A lot of you know me as PhoenixRose314, Tumblr's fandom mom and ineffable author of Don't Fall Away From Me and There Is A Light & It Never Goes Out. This fandom has been such a source of joy for me and has kept me going through some really difficult and dark times, but right now my world is absolutely falling apart.
Through circumstances beyond my control (health reasons - cancer and anxiety and depression), I was let go from my job a few months ago and my children and I can no longer afford to rent our lovely home in our lovely village. This has been incredibly hard for me to accept but once my lease is up I will have run out of savings and my kids and I will no longer have a place to call our own.
I am famously awful at asking for help, however this amazing fandom has convinced me to start this crowdfunder to try and raise enough money to try and buy a small park home or caravan for myself and the kids. It won't be much, but it will be ours, and nobody can take it away from us. I'm currently in the process of selling all my collectibles, furniture and worldly goods to try and raise some of the money myself, but anything you could donate to give my family some stability would be appreciated from the very bottom of my heart.

I can't believe that you've managed to get the crowdfunder up to almost £9000 already! My family and I are absolutely blown away by your kindness and generosity, especially at a time that's not been easy for any of us. It just goes to show that this is the heart of what this fandom is, love, and nobody can take that away from us.
ANYWAY
This is my 11 year old nonbinary kiddo, Finley:

So six weeks ago this happened (I cannot for the life of me remember context):
And now - after six weeks of constant messaging, video chats so long our phones gave up before we did, and the most inept, ridiculous, blustering attempts at flirting known to humankind - I am so freaking proud and happy and excited and awed and amazed to say that neither of us belong in that club anymore.
@pannotbread was very brave and asked me to be her girlfriend and, after I'd finished blushing and stammering, I said yes 🥰
I am grateful to @maaikeatthefullmoon for recommending UTSS, because as soon as I read it I knew I had to talk to the person behind it: they wrote about love, loneliness and longing in the exact same way I did, it felt almost like reading my own heart in fragments. And then as soon as we started talking, we were writing essays, punctuated with "omg me too!" and "Yes, you get it!" - within days I knew I was, as my Crowley would say, utterly fucked.
Six weeks from being sure I was dying alone, to suddenly and completely unexpectedly feeling seen, understood, and cared for in ways that scrape me to the bone.
I adore this human with my whole heart and although we don't have an easy or conventional road ahead of us, I am just so freaking grateful for her, for her huge heart and bravery, her glorious bastard streak and delicious sense of humour, and a smile that never fails to knock me for six. It's more than I could ever have dared to hope for.
And, in related news, we might be working on a top secret project together, too... (also grateful for helping me find my joy in writing again)

Phoenix & Pan's Good Omens Meetup
Saturday 5th October 2024
Greetings, beloved ineffable fandom!
On Saturday 5th October, @pannotbread and I will be in London (having seen Michael in White Rabbit, Red Rabbit the night before) and would love to host a Good Omens meet up!
Provisional plan thus far is to meet up in St James Park around midday, bring a light picnic if weather is good, take photos and be generally insane near The Bench, then head over to Sky Garden (the setting for Heaven and full of plants to yell at) for more photos ops and drinks at the bar overlooking London. In the evening, we were thinking of heading into Soho for sushi dinner and then we were going to hire a karaoke room for singing and cocktails!
Obviously because of the nature of the day we'd need to book (and pay for) stuff in advance, so right now I'm just trying to get an idea of levels of interest - so let me know if you'd be interested in coming, to some or all of it!
Please give us a wave in the comments if you are able to come so we know who to make arrangements with!
Pan and I promise to be on our best behaviour and keep the heart-eyes to a minimum (at least until the cocktails, then I cannot be held responsible for what my face does around them, lol). We are both so excited and hope that some of you lovely folks can make it!

Yay congratulations!!
Well today I got approved to begin a fully funded course, studying Counselling Skills, and a friend of mine has already said that once I've qualified she'd happily interview me for a remote-working position at her charity that works with struggling LGBTQ+ teens and young adults who've been estranged from their families.
And I never would've done any of this without all of you.
Life sometimes unfolds in strange and unexpected directions, and not long ago I thought my life was as good as over. I was too physically unwell to continue being an early years teacher (it's a much more physical job than people realise), my career of 15 years was at a sudden and bitter end, and my life seemed to have no meaning, just an endless stretch of medical rubbish interspersed with pain, and waiting.
Then I started handing out mama hugs on Tumblr during Pride Month. Then, the occasional ask from an anxious teen turned into several a week... then Neil left the fandom and I started getting half a dozen asks a day. And it's been as wonderful as it has been terrifying, hoping I'm helping but worrying I'm not doing enough, knowing I'm not remotely qualified to help but just here to hand out empathy and support when needed.
Now it looks like I'll be turning this random chain of events into a career, and once again I have this wonderful fandom to thank.
It feels exciting to be starting over at the grand old age of 39, chasing a new dream, one I feel passionate about, one I feel I could really be good at with the right support and structure. Because it's never too late to choose a different path, to find a new dream, to feel a new spark ignite.
Thank you to every person who fell into my inbox, you have shone the light for me in my times of darkness, and now I can see the way forward.

Hello beloved ineffable fandom 💜
It has been just over 24 hours since I swallowed my pride and posted my Crowdfunder to try and keep my kids and I off the streets.
In that time, I have cried a spectacular amount, because never in a million years could I have imagined the outpouring of love from people I have never even met, or the sheer generosity of a fandom who are going through a really terrible time this week. And it's not just the donations that have reduced me to tears, but the amount of reblogs of my original post, some of the tags and comments and things you said about me and my writing... yep I've been an absolute emotional wreck. I will never ever be able to thank you or repay you for your kindness.
Thanks to YOU (yes not just the people that donated, but the wonderful amazing people who reblogged and spread the word), 40% of the total has already been raised in just one day!
