Pairing: Rise!Donnie X Reader
Reader: Gender-neutral pronouns used. Mostly mentions. Few actual appearances.
Genre: Dramatic Fluff & Humor
Warning: Not proofread? I was in a hurry to get the argument part in.

âTheyâve been avoiding me April!â Donatello complained, falling back on his chair while covering his face in dread. âI donât understand. What went wrongâ what is it did I do wrong?â
âAre you for real? Thatâs what you called me in for?â April crossed her arms. â(Name)âs probably just a bit shy around you.âÂ
âOh the naĂŻvetĂ©, it is never that simple.â He shook his head. âI hadnât detected any signs of discomfort a couple of weeks ago. Then, suddenly, they donât even respond to my texts until 48 hours 20 minutes later!
In fact,â the soft-shelled turtle slouched over, grumbling, âthey decided to see another guy for calculus tutoring.â
April raised her eyebrow. âHow did you even knowâ?â âAnd heâs not close to having the brains like I do!â As per usual during his rambling, Donnie ignored the question.Â
She rolled her eyes.
âDon, you gotta calm down.â April placed her hand on his shoulder. âMaybe theyâve got a crush on you too, and they donât know how to tell you that. They do owe you an explanation thoughâŠ.â
âHah, sure, give me false hope that theyâll returnâ.â
âOh no. Donât you dare switch up on that cocky attitude of yours from just a second ago.â April hushed him. âLook, Donnie, if it bothers you so much, Iâ.â
Donnie slammed his hands on his armrests and sat upright.Â
ââcan secretly get (Name) to reveal their thoughts to you, while wearing a camera I can attach to you?â
âWait what, I never saidâ!â
âI thought youâd never say so!â
Aprilâs eyes widened. âHold up, Iâm not about to put (Name) on the spot like that! What if they say something that they donât want you to hear?â
âIgnorance is bliss, April, they wonât have to know.â
âWell, for one, Don, Iâm not that close to them. We donât have any classes together. Also, I donât wanna creep them out by asking personal stuff out of nowhere!â she said. âAre you trying to embarrass me!?âÂ
He groaned. âAll right, I give in! Just at least ask them howâre theyâre doing before I start chewing on my tech-bo.â
â
âAt least I got something to entertain myself in school for once,â April muttered to herself, hiding behind one of the beams. âBut I donât see (Name) around, not with so many kids in the hall.â The camera on her glasses blinked. âSeriously, how much money does this school want?â
âApril, over there by the lockersâ. Who the hell is that?âÂ
April glanced to where Donnie mentioned. You were talking with a guy in a basketball uniform and cap. Oh boy, she could hear the bitterness through her earpiece.
âSo, this must be her new, pathetic calculus tutor. Really, a guy in gym shorts?â
âDon, I can hear your muttering. And quit trash-talking about (Name)âs choice in tutors.â
âWhatever,â he scoffed, burning holes into the guyâs head when you started to smile with him. âLet me activate the human identification program based on your schoolâs database, so Iâ I meanâ we could get a name.âÂ
Donnie paused for a moment. âAlthough, he does seem oddly familiarâ.â
Aprilâs eyes widened. âHold up, is that Leo?â
Donnie monotonously replied, âHa, thatâs funny, April. Leonardo would never go to a school willinglyâ.â The student turned around, revealing the red markings on his green face. Not just that, his own program flashed a message in red.Â
[ ERROR! NOT HUMAN ]Â
â...â
Donnie fell off his chair, choking.Â
April immediately touched her earpiece. âDon! You good back there?!â
âOf course not! Why the hell is Leo in your school!?â
He grimaced even more at the sight of you laughing (more like chuckling) alongside his oh-so opposite brother. âApril, quick, get closer to them without being noticed!â Donnie commanded. âI demand answers!â
âI thought our plan is to talk to them, not eavsdrop!âÂ
âHey, plans change when it is necessaryâŠ. It-is-necessary, and Iâm paying you twenty bucks for this!âÂ
April facepalmed in embarrassment. She snuck closer in, turning her head away so you and Leo wouldnât recognize her. There, while the camera couldnât catch your faces, its microphone did pick up on your conversation better.Â
âIâm thankful I can count on you, Leon.â They could hear you sigh. âCalculus is taking up so much time, and my tutor isnât being helpful..â
âAnything for mi amigue.â The red-earred slider grinned, leaning on the lockers.Â
Donnie frowned. He didnât want to question it, but.. were you feeling more comfortable with his brother than him..?
Then, Leo coughing brought Donnie back from his thoughts. âI do got something to ask you, though, (Name).â The soft-shelled turtle narrowed his eyes at how Leo rubbed his neck nervously. Worry was bubbling inside.Â
âYou said homecomingâs coming up soon, right?â
It piqued everyoneâs interest. âIn a week, I mean, there are posters everywhere for it. Why.. do you ask?â
ââŠYou donât have a date yet, do you?â
April gasped, covering her mouth.
That was it. Donnieâs heart dropped.
Suddenly, the microphone lost focus on you two. Instead, the hostâs heavy breathing was heard. Donnieâs camera was shaking up a lot, making him panic.Â
âHey hey hey! Theyâre not done talking yet, April! I need to know what their answer is!â
âDaleâs coming my way!â she exclaimed, shuffling between other students. âAnd Iâm not about to get asked out to homecoming by him again!âÂ
Not long after, Donnieâs camera disconnected. He sat there in shock⊠until he clutched his head. âNo, no, no! This shouldnât be happening!âÂ
Questions ran through his brain. It wasnât adding up: how could Leonardo like you too? You and he had no common interests! Why did it have to be him out of everyone else!?Â
âAHRGH!â Donnie groaned, slamming his head against his desk. Then, he stood up from his chair, storming out while punching numbers into his phone. âThatâs it! Iâm going to have a civil discussion with this traitor!â
â
A tennis racket flew across the room.
âDon, Donnie, I know what youâre going to say, but I promiseâ OOMPH!â Leo was knocked hard in the face by a thrown tennis ball.
âYou!â Donnie snapped, picking up another one. âYou traitor! You knew I like (Name), yet you proceeded to ask them to this homecoming dance anyway!â The red-eared slider dodged the second throw.Â
âIs that why you randomly asked me, last week, to do your calculus problems for you! Taking my notes and answers only to give to them and take credit for my calculations!â
âDon.â
âI knew it was too good to be true: Leonardo, whoâs never read any novels or understood mathematics beyond basic algebra, wanted to learn calculus!â
âHey! I know more than you think, okay!â Blue took offense. âDonnie, listen to meâ.â
âIt just had to be another clichĂ©, doesnât it! The ridiculous âlove interest picks the jock over the nerdâ scenario! Oh, Iâve had enough of your stupid stunts ruining everything, Leo!â Donnie tried to throw a punch, but he fell over onto the ground when his brother jumped to the side.
âListen to me for once, Donnieâ I never asked them to homecoming with me!â
âOh, but Leonardo, why in the name of logic would you ever ask them whether or not they have a date to homecomingâ while looking soo nervous back thereâ without any intention of asking them out?â Distaste dripping from his words.
âBro.. I was asking for you!â
Donnie shook his head, tsking. âExcuses, excuses....â When his brotherâs words loaded, he froze. âExcuse me, did you just say you asked them out for me? Why would you everâ!?â
âHey, you had an opportunity waiting, and I took it for you.â Leon nudged him. âDonât act like I didnât just do you a favor.â
âI couldâve done that myself! There were posters everywhere; I wouldâve known, therefore, I wouldâve asked them!â
âHah, mi hermano, youâre saying youâd actually have the confidence to tell them?â
Donnie scrunched his face and stared down at the floor. His smug brother wasnât wrong on that; he used to be more sure, but with your distance, he had a hard time confronting you with his feelings. He didnât want to make things any more awkward.
âHey.â Leon grabbed Donnieâs shoulders. âJust be yourself, Don. Knowing them, theyâll love you no matter how weird and science-y you get.âÂ
Purple deadpanned. âWow, you sure know how to reassure someone.â He touched Leonâs hand, gazing up to meet his eyes. A small smile formed on his face. ââŠThanks.â
"Espera un minuto, repeat that again? I, uh, I didnât catch that.âÂ
Donnie shoved him away.

A/N: I had to do something with Donnie. In order for me to try and replicate his character, I had to repeat his sarcastic voice in my head over and over. It was an absolute pain, because to focus on this entire imagine (both parts), I had to try and shove all the trauma I got from the movie away for a couple of hours.
Summary: You were trying to ignore your feelings by avoiding the turtle himself. What you did not expect was that heâd be at your homecoming dance, confronting you.

~
You stood on the roof, arms resting on the concrete. It was frigid at night, especially with the wind blowing along your skin.
You werenât into dances. You werenât supposed to be here, but not only did your friends beg you to come to homecoming, Leonardo had asked you to meet up on the roof tonight.Â
Sure, you had to pay him back for asking him to sneak calculus material out of his soft-shelled brother. Though, you didnât expect that his request would be to prank you like this.
You sighed. âItâs Leon. I shouldâve seen this comingâ.â
âOh Fibonacci.â You heard someone mumble, followed by a creaking of the door. You turned around, facing the mysterious personâ or ratherâ turtle.Â
Your eyes widened. âDonnie..â
Oh God. This was Leonâs plan. You wanted to collaspe into embarrassment. You were well aware that you had been avoiding his brother. Maybe this was Leon being pissed after doing so.Â
You never wanted to push him away, but the logic was there.
You eyed his tuxedo, features of violet to match him. That and the bandana together. Donnie looked.. incredibly handsome, so much so you felt your face heat up.
No. You shook it off.Â
â(Name)..â Your eyes met his again. There was a trace of pain in them, and.. your heart ached. You gazed away as Donnie walked closer to your side, facing the city. âStrange that I havenât seen you in a while.â
Your hands gripped your clothing.
â...Remember the name?â
You followed his sight to a dot in the sky, shining bright. You knew it well. â..Sirius A.â
âDefine a logarithm.â
âThe power of a number being raised.â
âBase two logarithm of 32.â
âFive.â
â...Suppose that explains why you havenât answered my texts.. You didnât even need my help.â Donnie faced down, eyebrows furrowing. â(Name).. What have I done wrong?â
âNo!â You were quick to deny that. âYou did nothing wrong.â How could he think of himself like that when you were the one avoiding him without an explanation?
âThen.. why were you avoiding me?â
âI.. I didnât mean toâ.â
âI have common sense, (Name),â he scoffed. âIf the lack of it is what youâre trying to take advantage of.âÂ
You had nothing to say.
âYou havenât contacted me in so long. I thought you might have some family issues or even an existential crisis, but then, you and Leo....â Donnie shook his head. âI know I have something to do it. Why were you avoiding me?â
âI already told youâ!â
âFor the love of Galileo, (Name), youâve avoided me enough, so quit dodging my questions!â he snapped. âTell me, so I donât have to keep beating myself up over every possible reason that could separate you from me!âÂ
Donnie heaved, before a couple of tears form in his eyes. He tried to blink them away, but the pain was overwhelming. âI like what we had before, hanging out together in libraries, tutoring you, experimenting with tech.â Though he was hesitant, he let the words slip from his mouth. âAs much as itâs not my thing to say affectionate words.. Iâve... missed you.â
You froze as he took and held your hand.
âAnd I mean it, a-all right? Thereâs no one else who has a passion for mathematics like you. Thereâs no one else who would try to memorize a hundred different stars with me like you would. Thereâs no one else who appreciate my sciences, my passions, my intelligence, like youâ.â
âStop.â
Donnie stopped rambling. â..What?â
Your face was turning hot, burying it into your hands. âWhy do you have to make things so hard for me...â
He was starting to panic. âI.. Iâm sorâ.â
âNo! Itâs not like that!â You used one of your hands to wave it off. âYou.. So this is what itâs about?â
âWhatâs what about?â Donnie tugged on his collar.
âAre you trying to confess to me?â you laughed. âI never took you for the romantic type.â
You opened your eyes through your hand to find the turtle with wide eyes and a blush darkening his face under the night. âWellâ. Iâ. Youâ.â He was trying to fight back his short-circuiting. âThatâs absurd! Donatello Von Ryan never involves himself with romancâ.â
âI like you too, Don.â
Suddenly, heâs the one hiding his face. You looked away with flushed ears. All this time, your fearâ. Oh. The vibrant colors from your moment faded when you remembered your fear, the reason why you were avoiding the turtle.
You.. did owe him an explanation.
â...I was avoiding you,â Donnie uncovered his face, âbecause I started to like you romantically.âÂ
You crossed your arms as another gust of wind blew.Â
âI was afraid youâd find that weird: a humanâ a much different.. biological beingâ falling in love with a mutant. And then, we were becoming really close, so I separated myself to prevent either of ourâ no, my feelings from getting hurt.â
His brows furrowed
âI am so sorry, Donnie.âÂ
â...â
WOOOOOOOO!
Cheers from behind the door grew louder as music blasted, startling the two of you. Donnie looked back and huffed, âWay to ruin the moment... I was wondering why no one was actually dancing at a âhomecoming dance.ââÂ
You snickered.
The turtle faced you, to see you more light-hearted in his presence had a smile growing on him. â(Name).â Donnie held his hand out. âMay I have the honor of holding a dance with you?â
Your face fell. You found yourself backing away. âR-Right now?â
âOh, of course, Iâm asking you for a dance thatâll happen in a century,â Donnie remarked, his face holding a smug look until he realized. âUnless.. you donât know how toâ.â
You quickly interjected, âIâve told you once that I had never attended dances..â
Donnie proceeded to take your hand anyway. âIâll show you.â
There was still hesitation in your eyes. He lifted your hand in his left up, and placed your other one on his shoulder. Donnie pulled you closer, making you heat up yet again.Â
He definitely has confidence in dancing, thatâs for sure.Â
âDonât move too quickly.â
âDonât fret,â Donnie lowered his voice, âI know how to take it slow.â
Ignoring the shiver on your skin, you deadpanned. âYou were so flustered just a moment ago, and here you are.â
âOh, but (Name)! Thatâs the fascinating power of dancing: growing comfortable in your own shoes. Try not to watch my steps closely, and simply move along.â
He gave you a spin, he led you a step to the right, behind you. Then, as âDandelionsâ played in the background, he twirled you out before bringing you back in.Â
Palm to palm, you both moved clockwise and counter, like as if you were dancing in a ballroom. No longer minding the footwork, you were enjoying yourself.
âWere you jealous of my other tutor?â you spoke.
âWhat an assumption.â Donnie scoffed, âSurely, he canât be as great as moi, Donatello Von Ryan.â
âNope,â you answered with no consideration. âIn fact, heâs so much worse of a tutor than you that I had to ask Leon to sneak calculus material from you to me.â
He went stiff. âYou asked him to get it from me?â
âDonât tell me you were also jealous ofâ.â
âAhahem,â Donnie coughed. âI merely thought he taking my credit.â
You laughed. âOh come on, we both know well enough that Leo is never interested in calculus, or any subject besides physical education.â
You leaned in closer, hand caressing his face.Â
âYou know, calculus is still biting me by my ankles..â
âMhm.â
âIâm wondering.. Donatello.. if you would be interested in being my tutor again?â
â..Always.â He pulled you into a kiss.

A/N: This was so lovely to write. In my opinion, Donnie would be the most challenging of the four brothers. I think there are specifics to his behavior and personality, so trying to accurately replicate it does take some time. Apologies for any out-of-characterness from Donnie. Remember that constructive criticism is always appreciated, especially for characters, and enjoy!Â

âDon, Iâm fine.â
âOh, sure, tell me that while your clothes are soaked in blood!â Donnie yelled. âTake off your shirt, (Name), or Iâm not letting you leave the grounds of this room.â
âDonnie,â you stressed, clutching the wound on your arm.Â
â(Name), donât.â
You turned away from him, about to leave his room despite his warning. âItâs a minor injury, Iâm perfectly fiâ.â
Suddenly, small chips leeched onto your arm, catching you off-guard. They unfolded into wrist binds, where you realized this was his way of forcing you to stay put.
âDon!â you grunted, as the binds pulled you toward facing a wall. âAre you serious!?â
âAs Galileo is about his heliocentric model.â Donnie took a binder clip from one of his desk drawers. âYou leave me no choice, (Name).â As soon as the turtle lifted your shirt up from behind, chills ran over your skin from the cold air hitting the other cut on your back. He wrapped the hem over your collar, then proceeded to clip it.
âI couldâve done this myself or gone to a hospital,â you muttered.
Donnie scoffed. âAnd let them force you to pay expensive bills as your last resort when you have me? I thought you knew better than that.â He cleaned the blood around your wound with a wet paper towel before applying an alcohol wipe to disinfect.
âYou know full well you canât stitch your own back either. You wouldnât want to risk inquiring your parental guardians for help in the end and being forced to give a whole explanation.â
â...â
From the corner of your eyes, you could see Donnie picking up a needle. The thought of it puncturing you made you shudder. There were vaccinations and blood tests, but they never changed your tension with needles.
You wanted to get this over withâ the suspense was only making you more vulnerable.
âAre you going to inject the needle, Donnieâ?â Your nails immediately dug into your palm as pain struck. "Argh..!" You winced badly.
âDonât move,â he paused, âif that wasnât obvious enough.â
âEasier said than done when I'm not used to having my skin prickedâ!â You seethed, âUrgh.. couldnât you have numbed it?â
âWhat, with lidocaine?â Donnie replied monotonously. âNo, because you wouldnât learn and would try to save me againâ,â he pricked the needle the fourth time, âeven though you are a human who couldâve gotten killedâ Godâwhy in the name of logic did you do that, (Name)!?â
âI did it to protect you!â you argued.
âDonât you dare ignore the fact that you couldâve gotten killed!â
âI am capable of my own safety.â
âScoffs. Think common sense, (Name). Youâre a human,â he reminded, the anger in his voice showing. âIâm a mutant turtle; I have the biological features to defend myself!â
âYouâre a soft-shelled turtle.â
Donnie stopped moving the needle. "Really, assuming that my soft-shell automatically makes me vulnerable? Are you trying to tell me Iâm unable to protect myself because of that, (Name)?â
He frowned. âI have my technologyâ my intelligence to accommodate, so donât put yourself in danger whenever the hell possible and let me handle myself. End of discussion.â
You wanted to slam your fists. As he was about to add another stitch, your body shook.
âThey destroyed your battle shell!â Anguish scratching your voice. âJust because you're a mutant or because you have your military-grade tech, doesn't mean you won't get murdered, crushed!
God, donât take it the wrong way. Iâm not trying to assume or belittle neither you nor your tech. All I'm concerned about is keeping you alive!â
â...â
âYou weakened your voice. âIf me getting injured means youâd be okay, then thatâs enough for me.â
Donnieâs breath hitched.
..You knew your turtle wasnât great at apologizing, but his silence told you everything. He didnât make a snarky or sarcastic remark.. instead, he listened.
â..Iâm sorry.â
âI know. But donât put yourself down.. I never once thought you're supposed to be perfectly strong or invulnerable. That applies to everyone all the same. Flaws happen, whether we're fine with it or not.â
You turned your head to look at Donnie. Something was still bothering him.
âBut Iâll try not to scare you again if that makes you feel better.â The tension left his face, and he proceeded to finish the last few stitches.
It was all calm and quiet until he dragged his cold finger lightly over the stitched-up wound. You shuddered.
âYou keep flinching so much.â
âYouâre one to talk, youâre sensitive to touch as much as I am, if not so much more.â
âNo, no, not that. I find it interesting, because.. I donât see you reacting so violently when April stitched up the other cut on your back. You know, from falling off the table.â As Donnie applied a cotton pad and tape to cover your wound, he looked up to meet your eyes. Â
But you quickly faced away to the other direction.
Donnie leaned the same way, one of his brows raised.
And you avoided eye-contact yet again.
.
.
.
Ah.
âYouâre flustered.â
âWhat?â The red rushing to your ears.
âFlustered,â he repeated. âIts definition being âagitated, confused, ruffledâ.ââ
âNo, I meant: how am I flustered?â
Donnie dragged his finger along your skin again. You felt your face heat up.
âYouâre flustered from having your back exposed to me.â
âIâm not.â You sensed his ego returning.
âTell that to my lie-detector and weâll see how that goes.â
âYou have a polygraph?â
âOf course not,â Donnie actually scoffed. âWe all know polygraphs are never accurate enough to be trusted.â He unclipped your shirt and released the binds on your wrists.
You groaned, rubbing your aching hands. âYou had me binded to a wall, and lifted my shirt to stitch my cutâ so of courseâ I would feel exposed.. and flustered.â You sat in your turtle's desk chair.
âYes, exactly, I did that to treat you." He crossed his arms. "And I find that hypocritical, considering you exposed yourself and your whereabouts on the Internet."
You gave him a look, before holding your knees to your chest. There was a change in expression as you whispered, "..Thanks."
Donnie stood awkwardly, rubbing his arm once he heard you and finding sincerity on your face. The soft-shelled turtle stepped closer to you and slowly wrapped his arms around your shoulders.
"Hey, I thought you don't like this intimate stuff," you joked.
Now Donnie himself became flustered. âDonât, (Name).â

ECHO-O
CHOO
HOO
OO!
You whipped your head. "What the hell was that?" you muttered to yourself, cautious of the "Hush Bats" hanging from above.
Your hand flipped through pages of a book, yet nothing remarkable piqued you. You sighed. You needed to get a project done as soon as possible before you could hit the weekend concert in Central Park. "Where are all the books on the anatomy of frogs. . .?" You picked out another book, this time with a fish-like YĆkai on the cover page.
"What are they doing here?" Your ears perked at recognizing that coarse, scratchy voice. "Can't we enjoy a nice peaceful Sunday without those clowns showing up?"
April and the others showed up? Here?
"I got an idea," Foot Brute gestured a "knuckle-sandwich." "Since they're always messing up whatever we're doing, why don't we mess up whatever they're doing?"
Under their breaths, they snickered evilly.
You frowned. Not on my watch, bozos.
âš âš âš
"Loom 16." Donnie slid, rocking into his rhythm as he busted out singing. "Take Corridor B. Down-the-stairs past the Ibis tapestry."
"Uhh. . . Donnie?" Raph whispered, feeling uneasy when even Leo decided to join in with his beatboxing. "We're still in the library." Yet his warning went ignored.
"Sliding bookcase after bookcase shows the way to the hallâ up a pole through a hole to the waterfall." He rhymed with every line. Raph hushed him, "Keep it down Donnie!"
Aimlessly, Raph glimpsed up the library, careful of the Hush Bats. He did not want to be taken to the kiddie room. He was expecting one to come right out of the endless ceiling, flying straight for him and his ridiculously noisy brothers.
He heard nothing. He saw nothing. His back faced his brothers as Raph kept his eyes out for those bats. He quirked an "eyebrow" when the silence settled in.
"Gee Donnie. Didn't think you'd be the one to listen." Curious, the snapping turtle finally spun around to face his brothers.
What he truly did not expect was bumping right into Leo's shell. A relatively low "oomph" emitted. Now, he felt confused. "Guys?" Raph tried calling. "What's the big idea? Why are we stoppin' out of nowhere? We got Mayhem to save!" He glimpsed at his phone to April's frantic texts.
Looking back up, he noticed Leo wrapping his hands over Donnie's mouth. Their heads were blocking his view of something. Or rather, someone. Raph leaned his head to the side and foundâ.
"(Name)!?"
In a whisper, of course.
You would hope so.
He nearly yelled for the world to hear.
The Hush Bats above dilated their pupils in great suspicion.
From your end, you watched the wide-eyes and shocked looks plastered on their faces. Leo covering Donnie's mouth before he could scream at seeing you pop out of the blue. A deep fluster evident on Donnie's features. You did kind of jump from behind a ledge.
That wasn't what mattered, though.
"Why hello." You somehow dropped the whole warning-spiel to give a quick greeting, hand on your hip.
But it wasn't quick.
"(Name)!?" Raph quietly exclaimed. Perfect timing for an oxymoron. "What on Earth are you doing here!?" He rushed to you, giant hands on your shoulder and lightly shook you. "Were you trapped here?!"
"Raph, Raphie." You lightly knocked off his grip. "I'm fine. I was looking for a book to finish my biology project. I would really love to get to this concert coming this weekend, but I can't dance my soul out when my grade hangs on the balance of Mr. Racataian." You waved dramatically.
Donnie yanked off his twin-brother's hands. "I had an excellent cadence going before you ruined it, Leo!" He scrunched his face. "Keep your germs off. Who knows where your hands have been?" Donnie sanitized the area around his mouth. He faced you, the disgust wiped off in an instant. He raised an eyebrow, obviously judging the decision you just made.
"Allow me to digest this." He repeated slowly, "You are looking for a book."
"Mhm."
"To help you with a school project."
"Yes."
"From the human world."
"Uh-huh."
"And you're not searching in any of New York's public libraries, but in the Mystic Library?"
"Sums it up."
"'Sums it up?' That is downright absurd!" His eye twitched. "Why?"
"Yeah. No offense, (Name)," Leo intercepted. "This lowkey doesn't feel like the right place for you to be searching for human books. You should try one of the higher stories." He quirkily pointed up.
"Oh, you're right! They'dâ."
"You should neither be endorsing this nor encouraging them, Leonardo!" Donnie hissed and went to pinch between his brows. "Dear Darwin, you have access to the Internet, (Name)!"
"I'm well aware, Don."
He blinked incredulously. "Oh Bohr. What have they done to you, my brightest pupil? My intelligent (Name)! Has New York decided to reduce state funding on public education as of late?" He suddenly hugged you, garnering shock from Leo and Raph. Donnie rarelyâ much emphasis on rarelyâ touched anyone out of his will. So this said a lot. "We shall fix this. An old fashion petition won't do. They never listen to thoseâ."
"Donnie!" You shoved the mutant off, ignoring his endearing title for you. "Did you seriously believe I hadn't visited the public libraries?"
"I'm afraid you are not making any sense, (Name). To come here implies there weren't any books at all relating to your topicâ!"
"Of course, there are!" You ruffled your hair. "But my teacher begged everyone to put in forty sourcesâ all of them as booksâ or else he'd drop our grades by two whole letters! I don't know what's his deal with bringing in physical work! It's been decades! Can he please catch up to today's technology!?"
Yes, you were in fact whispering still.
"Sheesh." Leo crossed his arms and muttered, "And here I thought high school's all about the sports. Y'know, the better stuff."
"Why are you guys even here?"
In a blink of an eye, Raph tensed up. Hands on his head, he panicked as he snatched his phone out of you-don't-know-where. He frantically tapped his thumbs on the screen, texting. You looked around. "And where's Mikey and April?"
"Mikey. . . kinda got taken to the kiddie room." Leo rubbed his nape. "He did that to himself though, so I wouldn't really worry 'bout him that much."
"Oh." You snickered. "So he's the one I heard that loud echo from." You would have laughed real hard at that.
"Not gonna lie, I kinda wanna do the same thing. But those bats up there are giving me the heebie-jeebies."
"And so where's April? Isn't she usually with you guys too?"
"Mayhem. . . got stuck in her mirror."
". . ."
Leo twiddled with his fingers.
You freaked out, your one spare hand wiggling and everything. "Why are you guys even chatting with me!?" Your eye twitched. "Are you lost or something? There's some Magic 8 Ball thing down that hall. You could've found the book by nowâ!"
"Which I would've found if it weren't for my annoying colleague interupting my memory rhythm." Donnie gritted his teeth. "But fret you shall not, (Name). Everything is handled without flaw as long as my intellect is around. Nothing is necessary except for your mind."
Ah. Your daily dose of Donnie's wisdom. You didn't even have to ask.
"Woah-ho. Now you're blaming me, mi hermano?" The latter had his hands up defensively. "You're the only one with directions inside your head. I was only trying to stop you from getting snatched by bats. Did you get that?" He spelled each letter, "B-A-T-S."
"You!" Robotic arms from Donnie's Battle Shell snatched Leo and shook him like an earthquake. "I won medalions from the National Spelling Bee, you simpleton! You can't even spell 'soldier' without replacing the letter 'd' with a 'j'! Who are you to questâ!?
Oh Bohr."
He did in fact yell.
You and Leo gaped with wide-open jaws as your friend with a big ego dramatically floated away by bats.
"Donnie!" Raph nearly screeched.
âš âš âš
"I know Donnie has once again messed up our mission as he does on virtually every mission." Leo glanced between April's panicked messages on his brother's phone and you. His sights lingering on you each time.
"Are you trying to impress (Name) by putting down Donnie?"
"WhaâWhat? Of course not." Leo nervously chuckled. "W-Where did you get that idea from?" He looked at you yet again. The moment you made direct eye-contact, he tried putting up his nonchalant facade. Instead, he looked kind of goofy.
You wouldn't tell him that though.
Raph pointed at him, narrowing his eyes. "Are you trying to get Donnie fired?" Before his brother's hand slammed his face.
"We'll discuss that later." He swung to change the subject. "Let's just focus on getting that book, so we can save Mayhem." Leo held his chin, pondering. "We need to remember the song. How did it go? Something about a Loom."
"Loom 16." You heard it briefly when you had gone off in search of your buddies. You were sure if you could catch onto the beat again, you could remember all the lyricsâ directions.
"That's right!" Raph snapped his fingers softly. "Take Corridor B. . . Uhhh. And then where'd it go?"
"Oh my God." You clasped your mouth. The other two whipped their heads. "What happened, (Name)?"
"I forgot to tell you guys!" said you in a hushed voice. "Those two guys from the Foot Clan are here to mess things up again!"
"You said who!?" Raph crashed into another body.
"Us." There they were, Foot Brute and Foot Lieutenant, right in the flesh. "How thoughtful of you to let us make our own welcoming, instead of spoiling it for others." The Lieutenant signaled in your direction with a sneer.
"Hey! Step aside, chump! We're on a crucial mission!"
"Which is why we're going to throw a little monkey wrench into your plans."
"We'll see about that." Raph charged to land an attack, but meeting the Brute's palm. Everyone quickly remembered the Hush Bats hanging patiently along a beam. The two backed off. Blue hopped on his brother's back. "We can't fight these guys! We have to be quiet, or we'll never get the book to free Mayhem!"
"So we fight them as quietly as the quietest lions in the jungle of silence!" Raph grunted. "Like a boss!"
"Oh dear me. Where's your other partner?" The Lieutenant pointed. Without a thought, the two mutants whipped their heads behind another time. Figuratively, your missing figure left a flashing dotted outline. Raph shrieked, "(Name)'s been kidnapped! What have youâ?"
Book dust puffed out into his face. He nearly bursted into a sneeze if not for Leo's quick reaction.
"Oh, it's so on." Blue's competitive spirit tingled.
Raph stomped on the Brute's foot. Leo gave a real disgusting wet willy to the Lieutenant's ear. Things quickly escalated to making one another laugh as hard and loud as possible. Even the other visitors looked disturbed, either wheeling back their squeaking chairs or simply turning away.
BONK!
.
.
THUD!
BUNK!
.
.
THUD!
Leo and Raph froze in the middle of their shenanigans as two heavy books struck the heads of the Feet. What an odd name, you would have thought. The impact created loud sounds that resonated throughout the library.
Two more victims for the kiddie room were claimed that day.
"Hey guys. Sorry, I went off for a momeâ. Why is there a book in your mouth, Leo?"
He spat out the book, its spine drenched saliva.
"Oh. . ."
"You. . . did not see anything."
You slid down the bookcase. The one book with the fish-like YĆkai remained in your grasp. Raph practically teared up upon your sight. "Y-You weren't kidnapped after all. . .!"
"Thank you for the concern, but why would I be. . .?" You blinked amusingly before waving it off. "Nevermind." You pointed in a specific direction. "Let's head this way. There's Corridor B right there. Someone told me where this 'waterfall' is."
âȘ Up the pole through the hole to the waterfall. â«
"Oh-ho! So he did mention a waterfall." Leo snapped his fingers. "You're a life-saver, (Name). Up high!" You lightly high-fiveâ or is it high-threeâ his hand.
Raph exhaled, patting your backâ a usual sign of either appreciation or reassurance you came to learn. "Like a boss."
"See?" Blue nudged Red. "Like I said, who needs Donnie whenâ."
"Don't even think about it, Leo."
A sudden low ring of Raph's phone vibrated. The snapping turtle proceeded to take it out, but your hands were quick to stop him. "Shh! Don't you dare answer that. We don't know how loud whoever's calling is!"
Raph looked unsure. "It's April. I hafta take this or she's gonna go berserk! Don't want her to think we've forgotten about Mayhem!"
"Hey, I'd love talk to my best friend too, but right now, if any loud noiseâ."
Much to your damned misfortune, however, a heavyâ extra heavyâ book fell onto the floor beside the snapping turtle.
He did not realize he was leaning on the bookcase.
THUD!
And on the cover, there existed the title: How to Not Drop Anything.
The Hush Bats, in a single second, clouded your vision like a fog. A vein popped on Raph's forehead, gritting his teeth. He groaned exasperately. "Okay, I've had just about enough of this jumble! Forget being quiet, we got our buddy Mayhem to save!" His tonfÄs glowed red.
You frantically waved your arms. "Hold on a second, Raphâ!"
"Power smash-a-roni!"
It was too late. You and the red-eared slider were tightly shoved against each other, being held in a gigantic holographic hand as Raph activated his energy construct. "You're seriously going to wreck the entire library!?" Leo shouted. "OW. Watch the grip, King Kong! You're squeezing the very life out of us!"
âȘ Down the stairs past the Ibis Tapestry. â«
Raph's eyes lit up at the banner with a long-beaked bird on it. "Ibis Tapestry!" The Hush Bats swarmed around you once again.
You screamed, "To your left!"
The sliding bookshelves were found. Raph simply smashed his way past them. "To think I was gonna apply here as an assistant too!" You wailed. "I'm never going to be able to come back here as long as I'm associated with you guys!"
The Hush Bats began to charge right at you three. But Leo yanked out his Ćdachi. With a swipe, a portal opened up, sending all the bats right into the bookshelves opposite.
"Can someone tell me if we're almost there?" Leo had been waving and brandishing his Ćdachi. The repetitive high-pitched squeaks were heard when the blade struck something. "Ughh. These bats are getting on my nerves! My arms are getting sore!"
âȘ Up the pole through the hole to the waterfall. â«
"Up the pole!" Raph yelled until he broke through the fountain. The book, Complete Compendium of Escape Rituals, glimmered in the center of a large podium. One of the shiniest covers you could ever witness glowing.
"Don't worry I got it!" Leo portal'ed himself right over and snatched the book. But the Hush Bats rushed in as well. He grinned, "Oh yeah! Hero of the day!"
"Leo! Hand over the book!" Raph urged. "While you're at it, portal (Name) out of here!"
Your eyes widened. "What are you doâ!?" Raph used his energy construct and flung you and himself over. You shrieked, "You little! You forgot I'm a humaaannn!" Leo passed the book to his brother, and swung his Ćdachi. The portal that appeared behind you teleported you away from getting a concussion and five weeks of a coma on a bookshelf.
As two brothers exploded through the walls, crashing through the glass, the Bat Librarianâ busy stamping booksâ instantly painted her face across in horror when she looked up. Her wide yellow eyes as she watched the destruction unfold right above the main chamber.
Oh boy did she herself explode into rage. "You! I'll pummel you into papyrus!" she hissed. Her normal YĆkai form mutated into something larger, expanding her wings and all of her six limbs.
Leo gulped thickly.
"Err. . .
. . .Is it too late to be pardoned?"
So much for being the "Face."
She soared up, seizing the two mutants, and body-slammed them down into another room. The debris scattering across the puzzle-tiled floor and unicorn-themed carpet. The book was still safe in Raph's grasp.
Hold on.
Puzzles and unicorns?
"Oh my God. It's about time you showed up! Why the hell would you teleport me here of all places, Leo!?"
They groaned, recovering from the brutal impact. Only to discover you were tied in jumpropes and about to be sacrificed to. . . Mikey?!
They had crashed into the kiddie room.
Their box turtle of a younger brother, covered in glow-in-the-dark marker and his head crowned with feathers, sat high and mighty on a stack of giant books like a throne. The armrests were made with alphabet blocks. Donnie sat on the side, fanning him with leaves. The Foot Brute and Lieutenant were also tied in jumpropes and hung like cocoons. The other YĆkai chanted and beated the drums.
He swayed his attention from you to the huge raging bat climbing up the rubble, hissing at the turtles.
Mikey, as if declared the king of the jungle, pointed at the Bat Librarian with crazed eyes.
"N E W T O Y!"
April would refuse to believe their fiasco if it weren't for you having a broken rib and bruises on your limbs.
At least your ancient teacher handed you that perfect score.

Is breaking into a lab at your university a crime? Maybe. Does one of the greatest genius in the world (this is not exaggerated at all) care about it? No.
That's pretty much how Donnie found himself creeping through the empty halls almost in the middle of the night. It's been a while since he started searching for one of his school's more abandoned labs. But he was determined.
Recently he accidentally eavesdropped a conversation between two of his classmates. Well, not really eavesdropped, because the were talking on definitely lounder volume than most of the class and Donnie just happened to be sitting behind them. They were talking about some older lab in the farthest corner of the school that no one really visited.
And who would pass on such an opportunity for a new quiet workplace? Definitely not the Donatello Hamato.
With self-made goggles on his eyes he scanned the area slowly making way further and further into the dark corridor carefull not to make to many sounds. He's never been to this part of the school so navigating there was quiet a challenge with how many turns and doors were along the way. Seriously, they at least could have given them a layout of the building at the beginning of the year.
Reaching the end of the hall, Donnie stopped in his tracks. Rays of yellowish light filtered through a small window in the last doors falling on the greyish floor.
Maybe... someone just forgot to turn of the light earlier before leaving? No, janitors always check it after everyone leave.
No matter with how many excuses Donnie's been trying to come up with there was no other explanation.
Someone already was there.
Sudden wave of anxiety washed over Donnie as he reached to pull lightly at the end of his purple mask. Were those this guys talking about the lab in his class? That would make sense. But for some reason he had a feeling that it wasn't them.
After the moment of paralyzation, Donatello began making steady steps ahead. Stopping before the door he exhaled shakly not knowing he was holding his breath. Being as quiet as he could, he listened to the hushed voice from the inside of the room.
"Yeah, yeah I know I was a little bit to reckless." said the voice with quiet whine. Donnie guessed the person that voice belong to was talking through the phone, because he couldn't detect any other presence beside them. "But what could I do when he just suddenly trow a wHOLE BENCH-"
The voice stopped. He heard the sound of several papers being picked up and stuffed in a drawer. The sound of his heart was louder than the stapes coming out of the lab. Just as Donnie started to think of an escape plan he heard the voice again - this time more nervous.
"I think that someone-" they were cut off by the person they were talking to. How could they know that he was here? "But what if it's- Can you stop interrupting me for a second? What should I do?"
And this was the moment Donatello decided it's time for him to go. No matter who that person was or how they knew he was here he didn't want to be spotted, and in the worst case scenario reported to the teachers. He never will get detention like his twin (Leo was almost always in detention and Donnie certainly didn't want to deal with being in one room with his brother at the same time for so long). It's not like Donnie have never done something that would put him in so called 'after-class prison'. He just never got caught like his dumb-dumb brother(s - every one of them got it at least once).
Maybe he could just threaten them to not tell anyone?
...what they were doing here in the first place?
Lost in his head Donnie failed to notice a shadow slowly approaching the door. With one quick motion the door opened revealing the mysterious person from the not-so-abandoned lab.
For a few first seconds both of them were just standing staring at each other. It was so quiet (and probably as awkward).
As he lifted his goggles of his face, Donatello watched them with a strange kind of disappointment seeing that they were just some random normal student. They had [s/c] skin mostly covered by dark clothing in which the most signifying thing was the colorfull jacket (that gave him the sense of deja vu for some unknown reason). One of their hands was tightly wrapped around the strap of the cross body bag. Donatello noticed several pins, patches and keychains from different types of media on it. He could even recognize most of them (especially that one pin wit Atomic Lass on it).
"Uh, I was just leaving so-" they started talking startling Donnie a little. "-could you just... pretend you never saw anything?â
The mysterious person said nervously darting their eyes at everything but on him and just now he looked at their face. Even in the dark he could see every bigger and smaller detail, his own eyes jumping from the shiny [e/c] eyes to nose and lips and even to tiny scars scaterred on their skin. Scars huh?...
"Oh..." they breathed out finally laying eyes on him. "Turtle."
Donnie sudently felt a pang of irritation.
"Yes, excellent observation. I am in fact a type of reptilian, to be exact a one from the Trionychidae family." he responded totally not sarcastic.
The [h/c] haired teen stared at him in shock not knowing what to say for the first few seconds. Donnie was just about to start going on a rant on the topic of different species of turtles when they opened their mouth.
"Fancy way of saying you're a softshell turtle but okay." they muttered to themselves. "What I meant was, you're one of the turtle brothers. For so many yokai and mutants going to this school, you guys are the most recognizable." the teen started lightly bouncing on the heels of their feet before adding. "And we have at least four classes together every day."
Huh, that was a surprise. The turtle never noticed them in class before. Then again, he never pays attention to other students unless they're doing projects, which requires having a partner, or they are talking about something that catches Donnie's attention.
"I am not a bit surprised that my intellect is so recognizable among my peers and many others." he proclaimed with confidence. "However, now I'm more intrigued about what someone like you is doing in a school lab at 11:53 p.m."
Donatello rised one of his drawn eyebrows looking at them suspiciously. Small bead of sweat rolled down their neck.
"Well, I..." bright eyes shifting from his face to the ground and again on him. They cursed internally to themselves for not being able to hold eye contact for long enough to not appear suspicious. "I have permission form a teacher to use this lab."
"Why and which teacher would get you an access to-"
"What are you doing here though?" the more human one of the pair, swiftly avoiding the topic, tilted their head curiously.
It was his turn to sweat.
"I may have heard about an unoccupied lab and simply thought that such a place couldn't go to waste." the purple turtle pointed his tree fingered hand at the entrance to the room, hiding the other in the pocket of his hoodie.
"Understandable." they nodded at his reasoning. "Though, could you not tell anyone about it?"
"Why is that? I thought that you had permission form the teacher." Donnie questioned.
The teen scratched lightly their arm.
"Well, I do have a permission form Mr. Stark." they send him knowing look.
Oh, that made sense. Mr. Stark was known to be genius but rather... nonchalant teacher, which caused him to appear ignorant and selfish (being rich certainty did not help erase this assumptions). However, that wasn't true at all. He just cared in his own unique ways like, in this case, providing the workplace for one of his students. Although, he didn't really conducted any lessons, anyone in school could cusually talk to him about anything school- or no school-related. Mr. Stark was just kinda there if someone needed him.
So, in conclusion, a permission from him specifically isn't very reliable for other teachers.
Donatello hummed to himself, thinking for the most profitable solution.
"Let's make a deal." he requested firmly. "I won't inform any of the authorities of this university, which could get you and Mr. Stark in trouble, and you will give me an access to also use this lab. Of course, I won't interfere with your work and I expect to you do the same with mine."
[e/c]-eyed teen went silent, thinking expression on their face. The deal was pretty fair, they really didn't want to get them and the teacher in trouble, and letting him work in the lab shouldn't be a problem. Except, it was risky. He could find out.
But maybe they just need to hide their things a little better.
"Okay."
"I don't think you want to get into unnecessary trouble- wait, what?"
"I'm okay with that arrangement. I mean, I won't lose anything on that and I don't mind sharing." they shrugged, extending their hand. "So, deal? Oh, I'm y/n Parker by the way."
The turtle stared intensely at their opened palm not moving neither of his own. Instead, from under his purple hoodie appeared a metal limb reminding the other teen of spider legs. It grabbed their hand and firmly shook it.
"It's a deal then, y/n Parker."
âââââââââ
Donnie ever so often found himself spending time in the lab. He observed that the class was much bigger on the inside that he thought. It also had an equipment that the turtle couldn't find in any other place in school. They were clearly bought or constructed by y/n (which the latter he was doubtful of).
Speaking about the teen, although Donnie never was really interested in his peers, he sometimes caught them walking somewhere in the back of his mind. They never stayed for long, only leaving unanswered questions that lingered in his brain later. He could learn nothing from the brief conversations they had every time they were switching turns in the laboratory. Or even when they started making small talks during the day in school (which he kind of enjoyed, because the turtle rarely had any classes with his brothers due to being on different profiles). What he could learn, however, was that with the level of sarcasm and jokes they could almost match his. Almost. Which made every exchange of words interesting.
But despite their friendly and teaseful nature, Donnatello was convinced they were hiding something.
He even made a list of what he found suspicious. It mainly contained things like:
- the fact that they never wanted to tell the purple turtle what exactly they were doing in the lab and always perfectly covered any evidence of teen being there,
- y/n was also avoiding certain topics, like, what connects them to Mr. Star or why they were just randomly disappearing from school,
- and the colorful jacket, which Donnie still found weirdly familiar.
And after a long internal discussion with himself, Donatello decided today was the day he will find out the truth.
That's why he was now searching every drawer in the laboratory for any kind of clues. Today, for some unknown reason, y/n hurriedly left seconds after he opened the door, throwing a quick 'hi', before disappearing around the corner. Therefore, Donnie decided it was excellent time to pull on a little investigation.
Shuffling through the papers scattered on the table, his dark eyes scanned every bit of information on them. However, they seemed to be encrypted, making it difficult for the turtle to understand exactly what was written on them. When he was starting to get irritated, he spotted, under all the other paper sheets, something what looked like a blueprint of unknown mechanics. Small device in the shape that reminded him of a tear, was drawn with precision. Every little detail was carefully described, from how the parts were made, to in what way they need to be put together.
Donnie could probably analyze it for hours and lost himself in the vortex of work, but what most cached his attention was what was on the other side of the paper.
A recipe for web fluid with a 'Synthetic Webbing' written in the top left corner of the page.
"Salicylic acid, toulene, methanol, carbon tetrachloride, potassium carbonate, and ethyl acetate, huh..." he read out loud. "What would they need to create a webbing like that for? Judging by its structure it needs to be load-bearing and strong, hold with extreme amounts of tension and stress, yet have a little stretch to it."
The most important thing he could recall now, was that spiders were able to produce sticky thread, using it to create webs. Which, somehow, was the missing puzzle piece that he yet needed to put in the right place.
What exactly spiders have to do with that-
"Wait a minute." Donnie mumbled to himself.
In the New York City was one particular spider that everyone recognized - Spiderman. The faceless hero, in the black and [f/c] suit with a jacket thrown over the shoulders, protecting the city from any danger. The turtle himself was never really as interested in superhero as his brothers, but because of them he knew more overall informations.
Rubbing his chin, Donatello looked around the lab trying to put all those informations together. His eyes, however, landed on familiar colorful piece of clothing left hanging loosely on the chair back.
Suddenly, with wide open eyes, his stomach twisted uncomfortably giving him this weird feeling of dread and realisation. Quickly he stuffed the rest of the papers in the drawers trying not to accidentally rip them. Seconds later, the door to the lab opened revealing [h/c] haired student.
"Sorry, Donatello, I just forgot my-" they halted seeing the blueprint in turtles three-fingered hand.
He felt his heart stopped beating for a moment before he was able to speak.
"You were in a hurry and left couple of things, so I thought I would offer my assistance and clean up! Yeah..." the purple turtle explained tugging at the end of his mask. "Although, I may have accidentally get to know the content of one of your projects, which leads me to the question. What is the purpose to create artificial web-"
"Cosplay!" they expressed loudly, surprising him and themselves. "I mean- yeah, I just wanted to make, uh, Spiderman's cosplay! For convention! Yup, that's right."
The teen nodded with a smile, not knowing who they're trying to convince more, him or themselves. Donnie only rises his eyebrow.
Unfortunately (or fortunately), both of them were terrible at lying.
"So, are you..."
"Yeah, well..."
Both students were staring at each other uncomfortably.
"I'm assuming that Mr. Stark knows about that, and that's why he let you use this lab?"
"Well, actually, I was there before and he caught me while I was testing the web." they explained, scratching their arm. "He helped me with the whole... hero thing, I guess."
Donnie nodded, still being lost somewhere in his head.
"How exactly did this... happened? What I mean is, I noticed that you posess only certain aspects of a spider, like, being able to attach yourself to different surfaces." the turtle trailed off ready to go on a rant. "However, you need to fabricate the webs yourself, so, I'm assuming that means your body can not produce them itself-"
"Donatello, as much as I would like to listen to your genius talk, I'm afraid I don't have many answers for you." they hold up their hands in defensive manner and dropped their [e/c] eyes to the floor trying to avoid his gaze. "Besides, it's not really interesting story. I was bitten by radioactive spider and started sticking to random things. That really freaked me out. But I guess I just grown up to accept that now I have weird superpowers."
"What about being a hero? Why-"
"Can you not tell anyone?" they cut him off hastily while focusing up on him again with pleading look. "I know I can't really force you to do that, but maybe there is something I could do? I can't really think of anything I could offer though... It's easier and safer when less people know..."
He began to think, wondering what he might possibly want from them. What might they have that Donnie couldn't construct himself? Or what information they possessed that could satisfy him? For a brief second he even thought of organising a meet-up for his brothers who certainly would be delighted to converse with a hero, but quickly dismissed the idea realizing that it would led to questions how he was able to meet Spiderman in the first place.
However, maybe there was something that Donatello would be interested in...
"How about this," he started clasping his hands together. "For exchange of my silence, you will provide me with informations on your whole hero life, including the topics like, what style of fighting do you have, what your enemies are like, how exactly does your tech works, and so on. I would also like to help you advance your inventions, because for what I see there is still room for improvement."
y/n just stare at him dumbfounded, trying to process all the information he threw at them. That was kinda a lot. Didn't Donnie said sometime before that he wasn't interested in superheros or any of that kind of stuff? They still could clearly recall that one time in class, when group of people were talking about Spiderman, saying that the hero must have some cool magic stuff helping him fight, and the purple turtle lould expressing that it had to do something with technology and not non-existing magic. Then he proceeded to dismiss the need of having a so called superhero, saying he had better solutions in terms of improving the city's safety.
It's almost like he wanted to...-
"Are you saying that you wanna be some kind of my tech support?" they smirked suddenly feeling smug. "You're asking for much there, turtle boy. You should know it's not really the safest job."
The [h/c] haired teen furrowed their brows saying the last sentence in sceptical tone. The last thing they wanted was to put another person in unnecessary danger.
"Must you have put it like that?" Donnie rolled his eyes at the silly title. Then he put on a more serious face. "I am aware of the risk this request might bring with it. Nonetheless, I have my own reasons of doing that. Also, I may or may not took a pity on you and simply thought you could require a little assistance."
"Assistance? Me? Please, I am very well organized with everything-"
"Why were you in hurry earlier?" he asked crossing his arms while lifting one of his drawn eyebrows.
Their eyes widened in realisation.
"Oh, shit- aunt is so gonna kill me." the young hero said hurriedly and darted to the door in such speed that even the blue hedgehog would be jealous of.
"I think you forgot something." Donatello lifted their colorful jacket of the chair and extended his arm towards them.
The teen hastily turned around, grabbed the jacket and again speeded of to the exit.
"Thanks Donatello, see you tomorrow!"
"You can just call be Donnie or whatever. And try not to fall of the stairs!" he shouted after them not expecting any answer.
Despite that, he could hear a distant 'Bye, Donnie!' accompanied by sound of running.
The purple turtle stood on the center of the lab a little longer.
"Sigh. How this dumb-dumb is even alive..."
This is going to be interesting, wouldn't it?

âââââââââ
The purple turtle sat in the class, his finger tapping nervously on the desk. He glanced at the empty seat on his left and then on the clock.
'One minute remaining...'
Other students as well as the professor were ready to start the lesson. Anxiety started to build up in his body making him feel tense. Why was he so nervous anyway? He has all day to talk to them, and besides he isn't in that much hurry to work on improving their inventions. Nor he is excited to do that. Not at all.
Suddenly, in line with the bell announcing the beginning of the lesson, the door to the hall burst open almost falling off its hinges. And at the entrance stood no one other than y/n Parker.
Donnie sighed under his breath feeling the tension leaving him while the teacher looked at the newcomer unamused.
"Ah, Parker, you finally arrived. How delightful." big polar bear yokai crossed her arms on her chest.
"Good morning, Mrs. Storm! Nice to see you too." the teen answered with a bright smile. "I'm not late today, as you can see, and I have that assignment you wanted me to do."
[h/c]-haired student fanned themselves with blue folder, walking up to the older woman. They set the item down on her desk and walked in Donnie's direction. Waving with two of their fingers they settled on the empty seat beside him and started taking out their notepad and searching for some lose pen in their bag. Some of the other students started wispering between themselves.
"Hi. Sorry I left like that yesterday" y/n started a little awkwardly finally fishing out the [f/c] pen. "But I got more time to think about it and came to the conclusion that..."
The softshell turtle hold his breath. Right, they never said they agreed to the terms of proposition he made. The young hero was right, this is really risky. If anyone found out he was involved with Spiderman in any way, he could be in danger. His family could be in danger. Donatello, however, was confident in his abilities (maybe a little to confident) and belived he will be able to protect them.
"I know it's sudden, but I can assure you that-"
"I think we could give it a go." they cut him off. "But let's talk about it later. Mrs. Storm is pissed off enough with me already." a small chuckle escaped their mouth trying to light up the mood.
The turtle rolled his eyes and flicked them in the forehead earning a quiet yelp of surprise.
"Well, let me remind you that her actions are completely justified by you not being able to submit an assignment in established time period." he said it in the tone he would talk to a child (or Mikey).
"Is it my fault that bad guys always appear when I have work to do?" muttered the teen rubbing the sore spot. "By the way, you wanna eat lunch together? So we could talk and all. I have a cool spot were I usually eat alone, but I guess that you are worthy enough for me to tell you about it."
"Sigh, I'm starting to regret associating with you." playful tone could be heard in his voice making the statement way less theatening.
"Yeah, I hear it a lot." they announced while this time taking a book from their bag.
"You talk to other people?"
The teen stiffed, blushing from embarrassment.
"Do you talk to anyone beside your brothers and April?" they mocked in hushed voice.
"For your knowledge, I do-" the purple turtle began to answer matching their volume when they interrupted him.
"Artificial intelligence does not count, Donatello."
"Scoff, of course it does!"
âââââââââ
It was funny how easily both students clicked together. Their conversations never seemed to be forced or awkward in any way. Donnie took a note of the fact that y/n was quiet a chatterbox if you give them a chance. They always talked about anything and everything, jumping from one topic to another. When to many thoughts were trying to come out at the same time, the young hero stumbled on their words needing time to form a proper sentence. Fortunately for them, the softshell turtle quickly catch on with what they're trying to say finishing their trail of thought (making them incredibly happy for not needing to compose an understandable sentence). After such a short amount of time spend together, they were able to talk like old friends who met after long separation.
Donnie's thoughts were drifting in his head as he slowly strolled to on of the tables in the cafeteria. Swiftly avoiding dumping into other students he arrived to where his brothers were seated. Putting hands behind his back, the turtle cleared his throat catching their attention.
"Sup Donnie! How have you been doin'?" the oldest of the turtle siblings waved at him. The others followed suit with their greetings.
"Salutions, dear brothers. I'm doing fairly great, thank you. However, I'm here only to inform you that I will not spend lunch with you this time." he nodded while scanning the crowd, like he was searching for someone.
"Huh? Why's that, Donnie?" questioned Mikey swinging his legs under the table. Despite not going to the same school as his older siblings, the box turtle often sneaked out to spend lunch breaks with them. "If you're going to do some mad genius stuff instead of eating your lunch, I swear I will shove it down your throat myself-"
"No, no, it's not like that! I will eat, I can assure you, but just not here." he hurriedly responded not wanting to activate Dr. Delicate Touch in his brother.
He still has trauma after the last time he accidentally skipped a meal being lost in his work on his 'battle shell' (which wasn't meant for battle but Donnie enjoyed calling it that).
"So, what's the occasion, my dear twin?" Leo glanced at the purple turtle behind his shoulder giving him a smirk. "Perhaps you're... meeting someone?"
That's when Donatello started to sweat. The blue twin was way to confident for this to actually be a question and, thanks to this weird psyhic bond they had as twins, the softshell turtle could tell that Leo knew something he shouldn't.
For some time now, Leonardo started to notice that his brother was sneaking out in the middle of the night more frequently than normal (and he totally did not know that because of his insomnia), which wouldn't be anything new but what piqued his interest was where the other turtle was going. Usually, when Donnie was slipping away, it was to his secret spot (not really a secret anymore because Leo was well aware of it) on the rooftop of the dorm where all of them were living. But that was only durring times when the softshell turtle got overwhelmed after a stressful day and needed to sit in silence and cool off.
And yet, this time the younger twin was clearly taking trips to the depths of the university building instead. That caused Leon to worry, and as a response brother he is (obviously not because he liked snooping around), the red-eared slider opted to discreetly follow Donnie to, what he later found out, a lab.
At the time, he didn't thought of it as anything weird for his genius brother to sneak into this particular place. What was suspicious, though, was the mysterious individual he talked with everytime before entering the lab. To be honest, despite initial hesitance, Leo was happy for his brother leaving his comfort zone and making new friends (even if it still was a little suspicious that they were meeting in the middle of the night). After a few conversations he eavesdeopped Leonardo realized that this person wasn't really that bad anyway. That's also why he didn't confronted Donatello about it or told others. Even with how much the blue turtle liked to annoy his twin, Leo knew that he needed some time outside of their family circle.
If Donnie ever did wanted to introduce them, then he would tease him about it sooo much.
"I do not know what are you referring to, Nardo. I'm simply craving a quiet place to eat my today's second meal." trying to keep his 'bad boy' persona the turtle only shrugged turning his head to the side. "Now, if you excuse me, I'll be going. Take care, brothers."
With that, Donnie swiftly turned around and headed to the main exit.
"Bye D!" the youngest of the brothers waved at him, and then immediately started to consume the contents in his lunchbox (which the individually made for everyone in his family, of course including April).
The purple turtle answered with small wave of his own, disappearing in he ocean of students.
"What did you mean by 'meeting someone', Leo?"
"Oh, it's nothing."
âââââââââ
"Donnie, there you are!" joyful voice echoed behind the reptile. "Honestly, I thought you kind of ditched me."
"Please, I do have morals. Besides, I don't see any reason to abandon you. Quiet opposite! You won't get rid of me that easily now." he send them playful smirk while walking up to the other teen.
"Wouldn't dream of it!" putting a hand on their forehead, y/n dramatically leaned back, looking as if they were about to fall.
Donatello only rolled his eyes pretending to be annoyed.
"So, where is that 'secret place' of yours?" he questioned, while they started walking through the corridors.
A giddy smile was the only answer he got. In attempt to satisfy his curiosity, the purple turtle told himself that they will arrive to their destination soon enough.
In spite of the school being fairly big, not many students remained in the halls during lunch break which gave them more mobility with moving through various corners and forked corridors. The surroundings became less and less populated as they finally reached the locked rear exit of the building.
"What are you planning on doing now? Show me some of your rad spider skills?" Donnie asked mockerly lifting his eyebrows.
"Hmm, not exactly." the teen smirked reaching to their jackets pocket. Small metal item shined in the light. "I have this."
After several seconds, where y/n was trying to correctly put the key in the lock, doors were open. Holding them with one hand, the spider hero bowed theatrically placing the other arm behind their back.
"After you, Mr. Donatello Hamato." changing their accent they looked up at Donnie's face trying to see any sign of amusement.
Apparently, their acct was enough for a small smile to appear on the turtles face as he started to internally curse himself for finding funny the joke that Leo could probably say. He just hopes that the blue twin won't find out about this, or any other of his brothers at that matter.
"Oh, such a kind deed is much appreciated." the softshell turtle mimicked their voice.
Short giggle escaped their lips as they straightened. With a nodd they gestured him to pass the door. He complied and after a short while he could feel the sunlight hit his skin warming him up. The light breeze swayed the tails of his mask as he took a deep breath, inhaling the clear air (well, for as clear as New York's air can get). Donnie appreciated the nice weather even if he didn't go out much. It was nice to sometimes go out and 'let your body breath' as they say.
"I like coming here. No one really knows about this place so it's pretty peaceful." they trailed off, [e/c] eyes lifting to the clouds above with unusuall for them melancholic look. "This way. There is a bench we can sit on."
Lazily strolling through the grass they turned behind red brick wall visibly corrupted by the atmospheric phenomena. There under the the shade of the tree stood a bench, the wooden planks covered in colorful drawings and inscriptions probably already made some time ago. In front of it was located a small garden table with the same amount of vivid paint on it's dark surface peeking through the uncolored fragments of the countertop. All of it fitted in small plane of grass surrounded by old walls from three sides.
"Welcome to the Spidey's Spot!" y/n expressed loudly spreading their arms wide. "Or, well, basically my mini hideout. Don't be shy, go sit!"
The teen started digging through their cross bag while Donnie made himself comfortable on the bench. Setting his own bag beside him, the turtle took out a purple lunchbox with an Atomic Lass sticker on the top of it. Opening the container, the first thing he spotted was yellow sticky note on the bottom of the lid telling him to have a nice day, little chibi face of his youngest brother drawn in the corner. Donatello's mouth twisted in genuine smile. After a while [h/c]-haired student sat beside him by an amount of distance to not make him uncomfortable which he greatly appreciated.
"So! If you wanna be my sidekick-" their statement was hastily cut off.
"Not a sidekick. Support was better term." the reptile rolled his eyes taking a sandwich out of the box.
"-my support then. I need you to be hundred percent sure! I'm aware you're perfectly capable for this position and I know I'm repeating myself but I want you to understand how dangerous it would be for you and your family." they said with a frown on their face.
Various thought started racing through their brain bumping into each other and scattering around. Memories displayed on the big screen of their mind clouding their thoughts and tearing them away from reality slowly causing a pulsating headache beaming in their head. Reminiscence of 'that day' made them somewhat paranoid of becoming closer with anyone. The young hero don't want to fail anyone again.
Donatello took a deep breath.
"I understand what you mean, I really do. However, like I said before, I have my own reasons. Also, I'm confident in keeping safe those who I'm close with." he answered keeping his voice as reassuring as he could. Despite his sarcastic nature the turtle knew when to be serious. And he really wanted to believe his words himself.
Moreover, Donnie needed to know what caused that strange feeling of deja vu he had for some time now.
After brief silence the more human one of the pair slowly nodded still not looking at the turtle. "Okay... Okay. I'll hold you to that, Tello."
"Sigh, I guess that's better than turtle boy or sidekick." he joked rolling his eyes (which he did noticeably frequent while in their presence), smirk on his lips. "But if we are going to be associates you need to have more faith in me. In addition, we must establish the exact terms of our cooperation, such as roles, schedule and payment-"
"Whoa, whoa- hold on there. You think I get salary from being a superhero?" the teen laughed, tugging lightly at the [h/c] strands on the back of their head. "Ha, I wish."
"Of course I thought that not-so-legal hero wannabe is being paid by the government that, by the way, hates their guts for keeping the city safe better than them, he said sarcastically."
"Hey! Not a 'wannabe', I am a hero." they pouted crossing their arms and turning away form the softshell turtle, small smile appeared on their face. "Oh, right! I forgot I was supposed to give it to you."
y/n reached out unclenching their fist, purple colored pendrive lying in their palm. Taking the device in his tree-fingered hand he noticed 'tech-support' written in black familiar looking letters, an acknowledging humm came out of him.
"On this you will find everything you want to know: basic information about me and the enemies, combat styles, my blueprints and, uh, deciphered notes cuz I'm sure you won't get enything from the papers in the lab." they explained pulling granola bar out of their bag, opened the wrapper and took a bite. Leaning against the back of the bench their [e/c] eyes glimpsed at him.
"You were well prepared, I see. How long did it take to arrange all the information?" the purple turtle hid the memory stick in the pocket of his hoodie.
"Oh, well... I had it for some time now." the teen avoided his sight taking another bite of their snack. "I just... decided to store it in more convenient way so it's easier to understand. Yeah."
Donatello peered at them weirdly.
"Anyway!" they snapped suddenly turning to him and extending their hand. "Welcome to Spiderman's crew, Tello."
Their cheerful smile seemed to shine brighter than the extending rays, a sparkle twinkling in their eyes. After a moment, took their hand with his own and shook it firmly. The cold from his skin traveled through their arm sending cool shiver.
"Thank you for the warm welcome, Spidey."
ââââbonusââââ
"Who even gave you that?" asked the turtle standing up from the colorful bench. After officially sealing their cooperation both teen talked through the numerous different topics till the end of the lunch break. Fortunately, the professor, with who they were supposed to have a class now, was notoriously getting late.
"Gave what?" y/n lifted their eyebrow taking their way to the school's back entrance.
"The nickname. Spidey." he clarified. "It sounds like something my brother Michelangelo would come up with."
"Haha, I don't know actually. Maybe he did, who knows?" the hero lightly scratched their arm.
'Well, he isn't really that far from truth...'

But feelings are scary...
Love.
It always scared you. The only idea of it made you afraid, an uneasy feeling spreading through your body making it numb. To others it may not even be that big of a deal, natural emotion that most people can experience without issue, but to you it was difficult. You always thought of it as something out of your reach, mysterious and unsolvable case that you're not able to figure out. And it scared you, not knowing what exactly that feeling was, how to acknowledge it or what to do after that.
Until you met him.
The one and only genius mutant ninja turtle - Donatello Hamato.
You met him and his brothers by pure accident, going to a store for something you can't even remember anymore, where April just got her new job. You and her probably both hoped for it to be normal day, you not having to tire yourself anymore after a long day and her to not loose a job again. Though, apparently, none of you had any luck that day when a mutant hippo decided to destroy exactly this one shop. Why? You haven't thought of asking about that when on the scene appeared four more mutants, turtles this time.
After the whole event you were politely asked (and kinda threatened) to just pretend to never saw them, you also remember April muttering romething about not being able to have a one normal day, but you were to fascinated with them that forgetting everything wasn't even in the picture.
That's how you found yourself spending most of the time with April and the turtles. You were on good terms with everyone, even their dad, but most of your time was passed in the lab beside the softshell turtle.
You always liked to listen to Donnie when he expressively talked about his inventions, showing you each one of them and explaining how they worked. The passion and commitment he put into his tech were so fascinating, it always had you captivated.
You hoped you could tell him all that if only you weren't so scared.
And that's precisely what you told Mikey who was now sitting across form you in your room.
The youngest of the brothers, despite his carefree behavior, was very attentive to everything and everyone around him. That's why he was the first to notice change in his brother's and yours actions around each other, him being more considerate of your emotions and safety, and you making sure he rested and ate enough. That visible spark between you two and lack of any moves form both sides, made him take the matter into his own hands.
The box turtle already talked with Donnie about his feelings, trying to make him understand and accept that he likes you. It took some effort because the purple turtle was in so much denial that Mikey thought he'll need to take drastic measures (fourtanetly it didn't came to that).
And now it was your turn to encounter Dr. Feelings.
"Hmm..." the turtle nodded to himself looking up from his colorful notebook, pencil pressing against his bottom lip. "I understand that you're scared. Sometimes, feelings can be scary and overwhelming and make you feel like you want to just hide in your shell and never go out."
You only nodded lowering your gaze.
"But don't worry! That's why I'm here." he send you sunshine bright smile. "I know several different techniques that could help you with adapting to this feeling and making it less scary! Of course, it can't be done in one day, but we'll take it slow so you don't get overwhelmed."
Looking up at Mikey, you sent him a small smile. You were really grateful for his help.
âââââââââ
After several sessions with Dr. Feelings (that really helped both of you), he decided you were ready for a talk. Non of you knew that the other also had problems with confessing, Mikey only briefly mentioned Donnie on your session and vise versa, so you we're shocked seeing the softshell turtle sitting on your usual spot during meetings with his younger brother.
"Uh, Michael?" Donnie looked at his brother unsure of the situation.
"Okay, guys!" Mikey sat you across form the other turtle. "I'm really glad I was able to gather you both here today. Before I'll let you sort everything out, I want you to know Dr. Feelings is really proud of you both!"
He reached to the pocket of the sweater he was wearing and pulled out two smiley face stickers, sticking one of them on the fabric covering your front and the other in the same place but on Donnie's purple hoodie. You and the turtle looked at each other confused.
"Now, I'll leave you to talk!" you tried to protest but before you opened your mouth, he was already gone.
Awkward silence filled the room.
"Hey-"
"So-"
"You first, sorry-"
"No, you-"
"..."
"..."
You both avoided each other's gaze. You took a deep breath.
"I guess we both had some issues then." a dry chuckle left your lips.
"Yeah..." he replied quietly. "If-... If you're not ready to talk then we don't have to. I'm certainly very nervous as well and talking about feelings isn't my thing-"
"No! No, it's okay. I-" you slightly lifted your gaze observing as the turtle nervously fiddled with his fingers. "I don't want all Mikey's work to go to waste. He did make effort to talk to us so..."
Donnie hummed in understanding not knowing what actually he was supposed to say. You took another deep breath trying to relax at least a little bit, following Mikey's advices. Still, an uneasy feeling started to build up in your stomach.
"I can start if you want?" you heard another humm telling you to continue. "Well... I guess you already figured out that I like you, romantically. I wanted to tell you sooner but... I was afraid. Of the feeling and what it took with it. I'm still trying to figure everything out, but I'm willing to try if- if you're also willing to..."
Suddenly, you started to feel shame. Was it really good to talk about it now? Isn't it to soon? Or maybe you were completely wrong and he didn't even felt the same?
"I..." you could hear anxiety in Donnie's voice, making you lift your gaze at his face. He was looking at his linked fingers, dark hue covering his cheeks making his purple markings seem to glow.
"I know I'm not very acknowledged with the concept of feelings, nor do I know how to express them, but I'll try." he looked up at you, but not quite meeting your eyes. "I also have romantic feelings for you. I know how you feel and I'm willing to work on them, even though I'm not fully understanding them yet."
You could swear your heart stopped beating for a second, even if the turtle told you straightforwardly that he likes you, it still felt surreal. You knew well enough about Donnie's problems with the verbal expressions of his feelings, and the fact how much effort he was putting in talking about it, made you admire him even more.
If he could do that, then you can too.
Soft smile made its way on your lips, the slight movement caught the reptile's attention making him fully look at you. He could see the shine of hope in your eyes mixed with adoration at which his cheeks darkened more than before. His heart quickened and weird feeling swirled in his stomach. After his 'lessons' with the youngest of brothers, Donnie was finally able to put a name to the foreign emotion he experienced every time while being beside you.
Shifting forward, he lifted his hand and put it on your own, squeezing it lightly. Smile similar to your own graced his face, this time your cheeks started to feel warmer.
"We'll figure it out together." not being able to form any words, you nodded sheepishly.
He really was in love, wasn't he?
ââââbonusââââ
"I cannot believe that Don Ton, out of everyone, is the first to be with someone!" the blue-masked twin threw his hands in the air with defeat.
"Well, if you want to, I can sign you up on Dr. Feelings sessions-"
"No thanks, I'm not ready to have all my emotional trauma exposed."
The dotted turtle only chuckled knowing that his brother won't be able to escape for to long.
âââââââââ
I hope you liked that!

So naturally heâs pretty stokedÂ
He wants to study you and learn all about you in his lab which yes he realizes that sounds very incriminating, but it's for scienceÂ
He wonât do anything your uncomfortable with thoughÂ
But after having you around for so long heâll start to grow attached to youÂ
Heâll genuinely enjoy having you around which isnât something heâll ever tell you face to faceÂ
Likes to have you test his latest inventions and help him out with experiments
Though âhelpingâ out will just be you sitting off to the sides and watching him work while occasionally handing him thingsÂ
Eventually he'll trust you enough to actually help him out with experiments and get involved
Likes to invite you over late at night so heâll have company while hes working on a projectÂ
LeoÂ
Leo came across you while on his way to the basketball court
None of his brothers were interested in being beaten by him him basketball ad having him rub it in their faces, so Leo was off on his ownÂ
He was originally planning on practicing some dribbling on his own since he couldn't really play against anyone
That was until he met you
He was you playing on the court and he has to admit he was impressed by your skills
You were quick and you seemed to be able to dribble flawlessly easily keeping up speed as you ran
You were already pretty tall so that probably gave you an advantage anywaysÂ
Leo was determined to play you if he could win against someone that fast and twice his size than it would totally justify his bragging
So you know he walks up to you all smug asking if you wanted to play him in a couple of roundsÂ
Long story short Leo got his ass whooped by youÂ
But he actually took it surprising wellÂ
He was already impressed with your skills before but dudes pretty much whipped at this point
So after hanging out with you for a couple of hours he invited you over to the lair hoping to introduce you to his brothers Â
Dude loves to skate with you mostly because you fall off a lot ad he gets a laugh out of it and because he can easily show you up when skatingÂ
But also likes to show you all the cool tricks he can do on his boardÂ
He loves to talk to you about all of his comics and even lets you borrow them to read if you ask him nicelyÂ
Raph
Was introduced to you by one of his brothersÂ
He thought it was awesome that you were a dinosaur yokai!Â
I feel like Raph had a dinosaur obsessed phase when he was little so he's pretty excited when he first sees you
I mean he wouldnât have judged you anyway, I mean heâs a mutant turtle after all
Dude would definitely ask you to train when his brothers arenât in the moodÂ
Will invite you to workout with him on a regular basis if you're up for it! Really just appreciates having someone to keep him company while he trains
Definitely admires how strong you are and would ask you for tips on how to get that strong
Offers you some tips as well if you asked him as well
Asks you to tag along on missions and thinks you make a great addition to the team!
Becomes super protective of you even though you literally tower above him
He knows that you're fully capable of protecting yourself but he canât help but worry sometimesÂ
I mean he worries about everyone its just in his nature to be a little overprotectiveÂ
Will invite you over for Jupiter Jim movie marathonsÂ
Will also probably ask you some questions about yourself that might be a little too personal but he swears he doesn't ever mean to overstep any boundaries with you he's just curious
You and him definitely have a secret handshake with him
Mikey
If you thought Donnie was excited wait till you see Mikey
He practically explodes from excitement when he sees you he is all over you in a matter of secondsÂ
Thinks you look really cool, and instantly asks you to model so he can draw youÂ
Loves to draw all sorts of weird stuff and you just so happen to be the perfect kind of weird for a drawing of his
