No one would have believed, in the early years of the 21st century, that our world was being watched by intelligences greater than our own. That, as men busied themselves about their various concerns, they observed and studied, the way a man with a microscope might scrutinize the creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. With infinite complacency men went to and fro about the globe, confident of our empire over this world. Yet across the gulf of space, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic regarded our planet with envious eyes and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.

When my sister was younger she was terrified of the Martians from War of The Worlds, and especially the little 'wwaaaaaaooo' sounds from the album anyway we had electric toothbrushes and I realised that by moving my mouth while I used it it made different sounds and I'd stand outside her room at night or while we were brushing our teeth and make the wwaaaaaoooo and scare her also I'm so sorry to anyone who actually read this I knew how to phrase exactly 0% of this post have a nice day

I love Spielberg's adaptation of War of the Worlds.
It's a remarkable film, and one of Spielberg's great dream films, in the way that sometimes you'll have a dream, and it will start out meaning one thing, but by the end it will mean something else.
Action, drama, comedy, musical, romance, documentary, sci-fi, period pieces, crime, horror, thriller, mystery, etc. There’s nothing Tom Cruise can't do.
It's hard to understand why he hasn't won an Oscar, but he's already beyond the stage where he needs to prove himself with an Oscar. Instead, he has earned something far more valuable, the title of 'the last movie star in the world.' 👍
