The Hole Review
The Hole discribes the story of Oghi, a man that suffers a car accident, loses his wife and ends up in the care of his mother-in-law. Throughout the story we get to see Oghi reflect on his past and present circumstances as he faces the difficulties of recovery. What starts out as a sympathetic character, slowly unravels into flaws and mistakes that make you wonder if his suffering is well deserved.
We are simotaniasly shown how his mother-in-law slowly and siglehandedly unravels his life and health. The question in the story being, how and why? As she digs up her daughter's garden you can see that she is slowly losing her mind and plotting, but you never have a firm grasp on why she's doing it. From neglect to humiliation she throrougly makes Oghi's life a living hell.
The book tackles a lot of interesting topics such as death, ableism, classism and infidelity. You can say Oghi was a man with qestionable morals as you go along with the story.
He starts of as a doting husband with a loving wife. Speaking of his deceased wife as if she was a dreamer and idealist that balanced his life of blandness. Then turns into a bitter husband succumbing to his spoiled and privilaged wife. Explaining how she couldn't hold on to anything for too long before giving it up and turning to something else completely while neglecting him. And ending as an unfaithful man who is only sorry that he was caught.
I found that what made this book so interesting is the fact that this can happen to and be anyone's life. Sometimes you just need time to realize how unhappy and miserable you really are underneath the rose colored glasses.
As a reader, the book starts off a bit slow and boring, but as it progresses I found myself wondering what would happen next. Oghi is a wonderfully complex character that shows how small things can seem until it's too late.
My woman is worried about me. Apparently I've slipped down into another hole. That's unusual for the summer months. But here we are.
I have to wonder where I would be if he hadn't wrecked havoc on me physically and mentally. I wonder how much of my brain scramble was mine to begin with

What if in season 8 like episode 3 they realize they're still in the hole and Rick has to make a gadget to officially get them out
I'm going to have a breakdown if that's the case it probably isn't but omg I can't stop thinking about it.
Cassie: dad, have you seen my copy of the greatest movie of all time?
Johnny: the mortal Kombat movie again?
Cassie: yeah
Johnny: pretty sure it fell in the hole.
Cassie: what hole? Looks down by the elder God's!
Cassie: what is that?
Johnny: it's a hole
Cassie: yeah, I can see that. What's it doing here?
Johnny: well, I woke up this morning... Sips coffee... And there was a hole.
Cassie: what are you gonna do about it?
Johnny: well, I did put a rug over it.
Inception sound
Johnny: yeah, it fell in the hole.
Cassie: should we call the police or something?
Johnny: oh yeah, I called the police earlier.
Cassie: well, where are they?
Johnny: they're in the hole.

Cassie: where is mom?
Johnny:
Cassie: dad, where is mom!?
Johnny: she's on a mission.
Cassie: oh, ok. Where is the mission?
Johnny: in the hole.

Cassie: by the gods! How deep even is this thing? Grabs mug and drops it in
Johnny: that was my favorite mug. Now it's in the hole.
Fast inception sound
Cassie: dad, do you even know what this is? For all we know it could be an interdimensional wormhole it a gateway to the netherrealm or... Johnny disappears... Dad? Dad!? DAAAD!?!?!
Johnny, holding an apple: hey, what's up? I got a snack.
Cassie: dad, will you please take this seriously?
Arms come out the hole
Cassie: screams
Johnny: shoots the hands
Cassie: what was that!?
Johnny: hole person
Cassie: where did it come from?
Johnny:

Cassie: right, the hole. Yeah. Why are you being so calm about this?
Johnny: I'm more concerned by the tarkatan army outside
Cassie: what tarkatan army?
Growls from outside
Cassie: yelps a bit
Johnny: that one. Pulls out a movie oh, there it is

Johnny, after dropping it in the hole: oh sh*t
