Please go check these people out, all of them are extremely talented. Some of them even shared some insight and clever criticism into this series that I hadn't even thought of! (I especially like the Madeline Mayne ones as they poke into how both HB and HH fail at their queer representation.)

The fact that this actually turned out to be true is both sad and funny. I’m getting more than sick of how much the show woobifies Stolas and never holds him accountable for anything he does

This would've been amazing and actually focused on the original hazbin hotel premise like we were promised.

Daily reminder that there was already an actually interesting layout for Hazbin Hotel that ACTUALLY felt like it took place after the pilot but it very likely got scrapped for the bs that we got now-

Like THIS genuinely feels like some thought was put into it, unlike the official 'hey let's have a war with fucking Heaven as a season 1 finale and not put any work into getting to know any of the main characters'.

(And YES, I will be using this scrapped layout as groundwork for Limbo Ave. and possibly another au that's just basically the pilot version of HH continued for this storyline-)

(And DOUBLE YES, despite some of the plots being used in the official release I don't consider or accept it because it's obvious af that they just took the description from the scrapped work and just fucked off with everything else because no one could be bothered to take their time and think of a way to make the new stuff actually FLOW well)

In my interpretation Stolas and Starlla are dead and Octavia is a ruler of Ars-Goetia with her Knights/Bodyguards Shax (who loves Blitzø and Blitzø loves him back) and Platius a envious Ars-Goetia Platypus with four eyes).

Props to the artist who did theses designs, they look fantastic!

Someone in the animation industry just called out SpindleHorse for not being an indie studio and of course, stans start crawling out of their holes to defend their 'queen' Viv.

These are replies to the person who called SH out.

Here is another person who is sadly currently in a rough patch [probably] calling out SH. They would be calling out A24 because they have A24 in their bio, but they are following two actives SH employees who follows them back.

I mentioned this in a recent post already, but SpindleHorse is not really an indie studio anymore. They have outsourced animation to other studios, and you also cannot call your studio 'indie' if one of your shows is on a streaming service that is owned by a billion-dollar company. There is nothing indie about that, I think.

Hell, Spindlehorse is not even called an 'indie studio' on its very Wikipedia page. It is more like a private studio/company [that for some reason everything is done via Discord and does not have HR department.] The word 'indie' only shows up once.

I agree. The show never puts in the work to get us to sympathize with the sinners. They are constantly shown to be horrible people who want nothing to do with redemption, and honestly, why would they? Hell is designed for them. They can indulge in all their worst habits as much as they want as long as they are strong/powerful enough. A murder can kill in hell. Why would they want to be in heaven, aside from avoiding the extermination that they have AN ENTIRE YEAR TO PREPARE FOR! I think it is dumb.

One Hell of an Unpopular Opinion #04

The reason behind the Exterminations should've stayed to prevent Sinners from overpopulating the Pride Ring and I don't like how Hazbin Hotel portrays Adam as being in the wrong for hating Sinners.

The whole, "We kill Sinners for our entertainment," reasoning from Adam and Lute as well as, "I approved of the Exterminations to avoid Hell's Sinners from starting an uprising," reasoning from Sera is so stupid. Specifically, Sera's reason. Because logically approving of the Exterminations would only lead to more and more Sinners wanting to start an uprising with each passing Extermination. Adam and Lute's reasoning has to be the way it is so that the show writers can make it seem like Charlie's in the right when the show gives us reason to believe that she's actively wrong. For example, Angel Dust was born in New York City and into a Mafia family likely somewhere around the years 1912 - 1915 as he's stated to have died in his young to mid 30s in the year 1947 due to a drug overdose. Angel Dust was a mobster for most if not all of his life but he hasn't shown or stated that he feels any remorse or guilt for what he did back then. The only thing he feels guilty for is for his past self having signed that contract with Valentino which is totally valid however making a soul contract with Valentino isn't the reason why he's in Hell. Angel Dust is in Hell for being a murderer, a drug trafficker, a drug attic, a smuggler, and for likely having committed several other money related crimes. I swear, people hear or see the word Mafia and automatically think of death when the majority of their crimes are motivated by currency. Like, its still not good but its not just senseless murder either. The point is, we haven't seen anything about Angel Dust truly wanting to change. Yeah, there was that scene in episode #06 where Angel turns down Cherri's offer to do drugs but that doesn't suddenly mean he's no longer a drug attic for turning down ONE offer. Most of the Sinners we see or know of in Hell are fucking horrendous people. Alastor was and still is a serial killing cannibal because he can. Let me repeat. He WAS and STILL IS a SERIAL KILLING CANNIBAL because he CAN! There is an entire place in the Pride Ring known as the Cannibal Colony (in the show it got changed to Cannibal Town but I've been calling it Cannibal Colony for 4 years now and I do not plan on stopping), Martha's in Hell which makes sense considering she and her entire family were actual Devil worshipers, Loopty and Lipton experimented and killed the poor, and Valentino is a rapist. We still don't know enough about most of what the HH's cast did when they were alive which is why I think Sir Pentious ultimately getting into Heaven was a load of BS. We don't even know why he ended up in Hell in the first place but he tries to help his "friends" once and dies in the process and that's enough to get him redeemed???

Seriously, what did he do to deserve damnation? Also, I know Viv probably doesn't have Cain or Able as that would give Adam an understandable, even justifiable, reason for despising Sinners. His first and oldest son, Cain, is LITERALLY the FIRST SINNER. For what? For killing his younger brother, Able, by slicing his throat with a knife or sharp object in the same manner Able did when sacrificing his lambs. Although, I've also heard that Cain killed Able by bludgeoning him to death with a stone by repeatedly bashing it into Able's skull. Either way, if anyone deserves to hate Sinners the MOST then it's Adam & Eve without a doubt.

The merch got worse

I never posted two times a day about the same thing but I’m just gonna leave that here.

It just feels gross to sexualize the guy whose hypersexuality is the result of sexual assault, if you want more proof that Viv just doesn't give a crap about victims, then I don’t know what to show you. And seriously, now we’re making jokes about the fact that Angel can’t say no?

Simple answer? Money. It's probably less expensive to recolor a figure and call it a day than it is to make a whole new one. They were probably thinking, "What character can we recolor that make sense? Oh wait, didn't Alastor have a shadow form or something? We should do that!"

Was it a good idea? No, yeah, no. Sorry, no. Is it going to save vivsipop money? Probably. If I'm being completely honest, from a marketing standpoint, it makes sense. Companies do that all the time, but it does show a certain amount of laziness, and the want for money overshadowing the want to truly please the audience. If that makes sense.

Anyway, that's just my opinion on the situation. Still kinda messed up, though.

Another failed merch

Regarding Alastor’s new figurine, I perfectly understand what they were trying to do, it was supposed to be Alastor’s Shadow or something.

But, they don't look alike at all, the shadow doesn't have eyes or teeth and the antlers are supposed to be bigger. If they wanted to make a figurine of it, they should have given it a more malicious expression and a different pose. Otherwise it’d feel like buying the same thing but recolored.

They could have made those neons' red/blue eyes and mouths to reference the pilot and it could glow in the dark.

It just looks odd to do that, especially regarding what happened recently with the blackface.

But why do we even need an Alastor shadow figurine when it’s not even a character, it’s an asset to give more “mystery” to Alastor, most people who watched the show don’t pay attention to it. Why didn't Vaggie, who’s a much more important character, have a figurine?

As someone who is mixed, Alastor pisses me off for many reasons. I don't know if curly hair is a dominant trait, but every mixed person I know that has black genes has curly hair, even the whitest ones have curly hair, so why does Alastor have an ugly-ass straight bob?

As I said before, I have many problems with Alastor, but I won't mention them here.

I am unenthused by the lack of POC features on these characters.

Evidence that even hellborns or sinners can have brown skin and coiled hair without having to look like an animal or object (assuming that one of these characters is an imp or half imp)

If a background character can look infinitely better than most of the main POC characters, then it's just laziness that they appear to look more like...this rather than actually having black traits

Millie I can get she doesn't have brown skin considering she's a pure imp, but if an impish background character can still have brown skin like the one I mentioned above, then so can Millie

Also, since she's supposed to be black-coded, it's really a missed opportunity to not give her curly or coiled hair to actually show her black coding

Alastor is mixed race, yet his skin is so ashy instead of brown. I just don't understand why he can't have brown skin or curly hair as a sinner if one of Carmilla's daughters can have this design as well

And don't even get me started on the angel characters, especially Veggie Tales (I refuse to use her real name), because good lord do their designs lack in actual black coding

And I could see that some afro-latina characters or black characters in general could have straightened hair if it fits around a story involving racism and such, but, even if that is the case, they still lack in every other department to represent themselves as WOC

Also, I refuse to think that Sera's hair is made of dreadlocks because they look more like feathers rather than dreads (the closest being maybe a hairstyle similar to Rose Quartz from Steven Universe, but that's it and it doesn't really count as coiled hair tbh)

If you want to make black-coded characters, you gotta at least try to make them appear black-coded to the best of your ability

Give Alastor brown skin and curly hair

Give Millie coils

Let Vegeta (still not saying her name) have brown skin

Give Emily an afro that looks like the sun and Sera actual dreadlocks

Put some effort into your characters if you wanna present them as black!

So the Hazbin main antagonists are let me see here…..

A fat man (Adam) Black women in power (Sera, Velvette) A Latino in the sex industry (Val) An Asexual creole man who uses voodoo (Alastor) A fat woman whose a Jewish stereotype (Mimzy) And a fucking tv.

ok well what about Helluva?

a fat man (Mammon) literal babies (Cherubs) The agents one of which being a black HUMAN woman who still has grey skin A woman forced into an arranged marriage to a man she didn’t love (Stella) a cowboy (wtf is he even doing in this anymore)

but not the rich white allo rapist neglectful and biased upper class twink noooo he’s the victim of IMP, made up of a black woman, a sexual assault survivor and the guy he’s abusing.

these villains man… why are the majority minorities? Especially when we don’t see positive characters in those same minorities. Nope this is all Viv wanted to show about these minorities.
