Dream falling in love with a Nymph who inhabits the deep waters of the Dreaming and they have this beautifully poetic relationship...

To give you another suggestion of the vibe I have in mind, listen to this:

THE SANDMAN S01E10 - "Lost Hearts"

Hob finding a box of kittens in the rain on his way home day? And of course he can't just leave them there so he takes the whole bunch of them back to the New Inn, plans in mind to get them to a vet when the weather clears up and so on.

It's one of those days when Dream stops by unexpectedly so for a moment it's Hob standing in his doorway soaked head to toe - hard to carry the box of kittens and an umbrella at the same time - with equally bedraggled kittens meowing their little heads off while Dream stares at him non-plussed.

And then Hob shoves the box, kittens and all at Dream because Hob hasn't had time to do the grocery shopping for ages? But there should be milk or something else kitten-safe downstairs for them to eat until he can.

"Hello love, mind looking after them for a bit? I'll be right back," with an absent little smooch to Dream's cheek as he rushes out.

It takes longer than Hob's expecting because the whole walking around with a box of kittens thing earlier and therefore kitten-related questions and so on. (The cooking of some chicken they have on hand Because Reasons.)

Hob's concerned Dream might have left by the time he gets back upstairs, and at first he thinks he did because Dream's nowhere in sight?

But then he hears the kittens and follows the noise to his living room to find a bunch of fluffballs - all dry and fluffy and warm - clambering all over a Dream in his Meowpheus form.

Because Reasons.

Just like.

Dream/Meopwpheus being all Majestic and Elegant with these little menaces surrounding him.

One's gnawing on his ear, and other is stalking his tail. There's one already half-asleep tucked up against his chest and one off to the side just.

Screaming little kitten screams for no reason other than they can, apparently?

Hob is just like, "Uh," before he sets what he's carrying down and gets his phone out because come on, how can he let this moment pass undocumented?

Which is how he ends up with so many pictures of Dream covered in kittens he shows absolutely everyone he can while Dream is like *sigh* about it.

Also kitten cuddles and Dream sidling closer and closer to Hob all stealthy like for sneak-cuddles because they haven't quite gotten to the ~confessions of love thing yet?

Something Hob remembers later when he remembers calling Dream 'love' and the absent perck on the cheek and oh God, what has he done??? But then kitten-rearing antics that result in love confessions and everyone lives happily ever after???

(They totally kept at least one of the kittens because it took one look at Dream and decided he was its person, no takes backsies.)

Someone on the Sandman subreddit said there are stars on the lining of Dream’s coat so I had to see for myself. This is from Episode 2, "Imperfect Hosts":

But that's not all. Let's slow it down.

Someone else on the thread pointed out the stars are not exactly moving in tandem with the coat's fabric. It means those are not just star prints; there are actual starry skies within Dream's coat! That is so beautiful and romantic. The amount of details in this show is incredible.

It's amusing that this dude seriously thought mOnEy would somehow placate this obviously otherworldly being who just said he's not calling any "human" agency.

I don’t think I could talk about The Sandman on here because, like, Neil Gaiman is here, just hanging out. I’d be like “Oh, I like how they visualized this one scene, it was different from the comics but I don’t think they original comics visualizations would have worked in live action “ or whatever And then Neil Gaiman might appear like “Yeah, we were having trouble figuring out how to do that scene until one of our production designers had a vivid hallucination while eating a 3AM Gyro purchased from an all-night food truck outside the Bass Pro Shop pyramid” and I don’t think I’m ready for that experience. Alternatively, I could say “Dream is a little too scrungly to be a classic Tumblr Sexyman, but he is prime meow-meow blorbo material” and Neil Gaiman might appear and say “Yeah, we were having trouble figuring out the exact ratio of Sexyman, poor little meow meow, and Blorbo, but the final characterization appeared to Tom Sturridge in a vivid hallucination while eating a 3AM Gyro purchased from an all-night food truck outside the Bass Pro Shop pyramid” and I don’t think I’m ready for THAT either.

He was cradling you to his chest, your face burrowing against the side of his. It wasn’t till now that you registered how pleasant he smelt; more than that, it was intoxicating. There were no words to describe it other than an earthy spice, woodsy and warm, but something sweeter underneath. Blueberries? Blackberries? Gooseberries? You nudged your nose closer to the base of his throat and groaned in bliss, surrendering to the untainted fragrance.

Notes: You guys are asking me SO MUCH more stories with Tom Sturridge, but don't worry I'll do it.

"I can't believe I'm here with You guys" The interviewer says fanning himself with the papers.

"Oh thank you." Y/n says smiling and Tom smiles too.

"Did you meet during the recordings?"

"Oh yeah, maybe you don't know but Y/n was a huge fan of mine you know? I'd even say she was obsessed with me, and it was even hard to make the recordings since she was looking at me all the time." Tom says making Y/n roll her eyes, and the interviewer laughs.

"Don't do that Tom, we all know that's a big lie."

"We know?" Tom says wiggling his eyebrows.

"Do you have any embarrassing moments to remember?" The interviewer asks and they both look thoughtful.

"Oh yes!"

"Y/n please no." Tom says holding Y/n's arm.

"Come on Tom, this is great."

"No, it is not!"

"Shortly after we met, Viviene and I went out for drinks at a little bar, so when Tom arrived he looked at me very surprised and said 'Are you old enough to drink?' That was so funny." Y/n says and Tom laughs remembering the scene.

"Oh come on look at that face!" Tom says pointing to Y/n.

"Tom I'm almost your age!" Y/n laughs and Tom hides his face in his hands.

"Oh my God!" The interviewer says laughing.

"He kept apologizing to me afterwards." Y/n says still laughing and taking Tom's shoulder.

"I personally am addicted to the interaction of your characters." The interviewer says to Y/n and Tom.

"We love our scenes together too." Tom says looking at Y/n.

"And it looks like your fans do too since there are a million edits of you out there."

"Really?" Tom says surprised.

"Yes you would know if you had a phone." Y/n says teasing Tom.

"I have a phone!"

"Yes, let's pretend we believe that."

The rest of the interview went well, with lots of laughs and memes, and when it was finally over, the two said their goodbyes to the interviewer and went backstage.

"Hi kitty come here often?" Tom says coming to Y/n's side with a bottle of water in his hand.

"Only when you're not." Y/n says teasing Tom.

"Ah." Tom says putting his hand on his chest.

They smile and look at each other fondly.

"How many more interviews do we have?" Tom asks taking a sip of water.

"Until we die."

"If it's with you, fine." Y/n pushes on Tom's chest making him laugh.

Tom looks around seeing that everyone is too distracted to pay any attention to them.

"So you…want to go out tonight?" Tom asks awkwardly.

"With whom?" Y/n says teasing him.

"Oh you are a difficult woman I see." Tom says bringing his face closer to Y/n's.

"Only for goths with blue eyes." Y/n says and gives Tom a kiss on the cheek.

Tom smiles and sees Y/n walking away.

"Is that a yes?!" Tom screams.

totally agree with this

I think we need some more tom sturridge fanfiction that isn't morpheus but like his other characters. I must say morpheus hot but Tom's other characters he's played are also pretty cool. Just putting it out there people
