Winter Whumperland Day 3: George Bailey (We've lost everything we've had!"
Fandom: Star Wars The Bad Batch
Summary: After the events of season two, Echo talks to Phee on Pabu
Phee hadn't expected to only see three people get off the Marauder. In fact she didn't expect to see the Marauder so soon. It was too soon.
"Where's Brown eyes and the kid?" She asked.
Wrecker tried to answer but looked like he might cry. Echo stood in front of her but Hunter bet him to it. "Techs gone and Omega was taken."
"Gone? Taken? What?" Phee hadn't expected that. She was unsure of what to say now.
"He's dead. Empire took her." Echo spoke. He looked down and realized she had probably already known what that meant.
"Do you know anything about where she could have been taken?" Phee tried to stay calm. She had really liked Tech. Actually she had liked him a lot. Now he was gone, without so much as a warning.
"No." Hunter walked passed her and to a set of stairs. "I'll be back."
Wrecker walked over to Echo and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Me too. I'm going to find Shep, fill him in." Then he walked away.
Echo just stood there with Phee. He wasn't sure what to do anymore.
"It's going to be okay." Phee tried to assure him.
"We've lost everything we've had! We've lost our home, our purpose, our brothers, our employer! It doesn't seem like it's going to be 'okay'!" Echo started to pace a little.
"You have each other."
"Really? Because I'm pretty sure Tech's in the bottom of a ravine, Omega and Crosshair are who knows where, and Hunter and Wrecker have gone off on their own too! That doesn't seem like we have each other!"
Phee took a step back, stunned. "Don't you have your rebel friend? Or anyone else? Maybe some you knew from before?" She tried.
"Rex is too busy. The rest are dead, they are all dead. I told you, we've lost everything." Echo stopped and stood in front of her. He tried to keep tears from falling down his face. "I've lost everything but them. I can't-" his voice broke, "I can't lose them too."
"Oh honey." Phee moved and hung Echo. "You won't. We'll find her okay? Reach out to your friend, Rex right? Call him. Even if you just talk to him. It might help."
"Maybe you're right." Echo raised his scomp up and commed Rex. He spoke with him for a while before he started to feel better. Rex told him he would be there to help find Omega and Crosshair and that he was sorry about Tech.
The cyborg walked back up to Phee when he was done. She had made herself a cup of Tech's favorite tea and had sat in the chair by the beach he had called his.
"You know, you're not the only one who has lost something."
Echo hadn't expected to hear her say that. He stood beside her as she started to talk.
"Why do you think I'm here? I love this place but I didn't always have a place here. I didn't lose my family exactly the same way, at least not all of them. I thought that Tech was finally getting the hint but, I guess we'll never know." Echo looked down before looking back at her.
"I know. I'm sorry. I just- there's only so much you can deal with before you have to tell someone. I shouldn't have blown up at you I just, can't do another death." Echo sat beside the chair, ignoring the one he could have sat in on the other side of Phee.
"I understand, just try to be calmer next time?"
"Hopefully there won't be a next time."
Phee smiled softly, "your right. Let's hope. Now we should probably find the other two parts of you."

Every now and then I suddenly remember the fact that TBB gave us the beginnings of a sweet romance between a woman of colour and an openly autistic man and then they killed one of them

* when Lucy gets his first crush and asks for advice *
Arthur : just be yourself
Lucy : "be myself"? Dad I have one day to win my crush over. How long did it take before you guys started liking me ?
Linus : couple weeks
Phee : six months
Talia : jury's still out
Lucy : see, dad? " Be myself". What kind of garbage advice is that?
Oh my god. Yes. I love it.

This fic is hot AF. 🥵
There is just not enough Tech/Phee smut out there.
Ah, this is finally done~! I originally wanted to post this for Valentine's Day...yeah.
This is pure Techphee filth - there were, surprisingly, no sex pollen fics for them. So I had to change that, because I find that trope to be *chefs kiss*
Many thanks to @honeykiwis for beta'ing and @niobiumao3 for proofreading.

Additional prompt: "Can you braid my hair?"
I thought this would be interesting with tech and Phee.
Tech lives!
I commissioned some art from @luxris from a short scene mentioned in my fic where Tech lives and comes home to Pabu after Tantiss. This is my fic where Tech is not CX-2, but he still goes through a lot to come home and builds himself a hoverchair. Thank you so much for making this! I love how comfortable and in love they are!

They gave us all this, and for what?
So people could drop insane takes about how Phee was abusing Tech? How Phee was disrespectful to the Batch? How Phee was a bad person who hated children?
Yes, I will die mad unless they fix it.

I'm not good at editing images but I can't get over this screenshot. Tech is normally the one with his hand on the shoulder of someone he cares for and seeing Phee with her hand on his shoulder gives me all the feels. And then he holds her and they fly through the air.

Eventually
Tech x Phee Genoa
Warnings: some more TechPhee fluff, discussion of Crosshair's character and role in CF99, mild alcohol (wine) consumption, implications of and references to sexual relations and therefore I'm labeling this fic as Mature and 18+, but nothing is explicit

“He isn’t as bad as their stories make him seem,” Tech murmured.
Phee chuckled a little as she walked back to the sofa she’d practically pushed him onto, a glass of wine in each hand. “Whatever you say, Brown Eyes,” she smiled, handing him a glass.
He took a sip of it. “Crosshair has always been severe and unyielding, but he’s still our brother.”
Phee looked up at him, noting the furrow of his brows. “He means a lot to you, huh?” she chuckled. “Tell me more about him.”
Tech’s eyes finally met hers, finding that they were full of sincerity. He nodded once and she smiled reassuringly.
“When we were young, Crosshair was rather quiet. He still can be- or at least he could be; I’m unsure if his time with the Empire has changed that trait. Regardless, he was nearly decommissioned because the long-necks and the trainers actually believed him to be mute. However-”
Phee listened to him talk about his lost brother. As he got further into their adventures - and further into his drink - the stories became more and more endearing, despite the attitude problem Phee had made note of.
“He always did his best to protect us. I think he enjoyed being a sniper, but when we were cadets he told me that he didn’t like being apart from the rest of us so frequently. So when we actually hit the field, he would watch us from whatever perch he’d find himself on-”
“Like a guardian angel,” Phee finished, a fond smile pulling at her lips.
Tech had to mentally admonish himself for paying too close attention to her lips.
“I suppose one could characterize him in that way,” he nearly whispered. His cheeks felt hot. That was odd.
“Would you?”
She was so close to him. She was nearly on top of him. When had they gotten so close?
“Would I…?”
Her eyes were locked onto his. He couldn’t look away if he wanted to. Luckily, he found he didn’t want to.
She laughed, clearly finding amusement in the way his mind seemed to be failing him. “Would you characterize him that way?”
“I,” he hesitated. He was certain the alcohol in his system was influencing the sentence he was barely holding back. “I would prefer not to think of my brothers at this moment.”
She moved impossibly closer. Tech felt his breath still in his chest.
“Is there something you’d prefer to think of, Brown Eyes?”
The scent of her perfume swirled around him, flooding his senses with her.
“I…would prefer not to think as much.”
He hoped she understood. Maker, he hoped she understood.
His hopes were met as she finally - finally - pressed her lips against his.
About a million things flashed through his mind, and he felt like it would promptly shut down, replaced with her scent, her feel, her sight, her.
She pulled away and he fought the disappointed grumble that rose in his throat.
“Tech?” she whispered after a long moment. Somehow, his name sounded almost pretty coming from her. She didn’t use his name very often, but that didn’t bother him much.
“Hmm?” was the only answer he could formulate.
Phee snorted. “Eloquent,” she smirked. “Your comm pinged a lot. Should you check it?”
Reality washed over him again like the waves he was beginning to hear from the open window.
“Yes, I suppose I should,” he sighed, pulling up his datapad to scan over the messages he hadn’t heard arrive.
A few from Omega, one from Hunter, but most were from an unspecified source on a very secure channel. Echo.
He read through the messages quickly.
“Do you need to go?” Phee asked. He could tell that she was trying to mask the disappointment in her voice. He hated the idea of disappointing her.
“Yes…eventually,” he breathed. “I will not be needed until it is time for Omega’s flying lesson.”
“Wh-”
“Tomorrow… afternoon.”
Her smirk was the last thing he saw as she nearly tackled him.

Me going into the season: NO ROMANCE I DON'T WANT ANY ROMANCE IN THIS SHOW ONLY FOUND FAMILY
Me after seeing Tech and Phee in this episode: I guess we can have a little romance... as a treat 💖
“Tech told me all about your…SPARKLING personality” I wanna know what Tech told Phee about Crosshair that made her so confidently sarcastic in that moment, like
Tech: oh yes, our brother Crosshair. Best sniper in the GAR, possibly the galaxy. He always kept an eye on us through his scope while we were on the battlefield.
Phee: that’s ni—
Tech: sure, he is cold and unyielding and incredibly stubborn and a little arrogant, but he always means well. He does like to pick fights with regs, but you can’t blame him, after being bullied all his life.
Phee: I guess we all have our—
Tech: there was that time where he got super upset with Hunter for not murdering that Jedi on Kaller. Then he tried to convince us to murder civilians. But he abandoned us for the Empire after that, so it wasn’t really a repeating problem.
Phee: wait—
Tech: that was when he shot Wrecker. Oh, and he tried to roast us alive in a spaceship engine. That was all under the influence of the inhibitor chip, though. Supposedly he’s had it removed since then. So his murderous tendencies have probably chilled out a little bit.
Phee:
Tech: he also used to eat glue.
Tech would never use the phrase “sparkling personality” so I wonder what descriptors he used for Phee come to that conclusion herself.
What stories did he tell to drag Crosshair through the mud. I must know
