He knows people have a plethora if reasons why someone would commit murder, but he wants too know yours. What brought you to that point, of taking the life of another, were you angry? Vengeful maybe? Perhaps you were owed something and came too collect, he's not sure but he wants too know. With Chuuya, he'll be sad about it, you're not involved in their job and he doesn't want you too be, and this is one of the reasons why. Although Chuuya has a strong sense of loyalty, he also has a pretty strong moral code. Although this won't make him dislike- or even hate you, depending on the reason and who you killed, but he may look at you a little differently for a while.

But when it's ADA!Dazai in the situation of you premeditatedly killing someone, I think that he would give you a different reaction, as opposed to PM!Dazai, again depending on whether you work for the Port Mafia or not, would vary ADA!Dazais reaction. Simply because, and this is assuming you met ADA!Dazai after he left the Port Mafia, and Chuuya depending on if this a poly or not. But if you did meet him after he left the Port Mafia and you committed this murder, he'd use his position too protect you, but he'd also want too know why you did it. If you accidentally murdered somebody though, PM!Dazai, in my opinion, wouldn't care and I say that simply because, he, himself, has stated that he's not a virtuous person; meaning that he is someone who habitually does wrong to his own detriment and takes pleasure in it and he also, very obviously, lacks a moral compass. I think he'd be more intrigued about what about lead up to the murder, instead of the murder itself. i cannot stop thinking abt the idea of fyodor being previously married long ago, living on the outskirts of russia, truly in love with his wife. but ofc something happens. she gets murdered, or he outlives her, etc. so he spends the rest of his life looking for her reincarnations. the first time is a shock, immediately recognizing her quirks and attitude. but she doesnt remember him in that life. no matter how hard he tries. then the search is on. ofc his mission takes him wide and far, but he’s fyodor. sometimes he finds her, other times he doesnt. she never remembers him. except in this life… where a chance meeting at a coffeehouse, bonding over ‘his’ pumpkin stew (it was originally her recipe) on a snowy winters day, the light in his eyes glints just right, so utterly in love with his previous wife… and it clicks for her. she remembers. she remembers him, their love, their life together. all those meetings. how he must love her… but. theres one problem. the ring on her finger. in this life, she’s been happily married for three years, by a sweet man, who takes such good care of her. someone she does truly love.

Ooooh tea!!!! Fyodor would kill Dazai, and I'm being so serious when I say that. He'd. Kill. Him. This woman that he's been in love with for centuries, his everything is with Dazai, Dazai of all people?!?! He's quite disgusted, he's such a down-grade in Fyodors eyes. This isn't a contest too win you over, this is Fyodor coming too collect what is rightfully his, what belongs to him. This will end in nothing but blood-shed, and really, this is all your choice, but doesn't really matter who you choose because the other will not relent. If you choose Dazai because of how long you've been married for and you're happy in this relationship, Fyodor will be waiting around every corner too take you back with him and if you choose Fyodor because again, the wide range of history that you have with him... you'll just be adding more fuel to the fire that is Dazais want too keep you with him. I can't really think of a situation where you'll still have freedom. Because, if it was anyone else, they'd have no problem getting rid of that threat but... it's not. They competing against someone that is able too predict their movements to a "t" and they don't like that, not one bit and you'll be caught in the crossfire, no matter who you choose or where you go, the other will not let you go.

Dazai is, to most, an enigma. 

His true feelings and motivations stay locked in a safe, so much so that even he forgets who he really is at times. Those who tried breaking open the safe were laughably unsuccessful. There have been those he tricked into thinking they really knew him, only to be left alone in the dark. 

But you didn’t try, you didn’t judge, you trusted him. An unwavering trust Dazai had only ever felt from one other person in his life. It took time, and patience, but eventually Dazai simply handed you the key. He allowed you to finally look inside that infinitely brilliant and broken mind of his. 

You place your mug of tea on the ring-stained coffee table before taking a seat amongst the cushions on the couch. You pull out your phone, deciding to indulge in a while of mindless scrolling. You rhythmically swipe and and sip your tea, late afternoon sunbeams lighting up the room. 

A while passes, the sun almost entirely disappearing over the horizon, when the front door clicks open. You smile softly as Dazai wanders in, kicking off his shoes and shrugging off his coat. He greets you with a tired grin, “I’ve missed you today darling.”

You scoot up to give him room to sit beside you, “Looks like you had a rough day, wanna talk about it?” 

He shakes his head, “Not particularly, no.” He glances down at you, a playful glint in his eyes, “But I know what I do want.”

Before you can ask, Dazai unceremoniously flops down on top of you, making you screech. You want to scold him for scaring you, but his gleeful laughter stops you. He buries his face against your neck, leaving a soft kiss against your skin. You weave your fingers through his hair and tug softly, fingertips softly rubbing into his scalp. He lets out a long, slow breath, his body fully relaxing against yours. 

“You’re far too good for me.” He mumbles.

“Don’t talk like that, Osamu.” you flick his ear softly.

He gasps loudly, “I never thought my dear beloved would resort to physical abuse! I take it back, you're terrible.”

You chuckle and roll your eyes, “Says the one who pinned me down and tickled me for five minutes until I nearly peed myself.”

Dazai starts laughing again, almost obnoxiously loud. In fact, you’re almost sure if anyone else heard him they would think he is obnoxious. But to you, his laughter, his smile, his jokes, and even his dramatics are worth the world. You’ll never understand why he chose you, why he handed you the precious key, but you’ll always be grateful that he did.

“Hey Osamu?”

To most, Osamu Dazai is an enigma. The man is notoriously hard to read, one can never know what he’s thinking.

“What is it darling?”

Even so, one look into his tired brown eyes and you know; you can hear his thoughts loud and clear.

“I love you.”

But you can’t deny, it feels indescribably wonderful when you get to hear him say it.

“I love you more.”
