“ sure. “  now that most things are out in the open, shoto isn’t too surprised that all might had questions for him, though that didn’t mean he was prepared. the words ‘i don’t know’ hung in his throat, it would be the easy way out, but it didn’t answer the question and wasn’t necessarily true. but thinking about what he wants without relating it back to his father even as a form of protest, was still relatively new to him.

Sure. Now That Most Things Are Out In The Open, Shoto Isnt Too Surprised That All Might Had Questions

“ i don’t think i care about being number one anymore. “  he answered carefully.  “ or it’s not my main goal. “ if he were being honest, he probably didn’t have the outgoing personality expected of a number one hero. of course, then again, neither did his father.  “ i just want to help as many people as i can.. i want to be the kind of hero that could forgive my father. “  how could he be a hero in the truest sense of the word if he held on to so much bitterness and anger?

✧ ✦ ✧  @quirkdriven  ❤‘d ( for todoroki! )

“can i ask you something?” all might certainly has more time to spend one-on-one with his students, now that he can’t go off fighting villains when he’s supposed to be in class. but he finds that with this extra time comes necessary conversations he hoped he’d never have to have. and he hates to admit it, but his recent run-in with endeavor has shaken him to his core.

nonetheless, here he sits, in front of the youngest todoroki, with his hands wrapped around a steaming cup of tea in hopes of keeping them from shaking.

 @quirkdrivend ( For Todoroki! )

“your father’s goal was always to surpass me. i have to assume yours was too.” he looks up at him, figuring he’s stared into the hot liquid long enough. “now what happens? with him at number 1, what are you working toward? what sort of hero do you, want to be, kid?”

¡ hhh gimme kirishima

Send ¡ for my muse to call yours suddenly, panicked and possibly in pain.

“ Aizawa sensei! “  Kirishima sighed in relief, only just realizing how worried he’d been that the older man wouldn’t answer.  “ I think Bakugou has a fever or something, and it’s making his quirk act up! “  He sounded out of breath as he hurried back up the stairs, letting Todoroki run ahead and trying to ignore the pounding in his head.  “ I tried to help, but then his quirk started up and he’s hot from the fever, so the explosion was kind of big for indoors... “  Kirishima had only heard one other explosion, but he knew at least the window had been broken.

“ He kinda accidentally blew me through the window. I was just standing in the wrong place! I only fell down to Todoroki’s balcony, so I don’t probably not that hurt. But I think we’ll need help with Bakugou. But Todoroki is going to help me, so we can try again. “  And with the explosion there was bound to be most of his other classmates around now.

Shinso For Someone? 0u0 Idk I Wanna Interact XD

“Shinsou! Thank God! No one else is answering!”  His phone was broken, but he could still get a call out with his earpiece. Still, it seemed that he was either working through interference or no one was bothering to answer their phones. Most likely the former considering the situation. “Villains are breaking into the school again! And I swear I’m not joking around.” It was an unnecessary reassurance given the urgency injected into his out of breath tone, and the fact that he’d never joked about villains in any of his pranks. It figured though that this would happen the one time he’d gone off campus alone, he’d come back to see someone seemingly attempting to hack into the gate to get in. He had fried the mechanism to prevent their entrance, only then to realize that all their attention now fell on him. Denki had been running ever since.

“I’m headed towards Ground Beta, but I need some help like now.”

Which of your muses have had their first kiss? What was their impression of it?

Hey! Thanks for the ask! So Toga and Kaminari have both had their first kiss!

Toga’s first kiss was in middle school, a couple months before the attack and her running away. She was pretty noncommittal about it, it wasn’t anything super special. The boy liked her, but he wasn’t someone she liked nearly as much as Saito. Still, she was trying to be normal and kissing boys who liked you seemed normal. Now if a boy she didn’t like tried to kiss her, she’d probably just stab him. Progress, I guess?

Kaminari’s first kiss was much more normal, a date in his last year before going to UA. The date was with a friend that he’d had a bit of a crush on for a while, they went to a festival and got food after. He kissed her on the sidewalk in front of her house, and it was nice! He accidentally shocked her just a bit, but she laughed off his frantic apologies. Ultimately they decided to stay just friends and he hasn’t seen nearly as much of her since he started attending UA, but they keep in touch!

Munday Questions

♥ What is your favorite book from childhood?

The Harry Potter series hands down. but I was also really into A Series of Unfortunate Events, and the Magic Treehouse series. Then got into PJO and stuff in middle school.

☾ Which season is your favorite?

It’s a bit of a tossup between Spring and Fall for me. But I think Fall wins by just a bit.

You know, when I see fictional characters who repress all their emotions, they're usually aloof and very blunt about keeping people at a distance, sometimes to an edgy degree—but what I don't see nearly enough are the emotionally repressed characters who are just…mellow.

Think about it. In real life, the person that's bottling up all their emotions is not the one that's brooding in the corner and snaps at you for trying to befriend them. More often than not, it's that friendly person in your circle who makes easy conversation with you, laughs with you, and listens and gives advice whenever you're upset. But you never see them upset, in fact they seem to have endless patience for you and everything around them—and so you call them their friend, you trust them. And only after months of telling them all your secrets do you realize…

…they've never actually told you anything about themselves.

friendly witchcraft reminder that

- your deities are smart enough to know that you don’t mean your intrusive thoughts and to therefore not act on them or be offended by them

- if you have anxiety, then anxiety when you do magic isn’t your intuition telling you that something’s wrong. It’s just a symptom of your mental illness and it doesn’t mean anything.

"They Were Just Teasing Tsukasa Like Usual, What Went Wrong?!"
"They Were Just Teasing Tsukasa Like Usual, What Went Wrong?!"

"They were just teasing Tsukasa like usual, what went wrong?!"

Tsukasa was not feeling like himself that day, he felt tired of everything, specifically of himself he didnt know why, either way he won't let anyone notice that because: A star shouldn't be feeling down and worried everyone around!.

So he forces himself to smile all day.

As the day went by, Forcing himself to smile was difficult every minute he heard someone's mockery or teasing him with something, and the cherry on top?

Was during wxs practices.

"You complain too much", "you're so loud", them laughing and joking about him in his face.

He wanted to run

He wanted to make himself smal

He wanted to scream

He wanted to go home

He wanted to cry

dysthymia pt. 12

another chapter to my series of drabbles of kakashi having depression. this one is kakashi self harming.

tw: dead dove, self harm, burning

wc: 586

ao3

pt. 11 / pt. 13

He wanted to scream, to let the steam coming from whatever inside his body was currently being brought to a boil erupt like it would from a kettle. A hissing, screeching, horrid sound that could only be born of pain.

He couldn’t scream. And he couldn’t continue to let these feelings scald his core.

The pain couldn’t end. But it could be transferred.

With gritted teeth, something in the back of his mind screaming that he should not do this, he entered the kitchen and lit the stove. The coiled burner smoked faintly for a moment, whisking away the oil that had popped onto its surface the last time he cooked, and then continued to build in heat. He slid open the dining ware drawer, plucking out a single metal chopstick.

He shouldn’t. He knew he shouldn’t. It’s not going to help anything. He’ll regret it later. It’ll reset his streak. Anyone he told would be disappointed, or worse, worried about him.

And yet, he brought the tip of the chopstick down to the burner.

He knew it would only take a few seconds to heat enough to hurt. A few more to make sure it left a mark. Once the time had elapsed, he flipped his grip around the utensil to tilt it toward his opposite wrist, took a deep breath, and brought the metal to his skin.

Instinctively, he jerked back,

That always happened the first time he made contact. As often as he did this, the preservation impulse hadn’t gone away. With another deep breath, he pressed the end of the tool just below the pulse point with intention and exhaled as the pain set in.

The initial feeling that came over him was relief. Then shame, guilt, anger, disgust, and a litany of other emotions adding to the psychological agony before he needed the relief and–

He started the process again.

It only took seconds, preparation and execution. The heat source was immediately available and the chopstick would be disposed of immediately after every session. He could stand in the kitchen and repeat the process of torching himself as many times as he needed until the world got a little more still and quiet and possible to endure. Each round got a little easier than the last and it got easier to breathe.

A few dots later, the burner was turned off and the chopstick tossed. Now, in seemingly direct opposition to his actions over the last few minutes, he shifted into a medic space. He held the burns under cool running water from the sink, continuing to take deep breaths and focusing on not spiraling into anything worse than the state he was already in.

Once he was done with the water, he hissed as the stinging started taking over. The next step was a change in scenery, the medkit in the bathroom, the one stocked with more burn gel than the average kit. Bandaging up was the most time-consuming part of the process, but it allowed him to take stock of what he had just done and ground himself in reality. The stinging subsided once the wounds weren’t exposed to the air.

Now was the final step: the battle between regret and justification. Knowing he shouldn’t have burned himself didn’t mean that he didn’t have reasons to do it. It was an intense battle he almost never had the emotional capacity to finish and instead would let the exhaustion overwhelm him, finding a comfortable place in the apartment to rest.

The foundation of the Sunset Shrine is InuKag’s love.

Imagine: Kagome grew up in what is basically a monument to her love for Inuyasha and his love for her.

Think about the protection and devotion poured into its construction.

Kagome grows up, laughs, runs around and plays carefree amongst buildings whose wood may have been hand-hewn by her future (past) husband and soulmate: Inuyasha may have cut down the trees, milled them, then hammered them into place with his bare fucking hands.

By this means, Inuyasha has actually been a presence throughout Kagome’s entire life - even before he met her. He’s been sheltering and protecting her from the very beginning.

EveCould the undertones of lament be suggesting that this poem was used by Father in memory of the woman with pockmarks on her face?

Oh, I absolutely think so. Considering Father’s association with red camellias which symbolize love (not just through the Tamatsuki poem but also through visuals in an earlier chapter, with the zoom on a falling red camellia overlaid with the “Father has hated Heaven for a long time” line)... I think it’s very plausible it’s alluding to that grief.

@sayaka19fan also mentioned a while back that the phrase “visit the mountain” used in the Tamatsuki poem (”山たづね”) may be subtly referencing a poem written by Princess Iwa for her late husband, compiled in the Manyoshu (which also has Kakinomoto no Hitomaru’s poems, btw):

Since you, my Lord, were gone, Many long, long days have passed. Should I now come to meet you And seek you beyond the mountains, Or still await you–await you ever? Rather would I lay me down On a steep hill’s side, And, with a rock for pillow, die, Than live thus, my Lord, With longing so deep for you. Yes, I will live on And wait for you, Even till falls On my long black waving hair The hoar frost of age. How shall my yearning ever cease– Fade somewhere away, As does the mist of morning Shimmering across the autumn field Over the ripening grain?

I also find it interesting how the poem is paired with the Iroha in that last image! The Iroha is a famous Heian period poem dating from 1000~ which uses every single mora of the Japanese alphabet.

Even the blossoming flowers [colors are fragrant but they] Will eventually scatter Who in our world Is unchanging? The deep mountains of karma— We cross them today And we shall not have superficial dreams Nor be deluded.

It is (apparently) said that the man’yogana original is a transformation of a verse in the Nirvana sutra:

諸行無常 是生滅法 生滅滅已 寂滅為楽

Which reads:

All acts are impermanent That's the law of creation and destruction. When all creation and destruction are extinguished That ultimate stillness (nirvana) is true bliss.

Which is also listed between the two poems in the image. It’s all very rooted in Buddhist thought, the entire “all things are impermanent, the self is an illusion, all attachment is suffering.”

The poem from Noragami chapter 95

As many have already figured out, the poem Takemikazuchi recited in Noragami chapter 95 was composed by Kakinomoto Hitomaro. This particular poem is taken from the Waka anthology Kokin Wakashu. I decided to dive a bit deep into the poem.

The following parts are taken from my Noragami chapter 95 thoughts, feel free to give it a read whenever you can!

Here’s the verse in Japanese;

Honobono to Akashi no ura no Asagiri ni Shimagakureyuku Fune o shi zo omou

The Poem From Noragami Chapter 95

If we go deeper, there are multiple ways to interpret this poem. The Kokin Wakashu classifies this as a travel poem. However, the content of the poem varies widely in tone based on different understandings.

According to multiple instances listed in Hitomaro: Poet as God, this poem definitely has undertones of lament despite being a travel poem on the outside. It was written to commemorate the death of either Emperor Mommu or Prince Takechi. Meaning, the mist, island and boat in the poem are not to be taken in a literal sense.

The Kokin Wakashu Kanjo Kuden interprets the morning mist here as the mist that separates. What if this mist signifies the boundary between the near and far shore?

The poem is supposed to convey how it is impossible to escape death, even for an imperial ruler. Using a subtle play on the word “island” (shima), which could also mean four devils, Hitomaro specifies the four sufferings of birth, old age, illness, and death through which a person has to pass. The boat here signifies the sovereign, but from the POV of Noragami, it could be referring to the journey of a person through all these four sufferings before crossing over to the other side.

It fit in perfectly with the scenario at hand in Noragami chapter 95, so kudos to Adachitoka for including it. But beyond that, I am still undecided on what kind of importance/role this poem would have in Father’s past, other than being tied to the Tamatsuki poem with hints to the island’s location. It is possible that this waka was composed (548 – 710) and compiled (905-920) roughly in the same period as Father was alive (read this post here), explaining why it was used in tandem with the clue.

Could the undertones of lament be suggesting that this poem was used by Father in memory of the woman with pockmarks on her face? Could the interpretation of the poem in any way allude to Father’s beliefs?

Now, here’s another comparison & translation of the poem, wherein the poem is broken up into four units. I won’t go into the details, but read the translations at the bottom (colors are brilliant one). Does that in anyway remind you of Father? If yes, then we are on the same boat (to Tamatsuki!!)

The Poem From Noragami Chapter 95

Or, is the underlying idea of inescapable death somehow related to the God’s greatest secret, which is apparently something to be careful of, on Tamatsuki.

Suzuki Harunobu, a Japanese designer of woodblock print in the Edo period, designed his own interpretation of Hitomaro’s verse. In it he alludes to the poem by depicting a young woman looking out a window toward the distant boats, lost in thought. A tinfoil assumption would be that Adachitoka took this reference, and it is again somehow connected to the woman with pockmarks.

@kanotototori @nyappytown I’d like to hear what you have to say about this!!

Hey!

You, person who has just started doing art, and you think that your art sucks!

I'm gonna let you in on a lil secret.

It's probably a lil sucky.

How do I know this? I've just started trying to make art and MY art is a lil sucky!

However. I am a person who has MANY hobbies. And I'm here to tell you something that I've learned over the course of my many hobbies.

It's gonna be sucky at first. And then you're gonna keep doing more art. And you're gonna keep thinking "Oh man, my art sucks so much."

But, little do you know, every time you make more art, you get a little better at it, a lil less sucky.

And you just keep going. "Man, my art sucks. But I'm going to keep doing it because I enjoy making art and I want to improve my art."

And little by little, you will get better at it. Without even noticing. And then one day, you're gonna say "Woah, actually, this piece kind of looks alright!" and then another day, you'll say "I'm really proud of this piece!"

You won't have noticed the change because it's so gradual, but it will happen. You've just gotta keep going.

Ace folks are queer. Die mad.

There are still apparently folks (some with genuinely good intentions, some just looking to outrage farm) who don't get why asexual/aromantic folk belong in queer spaces.

I'm ace. So if you keep saying "Someone explain it to me!" here's your explanation, right from the source:

The queer community (at least in my part of the world, yours may be different) is for anyone who doesn't fit into 'standard' cis/hetero norms. Ace people are not attracted to the people we're 'supposed' to be. This often leads to very different values and lived experiences from cultural 'norms.'

It's a different experience than many other LGBTQ+ people have, yes. And it's easier to hide in straight spaces. But it's also easier to hide in straight spaces as a bisexual, cis woman than as a trans woman, or a lesbian woman, or any number of other things. Our camouflage options don't define us, just as they don't define you. You do not become a bush when you put on a ghillie suit. Is my experience different from yours? Probably. BOTH of our experiences may be different from a cis gay man's. That doesn't mean his experiences are invalid, unworthy of support, or not in need of protection.

Exclusionist takes stem from the same attitudes conservatives have about women's clothes. I'm not kidding (and I grew up in that space so @ me at your peril). If a conservative person lived in the 1920's, women shouldn't wear pants. Hardline view right there. But in the 70's and 80's jeans and trousers had become so normalized only the MOST conservative groups had any kind of opinion on them, and nowadays skirt-only groups are even rarer.

Exposure and experience made those garments cultural standards instead of something scary and new.

The same thing happens in all spaces, including queer culture.

Ace/aro folks aren't new to the planet, but we've only gotten any significant attention relatively recently. Because people may have to stop and consider out experiences instead of nodding along and going, "Yes, I know what gay generally means," the natural instinct is to push it away.

Challenge that instinct.

We're a community, not a clone factory. We're supposed to be celebrating diversity this month, not playing Mean Girls and defining our moral superiority by who we exclude.
