“You know my brother’s gonna flip, right?” Wil said as he entered the hospital room seeing Y/n there wasn’t to much of an unusual sight. But she was there a lot less often then his own brother. He knew Jay would flip out once he heard she was here for any reason. So would her brother.
“Yeah, so is mine.” Y/n let out an unamused laugh.
“Your gonna have 2 men to deal with. Sucks to be you.” Will smirked teasing her.
“Jackass.” she responded and they both broke out into laughter. It was nice to be good friends with her boyfriend's brother. The two ended up getting to joke around a bit longer before the door to the room opened. Upon seeing who had opened the door, Will took that as his queue to leave.
“What were you thinking?!” Jay yelled as he entered the room, Kelly following not far behind.
“I’m guessing you told him what happened?” Y/n asked tilting her head to the side looking at her brother.
Kelly shrugged his shoulders. “He was gonna find out sooner or later.”
“Why would you risk your life like that?” Jay scolded her crossing his arms over his chest.
“Hey-” Kelly raised his voice cutting Jay off before he could scold his sister anymore for doing her job. “As much as I hate it to Halstead. She saved a young girl’s life, and your one to talk about life risking stuff.”
It was silent for a few minutes but Jay did stop. He couldn’t argue he got hurt way more than Y/n did. She did save a life.
“Hey Kelly, can you give us a minute?” Y/n aksed licking her dry lips.
“Yeah, Y/n/n.” Kelly nodded, he understood there was a conversation that needed to be had between the couple. “I’ll go get you a drink, okay?”
“Hmmmhmmm, thanks.” Y/n smiled gratefully to her brother.
“y/n-” Jay went to start after Kelly left the room but Y/n cut him off.
“No, Jay. I watch you get shot and beat up all the time. More than I and I’m sure Will would like. This.” Y/n gestured with her hands across her body. “This is nothing. Hell, I even get to be discharged tonight and back to work next shift.”
Jay listened till she was done. He knew he overreacted but it scared him that he could have lost her in the blink of an eye. “I know, I know. I just don’t like seeing you hurt.”
“I don’t like seeing you hurt but that’s practically a weekly thing.” Y/n stated, she understood Jay’s feelings completely. But it doesn’t change the facts. They have dangerous jobs getting hurt happens. Y/n let out a sigh looking down at her hands in her lap as Jay moved to sit in the chair next to her hospital bed. “I saved a young girl's life. I don’t regret it. I know you love what you do and I support it but…”
“I can’t be a Hippocratic?” Jay finished smiling at her.
“No offense.” Y/n dropped her head to the side smiling back at him.
“None taken.” he shook his head, dismissing the form of apologies. “I’m sorry I got mad at you. I just worry about you.”
Y/n reached out, grabbing his hand and intertwining their fingers together. “An I appreciate it. But we both have dangerous jobs. I promise if it was something serious-”
Jay nodded in understanding. “I know. Me too.”
“Is it safe?”Kelly asked as he popped his head through the door after opening it. He could tell by the lifted mood in the room that they had worked out their little issue.
“Yeah, it’s safe. You know Kel I find it off-ly convent that you decide to happily fill in Jay when I happen to be hurt.” Y/n smirked at her older brother.
“More people to watch over you the better.” Kelly shrugged his shoulder smiling guiltily. Jay couldn’t agree with the lieutenant more.

“Hey. How’s Katie?” Y/n asked as she heard Kelly enter their apartment. She had been on shift and got called to an emergency and couldn’t go with him to see her. Katie and Y/n had become close fast so she was very worried about the young girl.
“Not good.” Kelly said as he went to the fridge to get a beer.
“Has she said anything about what he might have done to her?” Y/n questioned as Kelly sat at the breakfast bar across from her.
“Not to me. But she was bruised up pretty badly and-” Kelly shook his head but the move he went on and the fact he was taking a breather before continuing had Y/n worried. “Y/n/n, we found her on a mattress and she talked to Erin alone.”
Y/n grimaced, it was obvious to her about what probably happened to the girl and Y/n felt for her. She moved over to the other side of the kitchen to be closer to Kelly. “kelly, I hate to say it but I think we both know what happened.”
Kelly let out a shaky breath hanging his head down. He felt like he had failed his little sister, and if he could fail her he could fail in protecting Y/n as well. “What do I do?”
Y/n placed her left hand on his back rubbing up and down to provide him with some form of comfort, while she went to hold his hand with her right. “Whatever you feel is right. I’ll stand by you no matter what you chose to do.”
Kelly lifted his head and turned his head to look at her. He couldn’t help but smile and squeeze her hand in reassurance. “I’m really grateful to have you. In my life, here with me.”
Y/n smiled at him leaning in to kiss his forehead. “I’ll always be here for you, Kelly. Promise.”

“I can’t wait to get this baby out.” Y/n said as she walked over to sit on the couch from the kitchen. It was nice to have her husband and their bestfriend home after a long week.
“You done y/n/n?” Kelly asked amused at his pregnant friend. He did feel bad for her, the pregnancy hadn’t been an easy one.
“Yes, Severide. I am.” Y/n narrowed her eyes playfully at the salt n pepper haired man sitting across from her.
“Are you still coming over to help set up the nursery after shift tuesday?” Matt asked coming into the living room, handing Severide a beer before sitting down next to y/n.
“Yeah. of course I want to help set up my nephew or . . . Niece’s room.” Kelly smiled, hinting obviously at the certain information he has yet to be told. Kelly has been the most excited besides Y/n and Matt for the baby to come and he’s been trying to get the gender out of them since he knew the couple found out.
Y/n laughed at his antics, before turning her head to face Matt. “Come on Matt, I think he deserves to know. He is an uncle and Godfather right.”
Matt smiled nodding, giddy about finally letting his best friend know the gender of his baby. “Okay, okay. Let me go get the thing.”
“Thing?” he asked with confusion all over his face as he looked at Y/n since Matt left the room.
“Yes, thing. We planned a way to tell you.” Y/n smiled, also excited for Kelly to know the gender of their baby. Matt and her both knew Kelly was going to be very included in their child's life.
Matt came back into the room with a small gift bag with tissue paper coming out the top. Once he handed Kelly the bag he sat back down next to his wife, both smiling at the Squad Captain as he stared at the bag in his hands. “Go on, open it.”
With the encouragement Kelly did as told excitedly digging into the bag. “No!” he looked up towards the couple across from him with pure excitement lit up in his eyes. “Are you kidding?!”
Y/n nodded with watery eyes, loving his reaction. “We’re having a baby girl.”
The rest of the night was filled with so much happiness from all 3 of them. And Kelly knew Stella was gonna be so pissed she didn’t end up coming that night.

Keep you close

Prompt: Tugging at the other's clothes to keep them close
Pairing: Kelly Severide x reader
Genre: fluff
Word Count: 1.2k
You'd always had the awful habit of wandering off. As a kid you had been an absolute nightmare for your parents, silent footsteps trotting away at the smallest of things. A shirt you saw across the store, a street performer, or a cat in an alleyway. You were excitable with a short attention span and far too adept at unintentional escapes and as such had caused premature greying in your mother's hair.
As you grew older you'd managed to calm down some, you were still prone to wandering off with no warning, but you no longer straight up disappeared to chase a butterfly.
In fact, many of your now friends hadn't picked up on your habits due to how switched on you were at work. Paramedicine had no place for a lack of focus, and whenever you did wander it was for the job.
The habit had only really started to show its self when you frequented Molly’s. You fluttered between groups like a butterfly on crack, the overheard snippets of more interesting conversations sometime leading you to leave a conversation midway through. You didn’t intend to be rude but it was hard to keep talking to Cap when Otis was starting a debate on aliens.
Alcohol tended to only exacerbate your condition. Though the running away become purposeful instead of accidental. You had pulled a runner quite a few times before your friends learned to guard the door from your menacing ways. Apparently running away while drunk was a common enough phenomenon for many people so your actions weren’t overly questioned.
To almost everyone’s surprise, it is Severide that becomes your keeper 9 times out of 10. Always appearing just as you had stood to dash away and tugging at your clothes to force you back into a seat. He becomes so adept at the motion that most times you don’t even get to stand before one of his hands is lashing out to latch onto your shirt.
The first time it happens on shift you don’t think much of it, chalking it up to him protecting you from an aggressive patient. The second time it happens you are slightly mystified, glancing back at him for an explanation. All you get is a nod towards the encroaching crowd that is starting to crowd around your patients. You aren’t too happy, but still let it slide, a small part of you giddy that Kelly cared enough to stop you from being overwhelmed. The third time however, gives you pause, and even the squad members that had witnessed the interaction seemed shocked.
You had been walking past the table where squad 3 was engrossed in what seemed like a heated game of scrabble when Kelly’s hand had shot out to grab you. He had played it off as needing an objective judge to veto certain words. That would have been fine, except that his hand had remained clenched around your shirt well after he should have let go.
From there it becomes near constant, you always sit next to him for lunch now, his grabby hands not allowing you to wander far. Most times it doesn’t even seem like he realises what he’s doing, nor does he notice the perplexed looks the members of firehouse 51 shoot him at every confirmed instance. Eventually the tugged clothes evolves into, wrists and hands wherever possible and you can’t help but to feel you are dreaming everytime it happens.
It becomes somewhat of a game amongst you and your family, to see how long it takes upon you entering a room for Kelly to grab you. Or if you can ever manage to sneak past him without being thwarted. Nobody ever says anything directly to him though, your glares enough to warn them away. Because as much as you were confused, you found the whole thing incredibly cute. Especially when his hand moved like it had a mind of its own, reaching out to grab one of your own even if his eyes didn’t leave whatever he was focused on.
In a rare turn of events, it is a sober you escorting a slightly tipsy but still aware Kelly back home, fingers entwined from where he’d grabbed to pull you along. Looking down at how perfectly your hands seem to fit together you can’t stop yourself from asking anymore,
“Kelly, why are you always grabbing me? It’s not like I’m going to run away at work.” He stops at your words, turning to look at you with what you think is incredulity.
“I thought it was obvious” he replied, before leaning in with a flirty grin, “I just like having you close by, getting to hold your hand is just a bonus.”
Your heart stutters at the confession paired with the warmth that encompasses Kelly’s eyes when he looks at you. Your mouth moves before you can stop it,
“I’m going to kiss you now” your voice sounds foreign to your ears, as if you are underwater and you almost don’t realise you’ve said it. That is until Kelly positively beams in reply, leaning even closer to you as you throw caution to the wind and close the gap. The hand that isn’t wrapped in his comes up to the back of his neck, lightly hold him against you as you smile dumbly into the kiss.
Neither of you really discuss what the kids means for the future, but neither do you let go of each other. Not even when Kelly throws you the keys to his car, and not when he tugs your head down to lie against his chest, your hand clenched around his shirt as you sleep. The two of you continue like that as you find your groove, only Kelly is no longer the only one with a desire to keep someone close. Tugging against his short collar to demand kisses quickly becomes one of your favourite activities.
Otis and Cruz are the first to lay witness upon you tugging at the back of Kelly’s shirt as he tries to walk past where you are sat on the couch. The two stare with open mouths when the lieutenant actually does stop like nothing is wrong with the situation. Rushing over to demand an explanation when Kelly eventually takes his leave.
“I just like having him close” you shrug with an innocent smile, before standing and making your way to the chiefs office. A journey which you is quickly joined by said lieutenant, the slight tug on your shirt sleeve announcing his presence as the two of you enter the chief’s office. Boden took one look at the close proximity and matching grins and simply sighed, handing over what looked to be pre-prepared forms for HR.
The cat is very quickly let out of the bag to your friends when Kelly tugs you into his lap for all to see and you make no effort to escape, settling contently into him. An action that is almost immediately banned within the firehouse. Molly’s remains free game though, no matter how much Otis complains at the blatant affection.

I love these two morons so much

*not my gif*

You opened the house door with a loud bang scaring Matt that was focused on drinking his coffee.
He wasn’t a morning person unlike what everyone else thought, he needed his morning coffee like he needed air and he needed to drink it in total silence, not even a “Good morning” before his coffee. But today you didn’t care.
“Hmmm what got you so happy this morning, it’s like 7 am. Where were you” Matt eyed you suspiciously
“There was mail” - you smile while showing the mail - “guess who is a licensed paramedic?”
You grinned proudly; Matt looked perplexed for a second, sign that he hadn’t had the right amount of coffee yet.
“Wait you got your license? Oh my god, Y/N I’m so proud of you. I knew you could do it”
He hugged you so tightly you almost couldn’t breathe, his hugs had always been so warm. One thing was sure Matthew Casey gave the best hugs in the world.
“Did they assign you yet? Because we don’t have a permanent one since Foster left. I could speak to Boden, I’m sure-“
“Matt, they gave me 51 already, but” -you knew he was going to be excited, he had wanted you at his house since you told him you wanted to get certified. You weren’t so sure on the other hand
“This is going to be amazing, everyone is going to love you, I’m sure”- he was so happy and you didn’t want to spoil it for him, you really didn’t but...
“Matt I don’t think this is a good idea”- you said while nail biting. There you go.... he wasn’t smiling anymore and you hated yourself for it.
“Why not? It’ll be amazing, I’ll be able to see you more this way, if you go to work in another house we won’t get that much time together”
He wanted you to change your mind, you knew this conversation was going to happen as soon as you saw what firehouse they gave you.
“Working together... Matt I don’t know, people will think I got the spot at 51 because of you. And beside... you’ll be my captain, wouldn’t it be weird”
The one thing you were sure was that you couldn’t lose Matt. The mere idea terrified you.
“Then we don’t tell anyone, I can even pretend I don’t know you if you want”
He was so adamant to have you there and you didn’t think you could have said no for much longer.
“Really?”- you said while smiling at him.
“Of course, whatever you need”- Matt stroke your cheek before wrapping his arms around you.
This was where you felt safe: in Matt’s arms, while he kissed your head... this was your safe space.
Your life has never been easy and then you met Matt Casey.
He had never asked you for anything, always ready to help you, to give you whatever you need.
And you knew that his insistence to have you at his firehouse was not only because 51 was the best, but also because 51 was his house and he would have been able to make sure you were safe.
He had never asked you for anything but he was asking for this now. So you couldn’t say no.
“Ok then Captain Casey”
His smile was like sunshine
“Welcome to 51 Y/N Morgan... let’s go to work then?”
“Separately...” you warn him
“That’s not very environment friendly” he smirked knowing he got you, even before your answer.
“Fine... but you leave me a few blocks away”
“Deal!”
You were so scared but you couldn’t wait to go to work at the same time.

While walking the few blocks from the firehouse, you couldn’t stop thinking about your first day: how was your first call going to be? Would you be up to it? You didn’t want to disappoint anyone and in particular you didn’t want to disappoint Matt. would everyone really welcome you with open armed?
No one knew you existed; you had never met them and this had been the reason of one of the few fights you’ve had with Matt: he wanted you to meet his friends, they were basically his family but you had never said yes. It wasn’t that you didn’t want to, you were scared, scared they wouldn’t like you, scared that would ruin your relationship with Matt. You didn’t make friends easily, you were shy and needed a lot of time before opening up and people didn’t want to waste a lot of their time with you usually. So you said no.
Because you knew that if things didn’t go well with Casey’s friends it would come a time for Matt to choose and you knew he wouldn’t choose you. Nobody ever did.

You were at the firehouse and you couldn’t make yourself go in.
Did you make the right choice? Yo could still go back, tell the chief you weren’t feeling well and choose another house, a house that didn’t have the potential to destroy the relationship with the only persone that was still in your corner.
You were ready to leave when someone stopped you.
“You must be the new paramedic”- said a blonde girl, while smiling. She seemed nice.
“Yeah that’s me. I’m Y/N Morgan”
“I’m Sylvie Brett, I’m with you on ambo. Come, I’ll introduce you to everyone else”
You followed her into the firehouse, your heart was in your mouth and all you could think about was making sure to avoid an anxiety attack. That would make a good first impression for sure.
“Guys this is our new paramedic, Y/N Morgan. Y/N this is everyone”- Sylvie said once in the common room.
“Hi everyone”- you felt like a kid during the first day of school.
“Y/N welcome to 51, I’m Chief Boden”- a tall man told you and you could have guessed he was the chief even if he hadn’t tell you, you could feel a sense of power and confidence coming off him -“I’m glad you choose our firehouse. This is my Captain Matt Casey and my two lieutenants Kelly Severide and Christopher Hermann; whatever you need let us know”
“Thank you chief”- you could feel a lot of eyes on you but only a pair of green one felt like they were burning you.
You look at lieutenant Severide for a second and he literally took your breath away: beautiful was the only word that could describe him. You decided not to linger on that thought, you knew you couldn’t.
You were ready to talk when...
-Ambulance 61 person I distress 703 Throop Street-
“Well it’s an early day I guess”- Sylvie said.
“Good luck”- told you Matt, you smiled, put your bag down and followed Brett, ‘an early day indeed’
“Ok, I know first days can be hard, so try to breath and I’m sure you’re gonna be amazing”- she was so nice you wanted to cry.
“Let’s hope so”- you took a deep breath and got out of the ambulance
“Hey over here”- a women called you
You followed her to the house where there was a little girl on the couch crying in pain.
“She’s throw up everything she ate and now she is lying over there”- said the mother
“Hey Kailey”- sai Brett before starting to look at the kid-“How long has she been like this?”- she asked
“A while”- answered the father
Sylvie looked at you -“Pupils are dilated, this isn’t a stomach each, she’s high”
“What type of candy did she eat?”- you asked, hoping Brett wouldn’t get mad you had spoken up
“I don’t know, regular stuff? Gummy bears, M&M”- it was clear the mother didn’t believe you
“She must have gotten into my stash “”- said the father
The girl cried in pain - “She’s seizing, drop one milligram of Versed”- told you Brett while the parents kept fighting
“One milligram of Versed”- you said before going near the kid
“Do you want me to do it?”- asked Brett
“No I can do it, hold her tightly “- you said while giving the dose

“So, how was our new recruit’s first call?”- asked Matt as soon as you and Brett were back at the firehouse
“It was ok”- you shrugged your shoulders avoiding Matt’s eyes
“She did good”- Sylvie said smiling
“I didn’t do much”
“I have ridden with paramedic that didn’t even know which one was the Versed believe me you did good”
“Thank you”- you could see Matt smiling out of the corner of your eye
“Beside we stopped at the grocery store before coming back, someone is cooking for us” - Sylvie squeezed your shoulder before going into the firehouse.
“So everything went ok?”-Matt asked once Sylvie was gone
“For now. Sylvie is nice”
“Yeah she is”- Matt smiled and you smirked
“Help me get the grocery inside?”- you asked
“Sure, what are you making?”
“Well now why should I tell you?”
“Because you love me”- he said
“Meh, I wouldn’t be so sure”- you said laughing
“You’re so mean, I’ll remember this when-“
“Do you need help”- someone interrupted Matt
Lieutenant Severide was a few steps behind you two, his hands in his squad jacket, shoulder resting on the truck. You didn’t know if he heard you and Matt and you weren’t even sure how to feel if he did. You knew he was Matt’s best friend, Matt talked a lot about him and you knew he was the one Matt had the most trouble keeping secrets from.
“Lieutenant”- you said smiling and you were sure your cheeks were red. Great!
“No formalities, you can call me Severide”- fuck if he didn’t have a great smile too... you were in so much trouble
Forgive me if there are mistakes, English is not my first language and I didn’t have the time to edit this for now but I wanted to post it and give it a shot.
Then I met you- Part 2
Summery: your life has never been easy and then you met him
Pairing: Kelly Severide x Reader / Matt Casey & Reader
Matt was once again trying to convince you to go to Molly with him. You hadn’t spent much time with the guys after work, and people were starting to wonder why.
It was just so hard to pretend not to know Matt at work and you didn’t want to do the same in your free time.
“I’m just saying, it’s been a month. Everyone can see you are made for the job, why can’t we just tell the truth? So you can come to Molly with me and everyone is happy”- he said
“I just need more time. I don’t want to lie either Matt, but every time it doesn’t go well. Remember Gabby?”- you knew it was a touchy subject but you wanted to bring the point home.
“She liked you”- you couldn’t convince him otherwise, but you knew she didn’t.
“Sure”- you rolled your eyes- “listen I’m gonna go and have a shower. You don’t have to stay at home with me Matt, please go to Molly. Spend some time with your friends.”
“They’re your friends too”
You wanted it to be true but you knew people at 51 hadn’t a clear idea of you yet. The jury was still out and you knew it was mostly your own fault. You needed time to open up, to feel comfortable with new people and not everyone liked to wait.
“No they are not Matt”
“They could be”- he wanted you to become part of the family so much.
“Go to Molly and have fun”- you screamed while going to the bathroom to start your much needed shower

You got out of the shower, put a towel on and went out of the bathroom.
You noticed the light of the kitchen was still on, Matt had decided to stay in after all. That guy... always sacrificing himself for others, it was clear he wanted to go to Molly but he didn’t want to leave you alone.
You had never been lucky but you sure lucked out with Matt.
“Hey Matt you didn’t have to stay”- you said while entering the kitchen, still in your towel- “I told you, I’m gonna be f_”- you stopped suddenly.
Sure Matt was in the kitchen but he wasn’t alone, Sylvie was there with him and evidently she didn’t know you were there. Of course she didn’t, why would she.

“Sylvie I...”- she was so nice and you could see the sadness in her eyes and you knew it was your fault.
‘You destroy everything you touch. He’s gonna leave you, why wouldn’t he.’
You could hear your ex’s voice in your head and you were so taken by your thoughts you almost didn’t notice Sylvie leaving
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bother you guys” she said while practically flying the house
“Wait” said Matt but she was already gone.
You were in silent for a while waiting for Matt to get mad at you but he didn’t... of course he didn’t
“I’m so sorry Matt. I didn’t know she was here”
“Hey you didn’t do anything wrong ok? I invited her in without warning you”- he was smiling but you knew you had to fix it.
“I’ll talk to her, I’ll explain everything ok?”- you’ll fix it... for him
“I thought you weren’t ready”- he didn’t understand why you didn’t want people to know. It wasn’t because he didn’t want to, he just couldn’t. It had never been him receiving the ‘look’ once knowing about you, about your past. He was the good guy in the story, you on the other hand...
“You were right, I have to do this sooner or later, better be sooner right?”- and if everything went to shit at least you hadn’t been there too long to form proper bonds.
He hugged you because he knew you so well; he knew telling people the truth meant talking, at least in part, about your past. And you hated your past, but you had to... for Matt

The next day at work talking to Sylvie proved to be more difficult than you thought.
Between the calls (during which it wasn’t professional to talk) and her clear avoidance was not happening.
So once you were back from another call you blocked her before she could leave
“We need to talk”- you said blocking her path- “please”
Matt had always said your puppy eyes were dangerous and you had never believed him, but you knew you had to try with everything you got, so you gave her your puppy eyes.
“There is nothing to talk about”
“Yes there is. Listen it’s not what you think. I swear, I...”- she stopped you before you could continue
“You don’t have to explain me anything. It’s not my business”- she was calm but you knew better. She was hurt, if because she liked Matt or because you didn’t open up to her, you didn’t know. But the hurt in her voice was very much clear.
“Sylvie Matt and I...”
“I don’t care if you sleep with Matt”- she didn’t scream but she was loud and you both hadn’t noticed the crowd forming
“You slept with Y/N”- someone behind you said
You turned over and basically all 51 was there, you looked at Sylvie again and you could see she was sorry. She hadn’t noticed them either
You could tell it had been Severide who had talked.
“I thought you had a thing for...” - Kelly started again but stopped before saying too much, but he was looking at Brett so it didn’t take a genius to fill the gap
“We didn’t sleep together”- Matt said while looking between Kelly and Brett
“It’s not my business but don’t lie straight to my face at least. She was half naked in your house Matt”- well the cat was out of the bag. And everyone was looking at you
You had to say something
“I live there too”- way to go Y/n, you told yourself.
“You guys live together?”- Herman said- “how long have you been together?”
“Oh my god we’re not together”- you tried again. When you promised Matt to fix it you didn’t think you would have to talk in front of all the guys.
“So you live together, sleep together but are not a couple”- Stella summed up
“I’M HIS SISTER”- you screamed and yup... everyone was looking at you like you were crazy.
You turned around and went to the bathroom ready to throw up. Damn it you hated confrontations and now, you didn’t have to explain everything only to Sylvie, but to everyone at 51.
Damn it.

It’s been so long, I know and I’m so sorry. Sadly I can’t promise a schedule but I’m gonna try to post more frequently. Don’t give up on me please.

Then I met you- Part 4
Pairing: Kelly Severide x Reader // Platonic!Reader x Matt Casey
Warnings: angst, age difference

Since the relationship between you and Matt had come out things had been a lot easier at the firehouse: you had started to form closer friendships with all your colleagues and you had finally started to feel part of the family as well. The only “bad” thing about you finally telling the truth and everyone being cool with it was Matt’s ‘I told you so’ face. He couldn’t stop gloating and you retaliated by teasing him about Sylvie. It was fair to say that telling the team the truth had been good for your relationship with Matt too.
And then there was Severide with whom you had been getting closer and closer; he had been nice to you since the beginning but things were changing and you were nervous and thrilled at the same time. You had seen Matt and Kelly talking in hushed tone more than once but you hadn’t asked Matt what they had been talking about.
You were in the common room having lunch with Matt and Kelly, they were joking with each other while you were lost in your thoughts: you were really in a good place in your life and you were afraid the other shoe was going to drop sooner or later. It was what had happened before: your happiness had never lasted long.
You were so taken by your thoughts that you almost didn’t see Joe entering the room
“Casey your sister is asking for you”- said Joe and you could feel every eyes on you -“Christie”- Joe added once he felt the general confusion.
“Oh I didn’t know she was coming”- he said before leaving the room.
There was a little bit of silence when he left and you slowly swallowed, you knew someone was going to ask soon.
“So... aren’t you going to say hi to Christie too? I mean you two are sisters too right?”- Gallo asked and you heard Severide groaning. You were happy he had stayed beside you, you felt better when he was with you. And wasn’t that a thought you weren’t ready to investigate further yet.
“She didn’t ask for me, did she”- you snapped and felt bad as soon as you had done talking -“I’m sorry Gallo, really. It’s just I’m not Christie’s favorite person so, I can assure you, she would prefer not to see my face ever again”- you got up and left the room hoping not to cross Matt’s and Christie’s way while going to the changing room.
You were sitting on the bench when you heard someone arriving
“Hey”- Kelly said while sitting on the bench beside you -“you ok?”
“Yeah. I’m sorry I snapped at Gallo, it’s just Christie is a delicate spot”
“Hey he kinda deserved it. You don’t go sniffing other people’s business if you aren’t ready for the consequences.”- he nudged your shoulder. He sat there with you in silence waiting for you, you had never talked with anybody about your relationship with Christie or lack of relationship therefore. You had never touched the subject with Matt, you didn’t think it was fair to him. He loved both of you and you had never wanted to let him think, not even for a second, you wanted him to choose.
“I’ve always been scared of Christie; she had never liked the idea of me, of my existence. Not because she’s mean or anything, at least I don’t think so, I always thought it was because my existence was the proof that her dad wasn’t as perfect as she thought. Christie has never recognized our father’s mistakes, let’s say Matt and I have seen a different side of our father, a side that Christie still like to think never existed. And I don’t know, I like to say I don’t blame her for it, but knowing your sister has never been interested in knowing you hurt like hell. And I can’t talk about it with Matt, because I know it would be difficult for him, so every time she appears in his life I bake off a little bit. So yeah, that’s why I snapped at Gallo because it still hurts and I’m always scared of losing Matt. He’s one of the only two people that have been on my side after my mom died, and I’m constantly scared of losing him. So that’s it... I’m sorry I unloaded all of that on you”- you had talked so much you were practically out of breath.
“Hey there’s nothing to be sorry for, I’m always here when you want to talk. Now listen there is no way you’re going to lose Matt, he hasn’t given up on me and I’ve been a major asshole to him multiple times. He loves you so much I can see it. Beside you have me on your corner too, I hope you know that”
You smiled at him aware of his hand gently caressing your cheek. You stopped breathing for a second unsure of what was going to happen, he was looking at you and you couldn’t help but get lost in his eyes. They were so blue and so deep, like a god damn ocean.

“Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61...”
Kelly groaned and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“Come on Lieutenant people need to be saved”- you smiled at each other before running to the others.

You were so tired, the shift had been exhausting and you couldn’t wait to get into bed and sleeping for hours.
One good thing had come out of this shift, Matt had finally had the gut to ask Sylvie out, so you were going home alone.
You sigh with relief: finally home!
You stop for a second, frowning while looking at the door, someone had left an envelope on your step door addressed to you. You put the key in the lock door so you had the hands free to open the envelope
You stopped breathing: photos of you, the envelope was full of them, photos of you at the station, photos of you walking, photos of you at home.
You paled... you couldn’t breathing. You took your keys and started run towards your car.
Someone had been following you.
I’m so happy to have found again the inspiration for this story. Hope you enjoyed this chapter and I’m sorry for the delay but I’m a very slow writer.
Like always I’m sorry if there are mistakes but English is not my first language.
FEEDBACK IS ALWAYS WELCOME AND APPRECIATED ❤️

Paramedic [Kelly Severide]

Description: Severide saves his girlfriend and Shay’s asses.
Warnings: Mentions of drugs, guns, and I think that is it.
"Pulse is fading fast!" Shay exclaims as she and her PIC examine the patient while another man bangs his fist on the back doors of the rig.
"Open the door! Open the damn door!" The man yells.
"How long till the cops get here?!" Y/N says into her radio.
"Y/L/N, listen to me, you can't wait for the cops. You need to get out of there." The dispatcher replies.
"Negative, we need two minutes to keep our patient from going into cardiac arrest." Y/N replies.
"You don't have two minutes! Fifty yards West of you dead ends into Carlav Avenue. Take the rig and make a left. Now!"
§§§
Back at Station Fifty-One, Kelly and Chief Boden were listening in on the girls' radio traffic while standing around the Squad Table.
"We have to stabilize our patient!" Y/N holds her ground. In the background you can hear pounding and screaming on the doors.
"Take the Squad and go." Boden orders.
§§§
Now three men were pounding on the ambulances doors.
"Hey! Open up!"
Shay looks over at her partner and Y/N nods. She gets up and walks over to the window.
"Hey! Listen ok? This guys in really bad shape. Let us get him bandaged to stop the bleeding and we'll let him go." She negotiates. What the men didn't know was that Y/N was quietly sneaking out the side door to get in the front seat. "No questions asked." She adds.
"Let him out the ambulance first!" The shorter of the three shouts.
"Ok, whatever you say! But get back!"
The engine roars to life and the tallest man jumps up on the back of the rig.
"Open the damn door!"
Y/N stomps on the gas and the force makes the man fall off. They begin to chase the vehicle, but decide to get in their car. She makes a left turn and they go around the corner a few seconds after them.
"Y/L/N!" Shay yells.
"Yeah! I see them!" Y/N yells back.
"Ok, you're approaching an alley, take the first left before you get there." Dispatch says.
"Wait, wait, wait! That leads into a warehouse! There's nowhere to go!"
"Trust me. Go to the loading docks."
Y/N makes the turn and parks before making sure the car has gone past and getting out and into the back.
"You take the head and I'll grab an IV." She tells Shay. Shay nods and unzips the mans jacket, only to find multiple bags of drugs taped to him.
"No we know why this guy is so popular."
"Dispatch to Ambulance Sixty-One. Police Assistance has been detoured. New ETA is five minutes." Both girls look at each other and give a 'oh shit' look.
"Ten-Four main."
Shay presses her stethoscope to the mans chest and listens. "Lung sounds diminished. He's circling."
"Ok, I'm gonna use an IO Drill. That's the only way we're going to get him to Med alive." But before she can grab her supplies she is interrupted by her radio.
"Y/L/N they're coming back."
She quickly grabs her stuff and drills into the mans shin. She puts the line in and Shay tells her that they've arrived.
"Alright, lets get out of here." Shay opens the door and jumps out, then the men start shooting at her. "Shots fired! Shots fired!" Y/N yells as she ducks from the shot out window. A set of sirens come from the road they pulled off of. Suddenly Squad Three pulls in front of the Ambulance and Kelly jumps out and gets in the back of the rig with his girlfriend. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Making sure you guys don't get killed!" She then notices the haligan in his hand. Then Kelly notices the drug bags laying around the ambulance.
"They were taped to him."
Then the sound of a squad car speeding down the alley causes the men to stop shooting at the Squad truck.
§§§
"You guys ok?" Kelly asks after Y/N backed the rig into its designated space.
"Yeah, it just added an hour to our normal time at the hospital." Shay huffs. Everyone on the apparatus floor chuckles.
"We're fine, but thank you for saving our asses." Y/N says as she looks around the Squad Table. They all smile at the girl who is encased in their Lieutenants arms.
"You know we've got to protect our family Y/L/N, especially our stubborn paramedics." Bodens booming voice says.
"Ok, we are not that stubborn." Shay argues.
Kelly looks down at his girlfriend and smiles when he sees she was already looking.
"You really didn't have to come after us." Y/N says.
"You know I'd always go after you. You're my paramedic."
Broken Hearts Club [Kelly Severide]

Description: Kelly Severide has made Y/N an official member of the Broken Hearts Club.
Warnings: Cheating, Cursing (are we surprised? no. ok.)
Y/N and Kelly had been dating for a year before Stella Kidd showed up. Stella was a absolute goddess. Beautiful hair, perfect smile, amazing personality and excellent firefighter skills. What was there not to love? Kelly obviously took notice of her, and even started to hang out with her instead of his girlfriend.
Y/N thought it might've been because she was new, and she was a firefighter, instead of a paramedic like Y/N, so they had plenty in common, but when Kelly started canceling on Y/N she grew suspicious.
Gabby and Y/N had gone out for drinks one night after they got off work. Gabby had a falling out with Matt, and she was currently staying with Y/N, so they figured they’d go get dinner and drinks together. Y/N was supposed to have dinner with Kelly, but of course, he canceled last minute.
"I heard Ambo 52 had a guy with a python biting his arm and it wrapped around his arm. Kristy and Zach were too afraid to touch the snake." Gabby says as they walk down the sidewalk. Y/N briefly chuckles at the story before going back to her somber mood. Gabby turns her head towards Y/N and her heart breaks for her. She knew how much Y/N loved Kelly, but she also knew how much of an asshole he'd been the past two months. "Hey, why don't we stop by and see Severide. He said he had to help Kidd with something at Molly's right?" Y/N nods.
"Yeah. Something about fixing the wall and shelves, or hanging shelves on the wall? I'm not sure. The phone call only lasted like forty seconds."
"Then let's go." Gabby says and loops her arm with Y/N's before heading towards Molly's.
§§§
Once they make it to the bar, they say hello to everyone they know before heading over to Otis.
"Hey Otis." Y/N says.
"Hey guys, what's up." He replies as he cleans a glass.
"We stopped by to see Severide, any idea where he is?" Gabby asks as she sits on a barstool.
"He should be in the back putting up a shelf. He asked Stella to hold it up for him." Otis says and nods his head to the back room. Y/N nods.
"Ok, can I have four beers?" She passes him a twenty dollar bill and Otis grabs four beers for her. "I'm going to take one to Kelly and Stella. I'll be back." Y/N grabs two beers and starts walking to the back.
She enters the hallway and notices that she can't hear any voices, or tools. She thought they might be concentrating, trying to get the shelf level, or they aren't even back there.
She couldn't have been any more wrong.
She steps in the open doorway and looks at the sight in front of her. Kelly has Stella pinned up against the wall, their lips pressed together. Once her head catches up with her eyes, she drops the beers and gasps. Stella pulls away and catches Y/N's eyes.
"Kel-Kelly." By time he pulled away, Y/N had already turned around and started towards the bar. She grabs the beer she ordered and walks out the door before anyone can ask her anything.
Kelly runs down the hall and meets Gabby and Otis' confused faces. When Gabby sees Kelly's appearance she immediately knows what's going on.
"Where'd she go?" Kelly asks. Gabby stands up and moves in his way.
"Just stop. I think you've done enough." Then Gabby grabs her beer and follows Y/N out the door.
Kelly watches as the door slams shut. He knew he fucked up when he saw the look on Gabby's face.
"Damnit!" He yells and kicks a barstool before turning back and going down the hall.
§§§
Gabby sat down next to Y/N on the curb. She took one look at her eyes and immediately knew how much this has hurt her. Mentally and emotionally. They sit there in silence while tears roll down Y/N's face.
"I thought he loved me." Y/N sobs. Gabby wraps her arm around Y/N and lets her lean her head on her shoulder.
Welcome to the Broken Hearts Club Y/N.
All That Matters [Kelly Severide]

Description: Kelly is overprotective, but this time he has a good reason.
Warnings: Assault, unwanted advances, cursing.
The Cubs were playing tonight and anytime they played a home game all of Chicago would watch. Some from their homes, some from Wrigley Field, some from bars. This did not exclude the crew from Firehouse Fifty-One. They'd all gathered at Molly's after their shift to watch the game, eat some food and drink.
The bar was packed. Like barely any standing room packed.
Kelly had decided that since Y/N excelled during a challenging call that he would be the designated driver.
Y/N definitely would've blown over the legal limit on a breathalyzer by inning five.
Four shots of tequila and two beers had her stumbling through the crowd on her way back from the bathroom.
Kelly had noticed a guy glancing over at her a lot, but he didn't want to say anything to Y/N because he wanted her to enjoy tonight. He didn't want to start something over nothing again. Maybe the guy was looking at the TV. They were sitting close to it.
Y/N had noticed the guy staring at her too. She didn't say anything to Kelly because she knew how he could get. Anything that would present a threat to her in his book, was immediately taken care of by him. For example, the Chicago Fire Department Gala.
The gala was a fundraiser to raise money for families around Christmas time. A group of guys cornered Y/N and Gabby by the bathrooms. When Kelly saw what was going on, he only saw red. That was until Y/N grabbed his wrist. She was the only person able to bring him back to earth when things got tough.
He's head over heels for that girl.
Y/N was halfway there when someone bumped into her. She didn't think much of it at first, until someone grabbed her forearm.
She turned around and met the face of the guy that she felt staring at her all night.
"Can I help you?" She asks.
"Yeah. You can actually." He replies. "Do a little spin for me sweetheart." He smirks.
"No thanks. I have a boyfriend, and even if I didn't, I wouldn't be interested." She was starting to sober up, because she felt uncomfortable.
"That guy in the CFD shirt? Did he have to buy that to look cool because he's a volly?" He chuckles. "Honey both of us know he can't handle a woman like you." He gives Y/N a sinister smile and her stomach churns.
She looks around Molly's, desperately trying to catch Kelly's eyes, but the he steps up beside her.
"Firehouse Fifty-One, Squad Three Lieutenant Kelly Severide." Kelly grabs his hand and tears it off of his girlfriend. "Can I help you? Or are we going to have a problem because you keep harassing my girlfriend?"
"I didn't do shit, but if you want a problem, I can give you one." The guy sits his can of beer down on the table beside them and swings at Kelly, but, because he's drunk, he completely misses and hits Y/N.
By then Casey, Gabby and Cruz noticed what was going on, and they'd started to make their way over.
Y/N fell to the ground because she wasn't expecting that. Kelly immediately lunges at the guy and tackles him to the floor. He throws punches left and right. Not caring where he was hitting the guy.
Gabby kneeled down by Y/N and helped her to her feet and out the front door, leaving Casey and Cruz to get Kelly.
"Severide! Severide! Stop!" They grabbed his arms and dragged him up to his feet.
"Stop before you kill him!" Casey yells.
Kelly doesn't care. His brain immediately goes to Y/N.
"Where is she? Where's Y/N?"
"Gabby took her outside." Cruz says.
Kelly starts towards the door, pushing past everyone to get to her. Once he gets outside he looks left and then right to find Y/N and Gabby standing by the wall. He rushes to her and turns her to him.
She's got a black eye already forming, a definite bloody broken nose, and tears rolling down her face. Kelly sighs and pulls her to his chest and puts his hand on the back of her head.
"I'm so sorry, baby." Kelly whispers.
"It's ok. I'll be fine."
"No it's not ok. That bastard is getting charges pressed against him, and you are going to get checked out." He says. "I should've went with you. I should've been there earlier."
"You can't predict the future Kelly." Y/N says as she pulls away. "I'm ok. You're ok. That's all that matters."
"That's all that matters."
Stand Down [Kelly Severide] ⚠️

Description: Lieutenant Kelly Severide arrives on scene of a pileup and is asked to stand down by his Chief, only to discover his fiancée is caught up in the middle of it.
Warnings: Mentions of drug and alcohol abuse, multiple vehicle accident, traumatic injuries, cursing.
Winter has made its way to Chicago, and Firehouse Fifty-One has been running since early that morning when more people started getting on the roads.
Squad 3 had just pulled back into the bay when they got toned out for another accident.
This time though it was on I-90 North just before 290 and multiple trucks were toned out.
Once they marked themselves en route, dispatch came over the radio.
"Truck 81, Engine 51, Squad 3, Battalion 25, Ambulance 61, Ambulance 67, Ambulance 56. You're en route to I-90 Northbound just before 290 for a multiple vehicle pileup. Multiple injuries reported. Call placer is advising full lane blockage. Dispatch is trying to connect with Medevac for a possible LZ. Please advise if you need more personnel."
"Dispatch, Squad 3 is clear on your traffic." Kelly puts the radio down and puts on a high visibility vest. "Be careful getting out guys, it's going to be slippery."
"Will do Lieutenant." Cruz responds. "I'm glad Chloe is staying home today. I would be worried sick if I knew she had to go anywhere."
"Yeah, I'm glad Y/N decided to close the shop early last night when she saw the weather because I really do not want her to be on the road right now." Kelly agrees.
Y/N owns her own bakery. She was supposed to be open today but with the weather they got she didn't want any of her staff to make the trek in, so she closed.
"Dispatch, Battalion 25 is on scene. Approximately fifteen vehicle accident involving two semi's. Three vehicles with entrapment. I have multiple injured occupants and some walking wounded. Battalion 25 will have I-90 North command. Go ahead and start Medevac and a few more ambulances." Chief Boden's voice is unreadable, almost like he is trying to show no emotion at all.
"Clear Battalion 25, starting Medevac and three other Ambulances."
Squad 3 is the last to get on the on ramp, having to go onto the emergency lane because of all of the backed up traffic.
"Battalion 25, Squad 3. Where would you like us chief?" Kelly asks, waiting for his truck's assignments.
"When you guys get on scene, go ahead and bring your manpower to help with extrication. Engine 51 has gotten one out already."
"Clear, our ETA is about a minute and a half."
Once on scene Kelly hops out of the truck and starts walking up, but Boden intercepts him.
"I need you to stay back here with me." He says sternly.
Kelly looks at his Chief with a quick questioning glance.
"What, why?" Kelly asks and looks around.
"Lieutenant, I need you to stand down-."
Then his eyes land on it.
On her vehicle, it was compacted and torn to pieces.
"That's her car!" Kelly's voice and eyes are frantic as he tries to make his way to his fiancée.
"Lieutenant Severide! Stand down and let them help her!" Boden exclaims, trying to get Kelly to think clearly.
"T-That's her car Chief! That's my girl's car!" He tries to pull away from Boden again and this time Boden wraps his arms around Kelly.
"Dispatch from Truck 81. Just an update for Medevac. We've got a thirty-five year old female, extended extrication, collapsed lung, open bilateral broken lower extremities, open broken left arm. Possible internal bleeding and suspected brain bleed. Patient is currently not conscious but reactive to painful stimuli." Matt's radio cuts out and Kelly falls to his knees and starts sobbing.
"Kelly, listen to me. You have to believe she is going to be okay. She's a fighter. It's going to be a long road but she is strong, she won't give up until she's damn well ready to and we all know she's not ready to." Boden goes to the ground with the grief stricken Lieutenant and hugs him.
"This shouldn't have happened! She was supposed to be at home!" Kelly exclaims.
"I know." Boden pauses, "They're probably going to load her into the ambulance until the helicopter gets here. I'll let you go see her but you have to promise to let them do their job and not get too upset if she's awake because it can upset her as well."
Severide nods and Boden helps him stand. They walk together to Ambulance 61 and Boden opens the back door. Sylvie, Violet, Casey and Cruz all inside assisting in their colleagues' fiancées care.
"He wants to see her." Boden states.
"Okay. Hop in." Sylvie says with a little smile, hoping to calm Kelly a little bit. Violet hops out of the rig to go see if anybody needs any help for the time being.
Kelly gets in and Boden shuts the door to keep the heat in. Casey scoots over so Kelly can sit closer up to Y/N's head.
He sits down, takes one look at her and chokes on a sob.
"Oh my god."
Matt puts his hand on his friend's shoulder and squeezes, silently letting him know that he's there for him.
"Kelly, she was asking for you before she went unconscious. That's a good thing." Sylvie says as she re-examines Y/N's neurological status.
Kelly nods and lets out a breath he had been holding in.
"She was supposed to be at home. I don't know why she would go out in this weather. She even closed the bakery today because of how bad it is."
"Lieutenant, she said something about her nephew when we were getting her out. Elliott, I believe is what she said." Cruz states.
Kelly's mind instantly goes wild.
He knows exactly why she's in this position now.
"Do you have her phone?" He asks Sylvie.
"Yeah, it fell out of her pocket. Here." Brett fishes it out of her pocket and hands it to Kelly.
He grabs it and then grabs his fiancées hand and leans down to her level.
"I love you baby, but this has got to stop." He presses a kiss to her forehead and rubs his free hand through her hair. "You're going to be okay my love. You're going to get the best treatment and then we will get you home to rest." He presses another kiss to her temple. "Just hang in there for me okay?"
He squeezes her hand one last time and decides to get out of the rig and rush over to Boden.
"I need you to take me somewhere once you are finished up here before I head to the hospital."
§§§
Kelly stomps up the townhouse stairs, right up to the same door he's had to pound on almost a hundred times.
"Elliott! Answer the damn door!" He screams.
Boden steps out of his vehicle and leans against it, watching his Lieutenant to make sure nothing happens.
After no answer, Kelly starts incessantly pounding on the door.
"Elliott James Y/L/N! Open this damn door right now or I'm going to open it myself!"
The door swings open and Kelly's fist almost connects to the teenager's face. Not that he'd be upset if it did.
"What do you want? I called Y/N, not her boy toy." Elliott grumbles, rubbing the high and hangover out of his eyes.
Kelly doesn't answer. He just grabs him and drags him down the stairs. Then shoves him into the backseat of his Chief's SUV.
Boden glances over to Kelly and he nods.
"Can we go to the hospital now?"
§§§
"Why am I at the hospital?" Elliott asks for the hundredth time since parking.
"You'll see." Kelly sneers as he leads him into the elevator, pressing the floor where the ICU is.
"Kelly, where is Y/N?"
"Elliott, hold on." Chief Boden says sternly.
The elevator opens and Kelly walks over to where Dr. Rhodes is standing, watching her.
"Kelly." Dr. Rhodes nods.
"Connor."
Dr. Rhodes opens the door for Kelly and turns to Chief Boden.
"If you guys need anything let me or the nurse know."
"Thank you, Rhodes." Boden replies.
Kelly stops for a second, looking into the room at her.
Y/N's in a medically induced coma, due to the brain bleed raising her intracranial pressure. Also, so she can recover from her broken bones that have been fixed during surgery and the internal bleeding from a spleen laceration.
It takes everything in him not to break down right then and there. He's trying to think positive but he knows how bad things can get, and he just can't get over the thought of losing the love of his life.
After a few seconds he motions for Elliott to come in.
Elliott takes a few hesitant steps towards Kelly, and then turns to look into the room.
Elliott's jaw drops and he takes a step back.
"W-What happened?"
"She is in this position because of you." Kelly starts, "She wasn't supposed to be out today because of the weather. But you texted her to come check you out because you thought you were having an "adverse reaction" to the heroin you had just shot up with." Kelly reads from Y/N's messages with her nephew. "She got caught in the middle of a pileup on I-90 trying to get to you because she knew that if she called 911 you would throw a fit like the child you are Elliott."
Elliott turns and glares at Kelly. "Watch who you're talking to! I can make her leave you in an instant." Elliott lunges toward Kelly and Boden steps in between the two.
"Elliott, calm down. This is not the place."
"No! Who the hell does he think he is telling me I put her in here! She didn't have to come, this is her fault!" Elliott exclaims.
"How dare you blame this on her! She's taken care of you since you were a baby because no one else would! Of course she's going to come to your rescue when you ask her to." Kelly seethes, "She's a good woman, a good person. But you're taking advantage of her and you have been for years. She wants you to get help, she wants you to be happy, healthy and safe. Can't you see what lengths she would go to to make sure you're okay?"
As Kelly continues to rant his voice gets louder.
"I'm done letting you do this to her Elliott! You can either go get help, get clean. Or you can continue to do this shit to yourself and deal with consequences yourself because she is done. She's not doing this shit anymore! No more coming to your rescue, no more supporting you financially, no more doing anything for you. You're nineteen years old man, it's time to start growing up."
"Fuck you, Kelly Severide." Elliott spits.
"Yeah, whatever." Kelly scoffs, expecting nothing less from him. "We will help you, Elliott. You just need to want help and be serious about it. Do you really want to live this way for the rest of your life?" Kelly questions, trying to get him to see his point.
After a long pause, he finally speaks up.
"No, I don't. I just don't know what to do. I've got nothing."
"Elliott, we can get you going in the right direction. The first step is to go to rehab and detox. Then we can get you set up somewhere else, away from those people you were just with." Boden speaks.
Elliott glances between the two men, then locks his eyes on Y/N. A few tears shine in his eyes and his lip trembles.
"Okay, I'll go."
§§§
Four days after the accident Y/N's intracranial pressure finally came down for Dr. Rhodes to be willing to bring her out of the coma.
Kelly had been at work because he wanted to use his furlough for after she got out of the hospital, knowing she'd need him more then, than when she was getting 24/7 care while at Med.
"Kelly, it's Dr. Rhodes." Connor says as the phone picks up.
"Hey, what's going on? Is she okay?" Kelly rushes as he stands up from the "Squad Table".
"Yeah, she's doing great actually. I just took her off of the sedative so she can wake up. Her ICP is down and her spleen laceration has healed enough that I'm comfortable waking her up. So, she's doing great!" Connor is elated that Y/N is coming out of her coma, because he wasn't sure if she'd make it a few days ago.
"Oh thank god." Kelly releases a deep sigh, feeling weight come off of his shoulders.
Everyone on shift comes out to the apparatus floor, after hearing that Kelly received a phone call. They are all gathered around waiting to hear the news, good or bad.
"I want to be there. Let me see if I can get someone to cover me and I'll be there as soon as I can."
He hangs up the phone and smiles, looking at his Firehouse 51 family.
"Her ICP is down and her spleen laceration is healed enough that Dr. Rhodes is comfortable bringing her out of the coma. He stopped the sedatives about twenty minutes ago, so she should be waking up here soon." Kelly says with a bright smile.
"Well what are you still doing here?" Casey asks.
"Go be with your girl Severide. We've got you covered. All we ask for is an update later." Boden goes up to Kelly and cups his shoulder.
"You've got it. Thank you guys."
§§§
Kelly anxiously waits for the elevator door to open to the ICU. His drive to the hospital was quick but now that he's close to being with her the journey to her floor seems like it's taking a lifetime.
Finally the elevator comes to a stop and the door opens. He steps out and makes his way towards her room.
He passes by some of the nurses and waves at them with a quick smile to say "hello" without actually saying it.
Once he finally makes it into her room he stops at the door, seeing her sitting up and Dr. Rhodes handing her a cup of water.
"You're doing a lot better Y/N. You had us all worried sick for these past few days. Especially Kelly. In all of my years working here and encountering that man, I have not seen him like this before." Connor jokes.
"Y-Yeah. He is pretty protective of me, always has been." Y/N giggles softly.
The sound makes Kelly's heart swoon.
"That is because you think you're six foot five and three hundred something pounds, baby. I've got to make sure you don't get in too far over your head." His voice captures her attention and she instantly perks up.
"You're here?" She asks as Kelly walks in.
"Of course I'm here. There's nowhere else I would rather be." He hugs her as best as he can without hurting her and presses multiple kisses on her face.
"Okay guys, I will be back in a little while. Press your button if you need anything." Dr. Rhodes makes a quick exit, giving the engaged couple their space.
"Thank you." Y/N calls.
Then she turns to Kelly.
"I am so sorry." She starts.
"Baby don't-."
"No, please let me talk." She says, "I know I shouldn't have been out but he called me and then started texting me how he thought something was wrong and he was freaking out. I knew he'd get mad if I called 911 to check him out, so I just went myself." She stops and takes a deep breath, "I don't like those people he lives with. I've tried to get him to go somewhere else but he just won't and he won't get help Kelly. I don't think I can do this anymore! I've tried and tried. I pay for everything the kid wants or needs and I try to give him a better life than my sister ever would have given him. I'm just at the point where I have nothing left to give anymore. I mean, we're supposed to be getting married and I want to settle down and have kids and continue growing my bakery but I can't do any of that with him the way he is and it's not fair!" She cries.
Her monitor starts beeping faster and Kelly sees that her being upset has affected her heart rate.
"I know it's not fair, but listen to me." Kelly sits next to her in the bed and wraps an arm around her shoulders gently. "Boden and I talked some sense into Elliott. He's saying he's serious about getting clean and doing better. He's been in the rehab center since the day this happened."
And her heart rate goes down.
"Really?" She asks hopefully.
"Yes babe, really. I think he finally understood that what he was doing wasn't just affecting him." He pauses, "And I was thinking about something too. We have been talking about getting a house, so we can grow into it. Why don't we start looking while you're healing and when Elliott is able to be on his own he can move into our condo. It's already paid for so I think he can rent it from us at a reasonable price until he gets back on his feet. It's in a good neighborhood, there are pretty much no drugs running through there and it would be a good place for him to start out." Kelly suggests.
Y/N stares at him for a few seconds in disbelief. Kelly and Elliott had always butt heads so this is very surprising to her.
"I-I mean are you sure? I don't want you to regret it when the time comes."
"Y/N, I am sure. Elliott isn't my favorite person but he is important to you so he is important to me too. I just want what is best for the kid, even though he hasn't realized that in all of these years."
"Okay." Y/N nods with a big smile.
"Okay." Kelly presses a kiss to the side of her head and finally relaxes.
He knows it's going to be a long road, but he won't complain because his girl is still here with him, in his arms.
Fender Bender [Kelly Severide] 🎄

Description: Kelly doesn’t mind working on Christmas, especially when he gets to meet one of his mens' good friends.
"Squad 3, Truck 81, Ambulance 61. Three vehicle collision, unknown injuries. Roosevelt and Halsted."
Kelt didn't mind working Christmas day. He didn't have anyone to celebrate with, so he'd rather spend it with his firehouse family.
He got his gear on and hopped into his seat in the Squad truck.
"Lieutenant, are you open to dating right now?" Cruz asks as he finishes putting his coat on.
"I'm open to fun, Cruz. Why are you asking?" Kelly replies as he flips the switches for the lights and turns the sirens on.
"Well, I've got a friend who I think you'd really like. She used to be a firefighter, but she got injured in a building collapse, so now she works at Chicago Med in the ED. She is super sweet and funny. I really think you two would go good together."
"I'm not opposed, but I'm not looking to get married right now." Kelly cuts the sirens since they are pulling up to the scene.
"Neither is she." Cruz adds.
Tony pulls the truck up next to the wrecked vehicles and parks it.
Everyone gets out and Kelly goes over to the vehicles to assess the situation.
It's a chain reaction rear end accident. There's one car sandwiched between two others.
The front car is missing the driver, so he moves onto the one in the middle.
"Oh my god!" Cruz exclaims, "Y/N?!"
"Cruz?!" Kelly asks.
"My friend that I was just telling you about. That's her car!" He points to the car in the front without a driver, "Y/N?!" He yells.
"Joey?!" A voice yells from the middle car.
Cruz runs over to the car and Severide follows.
"Y/N what the hell?"
She is in the crushed back seat holding onto the drivers head.
"He's got severe head, neck and back pain, passed out a few minutes ago because of it. He also said he can't feel his fingers. A K.E.D is probably the best way to get him out of here."
Cruz looks at his Lieutenant and Kelly nods, signaling for him to go get the equipment.
"How long have you been off the job?" Kelly asks as he climbs in beside her to asses her injuries and make sure the driver isn't pinned.
"Three years. I was on Truck 78 and got injured in the building collapse over on Logan Boulevard. Ruined my dreams of ever getting on a Squad. I had just gotten my certification, I was just waiting on a opening."
"I'm sure you would've killed it on Squad. Anytime you want you can come on ride alongs with Squad 3." He offers, examining a cut in the side of her face by her eyes.
"I'd like that." Y/N nods.
Gabby comes over to the window and looks inside.
"What do we got Sev?"
"Unconscious male driver, was complaining of severe head, neck and back pain. No feeling in his fingers." He pauses nodding towards Y/N, "C-Spine is stabilized as well. She's got a couple of lacerations, but no other complaints."
Gabby looks over at Y/N and her jaw drops.
"Oh my god, Y/N?!" She exclaims.
Y/N looks over at Gabby and smiles, "No way. Gabriela Dawson. Long time no see! Merry Christmas!"
Cruz comes back and they start to get a C-Collar on the patient to get him hooked up on the K.E.D as well.
Kelly helps Y/N get out of the car and he finally can get a better look to see if she is okay.
"You have any pain, cuts, anything?" He asks.
Y/N spins in a circle and laughs, "Nope! Probably just a few bumps and bruises. I'll sign a refusal."
Kelly nods and smiles at her, getting lost in her own beautiful smile.
"Earth to Lieutenant Severide." She waves her hand in front of him.
Kelly breaks out of his trance to see Cruz standing next to Y/N now.
"Sorry." He clears his throat, "What?"
"We're going to have her stop by the house for Christmas dinner later, if that's alright with you?" Cruz says, with a knowing smirk on his face of course.
"Yeah!- Of course." He exclaims as the police officer comes over to take a statement from Y/N, "I guess we will see you later then?"
Y/N nods, "Yeah, I will see you guys then." She waves and then walks over to the officer.
Kelly and Joe watch her for a few seconds before Cruz turns to his Lieutenant.
"I told you that you'd like her." He jokes.
"Yeah, yeah Cruz. We'll see how dinner goes back at the house." Kelly says as he starts to walk back over to the truck to pack up, trying to hide his pink cheeks.
"Dinner will go swimmingly. Y/N even offered to bring us some dessert since we don't have a baker in the house. She knows the way to a man's heart."
"You're right Cruz. I do like her. She is even bringing us food." Kelly laughs.
"Hey Sev! What's got you blushing over there?!" Casey yells from across the road.
Kelly glances over at Y/N and she just shakes her head with a smile on her face.
"You mean "who"?!"
