary history (see anxiety of influence), the predicament of the poet who feels that previous poets have already said all that there is to say, leaving no room for new creativity. From: belatedness in The Oxford Dictionary of Literary Terms » Subjects: Literature."

"Belatedness definition: The state or quality of being belated or of being too late."

In addition, while Latin is mostly a reference to Rafal’s age and his lack of suffering from belatedness, it's also the provenance of lots of words from the English language. (I know the Greeks as epic poets came first, but Latin works better for these comparative purposes.) That's why I tied the concept of the etymological roots of words into his list.

If Rafal were a modern scholar, I'm tempted to say he'd pursue the study of philology because it works well for him, as a symbol:

"A theory of language development which traces the ‘family tree’ of modern natural languages like English, French, and German back to their historical origins. The central point of interest of such research is to show the common ancestry of words dispersed across several languages."

Or the common ancestry of all Evil. Horrible, isn't it?

Plus, we might have a sliver of evidence for this so-called "great inheritance" in Fall. Whatever he said to the demimagus in its language or in the language of sorcery (or if we take into account the spells and incantations of SGE in general) they all seem to be derived from Latin, as is common practice among authors.

Thus, he's old—despite being part of an archetype greater than himself anyway. Because, actually, sorry to break it to you: he’s an “Archimago” figure!

(Well, by my interpretation, at least. And besides that, other literary characters I don't know probably predate Edmund Spenser's Archimago as well.)

Thusly, we have:

Lecherous, Bad "Catholic" Rafal -> Making Good Holy Knights Doubt Their True Love, Truth, and Faith & Posing As An Ancient Hermit Since 1590.

I promise I'm not insane. If anyone would like some reference:

SGE Characters as Literary Things

(Not all of these are actual literary or rhetorical devices; some are just writing techniques, forms, genres, mediums, etc.)

This is a bit abstract, so I’m curious about how subjective these might be. Does anyone agree or disagree? And feel free to make additions if you think I left anything out, or request another character that isn’t here.

Hopefully this makes (intuitive?) sense. As always, I'm willing to explain my thought process behind any of the things I've listed.

Also, anyone can treat this like a “Tag Yourself” meme, if you want. Whose list do you most relate to, use, or encounter?

LANCELOT (I know—how odd that I’m starting with a minor character and not Rafal, but wait. There’s a method to my madness. Also, watch out for overlap!):

Thanks for the additional context! Every time you elaborate this much, the appeal of a Japeth prequel increases in my eyes! That could genuinely have a lot of material to it, for Soman to unpack.

In my opinion, Aladdin somehow was able to have a distinct voice, in his narration, and yet, I have to agree—his "personality" seemed to just revolve around: "get the girl." (After Rise, he follows Kyma and Hook, and the three sail to Neverland, illustrating their end of The Rule of Three with that whole cannibal subplot.)

Is the theory that Rhian II is homophobic? It definitely sounds like that.

"I choose... love." hits hard. And interestingly, to me, it parallels Sophie herself, considering how her verbal manipulation tactics, especially in TLEA with Agatha and the position of queen, often involve reframing things, pitching them in a new light. So, it seems like Japeth did the same, and almost said, "secret third option," which I think is not only sincere of him but clever.

I think Rhian thought Kei betrayed him because Kei let out a secret, or more likely, a rumor, to the public, so he could be the one to break the news/sow doubt in the people's minds (something around Rhian's parentage or Arthur's affair, was it?) to Rhian instead of an enemy, as if being betrayed by a friend would've been any better than being outed by a enemy. Of course, it wasn't a softer blow, being doubted by the only person you thought believed in you from the start, being seen as delusional or unlikely to win in the end. Also, Sophie may've had some involvement, casting Kei in a poorer light, and I think Rhian believed Kei had some romantic involvement with her, viewing it as yet another stab in the back? That's what I vaguely remember, at least.

I am really curious to see your take on Aric and Japeth's relationship. I mean, the beloved author and creator of the series have addressed this issue with 'in their own sick wicked way they had loved' so yeah it's cannon cool. But I feel like the further implications of this? We saw evil 'unable to love'/ 'only ever have true love'. From what I remember Japeth mentioned Aric more than once, how they would write letters to each other how Aric 'begged' for Japeth to come to him but Japeth never did so and then bro spent the last of his life trying to bring Aric back to life. There are so many implications, the dynamics, the context, everything, but I love how you theorise and explore all sorts of ideas so I can't help but wonder how you view all of this :D.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and have a great day/afternoon/evening/night!

Sorry to disappoint, but I should probably start off with the fact that I don't ship Japeth and Aric. While I like Japeth, partly in thanks to @discjude winning me over, and further recognizing the tragedy surrounding him, his relationship to Aric never canonically does him any favors. And, with Aric, I think I'm apathetic enough towards him that I don't actively hate him; I just don't care about him. In truth, if not for Aladdin's pitiful existence actively hammering on my nerves, Aric would probably be my least favorite character.

The first thing I want to address is that Evil being "unable to love" or "only Evers have True Love" is actually false, despite the many times the series puts forth this claim. Yes, we are explicitly told this "fact" in book 1, but the book's point was to subvert/deconstruct the myth.

First, by the end, with her self-sacrifice, Sophie proved Evil's capacity to love, meaning: Evil being unable to love is just a commonly-held belief in the Woods, not the absolute, be-all, end-all truth.

(And the belief could've been perpetuated by "Rafal's"/Rafal's way of running his institution that literally shapes the Wood's perceptions and the future. Alongside this claim about love, consider the existence of the Doom Room, created to punish a singular mutinous class of first-years, based on a now-revised philosophy about Nevers' learning from harsh treatment and (probably) disproportionate retribution that an excessively stubborn dead man already too entrenched in his old ways never had the chance to change because he died—and this is all aside from the fact proven by the display at the very first Circus of Talents, that Rafal's students did indeed learn better when he finally listened to them and mentored them as an equal in their position (as Fala). In addition, the statement: "Nevers learn from deprivation" similarly reveals how the Woods really do generalize about Nevers—until Sophie, the "exception" and iconoclast, comes along.)

Second, Sophie's non-romantic True Love at some point was said to be Agatha, and I think this established fact is consistently maintained throughout the series, even if other elements overshadow it, so not only Evers can have True Love.

My take on Japeth and Aric is that Japeth's love for Aric, however twisted or sincere it was, drove him to become the Snake, follow along with Rhian's Camelot ambitions and initial staging-terrorism-and-hostage-scenarios plot, and commit all his other, duplicitous, villainous acts throughout TCY, later by his own will, which is a motive I find fascinating (and contradictory about the nature of the Woods' Good and Evil souls, whenever Japeth is set next to the rather grey Rhian).

So, while Japeth's devotion to Aric could be viewed as romantic, it's just not appealing to me, personally, due to the relationship's ambiguous one-sidedness in particular. And, I think I once may've read something about Japeth as a Never fighting for True Love (or his perception of "True Love") and Rhian as an Ever fighting for power (the Nevers' ideal fairy-tale ending) being ironic or inverted in some way. That's also some world-building fodder to consider, or even just another point that could overturn the Rules as we know them, yet again. I'm not surprised by that subversion honestly. Japeth is very much like his parents. Nearly every SGE villain Soman has ever written has been motivated by the pursuit of love, or by the overwhelming force of their own (often obsessive) infatuations (with the exception of somewhat flatter, less-developed, secondary villains, like Aric, Vulcan, Marialena, and Peter Pan).

Also, thanks for the compliment!

I don't exactly remember how I reacted, but I remember feeling euphoric about the Rafal prequel, even though I don't think I screamed, or did I? I've forgotten by now. But anyway, it was surreal because I literally never in a million years would've imagined he would be a protagonist! Like, how could a book about him be profitable? (At the time, a decent amount of the fandom seemed to hate him for all of his crimes in the main series.) I must've gasped really loudly (I do that sometimes)—loudly enough that my mother thought something was wrong from another room.

(And then, I had suddenly acquired a new fear, heretofore unknown: what if the new book "mischaracterized" Rafal? I pre-ordered the book, but I put off reading it for months, which probably sounds ridiculous, but no, Rise was overall spectacular in the end. It was only the quasi-Goodness in Fall that irked me a bit because Rafal's actions were inconsistent and often not truly Good, especially when we look at the motives backing them. I was absolutely relieved that he was still greatly flawed and acting like his old self, what some people might call "problematic"/controversial, by the end of Fall. A squeaky-clean record was the last thing I wanted from him. He doesn't deserve a clean slate! For instance, it was a bad move on his part, but I actually liked what went down with the demimagus, Midas, and Rufius.)

Yes! I thought Hook would have a larger role in Fall, for all he did for the plot before. So, I was actually surprised by how he was sidelined.

Is that Theory the "Hook is Aric's father" one?

Poor Japeth... and Kei, now that I think about it. What's the evidence? Something in F+B?

I feel like the Kei/"traitor" thing happened in ACOT, but I'm not sure. Maybe it happened sometime after the "The Garden of Truth and Lies" chapter, iirc, in which Sophie and Rhian stroll the Camelot grounds. (I'm still sort of planning on doing a TCY re-read, but I'm thinking of starting my fic first, and then doing a re-read as a refresher/fact-check, so I can fix things, if I notice anything, about, say, the Bank of Putsi, maybe Kei, the Tournament of Kings, the crystal ball, and the Japethery I've probably forgotten about. Although I've read QFG multiple times and ACOT twice, I've only read OTK once, so it's the one I'm the most foggy on.)

I am really curious to see your take on Aric and Japeth's relationship. it’s like you’re dreaming.

the rain thumps on your window softly. in contrast to the relentless downpour outside, your room emits a cozy glow, linen and warm.

looking down on the man sprawled across your lap, you brush his hair away from his face. he looks peaceful like this. carefree and completely relaxed, a sight of vulnerability. he wouldn’t show this side of him to anyone but you.

you’ve been waiting for this day, haven’t you?

your feather-like touch tickles the apple of his cheeks, stirring him awake.

“‘m sorry, did i wake you?” your smile so bright he squints his eyes to focus on you. you look so pretty and he loves this view. the moon’s light shines on your face, the upturned corner of your mouth and the tip of your nose. you look ethereal.

he shakes his head. “no, ‘s okay. i wasn’t even asleep anyway,” he lies through that sweet smile of his. a rush of memories hit him as he traces each crevice of your face.

he remembers how that exact smile of yours drooped slightly in devastation that day. the day he left you. the exact day of the previous year when you both swore that you would be each other’s. you remember the feeling, like a slap to the face.

so why? why was he back? and why were you so willing to take him back?

a comfortable silence takes over and you move your hand to ruffle his hair. your fingertips caress his messy mop with utmost care, as if he was going to break like glass with the slightest pressure. your fingernails scratch his scalp and he instantly relaxes. well, his arms around your waist don’t.

“we can’t keep doing this, y’know?” you sigh, rubbing his back gently. he could feel his heart weigh down and the fuzzy feeling in his chest ceases. he knows what you mean, but he wishes he doesn’t.

“keep doing what?” his voice is still raspy and tired, like it was every single morning when you woke beside him.

“this. all of this.” he hears his heart crack and he thinks you did too. “it’s wrong,” you add, ignoring how your heart thumps.

“then take me back.” you jump slightly, not expecting how immediate his response was. “if you take me back, everything will be the same again. like this all never happened,” he trailed off.

you know its sincere. you know you missed this, him. you miss his smile, his laugh, his voice. he does too. he knows you miss him, and he misses you as well.

you’re silent, and he hates when you are. he wants to hear your voice.

say something, anything.

the thumping in your heart gets so loud, you can hear it in your ears. your mind goes blank, not knowing which to follow, your heart, or your brain?

because your heart screams yes, but your brain yells no.

it’s like you’re dreaming.

SYP — “girl ur made for me, cuz ur love is all i need” just scenarios <3

GEN. — fluff, crack

WARN. — gn!reader, not proofread

NOTES — yk i love the grumpy x sunshine and polar opposites troupe so why not incorporate some hints of that into this? might make a pt 2..

All I Need

at first glance, not many people would expect either of you to pursue each other.

the way you both handle things are different, reactions and such. and when you think of that, there’s only one situation that comes to mind..

throwing your head back slightly, you laugh at one of his lame jokes. hand in hand, both of you turn the corner, still too invested in your conversation to take in the sight in front if you.

he’s the first one to look, halting his movements as he stays rooted to the ground. you, taking note of his tense form, stop to turn to him. cocking an eyebrow, you nudge him on his shoulder and worryingly ask, “babe? you okay?”

his mouth is agape a bit and his eyes are fixated on whats in front of him. seeing as he’s not gonna answer, you follow his line of sight and gasp slightly.

there in front of both of you stood a couple leaning against a wall, making out. you grimaced slightly, noticing their lust for each other through their eager movements. ‘they kiss like fish..,’ you thought, deadpanning.

you felt a tug on your arm, pulling you back.

“c’mon, let’s go before they see us. they might think we enjoy watching them eat each others’ face,” he whispered, hooking an arm around your waist.

you were about to comply but you thought of something way better than just ignoring it. a mischievous smile creeps its way on your face and he grows concerned, not liking that smug look on your face.

unraveling your arms from his, you gasp exaggeratedly, successfully catching the couples attention. they break away from each other reluctantly and flushed, glaring at you.

“i knew you had somebody else!” you screamed, stomping away and wiping away invisible tears from the corners of your eyes. he trails quickly after you, standing beside you as you both hide behind a wall.

“are you kidding me? ugh!” you hear one of them shuffling, probably walking away from the other one.

“wait, baby! i swear, i have no idea who that was!” the other one pleaded, scrambling after his ‘baby’. his thick accent making it all the more funnier.

you leaned forward, clutching your stomach in laughter. he stared at you in slight disbelief before joining in on your giggling.

All I Need

“what are you doing?”

uh oh, caught in the act.

you turn around, hiding the item behind your back. you grin widely but sheepishly. “what do you mean?” you smile innocently, stuffing the perfume bottle up your shirt.

tilting his head slightly, he raises a brow, skeptical. he walks over to you and hastily snatches the bottle from your hands.

“hey! i wasn’t done with that,” you whined, reaching for it but to no avail. he held it far from your reach, above his head. he tsked.

“i’ll give it back if you tell me what you were doing.”

you sighed, mumbling something so soft it was barely audible. “huh?” he nearly squeaked.

“i wanted to spray my perfume on your clothes so when we go out, people know you’re taken,” you grumbled. “but mostly because people are doing it on tiktok..”

he didn’t stop babying you that whole afternoon. and he posted a tiktok about it. (it went viral)

All I Need

it was a nice noon. the birds were chirping, the grass seemed greener and your boyfriend was throwing a tantrum.

“i don’t wanna!”

“stop acting like a baby. its not that bad.”

“this isn’t fair.”

“what isn’t fair? you lost the bet, you have to do my dare,” you huff victoriously, smirking slightly.

he sighs, knowing there’s no way of convincing you to let him off. “fine, help me find one.”

“gladly,” you chirped, bouncing on the balls of your feet gently. your eyes scanned around the park before locking on someone. “right there,” you whispered, leaning to him and pointing at the person with your lips.

you shoo him to approach the person. he shakes his head and complies, walking backwards to cast you a pouty look to which you rolled your eyes at.

“excuse me?” he asked, approaching said persons line of sight. she smiled at him, waving, “hello! is there anything i can do for you?”

“i just wanted to tell you that your child is the chosen one,” he replied bluntly, pointing at her swollen stomach.

the woman blinked at him.

“child? i’m not pregnant.” she narrowed her eyes at him.

“oh.”

he ran away, dragging you with him before your knees buckled from your wheezing.

Is 1 John 5:20 Indicating A Past Event?

Is 1 John 5:20 Indicating a Past Event?

By Bible Researcher and Author Eli Kittim 🇬🇷 🇺🇸

Inaccurate Bible Translations

It appears that most English translations of 1 John 5:20 say that the Son of God “has come” or “is come” when referring to Jesus Christ. Specifically, they say “that the Son of God has come” (see e.g. NIV, NLT, ESV, BSB, NKJV, NASB, CSB, HCSB, GNT, ISV, LSV, NAB, NET Bible, NRSV, NHEB, WNT, WEB). The rest of the Bible versions use the variant “is come,” which is an archaic form of English. This construction employs the term “come” as an unaccusative intransitive verb. Essentially, to say “that the Son of God is come” (e.g. BLB, KJV, ASV, DRB, YLT) not only implies the state of “having come” but also of “now being here” as well. The meaning of this construction is that “the Son of God” didn't simply come but that he is here right now! As you will see, the “is come” construction is actually closer to the original Greek text than “has come.” The worst Bible version is the AMP which makes explicit and ambitious statements that the Greek text does not make, while also adding foreign elements that are not found in the original. It’s the least faithful English translation. It reads:

And we [have seen and] know [by personal

experience] that the Son of God has

[actually] come [to this world].

Grammatical Parsing & Concordance Studies

In 1 John 5:20, the key word in this sentence is the Greek verb ἥκει (hēkei), which is a present indicative active, 3rd person singular (Strong's 2240: meaning, “to be present”). The term ἥκει is derived from the verb ἥκω, which can mean “to come,” “I am present,” “to be present,” or “will come” (see https://biblehub.com/greek/2240.htm).

biblehub.com
Strong's Greek: 2240. ἥκω (hékó) -- to have come, be present

As a present active indicative verb, ἥκει describes a linear (ongoing) action, as opposed to a punctiliar (complete) action. Thus, ἥκει as a primary tense expresses the present & future times, whereas secondary or historical tenses (aorist, imperfect, pluperfect) express past time. So, present active indicative verbs show that the action happens in the present time. Therefore, the verb ἥκει, in 1 John 5:20, should be understood in the sense of an “ongoing present” action (in a transhistorical sense), otherwise the translation is not entirely accurate but rather misleading for the reader. Moreover, the fact that ἥκει describes an ongoing action in the *present tense* indicates that it should not be read as referring to an event that transpired in the past, during the writing of this letter, but rather to all generations of readers, that is to say, in the temporal context that they find themselves in. In other words, the term ἥκει in 1 John 5:20 should be equally read in the *present tense* whether a person is living in the Middle Ages or in the 21st century. It should not be understood as a completed event that took place in the past.

In cross-reference studies, e.g. in Luke 15:27, notice that ἥκει is translated as “is here” (now)! See the Christian Standard Bible & Holman Christian Standard Bible translations:

Your brother is here, he told him, and your

father has slaughtered the fattened calf

because he has him back safe and sound.

And in John 2:4 ἥκει is rendered as referring to the future: “My hour has not yet come” (οὔπω ἥκει ἡ ὥρα μου).

English Standard Version:

And Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, what does

this have to do with me? My hour has not

yet come.’

Conclusion

As you can see, the translation “has come”——which gives the false impression of an event that happened and was completed in the past——is obviously misleading and not faithful to the original Greek text!

The more I research the Bible, the more evidence I find of corruptions and mistranslations. Similar to the way in which almost all translations of Acts 1:11 wrongly render the Greek term ἐλεύσεται as “come back,” most translations of ἥκει in 1 John 5:20 wrongly render it as “has come.” That’s why I parsed it for you. So that we can analyze the sentence into its various components and thereby define their syntactic roles.

Another key word in 1 John 5:20 is δέδωκεν (dedōken), which is a verb, perfect indicative active, 3rd person singular. It comes from δίδωμι, which means “give.” So, all in all, when you consider the intricate workings of this sentence you will have a better appreciation of the fact that the present active indicative verb ἥκει describes a linear (ongoing) action, as opposed to a punctiliar (complete) action. Here, then, is my rendition of 1 John 5:20 (SBLGNT):

Eli Kittim translation (Formal equivalence):

We know, then, that the son of God comes

and gives to us intelligence so that we

might know the true——and we are in the

true, [if we are] in his son——Jesus Christ.

This is the true God and life eternal.

Bullies Were Never My Kinda Thing

italicized means Japanese

This is based on that one trend from tiktok where the k-drama fmc gets the classic milk dump and the american student puts her hands up making the cafeteria a wwe ring.

the song I listened to: tiktok 1 hour repeat of 'Dumb wit it' aka not my song

my inspo: k-drama bully scene & american student trend

My bike makes a skidding sound as I pull up in front of Karasuno. A new school. First school in Japan, but probably won't be the last... Not with my track record.

I park my bike and lock it to the bike rack. I walk in, my shirt untucked, and drinking from a juice box. My bag is hanging off one shoulder, and full of study materials I probably will forget about in a week.

I find a bench and set my bag down, trying to find my schedule. As I'm digging through it, I feel a body bump into my butt. I whip around, ready to smack a bitch, only to find a girl. Shorter and a little thinner than me, but definitely needs a shove from the right person to get her to move. I catch her by the shoulders. "You good?" I ask her in English, forgetting that not everyone knows English- shit.. um.. "元気ですか?" (Genki desu ka?) I stutter, trying to find the right words for the context of the situation.

"Ah! You don't have to use Japanese!" She waves her hand and smiles.

I sigh in relief. "Thank god. Okay. You good? Any bumps or bruises?"

"Oh, no! Himari just bumped into me! No problem." The girl waves her hands around, looking like she's trying to dust something off.

"Okay... just... watch yourself, hun." I let go of her after making sure she is stabilized. I turn back around and look for my schedule. I finally find it and look for my first period.

As I walk over to my homeroom, I enter and see an empty seat next to the girl who I caught. I cock an eyebrow and look around for a different seat. Of course, she just happens to see me.

"Hey! Come here!" She waves me down. I sigh and walk over.

As I walk over, another girl comes over and bumps into me. I shrug it off, but a voice cut through the peace that was my mind.

"Aren't you going to apologize?"

I whip around. It's another chick. "Got a pro- um..." I rack my brain for the equivalent of my question, but shrug and walk to the girl who waved me down. "You are seriously going to sit by Yachi?"

"Yeah, I am. Do you have a problem with it?" I turn around and stare who I assume to be Himari.

Himari freezes up, catching my eyes.

"I said, do you have a problem with that?"

"N-no." Himari scoffs, flouncing her hair and her posse follows after her.

"You-you didn't have to do that!" Yachi blanches white in the face, waving her hands around like a mad woman.

"Nah, no problem, hun. Besides...

Bullies were never my kinda thing." ______________________________________________________________

I now walk Yachi to class every day to make sure Himari doesn't push her around.

That doesn't mean I can be there all the time.

"I noticed Himari seems more... confident, nowadays." I raise an eyebrow at Yachi, seeing her face flush.

"Well... she knows my routine... she's also in the Photography Club." Yachi rubs her arms; her English way better than it was at the beginning of the year.

"That's what I thought." I frown, my nose flaring slightly. "I'm gonna beat a bitch..." I mutter, fire rising in my chest.

"Y/N! You can't do that! It's against the rules!" Yachi tugs at the cardigan tied around my waist.

"I know. Doesn't mean I can't wait for the perfect moment." An evil smile crosses my face with a laugh taking over my body.

"Y/N! Calm down! You're going to attract attention!" Yachi grabs at my short sleeve this time.

"Everything will be okay, hun. I've got it under control." I smile at Yachi, trying to keep her spirits up.

"O-ok!" Yachi smiles, walking to homeroom now.

---------- After homeroom, during a break -------------

"Hey, Himari! I need some help with something!" I call for the bitch while Yachi is looking at another club or something.

The girl smirks and walks over, sitting on the desk.

"Hey, new girl. What do you need help with?" Himari smirks, flicking her hair again.

I smile all nice and pretty and lean close to her, like I'm going to point something out to her. Instead... she's going to know not to pick on Yachi again.

"If you ever push Yachi around again, I will personally make sure to make whatever area we are in a WWE match that you will be guaranteed to lose... got it?" I smirk, waiting for her response. I can feel her cold sweats radiating from her neck as I smile behind the big textbook.

"Whatever, new girl." Himari tries to leave, but my hand clamps on her shoulder.

"My name is Y/N... and you should do good to remember it." I smile all pretty to really send the message home.

Himari scoffs and walks off in perfect timing with Yachi coming inside.

"Hey, Y/N! I found another club! It's for the boys volleyball team. I'm going to be like a... 'mini-manager', as you would call it."

"Sounds perfect for you, Yachi. Are you sure about this?" I know she gets nervous around new people.

"Su-sure! I met their 'main manager', Kiyoko. She seems nice." Yachi smiles and gets more comfortable talking about the club.

"Okay. But I'm coming with you. No one is allowed to mess with you."

"O-okay!" Yachi stammers, getting into her seat for our class.

______________________________________________________________

"Hey, guys. I remember you talking about how the team would need a new manager, so... Meet your new manager." Kiyoko introduces Yachi.

I stand off to the side, ready to throw hands if need be.

"YOU'RE SO CUTE!!!" Two boys jump at Yachi, and Kiyoko and I hold them back.

"Hands off!" I shout at the two loud boys.

"Huh?" They look up at me. I cross my arms and stand protectively in front of Yachi.

"You're pretty too!" My eye twitches. 'Did those two idiots think I was jealous of Yachi?'

"Not what I was here for, but okay." I shrug and take up my post beside Yachi again.

"You're the new American transfer, huh?" The tall blonde asked rhetorically.

"The one and only, beanpole." I stay indifferent. This is no different than American schools.

Minus the fact that there is less school shootings and fist fights...

So a little boring, but it's fine.

"So why do you use Japanese, if pretty much everyone knows English?" A little carrot sprout asks me.

I smirk and look him up and down. "Because people get weirded out if you don't know their culture or language, sweetheart. Especially when it's only one person in a school of hundreds."

"Well, everyone has noticed how Blondie here has a bodyguard after a few run-ins with Himari. That's you then." Tsukishima attempts to get under my skin.

"What can I say?

Bullies were never my kind of thing."

_____________________________________________________________

I noticed how Yachi is being a recluse again, a tell-tale sign of Himari bullying her again.

I sigh and continue trudging on. I'm just kinda hoping that Yachi stands up for herself now.

As we go into homeroom, Himari shoulder-checks Yachi as she walks to her seat.

I sigh and shoulder-check Himari back, giving her a tired look and shaking my head. "Don't start that shit today, Himari. I'm too tired for this crap."

Himari just giggles and sits down. I sigh and roll my shoulders, sitting down. I pull out my materials for class and do the work.

--------- After classes, now lunch time ----------

"Hey, Yachi? I'm gonna go get some lunch. Be right back." I wink and send her a finger gun.

I walk to a vending machine and grab a drink for my lunch.

"Hey! Y/N-san!" Hinata shouted in the halls, running at me.

"Ahhhh!" I wait for impact of a short carrot sprout, but none comes. I let out a breath of relief.

"What do you need, Carrot?" I ask Hinata, walking back to my classroom.

"I need help with tutoring, and I know you and Yachi share a class, so I was hoping you could help me?" Hinata asks me.

"Um... Why don't you ask Tsukishima? He's a pretty smart guy too." I shrug and walk on.

"Tsukishima is rude, and while his methods of studying works... Hinata can't handle the pressure." Kageyama joins us as we pass a milk vending machine.

I shrug, "Makes sense. Mine's not any better. I just use a different method, but sure. Whatever you guys want."

"Awesome!" Hinata jumps in the air.

"So I need help with math and English class. I'm pretty sure Kageyama needs help with everything-" Hinata is quieted by Kageyama who is slapping the back of his head.

"Boke, Hinata, BOKE! I don't need help with anything!" Kageyama pouts and shakes his fist angrily.

"But didn't you fail your English test? And your formal Japanese tests? And your..." Hinata's words are drowned out by the scene that plays out in front of me.

Himari is laughing... and pouring milk on Yachi's lap.

Instantly, my body locks up, all of my muscles tensing. I don't even hear my bag dropping.

"Um... Y/N-san?" Hinata's voice sounds as if it's far away.

"I'll be right back, Hinata." I say as I walk over to Himari, putting my hair up, eyes wide and tunnel vision on Himari.

"Oh no..." Kageyama says as Tsukishima passes the classroom with Yamaguchi.

"What are you saying 'oh no' for King? Did someone steal your milk?-" Tsukishima is cut off seeing Y/N tap Himari's shoulder. He immediately pulls out his phone and starts recording.

Himari turns around and is immediately met with a fist to the face. Himari falls to the ground, her hair whipping around and almost catching on Y/N. Y/N grabs Himari before she can fall and lands another five-fingered punch, letting her fall this time.

"Come on, bitch! I know you can understand me because you reacted when I talked in English!" Y/N lands a hit on Himari's stomach, causing the bully to keel over.

"I thought you said you were the baddest bitch in the school! Or did I hear wrong?!" Y/N hits Himari with a right-handed uppercut followed by a left-handed punch directly on her cheek.

By then, Himari is so pissed. All of her friends back off and cringe.

"You'll pay... you illiterate American cunt." Himari quietly talks, throwing a weak-ass punch.

Y/N blocks the feeble punch, not even bothering to hit again. "I serve cunt, you repugnant skid mark."

Y/N, after not having anything fun to do around the school, finally grins. She has been waiting for this moment.

The moment her rage can be unleashed.

She held nothing back. She hit left and right, left and right, left and right... again and again... and again.

Himari was helpless against the rage of an American teen.

As Himari lays helplessly at Y/N's feet.

"So who's next?" Y/N looks around the classroom, a dark grin appearing on her face. Nobody dares to face her.

Y/N takes a deep breath, "Come on, Yachi. Lets get you cleaned up." Y/N leads Yachi out of the classroom.

"I want that footage, Tsukishima!" Y/N shouts at the tall boy.

The other boys just walk out of the classroom, scarred.

"I'm gonna tell Tanaka-senpai." Hinata bolts down the hall, going to his own class.

Kageyama goes to his classroom, knowing he will probably hear about it later at volleyball practice.

Yamaguchi and Tsukishima go to their respective classes, knowing they will see Y/N there later.

"Y/N-san! Why would you do that?! You're gonna get in trouble!" Yachi exclaims from her side of the bathroom.

Y/N sighs, expecting this. "What can I say, sweetheart?

Bullies were never my kinda thing."
