Tobio X Reader - Tumblr Posts
so cuteeee đĽ°
tobio always thought the weather was almost a reflection of your mood. on good days, the sun would shine, as if it matched the glow on your face, the brightness of your personality, and warmed him to his toes. on days that had clouds, you were either sleepy, or had a lot on your mind. but the sun would still peek through the clouds, just like your smile when you saw something that made you laugh. then there were rainy days. normally rain just meant you were going through something, but still hopeful, and positive. rain did have its way of washing away sorrows.
but maybe you had bottled up your sorrows today. there is thunder, there is lightning. the day was off to a gloomy start, just before rain poured down. the morning and afternoon blended together, with rainstorms ceasing for an hour, then starting up again.
tobio opens the door to the house, to find it silent. he takes off his shoes and his wet coat at the door and walks around the house, checking each room for you. he walks into the kitchen, where you're sitting with your knees to your chest on the window seat (something you really wanted in your house) watching the street soak in rain. his first thought is to leave you alone, let you have some alone time. but he also knows that in the time he's at practice and at the gym, that's a good five to six hours you're cooped up by yourself on a day like this. it wouldn't be any good for you to handle this alone anymore.
with how gloomy it is outside, you don't notice his reflection in the window, only looking up at him when you feel a dip on the other side of the bench. you and tobio are at the stage of your relationship where you don't really need words sometimes (it's not the easiest for him either), and when words aren't used, a small, simple action, means thousands of them.
tobio takes your hand, squeezing just enough to feel the warmth of his palms spread to your cold ones. he gives your hand a small kiss, just on your knuckles. it almost feels like he's reminding you how much he loves you, despite not having the words for it. and that whatever storm that comes next, he will always be right by your side.
tobio opens his arms as you scoot over to his side, resting your head over his steady heart. having him there keeping you warm and cared for. you drift off to sleep in his arms.
the rain stops. the dark grey clouds start to fade into a light grey. tobio knows that when you wake from your nap, the night will be clear, and you'll be cozily tucked into bed. maybe he'll make you something to eat, finish off with gelato in the freezer, and he gets to kiss you breathless. the least he can do for you is let your night be better than your day.

âHave you ever thought about having a kid?âÂ
âA kid?â you echo.Â
He nods, the sunset light dyeing his face in an orange-red hue.Â
âTobio,â you laugh lightheartedly. âIs this what youâre thinking so hard about?â
He looks put out by your laugh, the sure signs of a budding Tobio Tantrum. âYeah.âÂ
âTobio, weâre so young! Maybe one dayâŚâÂ
He nods, but youâve known him for so long, you notice the slight puff of his cheeks and jut of his bottom lip.Â
âTobio, are you seriously pouting about this?âÂ
ââM not pouting. I donât pout.â he says as he crosses his arms over his chest. Turns his cheek away from you.Â
Tobio gets like this with you sometimes. And he always gets over it. So you just laugh his attitude off and continue the walk home with a sullen Tobio toddling behind you.Â
Itâs only later that night when the two of you are in bed that he broaches the topic again.Â
âBut the others have them already,â he grumbles against your back.Â
âWhat?â you say, turning around to face him in the darkness.Â
âI thought you were asleep.âÂ
âNope. What did you say?âÂ
He tucks his chin inward, hiding his face. âOikawa already has kids. Even stupid Hinata has âem.âÂ
âTobio,â you sputter in disbelief. âItâs not a contest!âÂ
âBut Iâm ready.â he says, blue eyes clear and sure even in the dark. âAnd I love you. Donât you?â He looks at you expectantly.Â
âI guess Iâve just never thought seriously about it. But⌠I donât not want a baby with you.â you offer hesitantly.Â
He lights up like a christmas tree. âYou mean it?âÂ
âYeah, I mean, I love you andâŚâ
He doesnât let you finish because heâs already all over you, body flipped on top of yours, hands reaching under your shirt, and lips tracing your face.Â
âLove you too. Love you so muchâŚâ he slurs between kisses.Â
And you were going to finish your thought by saying that the two of you need to talk it through thoroughly, preferably when you arenât drunk with sleep, but his kisses are turning you into mush and now youâre feeling drunk on something else and this oneâs a secret, but the image of your pouting Tobio gives you visions of a future baby who pouts exactly like their father.

Ship: kageyama x F!reader
Words :2.2k
Type: angst to fluff || ex to friend? Idfk

Kageyama tobio and l/n y/n were dating since the first year of high but things started getting not too good in the 2nd year.
Kageyama would focus more on volleyball more than y/n, and it was fine by her since she knew how much he liked volleyball.
But then again everyone had a limit. Her limit broke when he forgot their dates not 1 time not 5 time BUT 7 times in a row.
It made her feel as if she didn't matter to him anymore, it made her feel as if she's the only one who is even trying in their relationship.
And so in the end she was tired of crying on the floor of her bedroom because of him and told him they should break up.
"Tobio.." She called out to the male who was walking beside her. He looked at her confused as to why she has such a serious expression.
"Yea?"
"I think" she bites her lips trying not to cry. "I think... we should... break up." She finally said the thing she wanted to say.
She looked up at kageyama who had an unreadable expression. "Why...?" He asked so quiet it was barely noticeable, but she still heard him clear.
She looked down at her feet. "It's because" her voice broke, but she still continued "I don't think we can work it out anymore.."
At that point the warm tears slowly starting to fall from her eyes. She looked up again while Also wiping her tears.
She saw the boy who she loved so much looked away from her it pained her more.
"I-" kageyama opened his mouth but closed it again. "If... that's what you want" y/n eyes widened but before she could say something he already beat her "I have to go.." Kageyama exclaimed and walked away with his bike.
While y/n stood there heart broken. She wanted him to stop her, tell her he doesn't want to break up... but well life doesn't always go your way.
That day she ran to her room and cried all her tears out. The next day she skips school and when she finally went to school everything was normal.
It as if both of them never meet. Yes, it made her cry and shit. thought out the whole high school they both pretend they didn't exist.
She saw him on TV, becoming a pro volleyball player while he saw her becoming the CEO of a big fashion company.
It was going all good until her friends text her saying there will be a get-together party in their high school. Of course she didn't want to go there.
All the sore memories were there but in the end she got no choice since her friends dragged her there.
In the party she was hoping her best that HE wouldn't be there or at least she wouldn't meet him...
But well her luck wasn't on her side... she was 20 minutes in and she meets the one she didn't wash to.
Kageyama tobio aka her ex-boyfriend. Her eyes meet the dark blue one and it seems like the time has stopped, but then she broke the eye contact by looking away.
Her face had remained straight but her heart was feeling all the pain it did 8 years ago.
'I want to go home' She sighs as she looks for her best friend, but she was nowhere found.
She went towards the exit, and dialed her best friend number, but as she was dialing someone grabbed her hand. She looked up in surprise and saw none other than kageyama tobio.
Now that she was taking a closer look at his face she noticed he changed a lot, the way he used to part his hair or the way he smelled... Hell he was now even more taller then her.
It made it seem as if she was the only one who was still stuck in the past. She hated this feeling this was getting in her heart, she hated the way he is looking at her right now.
Those dark blue ocean eyes looking at her e/c eyes as if they were still in love. As if he didn't pretend like she didn't exist when they broke up.
"Let go of me" she ordered glaring at him, he let go of her hand as his eyes soften "how have you been?" He asked, his voice was soft but nervous just like how it was when he had asked her out 9 years ago.
Her lips formed into a line as she replied with "was doing great before you decided to show your face" and then cross her arm. Kageyama Sigh'ed at her replied feeling all the same pain he did 8 years ago.
"Look i-" he pauses and looked at into her eyes, which took her by surprise. "I really didn't know how to reply back then" he spoke. Y/n bit her inside cheeks as she felt like she's going to cry if not.
"I really regret that. I was never good with words, so when you said that you wanted to break up.." He pauses taking a deep breath and was about to talk about but y/n beat him "I didn't know what to say so I left you there all alone then also pretend to not know you though out the whole high school" she mocked him while doing that v figure thingy.
"Well, good for you" She let out a bitter laugh as she continued "I guess, you're getting everything you want." She put her hair behind her ear as she tried her best not to let her emotions get to her.
"You brought a new car and your career's really taking off" her voice was strained and even though she said it with a smirk, it hurt remembering all the good times they had together.
But then again she also remembered how he acted after they broke up "its like we never ever happened" the male fist turned white as he also remembered all the things he did wrong. He regretted that he didn't buy her flowers or spend time with her.
"Baby, What the Fuck. Is. Up. With. That. " She Snapped as the warm tears finally started falling out of her eyes. Tobio eyes widened at the sight of the girl crying, a worried expression took over his face as he reached out his hand to wipe away her tears but y/n slapped his hand away.
"Well SCREW THAT AND SCREW YOU" she seethed and stepped backwards. Tobio eyebrows knotted as he bites his lips so he too wouldn't cry. "It hurt me too okay?!" He wanted to yell, but it came out as a whisper.
"All the photos in my room were ripped in half" his voice was so quiet it was barely above a whisper but anybody could tell just how much pain it holds.
His shoulder dopes as he looked at her beautiful eyes which still hold tears "but it all comes back, burning in my mind that I should have treated you better." The girl looks down at her feet since she didn't want him to see her crying face even though he already has seen it.
The whole entrance was silence since everyone was already inside which made y/n sob quite louder than her liking. And as for kageyama he was too busy to even notice his surrounding all he cared was to have her back in his life.
The h/c haired girl wipes her tears then look up with a smile at the guy she still loved from the bottom of her heart "you realized that after 8 years?" Kageyama was about to say something but y/n shh him with her finger.
"That's a little too late.. isn't it?" she mumbled and went closer to him to cup both of his cheeks. But as she did, she noticed the smell of alcohol that was coming from him. "Huh?" Then suddenly it finally clicked 'He's drunk!'
She sign'ed to herself and wiped her crying face. She backed away while he was giving her a pout face. "I will call hinata and he will come get you, okay?" She said then take her phone to call the ball of sunshine. After that she looked at him, his red face was now a bit more noticeable than before.
Y/n looked at the time on her phone and it was passed 10:30 pm.. she had to go home before 11 or it might be dangerous... quickly she texted her best friend that she's going home. Then look up at her ex boyfriend who was still looking at her as if she is the only thing he could see.
She bites her lips before saying "I have to head home now, so wait for hinata here." She points at where he was standing "okay?" She asked him which he replied with "no! I want to talk to you more.." he whispered the last part but she heard him.
She again Sighed "we can talk again, okay?" She exclaimed and it that the male's face lit up. He then started searching for something then finally put out his phone and gave it to her, "H-here" he shuttered his eyes getting a bit sleepy.
She tiled her head sideways confused but still took the phone. After a few seconds later she finally got it "you want my number?" She asked and then he nodded like a cute little puppy.
Y/n thought to herself 'Should I?..' She was really questioning herself if she should or not because 1st she doesn't know if that would be a good thing or not, 2nd this was supposed to be an angst only not angst to fluff..
But then again the puppy looks he was giving her was doing no good to her heart. 'He would never make that face if he was sober..' She sweatdrop as she had never seen him make that face before. 'He's cute..'
"FINE" the h/c haired girl gave in. But then she saw it was locked, well she doesn't know the password to it or that's what she thought. And now she should have given his phone to him and instead for some unknown reason she decided to put his old password which was her birthday, because why not?.
'It unlocked!' Her cheeks were now more than kageyama's drunk face. To be honest it kinda made her happy that he still has her birthday as his password. After she cool off she quickly put her number in and hand him the phone.
"Ah! L/n chan!" A familiar voice called out, both Kageyama and y/n turned thier heads towards the running tangerine, "hi.." The female awkwardly wave at her high school friend. "Hi! It's been so long!" Hinata gave her a big smile and turned his head towards Kageyama.
"Bakayama! I was looking for you, you know!" He yelled at the drunk raven haired male. "Uh I think he's already out.." y/n mumbled. After some talk she had to leave since it was getting late.
While driving she couldn't help but wonder if it was a good thing to give her ex boyfriend her number.. "oh well.. it's what is it."
But in the end a smile appeared her face as she thought about how cute he looked when drunk also the fact he was giving her a pout. "Ahh!" She screamed as a red hued covered her face.
Next morning the raven-haired male woke up to a pretty bad hang-over. he groaned as he walked towards the bathroom, trying to remember what happened in the party but it wasn't doing any help since it was all blurred.
He looked at all the notifications on his phone and answered some text messages but then noticed a particular number that was online. "L/n y/n" he read out loud.
His eye went wide as he remembered some memories of last night "right! I saw her in the party!" He tried remembering more but unfortunately he didn't remember a thing.
He read her name again and again while thinking if he should maybe call her? But wait what if he did something embarrassing in front of her in the party? No no no!
Then the phone started ringing making the poor guy have a heart attack and reading the caller ID didn't help at all.. it might- no definitely made it much worse.
"H-hi" he awkwardly said while also awkwardly walking around the house "Hi tobi- I mean kageyama" the girl on the other side of the call correct herself making the boy frown. He so wasn't used to her calling him by his last name..
"You.. can call me tobio.. like you used to" he mumbled the last part but she heard him "sure, tobio" the way his name roll out of the girl's mouth made kageyama's face as red as tomato. He felt the same butterflys as he did 8 years ago.
"Um tobio, you there?" He snapped back to reality "y-yeah!" He replied back while mentally cursing at himself for shuttering.
"So did you got home safe?" She asked and he answered, And so on. Maybe it's a new beginning for them? Who knows?
youâre suffering alone
prompt:Â âkageyama knows you as his little ray of sunshine, but what does he do when he finds out how you really feel?â
pairing: kageyama x female! readerÂ
word count: 3k
warnings: MAJOR tw!!! depression, again major tw self harm, reader cries a lot when kageyama finds out, readerâs mom is dead lol i went all outÂ
genre: fluff, angst
you were always their little ray of sunshine
when you first joined the school a year ago and introduced yourself all excitedly
hinata ran to tanaka after that class
âwe need to convince her to be our manager!!!!â
tanaka was down lol
it didnât take long to convince you, you were looking for extracurricular activities to engage in anywayÂ
the conversation went a bit like this
ây/n-san! do you want to be karasunoâs volleyball team manager?â
âsure!â
âwe swear it- did you just say yes?â
â...yesâ
cue tanaka and hinata screamingÂ
after you became their manager it didnât take you and kageyama too long to fall in love eitherÂ
he adored the good vibes you brought with in any room you stepped in and you enjoyed the calmness that came with him (except when hinataâs around to annoy him, pretty boy radiates áľâżáľĘ¸ energy then lol)
poor boy didnât know that what he felt towards you until he had the whole team screaming at him to ask you outÂ
so he didÂ
and so you ended up here, 10 months into dating kageyama and 12 months into being karasunoâs manager along with kiyoko and hitokaÂ
everyone found it a little weird that you were always the one to stay the longest out of everyone, but everyone assumed it was just because you genuinely enjoyed being there
which you did, donât get me wrong
that just wasnât the only reason.
no one actually knew why you had changed schools in the middle of the year
every time someone asked you pushed it off, claiming your old school just wasnât working out and started babbling about how much you love being at this school and how glad you are to have found real friends like them
âtime for a break, i brought food!!â
you held the bags of food up, getting tackled in a gross sweaty hug by nishinoyaÂ
âitâs like you heard my stomach calling out for you, y/n!!! youâre my saviour!!!â
you immediately laughedÂ
âi know, noya, now get off, youâre sweatyâ you cringed a little and he got off, a little offended but he quickly forgot about it and snatched the bagsÂ
you were all sat on the ground, everyone eating quietly when hinata started complaining about his mother nagging him to focus a little more on studyingÂ
thatâs how everyone started talking about their mothers, somehow everyone having a little to complain aboutÂ
âwhat âbout you, y/n? you have nothing to remark about your mom like our little crybabies here?â daichi looked at you
everyone whined at that,, âweâre not babies!!â
you tensed up at the question before relaxing and smilingÂ
ânope! my mom is perfect.â you giggled
âwoah, i wish!! you need to introduce me to your mom, y/n!!âÂ
noya was very invested in your mom being perfect, lol
you see
kageyama here is very observant, whether it be on the court or just, well, people in general
he saw you tense up for that split-second, not pressing it furtherÂ
he knows you most likely arenât ready to talk about itÂ
now that he thinks about it, you never talk about your family
heâd love to know but he understands that youâll come to him when youâre ready to tell him and he doesnât want to make you uncomfortable by nagging you about it
âiâll introduce you to her, noyaâ you giggled
his face lit up and he nodded before the topic changed again and you could now also speak to them about how annoying and hard math class is
fr tho i hate mathÂ
after they were done eating no one could move anymore, let alone practice
hinata tried
keyword triedÂ
he threw up....
no one else even wanted to practice after that - opting to clean up and end practice for today instead
âkageyama, ill head out a bit early today, iâve got some stuff to doâ you said
you startled the shit out of him because he was just bringing the last volleyball to the cart
âHO- oh.â he stopped himself from screaming and turned to youÂ
âalright, just take care..â he mumbled, ruffling your hair which made you whine and fix itÂ
you hate when he does thatÂ
he thinks your reaction is adorable
you scoffed and pulled him down to your height to plant a little kiss on his cheekÂ
he blushed, pda isnt for him
you loved his soft side so muchÂ
nonetheless he smiled at you and straightened up againÂ
âcall me if anything happensâ he cleared his throatÂ
baby was a little awkward with stuff like thisÂ
you didnât mind though
you nodded and smiled âwill do!â
and off you were lolÂ
hinata then popped up infront of kageyamaÂ
âwhatâd you do to her!?!?!?! she never leaves early!!!!!!!â
kageyama pushed him away by the headÂ
âshe just has stuff to do, shut up.â
âhey, mom..â you smiled lightly as you sat downÂ
ânishinoya is really looking forward to meeting you! the whole team asked about you today.. today was an ok day, i was pretty distracted all day so i didnât have the time to feel sad again.â
...
you sighed
âbut, you know, itâs been getting harder lately. it seems that getting out of bed to get to school is getting harder.. i love making everyone happy, but itâs hard being the provider and never getting something in return. sometimes, when things get hard, i just want to drop everything. i want to stop acting so bubbly and happy, but i know you wouldnât want me to lose my smile.â
you stood upÂ
âiâll get going then, i love you.â
you placed the flowers down on the grave before you, staring down at it with a sad smile before making your way home, yet againÂ
the next day you showed up to school as you usually did, taking your seat next to kageyama after greeting him like usualÂ
you were having a conversation with hinata
it was too early for kageyama to speakÂ
everyone was confused when you didnât show up to practice that day
kags(・ââżâ・) , 2:47pm: are you not coming to practice?
y/n, 2:49pm: no baby, iâm sorry :( i really canât tODAY, im so upset over itÂ
kags(・ââżâ・), 2:50pm: did something happen?
kags(・ââżâ・), 2:53pm: y/n?
y/n, 3.26pm: nope, i just have some stuff to do at home (âĽďšâĽ)
the next day you showed up like usual again, this time attending practice too
just like that the days seemed to go by in a blur for youÂ
day by day you felt yourself breaking moreÂ
day by day the scars on your hips multipliedÂ
and day by day it got a little harder to make the room light up when you stepped insideÂ
it was after practice and it was only you, nishinoya and kageyama leftÂ
âhey, y/n, can i finally meet your mom today??â
he was pressing around so much about itÂ
you smiled and shrugged,
âsure, i bet she doesnât mind a visitâ
âcan i come too?â kageyama asked timidly and you noddedÂ
âof course.. itâs about time.â you smiledÂ
your eyes were a little glassyÂ
he frowned
nishinoya was too busy getting excited over meeting the first ever perfect mother to notice and he began dragging you out âletâs go then!â
he was pulling you to the direction of your place before you abruptly stopped
âah-ah, i didnât say i still live with her, did I?â
you had both boys confused now and you started walking into the right direction
you intertwined your fingers with kageyamaâs
he squeezed your hand a littleÂ
he knew you needed a little supportÂ
only did he not expect you to lead them to the cemetery
nishinoyaâs smile dropped when you actually entered the cemeteryÂ
he saw it but he expected you to walk pastÂ
you stopped in front of your mothers graveÂ
âthere she is.â you let out a sighÂ
kageyama felt his heart dropÂ
âwait, y/n, iâm so sorry for pressing this so mu-â
kageyama pulled you in a tight hug, shaking his head at the boy, who now went quietÂ
he felt so horrible
you were trying so hard to hold your tears back, looking at noya
âdonât worry, you didnât know.âÂ
you still smiled at himÂ
kageyama then spokeÂ
âitâs best if you go home, donât you think?â
he didnât even sound angry at this pointÂ
nishinoya nodded and leftÂ
he really felt so badÂ
you couldnât hold back and broke out in tears after
this was the first time you cried in front of your boyfriendÂ
he didnât expect it to hurt this muchÂ
hearing your little sobs break through youÂ
he could feel his own heart breaking as he tightened the hugÂ
neither of you said anything
he just let you cry into his chestÂ
he didnât need to tell you he was there for you with words
he told you through gently patting your back as you cried
he told you through not judging you when you cried like thisÂ
even when it started raining and the rain was slowly seeping through both of your clothes he didnt loosen his grip on youÂ
he let you finish cryingÂ
however long it tookÂ
and when you finally looked up at him, only the moonâs light illuminating your face, he felt his heart break, again, at the sight of your puffy eyes and red nose
he wanted to protect you from all bad things, forever.
âgosh, iâm sorry, it took me so long to stop crying..âÂ
he shook his head and pecked your forehead quickly âno. you didnât.â
â..is this why you always avoided talking about your mother?â
you nodded, looking down at her grave, the flowers you placed there two days ago already droopy
you then looked up at him againÂ
âthank you, for.. supporting me..â
nishinoya apologised about 27 times when he saw youÂ
you kept reassuring him that it was alright but he felt so badÂ
he felt so bad he couldnât even properly play that dayÂ
daichi sent him home early
âcome back when you dont have two left legs!!!â
practice ended soon after that anywayÂ
you sat on a bench, filling out the last bits of your homework so you didnt have to do it at home, not even noticing that it was just you and kageyama left until he called out to youÂ
âhey, y/n, mind throwing me some balls? iâm not tired yet and i want to keep practicingâ
you happily helped
you admired his determination to get better daily
it was refreshing, seeing him so passionate about volleyballÂ
how couldnât you help when he asked like that
thatâs how he was now practicing as you were talkingÂ
âcan you come over tonight?â
you furrowed your brows
âbut itâs a school night?â
he shrugged âi donât care. you havenât been at my place for three entire weeks! i only see you at school, i miss you.â he was honest
he really missed you and he wanted to know what was up with your lame excuses every time he askedÂ
you then noddedÂ
âalright then, iâll come.â
whilst he was busy drinking water you tried âpassingâ the ball (at which you horribly failed)
âlook, iâm a better setter than you!â
he chased you down lolÂ
you took him by surprise when he finally caught you, grabbing onto your hips, followed by a loud intake of breath and a wince from you
fuck
well
he obviously immediately let go
ây/n. whatâs wrong?â
you sighed and turned towards him
âum.. i.. hit my hip earlier today..?â you trailed off and he immediately knew that you were lyingÂ
honestly, he kind of had an idea of what it wasÂ
he just didnât want to think of that possibility
he might be a bit slow, but heâs not stupidÂ
he has a slight idea why you havenât been coming over
he notices how the circles under your eyes have gotten darkerÂ
he notices how you sleep in classes, which is something you never doÂ
and heâs so, so worriedÂ
but heâs scared to approach youÂ
heâs scared to confirm his worst fearsÂ
he shook his head at you âdonât lie.â
you sighed softly âkageyama, itâs nothing.â
you avoided his gaze and he shook his head again, now unable to hold back from speakingÂ
âno, y/n. youâre not okay, i know youâre not. i know that you struggle every day and i know you donât like speaking about it, but i just canât keep watching you suffer in silence, i do give you your space, but not when it truly concerns your well-being to the point i cant touch you or see you as often as iâd like to!âÂ
he stopped and took a deep breath, shaking his headÂ
âletâs go home first, i want to talk about this in a place i can do more for you.â
you were speechless
you never had expected him to notice anything, let alone speak up about itÂ
you were so lost in thought you let him drag you to his room quietlyÂ
you snapped back to reality when he was unlocking his door, walking inside when it was open - you followingÂ
you sat on his bed, still not knowing what to say
how the tables turn, usually its kageyama being the quiet one and you being the one to fill the silence with unnecessary babbling lolÂ
he looked at you, uncertainty swimming in his eyes
âcan i see?â
you immediately knew what he was talking about, looking downÂ
you pondered over it a little before nodding
he crouched down before you, looking up at youÂ
âyou know you can trust me, right?â
you furrowed your brows âof courseâ
âyou donât need to hide your feelings from me, baby, i love you through all of your emotional states, i love seeing you happy but i like comforting you when you feel sad too, you mustnât hide your feelings.â
your eyes filled with tears at that one sentence
i love you through all of your emotional states
âthank you..â you sniffled
âi mean it. it hurts me when you hide it, it makes me feel so helpless, i donât want to watch you crumble before my eyes, please, talk to me..â
âi just feel so hopeless, kags.. my heart feels so dull lately.â
you finally let in
âit feels like every single day repeats itself and all of my responsibilities are so hard to fulfill..itâs so hard turning up to school, bringing positive energy with me when all i feel is my sadness taking over my entire self bit by bit.â
he was listening, now sat on the floor before you, chin resting on your knee as you spoke
âbut youâre not responsible for anyoneâs happiness except yours. i donât like when you prioritise others before yourself, y/n.. i donât say it often but youâre truly so important to me and i donât want you to lose yourself only because you try to make others happy.. it isnât worth it, we love you for you, i can assure you, no one from our group would judge you for feeling down, we all have bad days, gosh, we all have bad weeks or even months! hiding these feelings will only worsen your pain and lead you to.. do irrational things..â he said, fingertips tracing over your hip gently
âlet me see first and then weâll talk about how weâre fixing this, ok?â
you sniffled and nodded, letting him pull the side of your pants down enough to reveal to him what he feared mostÂ
seeing the cuts scattered on your skin broke him, truly.
he gulped and stood up, leaving to get you a pair of his shorts
âput these on, this way i can tend to them better.â he said, wanting to clean it up first before telling you his thoughts about itÂ
you nodded and changed into the shorts, him trying not to break down there and then as he left to get some stuff
when he came back you were patiently waiting for him and let him clean the cuts with some alcohol (not without complaining at the stings) before he bandaged them up as best as he could
he then laid down and pulled you with him, hugging you
âoh my precious y/n..â he mumbled
he was hugging your head to his chest to hide the fact that he was tearing upÂ
he wanted to help you so bad but he knew exactly that he couldnât just end your suffering and it hurt himÂ
âbut why? why do you do that to yourself?â
his voice cracked when he asked and you looked up, realisation hitting youÂ
you hurt him so bad by doing this.
the person you loved and cherished mostÂ
âit felt like the only escapeâ
he caressed the top of your head
âpressuring you into stopping wonât help and isnât worth it, but please, when you feel like.. doing that, call me instead. iâll be at your place in no time and- even if you donât want to talk i can just hug you and keep you company-â
you cut him off by pressing your lips against his
âi will, baby. iâll call you whenever i feel down from now onâ
he nodded âthank youâ
he was thanking you as if he wasnât the one helping you right now
you now hugged him back, âiâm sorry for not saying earlier..â
he hummed âlets just lay here. youâll get better, i promise.â
he kept his promise
ever since that day, heâs been calling you morning and night, making sure you felt good waking up and going to bedÂ
he often called you through entire nights
he made you slowly start to understand that your purpose wasnât to make anyone happy but yourself
he made you realise you were more than a mere person thatâs always happy
and he made you understand that showing your feelings wasnt something to be embarrassed aboutÂ
(the entire team was very supportive too when they found out you were struggling! kageyama didnât explain the details though)
so yep.
you had kageyama and a bunch of friends that were supporting youÂ
and for the first time, you felt hopeful for the future, your mother watching over you proudly after years of struggling and even having to move schools for a fresh start
she could now rest easily, knowing your guardian angel found his way to you and wonât ever leave you.
a/n: YALL I MADE MYSELF EMO WITH THIS ONE:( i hope you enjoyed it & please leave comments about it!Â

Hereâs the link:
description: In which Y/n is a new addition to Karasunoâs Girlâs Volleyball ClubÂ
THIS IS REALLY JUST LIKE...A TEST RUN..FOR THIS STORY CUZ I DONT THINK IM THAT GREAT AT WRITING and i feel like people wont really like it. so....yeah.
a/n: ok so, Iâve been thinking of this concept so much lately. It started off as just as a nice story to play in my head, but I really wanted to see if I could write it down. So, I felt like I havenât really seen a lot of imagines or content on the girlâs volleyball club and I felt like it would be cool to explore that side. First things first, I am raised in California. Thus, I am quite incompetent in knowledge about Japan schooling. All my knowledge is really from me googling stuff and ofc, watching haikyuu. With that said, if I made a mistake on the take of Japan schooling, I do not mean to cause any offense. This is solely for entertainment purposes. With that said, I do not own the characters of haikyuu. However, there are some characters I made up with my own imagination. In addition, this is an âx readerâ sort of story but I will be defining some of her characteristics so I am sorry if it hinders you from imagining its you. Finally, I am not that good at writing stories lol but im trying. I hope you enjoy.
I hate introductions. Y/n thought to herself as she sat back down in her seat after standing in front of the class, stating her name and her previous school. Her gaze shifted towards the window. The sun was out and shining and she had the perfect view of the gymnasium. Oh how she just wanted to get up from her uncomfy chair and leave the boring lecture and head towards the gym.Â
It was the first day of school for Y/n at Karasuno High. Itâs not like she started in the middle of the semester, no, she was just about a month late into the school year. With her work ethic, she didnât feel any pressure in order to catch up with everyone else. She knew she would get it done.
Itâs not really her fault she came a bit late into the school year either. Her dadâs job required a small move, not that she was complaining. She didnât really feel tied down at her old high school because: she wasnât there for that long and she didnât really make any friends, despite joining a sport.Â
Itâs not that she didnât want to make friends. It seems that her track record, or the lack thereof, from junior high with meeting new people has left an imprint on her.
Y/n looks down at the worksheet that was passed out in the beginning of class. The assignment was already completed due to Y/nâs eagerness to finish any homework that would take away time from her main passion.
Some people would say she was obsessed. Some would say dedicated. She simply sees volleyball as an opportunity. The class bell rings, signaling for lunch. Before she realizes it, she is walking towards the gym, in which she would meet the girlâs volleyball captain. As she is switching shoes, she can hear screaming from inside.Â
â-What did I tell you about touching my onigiri! You are going to pay for that!â âI really didnât mean it this time, I promise! I didnât know it was yours!â The voices were muffled, yet she was still able to hear the sincerity in both of the voices. Y/n was about to open the gymnasiumâs door when the door swung open by a tall pink-haired girl. She was being chased by another tall girl with long blonde hair, but she was a bit shorter than the pink one. Before Y/n could process stepping aside because it seemed the pink-haired girl had no inclination in stopping, she was tumbled to the ground by the girl who she can only guess took an onigiri without permission. As well, the blonde clumsily tripped and fell on top of the two.
âYou idiots! Will you stop it! We already told you, we got a guest coming today and we want to make a good first impression!â A stern voice called out inside the gym.
âUm, Moa-san, I think our wishes are already soiled.â Another voice chimed in from the gym.
âWha- You dumbasses! Hey, are you okay?â A girl with dirty blonde hair came out from the entrance and offered a hand towards Y/n as the two perpetrators started to get up with apologies towards Y/n.Â
âYeah, I am good.â Despite just being tackled to the ground, Y/n remains as neutral as ever.Â
âArenât you going to ask if we are okay?â The energetic, pink haired spoke.
âAs if I care when you collide into our guest! You really need to be more cautious, Etsuko!â She barked. âI am Aihara Moa. Pleasure to meet you. Youâre the first year that turned that application past the deadline, right?â she states more calmly than her previous statement.Â
âPleasure is all mine. And, yes. Sorry for the inconvenience.â Y/n states with quite the unfazed face.Â
Does this kid crack a smile once in a while? Moa asked in her mind. She seems quite different than the other first years we have. Her thoughts continue.
âI am Oba Yuma and this is Morita Etsuko.â Yuma, who had the pretty, long blonde hair, spoke with a warm smile.
âWhy did you introduce me?! I wanted to have a cool introduction!â Etsuko huffed with a small pout.Â
âWell, itâs not like you can recover your so-called âcool introductionâ from that full-body collision.â Yuma smoothly replied. Etsukoâs eyes widened and cheeks heated up as she couldnât come up with a sly comeback to her logic.Â
âYou guys are just lucky that Rinko isnât here to scold you.â Moa warned the 2 first years. With the mention of the scary third year that wasnât even the captain, yet she reigned supreme in the disciplinary department, they shivered at the thought of the punishment.Â
As Y/n stepped further into the big, bright court, she spotted that she could only assume was the captain as she looked so appalled at what happened.Â
âHello, you must be Michimiya Yui.â Y/n knew she had to say something to pull the worried captain from her thoughts.Â
âHi! Yes, thatâs me! I am so sorry for those two. I would say they arenât always like that, but I donât want to lie to a potential teammate.â Yui spoke with an uneasy smile.
Yuma and Etsukoâs interests peaked when they heard âa potential teammateâ come out of their captains' mouths. They were the only first years on the team, so the thought of another person in the same boat as them made them excited and wanted to join the conversation. The two first years gave each other a look and started to walk towards Yui and hopefully their new friend. However, before they could even be in ear-shot, the pair got pulled away by Sasaki Chizuru, another third year.
âOh, no. Donât think you will be bombarding her with questions right off the bat.â She bluntly states.
âOh, câmon Sasaki, arenât you curious about her? Like how did she get into volleyball? Or even, is she a beginner? Or maybe she is an absolute monster who dominates the court!â Etsuko proclaimed as her mind went too fast for her mouth to follow.
âAs of right now, itâs not our business. All we can do, and are allowed to doâ, emphasizing the word âallowedâ, âis to watch from the sidelines and quietly eat our lunches.â Chizuru instructed the first years and pointed at the far corner of the gym.Â
Despite her own words, Chizuru couldnât help but glance at Y/n and wonder the same things that the first year questioned. At face value, Y/n was quite the enigma. The 2 first years gave a pout, but headed towards their desired location.
âSo, you came from Niiyama Girls' High? Thatâs a really good school for volleyball. What made you come to Karasuno?â Yui asked.
âIt was the most ideal school in terms of my dadâs work location.â Y/n states plainly. She didnât technically lie. Well, it was an ideal school in terms to the proximity to her new apartment, but that was not the only reason. She saw videos of their interhigh-prelims last year and to be quite frank, Y/n was not entirely impressed with the state of their team. However, she knew that this meant there was room to grow for them. She knew very well that she could have gone to Shiratorizawa and joined their girlsâ volleyball club. Objectively, with her skill set, Shiratorizawa made sense. Nonetheless, Y/n didnât know what compelled her to pick this one. She convinced herself it was because she is a sucker for rooting the underdog.Â
Does this kid show any emotion? Yui thought in her mind. Itâs like nothing affects her. Her thoughts continued.
âHow long have you been playing volleyball?â Yui curiously asked.
âSince the 2nd grade.â Y/n quickly states. As much as she wasnât showing it, she was just itching to show what she can do. The court was right there in front of her, after all.
âThatâs impressive, alright, well if youâre comfortable with it, Iâd love to see some serves and sets from you. After school, we can hold a three on three since we all arenât really in the right clothes to play.âÂ
âSounds good.â To say Y/n was excited would be an understatement. As she removed her cream sweater, she could feel a set of eyes burning a hole on her back. She turned around to put her sweater down and realized that she was wrong. It wasnât one pair of eyes, it was all of them, curious to see how good she really is. She could feel her heart pounding at the thought of holding everyoneâs attention. She knew if she let her mind continue, the nerves would get to her and hinder her performance. She took deep breaths and started to quietly humm a song that was previously playing on her phone from her morning ride to school.Â
Yui passed a volleyball to her and ran to the other side of the net, and yelled, âLetâs see what ya got!â
Y/n carried herself behind the serve line, taking one deep breath to keep her hands from shaking. With that exhale, she opened her eyes and focused her sights on Yui. The captain wouldnât admit it, but she could already feel herself sweating under the first yearâs gaze. Â
She looks so intimidating. Iâm not even on the court, yet Iâm scared. Yuma viewed Y/nâs determined look. For Y/n, it was as if everything crumbled away and the only thing remained was the court. She starts her run up.
A jump serve?! Yuma, Etsuko, and Chizuru incredulously thought simultaneously with eyes basically bugging out of their head. They watch in amazement as she jumps with severe height and reeled her arm back. After that, all that could be sensed was a loud snap and then the ball smacked the ground next to the wide-eyed captain. The impact from the ball gave a small breeze through Yuiâs short hair. The deafening silence that followed her serve filled the room in an instant. Those watching from the sidelines had to pick up their jaws from the floor.
âSheâs a first year?! Are you sure?!â Etsuko broke the silence with her curiosity getting the best of her.Â
âBoke Etsuko! That was already clarified, donât make her repeat herself!â Yuma scolded. While Yui read your capabilities on your application form, it was nothing like actually being on the receiving end in real time.Â
âThatâs quite a serve she got in her arsenal.â A voice startled the three high school students, sitting on the sidelines. Etsuko and Yuma were the most startled, but Chizuru was quite used to her fellow classmates popping in every now and then.
âSeriously, Sudou. We have to put a bell on you or something because I donât think my heart can take any of your surprise entrances.â Sudou Rinko only slyly chuckles at Etsuko remark. She looks over at Y/n and Yui on the court.
âDid you guys see the precision on that serve?â Rinko posed to the other three sitting on the ground, munching on their lunch.
âWell, not really, but it landed, like, near Michimiya, right?â Etsuko tries to come up with the answer that Rinko was looking for.Â
âIt landed right next to her left foot. I think that pipsqueak is able to aim her serve.â
âWhat?! Thatâs insane.â
âYeah, insane, but not impossible.â
âWith her, maybe we can win more games!â
âDonât get your hopes up, Etsuko, a team is only good if everyone is giving their all.â Yuma reminds. âAfter all, thereâs not only one person on the court, thereâs six.â
âI heard she came from Niiyama Girls' Highâ Sudou stated as she reverted her gaze back to her fellow teammates. They stared at her after she gave more information on the stranger in their gym.Â
âWhy would she come to Karasuno then?â Yuma asked honestly. She knew that her team had strengths, but she also knew that other teams had strengths that overpowered them.
âHow could you diss your own school like that?â Etsuko was almost angry at how her teammate was treating their school. She always was the one to take pride in everything she does.Â
âNo, thatâs a valid question. It makes sense that a player with her caliber would be well-suited in a powerhouse school.â Rinko supported Yuma in her question. All four look ahead and see that Y/n is beginning to set for Yui.
âHer precision and accuracy are so on point, it almost makes me sick.â Yuma commented on how your form for setting only held the necessities. Y/n stepped with purpose, and it showed as she passed a nice set for Yui, allowing her to have optimal choices in where she can place her spike.
so um, thatâs really all i got haha I started this like yesterday instead of doing hw so yeah. Feedback and constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. So, did u like it? Did u hate it? Are u confused by it? lol yeah okie byeÂ

The bell rang, ending lunch. Etsuko couldnât wait for practice. She wanted to play against Y/n on the three on three. As for Yuma, she always wanted to learn how to set, but with her grand height, most people would assume she would be great as a spiker. Everyone started to pack their belongings up, heading to their respected classes. Y/n started to head towards class 1-5. Etsuko and Yuma caught up with Y/n, standing on the sides of her.
âDo you guys need something?â Y/n poses the question bluntly, yet she was quite startled. Y/n never expected to have people purposefully come up to her.
âYeah, where did you learn to serve like that? Itâs crazy!â Etsuko praises.
âDonât you remember what Sasaki said? Donât crowd her with questions, dumbass!â Yuma scolded, which Etsuko already had an irritated look on her face.
âItâs only one question! Itâs not like sheâs going to fall apart by it, and I just wanna know because I want be strong as well!â Etsukoâs vain on her forehead looked like it was having a field day.
âYeah, like that would ever happen.â Yuma remarks.
âWhat did you just say?! Iâm going to make you eat your words!âÂ
âOoo Frenchie has me shaking in my bootsâ Yuma taunts with the famous pink haired character from Grease. Etsuko started to jump at Yuma. Because Y/n was between them, she raised an arm.
âPlease do not fight, you may cause a ruckus.â Y/n chimed in. The first years returned to their previous spots. Etsuko huffed a little and crossed her arms and slightly turned her head away.
âSo, what class are you in? I am in class 1-4. I donât think I have seen you in the hallways.â Yuma tries to maneuver the conversation to something other than volleyball. Y/n was honestly confused. Itâs been awhile when someone her age, someone in her grade asked her a genuine question about herself. She almost felt it was some sort of joke.
âUm, I have class 1-5. And thatâs because todayâs my first day. Transferred a bit late.â Y/n had pauses in between her words, still not used to people going out of their way to talk to her.
âWoah! You must be pretty smart! Thatâs a college-prep class, right?â Yuma genuinely comments with a warm smile. Y/n nods, complements on stuff other than volleyball made Y/n short-circuit. The trio walks inside the main school building, the air condition changing the atmosphere. Y/n didnât notice, but she received some stares from other students as the three walk through hallways. While Y/n remained oblivious, Yuma and Etsuko realized immediately and looked at each other with perplexed looks, not because of the stares that were directed towards you, but the fact that you seemed unfazed by it.Â
âWoah, who is that? Sheâs really pretty.â a student spoke to their friend.
âSheâs new Iâm pretty sure.â another commented.
âI heard she has a famous dad. Sheâs like loaded.â
âI wonder if sheâs takenâ
âI heard she came from California.â
âSomeone told me sheâs snooty.â
âHer looks certainly make up for itâ
âWhy is she hanging out with those weird volleyball girls?â
Etsuko physically jolted at that last comment, anyone can physically see the irritation on her face. She turned her head towards the voice of the last comment, wanting to immediately put them in their place. On the other hand, Y/n was too much in her head at the moment.
Shoot, I havenât asked them a question. Well, thatâs what I should do, right? Thatâs what friends do? Wait, we arenât even friends, I just met them. They probably think Iâm weird. Oh great, now I havenât said anything for the past 3 minutes. They probably think I donât like them. Y/n felt that this was weird foreign territory.Â
âSo, whatâs your favorite subject?â Y/n broke the silence, just wanting to say anything to make sure that her two future teammates knew that she was still invested in this conversation.
Are you serious, Y/n?! No one wants to talk about school, thatâs so lame! They probably think youâre a smart ass. Uhg. Youâre terrible at this. Y/n wanted to groan and bow her head in shame, but all she could do is hold her head high and follow through with her question.
âI like math, and you wonât get an actual subject out of Etsuko, she will probably say something stupid like lunch.â Yuma answered.
âHey! Why do you keep answering for me?! I am fully capable of answering!â Etsuko barked at her snarky teammate.
âYeah, your English grade can clearly vouch for you.â Yuma sarcastically stated. Etsuko looked like all the blood from her face left, looking quite pale due to her not so great English grade. Y/n didnât realize it, but a small smile was on her face as she saw the two interact.
âWell, this is my stop, And, Etsuko, your stop was awhile ago.â Yuma stated as she didnât really know if she should just send a wave your way or a handshake because Y/n seemed so formal. She settled with a pat on the back. Etsuko copied Yuma, but her pat was a bit more forceful and it really just turned into a smack. Y/n didnât say anything, but noted that Etsuko has one hell of an arm on her.Â
âI already knew that! I wanted to talk to our new friend!â Etsuko looked like she was going to cross her arms and stomp her foot like a small child throwing a tantrum. Y/n stopped her walking when she heard the word âfriendâ come out of Etsukoâs mouth. Y/n turned to look at Etsuko and Yuma with a surprised look. Etsuko and Yuma instinctively thought they misspoke and perhaps angered you.
âWeâre friends?â Y/n held a pause between the two words. Her incredulous face kept switching eye contact between the 2 first years in front of her. âYou donât even know if I will be your teammate yet.â Y/n stated. Etsuko bursted out in laughter and it caused Y/nâs face to turn beet red, embarrassed. Yumaâs face looked like she wanted to backhand Etsuko, but before she could, Etsuko spoke âYou donât have to be our teammate for us to be friends! There isnât criteria the last time I checked to be friends. Besides, youâre really cool!â
Yuma retracted her arm, despite Etsuko being a dumbass, she somehow always knew what to say in awkward situations. Y/n felt something that spread through her chest. It was a warm, fuzzy feeling. Etsuko and Yuma bid there goodbyeâs to Y/n, leaving her to get to her class. The feeling in her chest was not new, itâs just a feeling that she has not felt in a long time.
Y/n sat down in her seat and pulled out her notebook. Everyone started to take their seats. Right before the teacher reached to close the door, a short girl with a small blue hair tie in her short blonde hair just managed to slip through the door. She was out of breath and sweaty, muttering an apology and quickly sat at her desk, which was coincidentally on Y/nâs left side. The teacher began lecturing, instructing to open a page in their textbook.
The end of the school day approached rather quickly. Because of her most recent interaction with Etsuko and Yuma, she couldnât wait for the three on three. Specifically, who would she be playing against. While thinking of possible offense moves to coordinate, Y/n grabs her volleyball bag from her locker and makes her way to the girlâs gym. The door was already open and she peaked through to make sure there was no way she will be tackled again. She makes eye contact with a girl with short black hair, which she vaguely remembers as Sudou Rinko.Â
âHello! Iâm sorry I am a bit early, I just wanted to get a head start in warming up because I do take awhile for those.â Y/n quickly explains with a hint of timidness.
âThatâs alright! I already setted up the net so youâre welcome to warm up in here or outside, whichever you prefer.â Sudou stated, making sure she didnât seem to overbearing as others perceive her to be.Â
âOkay, thank you. I do prefer outside.â As much as Y/nâs face held a deadpan look, she was nervous in front of the third year. She didnât know if she could just head out or bow. Unfortunately, she went with the latter. Sudou cheeks turned red. She didnât really expect that, I mean in her eyes, sheâs just a third year. But, your formality was appreciated.
âHeh, no need to be so formal. Iâve seen what you can do even without warming up, and we would be lucky to have you on our team.â Sudou reassured.
Now it was Y/nâs turn to turn slightly red. Sheâs new to accepting genuine compliments. So, all she did was a weird salute with a firm nod of her head, and headed out.
That kid has an interesting way of interacting with people. Sudou thought to herself. Hopefully, sheâll be able to open up more. Sudou busied herself by warming up as well.
In the meantime, Y/n found a spot near the side of the gym where there were no trees and the sun just perfectly drenched the scenery with natural light. It was as if the sun placed a golden film over everything and settled on a calm atmosphere. Here, Y/n began stretching.Â
After awhile, Y/n was tossing a volleyball up in the air, getting comfortable with how the ball fit perfectly in her hands as she set it in the air. After a couple of sets, she got into the rhythm of bumping, setting, and spiking against a wall. While she was focused on the ball, out of her peripheral vision, she notices someone. After a spike, rather than bumping it, she catches it.
âIf you are going to stare any longer, I expect a name out of you.â Y/n stated with a calm yet stern tone while still staring at the wall in front of her.Â
âI-Iâm sorry. You just seem so focused.â The stranger spoke.
Y/n closes her eyes, when she opens them, she turns to look at the stranger. Heâs tall, way taller than her. Heâs got a beard and his hair is pulled into a tight bun. If Y/n didnât know any better, she would have assumed he was a teacher, but he was wearing a school uniform after all. With her eyes set on him, it was as if the guy visibly shook in fear and eyes widened.
âWell, you have to be, in an actual game of course.â Y/n responded.
âYou play?â The mysterious guy asks. He does have a calming voice for someone who looks like the opposite.
âIn order for me to answer, you should give me your name. Iâve been taught to not talk to strangers.âÂ
âOh r-right. Iâm Azumane Asahi.â
There was a beat of silence as Y/n kept staring at him, deciding how she should approach this conversation. In Asahiâs eyes, he thought she was judging him and he started to wonder why didnât he just mind his own business.Â
âYes, I play.â Y/n answered his previous question. Asahi perked up at her answer like a little puppy.Â
âYou seem like youâre really dedicated.â Asahi offered his observation to her. Y/n chuckles. Asahiâs eyes widened once more at the sudden reaction out of the girl.
âIâm guessing you play as well.â Asahi was dumbfounded at your observation. He was scared at how you were able to pick that up quickly.
âH-how did you-â
âSomeone who is able to easily recognize the dedication in one person, also finds that same dedication within themselvesâÂ
Damn, this girl is wise. Asahi thought.
âHowever, volleyball was just a guess.â Y/n continued. âAnd I was lucky enough to be right.â
âWell, I donât know about that.â
Y/n looked at him again. Y/n wasnât one to let someone divulge into their personal life. Mainly because no one really came up to her for advice since she was quite the nonchalant person. However, if today is any indication, it seems her social interaction skills has been given a second shot. Y/n analyzed Asahiâs troubled face.
âAre you having an internal battle?â
How unfortunate that you phrased it that way, Y/n. Jeez. You can be so formal sometimes. Y/n scolded herself.
âYeah, of some sorts.â Asahi responded with a puzzling look at the ground.
âAbout volleyball?â Y/n specified.
âUh, yeah.â he reluctantly responded.
âWhatâs up?â Y/n knew that was more informal and she mentally high-fived herself for talking like a normal teenager.
âCan I ask you a question?â
âYeahâ
âHave you ever not wanted to do something because you failed at it?â
A beat of silence.
âNo.â Y/n said confidently. However, she knew what he was trying to ask, so she added, âBut, Iâve felt frustrated at it before.â
âIsnât that the same thing?â
âWell, tell me, can you be frustrated at something yet you want keep trying it?â
Asahi didnât respond, just thinking of what she said.
âThe answer is yes, by the way. Volleyball is a sport where you are constantly improving yourself, just like any other sport really.â Y/n started to blabber on. âVolleyball provides that uncomfortable tension of not being enough. For some people, it discourages them completely, leaving them to quit or be stagnant. But, there are rare cases where the person is strongly encouraged by it. Those are the people who really do succeed.â
Asahi was deep in thought as he processed your words. As Y/n looks at Asahi, he looks like heâs going to hurt himself if he thinks any harder.Â
âHere, stand over there. Let me set for you.â Y/n commanded. Asahi Looks up, âh-how did you know I spike?â At this point, he thought you were some sort of psychic.
Y/n shrugs, âOnly an ace would have that mindset and label a simple mistake as a âfailureâ. You feel like youâre whole team depends on you, right?â Asahi nods with shame. âWell, I think you need to understand that the other 5 people on your side have their own jobs as well. Sure, they know that you are capable of grabbing a point, but thatâs because they are supporting you in the process.â
Asahi is quite overwhelmed at all the truth you are speaking, but it makes sense to him. Asahi obeys and walks where you pointed to.
âNow, run up like you are going to spike. Youâre job is to knock,â Y/n grabs an apple from her lunch box, âthis off of this trashcan.â Y/n places the apple on the the tin can and positions it in the way where a blocker would be in terms of where Asahi is standing. âImagine this,â she draws a line in the dirt with her foot, âis the net. And, I donât doubt that you are able to hit over the net.â
âO-oh I donât know, you see, I havenât really-â
âJust do it.â Y/n cuts him off with a sigh. Asahi gulps and catches the ball from Y/n.Â
He takes a deep breathe in. And a deep breathe out. He tosses the ball to you. Of course, Y/n perfectly sets the ball for him.
She notices after those deep breathes, it seems Asahi is a completely different person. He looks more focused and confident. His eyes are concentrated on the ball.Â
After the set, Y/n quickly looks over at the tin trashcan. And lo and behold, her apple is now on the dirt floor. Y/n smiles fondly. Asahi carries the most precious smile on his face.Â
âNow, how did that feel?â Y/n questions him.
âMakes me want to do another.â Asahi was staring at his hand as if the key to life was written on his hand. He then looked over at Y/n with a glint of inspiration in his eyes.
âThe boys volleyball team should still be practicing, right? I still have to start my own practice.â Y/n shares a soft smile, which she hasnât done in awhile. Asahi reverts back to a nervous state. Y/nâs guessing there is some awkward tension between that relationship.
âJust go to them. It never hurts to just try, right?â Y/n tries her best to be encouraging, but not too pushy.
âI-I donât know I left them so suddenly-â
âJust go! Or else.â Y/n knew she shouldnât use fear as a tactic to push him, but to be quite frank, itâs useful in these rare occasions. Asahi fervently nods, he didnât want to hear what came after âwhat elseâ so he quickly grabs his bag and starts his jog to the boyâs gym.
âOh wait! Whatâs your name?â Asahi was already a bit far, so she had to yell, âY/n! Good luck!â She cups her mouth as if that will totally help her voice travel to him. âWell, thank you, Y/n!â
Y/n picks up her things and heads towards the gym, where she has her own journey to embark on.
