while I can see vague jonmartin double characters being relevant at some point in the future, I would also be totally satisfied if this is the most we ever hear of them. it's nothing concrete, it might not be them at all, the beginning of the case didn't even take place in the main protocol universe, but still. it's a little nod to the idea that there may be somewhere where they meet like normal, in a situation where they would probably have cause to see each other for a few minutes every week. to me that is the perfect balance of open endedness with a gesture towards the possibility of a happy ending. I hope the nervous receptionist and the dastardly orchid stroker enjoy themselves.

Spoilers for 3 Times Vincent Couldn't Say How He Felt, And 1 Time He Did

The fact that Vincent was >thisclose< to saying something along the lines of "I love you" or "I want to stay here with you" after only meeting them three times is insane, and I love it. Though it does add a new intensity of how Vincent was feeling throughout the roommates-stage. He knows what he's feeling could be seen as too much, too fast, so he has to slow it down and hide it all under the flirty persona he's perfected over the last 2 decades. (I'm not crying, you are!) BUT Lovely can already see through the act a bit, questioning what he wants before he left 🥹😭
ALSO! (Because I'm an idiot, and it was 3am when I first wrote this) that 👆 happened after Vincent first bites Lovely and explains what magic is, and BEFORE Adam kidnaps them. ADAM HEARD ALL OF THIS, this was the cutesy stuff he was making fun of. This was the most adorable scene ever and now it has an angsty aftertaste.
The way Vincent mentions the Wards and Protection spells, and how Lovely thanks him like this is a normal everyday occurrence in their life now is so sweet, But We Know What Happened Next 🥺😭
Wow, Vincent being the one to call the meeting between Lovely and William really changes things. This wasn't a meeting of a King and the partner of his progeny, or even a King and the victim of a heinous crime perpetrated by someone under his rule, this was a meeting of a man and his son's partner.
"They’re… I mean, they’re my forever person, you know? They should meet my Maker." Excuse me while I sob forever at how adorable this is. The two most important people in his life meeting is obviously a highly stressful, but very important moment for him. Lol at Sam being less than unhelpful though 😂
That Inverson scene though?? Stabbing me would honestly hurt less.
Lovely being the one to bring up the possibility that they (they themself, or everyone in general, I'm not sure... 🥺) might not survive this and Vincent trying desperately to stay positive in the face of The Worst Disaster Ever? 😭 And knowing what happened next... Damn, Erik... did you make a deal with a Misery demon this week?
And the final scene? Their hope for the future despite all the terrible things they've been through? "I can’t lie to you, Lovely. I couldn’t say it if I didn’t really believe it. I do." 😭💕 It really gives me hope for their next chapter, the next stage of their story, wherever it takes them.
Moments like these that remind me that Vincent is still human inside, unsure of how to express his emotions due to his inexperience with doing so. He was 20 when he was Turned, and then all but isolated for a number of years after that, partially through his own choice, then he made the decision that to be a good vamp he had to close off his emotions (some of the Solaires are bad role models...). Through the four years he's been with Lovely, he's learned so much about himself and how to let himself just be... Vincent, as dorky and stupid as he wants to be without feeling like he needs to put on a flirty mask 24/7.
This has been coming for a long time. Okay, so assuming that 1) Mabel and Dipper’s school let out for summer break around the beginning of June, which usually does not happen, and 2) That they left for Gravity Falls immediately and didn’t spend any time home at all, which I also find hard to believe, Mabel and Dipper could have only spent about three months with Stanley. That’s not a lot of time at all, but have you ever seen anyone say he doesn’t love those kids? Of course not, everyone knows he loves them so, so much. This is a widely accepted fact in the fandom.
I’m assuming Stanford has known the kids for at least a few weeks to a month, which isn’t that short compared to three months. But I always see people saying he’s only known them for such a short time and that he can’t possibly love them that much, especially Mabel. Please don’t forget what stopped Stanford from going off on the man who pushed him into a hellscape dimension that traumatized his partner in seconds - The knowledge that he had a niece and nephew!

I’ve seen so many people say that he doesn’t love or care about his niece or nephew, and that he manipulates them, and none of this is true. At all. I’ve seen enough posts about the nephew, though, so I’ll focus on the niece.
Immediately, he goes out to shake her hand, with the six fingers he was so insecure about that he balled into a fist when he was shaking the hand of his professor. He already likes her and says as much. This is where it gets less obvious, because they didn’t get as much screen time together as they should’ve, but the sentiment is still there.
Stanford has dealt with unicorns before and knows the chances of getting their hair are unlikely, but he still sees how excited Mabel is to go and really, if anyone could get that hair, it would be Mabel, so he lets her go. He even gives a crossbow - which, admittedly, is really irresponsible, but he’s been away for thirty years. Cut him some slack. - so she’ll be able to defend herself, and one of his journals, his prized possessions. When she succeeds, he’s so happy and so proud of her and he makes sure that she knows how great she was!
The picture above, which is commonly used to show how much he hates Mabel… Well, yes, Mabel is the one with the leaf blower strategy, and I wish there had been a note about that in the journal, but there’s not. There could be, but there’s not, all it says is leaf blowers, in Dipper’s handwriting. How on earth would Stanford know it was all Mabel’s idea, just from looking at that journal page?
Honestly, that entire episode is used as an example of how much he hates Mabel, but consider this: It’s not. First of all, it’s not that Stanford just has little to no concern for Mabel and wants to brush her off, he genuinely believes she has a great personality and would be okay on her own, if it came to that. This is wrong, of course, but he had no malicious intent. He was interested in her and what she was doing; he was watching her while she befriended the pizza guy.
This is the face of a man who is genuinely sad about the implication that his niece might not be happy. Not because he hates her guts and wants her brother all to himself, or something else equally ridiculous, but because he loves her, and he wants her to be okay.
When the rift breaks, Dipper’s first priority is to help Mabel, but consider this: So is Stanford’s. They didn’t know where Mabel was - The last time Dipper saw her, she was just running from the shack, and really, she could be anywhere. But if they took out Bill immediately, they would be able to go look for Mabel immediately afterwards, with the knowledge that Bill wouldn’t be able to get to her.
And honestly, the finale is full of Stanford loving Mabel. When the twins defeat all of Bill’s friends, he’s so happy, it’s all congratulations for Dipper and Mabel. He’s so horrified at the idea that Bill would torture those kids, and he did his best to stop him. Have you seen that one post where the kids are being chased by Bill, and Stan is wondering what the fuck to do, but Ford is just screaming and banging on the cage? He was ready to remove all of his personality and memories, to essentially die, just because there was a chance the kids would be safe. And don’t forget the scene at the end where he threatens the bus driver with a gun just so Mabel will be happy because it’s honestly the best.
In summary, Stanford fucking loves this sweet star child so much and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.

I think this shows just how much wille is (unconsciously) dragging simon into his problems.He’s starting to to feel simon could save him from himself and his own feelings, that simon is what he needs to get through this situation which is exactly what is hurting simon so much, he’s losing himself by being what wille needs him to be, but simon wont be the one who save him, wille has to save himself.
i’m torn honestly. there are definitely great things i love about this series, but i do also have a fair amount of issues with certain choices that were made

You know if this is Daniel's last race the thing that really gets me is the horseshit management of Red Bull/VCARB
Checo isn't fast enough. You're in danger of losing your constructors. So you decide you're probably going to put Daniel in the Red Bull seat in the summer. You send messages ahead to the next race to tell people not to put up Checo's promotional images.
Not so fast, Checo's sponsors say, so you leave Perez in the seat and give up on the constructors' because it's easier to get money from sponsorship than to cover the constructors'.
You want more points with VCARB, you say. You want more points but you keep effing up both your drivers with strategy and putting upgrades on the car that make them go backwards.
I know what we'll do, you say. We'll leave Daniel out for the wolves in Singapore and tell media that it isn't his last race until oops, it might be. We haven't told him though, so he can't say a proper goodbye if it is. We'll just hand him one last shit strategy and watch as he swallows it and takes fastest lap to help Max's championship. For shits and giggles we'll kill Yuki's strategy too, for fairness.
But if Daniel's gone after Singapore, what will Red Bull/VCARB do?
Let's see here. You have Checo, who went backwards in Singapore and can't help the constructors. You have Yuki, who's fast on track but can't give feedback well and has trouble keeping his emotions down on track. You have Liam, who's all well and deserving of a VCARB seat but won't be ready for Red Bull until a few years later.
You have nobody. You still haven't solved the problem of Max's teammate after six years. You refuse to let go of Checo, who shouldn't have been here after the summer break. You won't ever take the chance and promote Yuki to see if a stint in a senior team will work out for him. You'll have fired your best development and update feedback driver for your secondary team.
Carlos has gone to Williams. George, which Christian mentioned, won't ever leave Mercedes. Oscar and Lando will stay at McLaren. You asked Alex last year, and Alex laughed in your face.
And Max can no longer win the constructors' by himself in the car you give him.
It started in the summer break. Red Bull took a gun and pointed it in their own faces and slowly pulled back the trigger and it was only until now, six races from the end off the season, that we see what the bullet will do.
Why is Graham spelt like Graham but it's pronounced "Gram".

People in fandoms* associated with Neil Gaiman are not showing each other the grace they should be in a stressful time, and I would like to remind people of some things:
Not everybody knows about the allegations because it is not being reported widely in mainstream media. Gaiman has engaged a PR/crisis management firm that has done work with Marilyn Manson, Russell Brand, and Danny Masterson to actively squash coverage.
The story broke on a site unfamiliar to a lot of non-UK people. There was confusion as well as outright misinformation about whether the site was a TERF outlet (it is not). While Rachel Johnson, the lead reporter on the story, is a TERF who has publicly clashed with Gaiman about trans rights, she has behaved responsibly and ethically as a journalist regarding this. I wrote more in depth about these things here.
Everybody deals differently with finding out creators are problematic. The method you prefer is not the only correct way of coping. Some people are able to divorce art from the creator and some people are not. This is an attitude that can change over time. And if you feel like you need to express frustration that somebody else's method isn't the same as yours? I would recommend shutting your fucking trap.
If people know about the allegations, it's shitty to assume they're ignoring them or think they're false until somebody explicitly says so. There are many things people don't say online, and you are not owed disclaimers or explanations.
Fandom is more than the work itself. Some people find strength in the community that has formed around it, and rely on each other to help cope with and grieve this loss. The love you have for the work and your fellow fans is not something that belongs to the creator. It never has and that can't be taken away.
Your personal relationship with a creator's work will change over time. That's inevitable regardless of whether they turn out to be problematic or not. And when those works are deeply significant and formative, like many of Gaiman's works are to me** and countless others? That's fucking tough. Be kind to yourself and others when working through this. I love you all.
