Punk Community - Tumblr Posts
Awwwww thanks so much, needed to hear that. I'm so glad to have you in this community and very thankful that I have the privilege to be a part of it, too. Even if we don't always see eye to eye or fight side by side, punks (and alt people in general) are family; because we're all chasing a just future and embracing the oddities of ourselves and others around us. It's a beautiful thing.
I'm passing @when-you-cant-think-of-anything's message on to @catboy-ptsd and @oncealoseralwaysaloser as well.
You guys rock.

My dear mutuals,
Please treat yourselves kindly today/tomorrow if it’s nighttime ! I love you and want you to go get a drink of water and a little heathy snack, if you haven’t already done both. You’re amazing and important if not to yourself then too someone else (me).
I have no idea how I got any of you but I will die for all of you <3

Amen. And can we stop harassing people for not being "punk enough" in general? It's almost as if, in order to be part of any community, you're expected to be the most extreme version to qualify to use the term or something. There's people in this culture still learning and there's people in this culture who agree with some aspects and disagree with others and that should be okay- ESPECIALLY in punk culture. Punk is literally based on being weird, not fitting in, and ACCEPTANCE of those oddities. You'd think if any culture wouldn't gatekeep, it would be us. YET SOMEHOW its one of the most elitist riddled groups of people I've seen! It's wild!
Hm. Might make a longer rant on this later.
Ngl I think one major problem is that people on here and online in general seem to think that patches always have to be punk and they.... Don't
Punk doesn't own patches, people can make them of anything they want.
Just because somebody is making a patch doesn't mean they're a part of the subculture.
Making patches is literally just a form of art like any other
Stop harassing people over their patches not being "punk enough" because for starters that isn't a thing and that might not even be their intention anyways
Not sure if I have enough followers to do this, but doing it anyway.
To the internet "punk" elitists:
Let's stop arguing about what's punk and what isn't and just be ourselves.
THAT'S the truest form of punk rock.
The scene has changed so much since the 70s, becoming needlessly strict and gatekeeping. It begs the question: has the definition of the scene itself changed over the years or have the types of people in it changed? My vote is the second. There's so many bigoted arguments and extremist definitions that I'm not even sure if there IS a true definition anymore unless we stick with the ogs.
Point is, just be yourself. Listen to the music, rebel, have firm beliefs and stop giving a damn. You'll be a punk ass in my book.
Welcome to the fam.
This happens to me so much at work. Toddlers and babies love the spikes. Always want to poke em or ask how sharp they are or ask what they are in general or what I do with them. Oftentimes it's obviously their first time seeing an alternative person. So cute to see their mom try and explain it to them...
Most memorable time was a little girl. She was probably about six years old, dressed like any other small child, going on about my spikes, so I let her touch them. Her mom said "I have a blossoming goth on my hands; she loves everything spooky." I recommended that the mother play some goth rock for the kid sometime and see what she thinks.
Another time I had an older woman come through; a regular that I rarely spoke to. She told me that, upon asking her eleven year old granddaughter what she wanted for Christmas, the girl responded "You know that lady from [MY WORKPLACE] with the cool spikey things on her arms? I want some of those!" The grandmother asked me where I got mine.
Those two instances are few of many. The innocent, non judgemental perspective of children will never cease to amaze me. It is one we should all learn from.
I love doing my part ushering in the new generation of lovely, alternative freaks 🖤

What band is considered the best folk punk group of all time?
Not necessarily your favorite, but the overall best in your opinion or in the opinion of the general community or both. I must know.
Can someone PLEASE give me band reccomendations for vibes similar to msi and grlwood that like aren't fuckin problematic? I need music please
