Chapter two ⚓

Description: "Far away, when the brightness of the sky kisses the dark blue of the water...there is a hidden secret. A secret well hidden from the humans's world."

Jimin titles his head...both shook and fear written on his face. A human woman... His first human. No matter how many times he came up here, he never saw one. He thought maybe because the island wasn't that populated here, is this how humans work? As well as merpeople? The sea is populated by merpeople, yes, but there are places where no one lives in. The sea can be dangerous as much as beautiful it can be. He always wondered why he never saw humans, he often saw some ships but he was too scared to swim closer to get a look of the 'monsters'.

Monsters. Wait a minute! She doesn't look like one! Jimin stares at the girl who is sitting on the edge of the shore, bare feet sinked into the water. Feet...legs...

He narrows his eyes, his attention setted on her two limbs named legs. He titles his head, scanning them. Is that skin? he asks himself. He has skin too and he is not a monster. How would it feel under his touch? Can her legs be as soft as his skin is? Do they have scales like his tail has? It doesn't look like. And they are not even coloured like his beautiful blue tail is, or like Enona's pink one. Her legs...are more pale than his golden skin. Weren't humans supposed to have black skin full of hornes and ugly sores, two heads and four eyes?! Damn it, Seokjin was so wrong.

Staring at her legs like the last pervert, wondering how would they feel under his fingers's tips, of course, in the most innocent way, and trying to figure out how they are moving, Jimin doesn't realise the girl sinks deeper into the water, now being only five meters away of him, until he feels the little waves touching his skin, coming from her direction. He blinks, the fear of being caught starting to asalt his body, heart beating faster against his ribs cage. He swims closer to the rock, peeking from behind it.

He has to cover his mouth, a giggle escaping it when she sees the way she is playing into the water. She looks so interesting under the moon light, her hair shinning, the dark making it hard for him to sense its colour, but something tells him it is blonde. Or red...He is confused again. She is smiling, he can say for sure...and oh god, her sounds?! What is she doing?!

He has to press his hand harder on his mouth to stop him from laughing. She is swimming... or trying to. And what is she saying there? She is so funny... the way her legs and arms move seems to be so funny for the little merman, his eyes watching her every move, his chest wanting so hard to let out the laughs he is holding inside. But then she gets up again, water reaching her waist. He frowns into the night.

Where are her legs...he wanted to see them. He watches her brushing her wet hair with her fingers and he can't stop the imagine of him doing it for her. He frowns more, a slight blush covering his cheeks. From where did this thought come from?! Shaking his head he slowly moves away of the rock, careful to not make a sound, and sinks into the water, his gills welcoming it, he found hard to breathe like a human .

His vision becomes clear, eyes scanning the girl from behind the rock, under the water. Legs, legs, legs... where are them? Though he is a merman, he can't see that far away. He knows this is a bad choice the moment he swims closer. He tells himself things will be fine, she won't notice him, he will just have a look closer of these wonderful limbs then swim away into the sea, hoping his brothers didn't notice his absence.

Jimin tries his best to keep his tail under the little amound of water, scared of the possible sounds it can do. Now he is only five feets away of the human, eyes focused on the limbs he always wished for. He is so close...close enough to touch them with his fingers.

A mix between excitment and fear rushes trough his body. He slowly starts to move his hand closer and closer. The very well known feeling of adrenaline is welcomed, at the though of finally finding out how a human feels like. He rises his index finger, close on touching her, eyes wide opened, plump lips forming an 'o' shape, he completly forgets about his tail who starts moving under his feelings.

A gasp leaves his lips when the girl suddently jerks back, away from him, causing him to swim some feets away. Jimin can sense her feelings now. Fear...

The merman peeks up at her, half of face burried under the water. She looks panicked, rushing out of water. She scans the surroundings, her chest rising and falling.

Damn it...she probably thought I am a shark...

His heart shatters a little, feeling pitiful for scaring her away. He watches as she wraps a white cloth- that he will find later it is a towel, around her wet and trembling body. She takes deep breaths, probably trying to calm down and watches the moon, but away of the shore. She bends over and from his place Jimin can't say what is she doing.

Then a flesh of light hits his eyes and he hides behind the rock completly. The girl uses her flash-light, trying to see if what scared her was really a shark, eyes adjusting to the light.

When he doesn't see the light anymore, he peeks- for the hundred time, from behind the rock, eyes trying to find her. But when he sees her walking away, an unpleasant feeling grows in his chest. Why did she leave? Shaking his head off of her, trying to make his sadness fade away.... he sinks into the water, and with a strong move of his tail, he moves from the rock, swimming back home.

She walks straight to her house, determined steps on the sand, hair wet, body slightly trembling from the earlier fright. She was sure she felt a shark, something moved into the water and under the moon light she saw something looking like a shark tail. But when she searched for it, she saw nothing.

She stops her movements, freezing in place. There was something into the water, she saw it while using her flash-light. Realisation hits her.

Her head snaps back and she runs back to the sea, stopping on the shore. And for the last time, she scanns the night. She is sure what she saw now...

She saw a merman...

That night Jimin can't sleep. He somehow managed to enter his bedroom without making any sound. If anyone noticed his absence, nobody said something, thanks to Enona, probably. Oh how much he should thank her, for taking care of him. He tells himself he has to wake up earlier in the morning, to find her some rare perls, for a necklace he will give her as a thank you.

Trying to think of everything to get his mind away of that girl, he changes positions in his merbed, tail moving nervously left and right. He tries to focus on Enona and her smile. She looks so cute when she smiles, right? She is so fragile and soft, making everyone turn heads towords her, her presence never being unnoticed. He frowns when that girls image apears into his head, instead of Enona's.

He tries to tell himself how kind Enona was with him, how she never left his side no matter how annoying or jerk he was. But no matter how hard he tries, the only thought is the human girl. Imagines of her swimming, of fingers brushing her hair in the light of the red moon, her sparkling skin and her voice while she was singing...

Jimin bangs his face on pillow and groans in frustration. He slowly falls in love... and with the wrong person ever...
