A question for people against abortion:

Do you think a world where abortion is not practiced at all is possible? And what would that world look like to you?

Genuine question, no hostility.

Does anyone else read anti-abortion posts in a condesending, mother-knows-best tone?

serious question

What do pro-lifers think of the millions of embryos discarded every year from fertility clinics? These embryos are considered alive and most likely could be carried to term however they’re being thrown away just like fetal tissue from surgical abortions. Where’s the outrage? Why aren't they protesting fertility clinics?

Inspiration from Today's Office of Readings (Wednesday, 18th Week of Ordinary Time)

From a letter attributed to Barnabas (Cap. 19, 1-3. 5-7. 8-12: Funk 1, 53-57)

The way of light

Consider now the way of light; any man who is bent on reaching his appointed goal must be very careful in all he does. Now these are the directions that have been given to us for this journey: love your Creator; reverence your Maker; give glory to him who redeemed you when you were dead; be single-minded but rich in spiritual treasure; avoid those who travel down death’s highway; hate whatever is displeasing to God; detest all hypocritical pretense; do not abandon God’s commandments. Do not put on airs, but be modest whatever you do; claim no credit for yourself. Plot no evil against your neighbor, and do not give pride an entrance into your heart.

Love your neighbor more than your own life. Do not kill an unborn child through abortion, nor destroy it after birth. Do not refrain from chastising son or daughter, but bring them up from childhood in the fear of the Lord. Do not set your heart on what belongs to your neighbor and do not give in to greed. Do not associate with the arrogant but cultivate those who are humble and virtuous.

Accept as a blessing whatever comes your way in the knowledge that nothing ever happens without God’s concurrence. Avoid duplicity in thought or in word, for such deception is a deadly snare.

Share with your neighbor whatever you have, and do not say of anything, this is mine. If you both share an imperishable treasure, how much more must you share what is perishable. Do not be hasty in speech; the mouth is a deadly snare. For your soul’s good, make every effort to live chastely. Do not hold out your hand for what you can get, only to withdraw it when it comes to giving. Cherish as the apple of your eye anyone who speaks to you of the word of the Lord.

Night and day you will bear in mind the hour of judgment; every day you will seek out the company of God’s faithful, either by preaching the word, earnestly exhorting them, ever considering how you can save souls by your eloquence, or else by working with your hands to make reparation for your past sins.

Never hesitate to give, and when you do give, never grumble; then you will know the one who will repay you. Preserve the traditions you have received, adding nothing and taking nothing away. The evildoer will ever be hateful to you. Be fair in your judgments. Never stir dissension, but act as peacemaker and reconcile the quarrelsome. Confess your sins, and do not begin to pray with a guilty conscience. Such then is the way of light.

God Is Never Deaf Or Blind To Our Pain & Our Suffering. But We Are Often Deafen And Blind Ourselves To

God is never deaf or blind to our pain & our suffering.  But we are often deafen and blind ourselves to the pain & suffering he experienced upon the Cross.  He suffered in order to pay the debt of sin that we cannot pay ourselves, he died to conquer Death & free us from its clutches, and rose from the dead that we may instead rise to Eternal Life.

Praise the Lord, even (and especially) in moments of pain & anguish, for all the good he has done for you, and share this most precious gift of faith with your loved ones.  God bless you all

The Toleration Of Abortion Is Our Most Shameful Failure As A Civilization.

The toleration of abortion is our most shameful failure as a civilization.

There is no such thing as a right to intentionally end innocent life.  Without life, we have nothing - yet there are some individuals who been denied everything before getting to experience anything.

The CDC reports that at least 629,898 abortions were performed in the US 2019.  629,898 people never got the chance to experience happiness, to experience love, or have their rights acknowledged.

For comparison, the 2020 Wyoming census reported a population of 576,851 - we would be horrified if the entire population of Wyoming suddenly dropped dead.  Yet more lives than that were silently extinguished without our notice in 2019 alone.

We must continue to fight for a culture of life, which extends not only to the child, but to the mother as well.  11.4 out of 1,000 women obtained an abortion in 2019.  85% of those were unmarried.  Women must be supported, especially in difficult circumstances.  We must make every effort to give every woman the courage, confidence, and resources to accept the gift of new life inside her.  Pro Life does not simply mean saying "no" to a woman's desire to obtain an abortion, it is empowering them to say "yes" to the responsibility & challenge of bringing new life into the world.

Success in this mission does not stop at outlawing abortion.  It does not stop at even at 0 abortions performed per year.  It stops when we eliminate the desire to reject and degrade life, and to recognize life for the precious gift it is.

Hello hello everyone, I wanted to take some time to quickly introduce myself, I am Thia, I am a survivor of the Chinese femicide and the One-Child Policy, which was done away with in 2016. I was adopted back in January of 2004 and have been in the U.S since then. I do not remember much of my birth place, only that I ended up in the orphanage at 6 weeks, which is a little unique as most are placed immediately into an orphanage or killed. I was lucky enough to simply end up in the orphanage, instead of being abandoned in a box or killed. I have grown up knowing that I survived infanticide, I have always known that I was left behind by my birth family because of the One-Child Policy, and they wanted a son. I had no voice then, and I had no one to speak for me, so I want to be the voice to those who cannot speak.

China has always had terrible history of infanticide committed against Chinese girls. Some 30 million baby girls were abandoned, drowned, poisoned, left in a box, in an alley, the dumpster, they were left for dead. You name it someone had been driven by desperation to do it. And not only were many killed after birth, so many more where aborted when technology caught up and scans could indicate the sex of the baby. Abortion, legal or not, is painful for the baby, it is cruel and should never be an option to throw around as an alternative because someone does not want a child. Abortion is child murder and there is no other way to word it, there is no softening the blow of what abortion truly is, it is murder.

Or ...

The Federation may consider abortion an act of murder since they value all forms of life, and have improved healthcare, welfare, and childcare services to the point that every child will be cared for regardless of circumstance.

Or ...

Star Trek is supposed to be a utopian, egalitarian future and there's no gender equality without reproductive equality.... Ergo, your favorite Star Trek doctor performs abortions regularly and probably feels no particular way about it because Federation society at that point is past stigmatizing the procedure.

"Abortion is intentional killing"

Nope, an abortion is the termination of a pregnancy through the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus, specifically before it is viable.

ALL miscarriages are abortions.

Not all abortions are miscarriages.

That definition only applies in pro abort spaces because pro aborts deny science. Science has proven that life begins at conception. You’re killing a child when you get an abortion.

That child isn’t a parasite.

That child can feel pain.

That child is alive.

And that child doesn’t deserve to be dismembered and poisoned because of the actions of its parent(s).

All life matters.

All life is beautiful.

Everyone deserves the chance to breath air and feel the wind touch their skin.

Everyone deserves the chance to live, even if it’s short, special needs, male, female, or perfectly healthy.

Child Support is a matter of 'support for the child' which involves what is needed to 'support' a 'child'. Clothes, food, education, etc ... To get an idea of what a child would need, the child would need to be born first in case the child has special needs beyond the usual expenses.

A child must be born first in a country to get citizenship. This way, one could have a child be born in a first-world country and get access to first-world luxury. A child would still need to be born first though.

If you want to insure against miscarriage, I'm fairly certain you'd insure the mother. Child insurance can only come after the child is born.

Ultimately, killing the child off before birth harms the mother and brings no benefit for the woman who wishes it. Hurting yourself to spite others is a foolish way to do things.

I think women choose to hurt themselves because victimhood is the only way to get what they want in a world that has already given them what they need.

They want more than the world is able to give, and throw tantrums because their body is the only thing the noose of their attention span is long enough to strangle.

Bonhoeffer, writing in Weimar Germany, talks about how one can live a comfortable, secular, Bourgeoisie life whilst still being respectable and 'Christian'!

Not so anymore! There is much secularism must answer for, but I will say this in its defence - it will eradicate the normal, respectable, dead Christian. "Churchianity", cultural Christianity, and nominalism are all dying rapid deaths amidst secularisms' derision, lies, mockery, and cultural persecution.

More and more these days, if someone tells you openly they are a Christian they bloody well mean it.

Praise God!
