What Is Wrong With People - Tumblr Posts

Very Upset!

My best friend and I decided to go and see Deadpool 2. There were maybe 6 people in the theater including us and I was very happy with the movie. Now, my best friend and I have a tendency to hold hands and I was curled against her as much as one could be in those seats for all the heartfelt moments and some of the mild core.

Nothing wrong with that, right?

Apparently there is. As the movie came to an end the two boys and grandmother behind us got up to leave. Suddenly, my friend felt something being sprayed on her shoulder. One of the kids had spit their drink onto her, probably aiming for the both of us. We went to the bathroom to see the damage and wash it off and as we stood at the sink, the woman next to us, who was the grandmother sitting behind us, gave us the most disgusted look she could muster before quickly leaving. My friend is not gay in any way and although I am bisexual, it was horrifying to believe they had done that just because of how we acted. We went through how we acted in the theater: we had whispered among ourselves and joked back and forth. We shared drinks and complimented the lesbian relationship.

Being that it’s Pride Month, I was more than horrified. We were just two close friends seeing a movie and were practically assaulted and looked down on just because we looked like two girls in a relationship.

Stay Safe this Pride Month everyone.

I know I don’t have a large following. I know this post will get lost in the sea of other posts. I know I don’t come on here often, and when I do I try to keep my page free from death and other serious topics. Yet, I think this is imperative to say, especially since I myself am of indigenous descent. I ask all of you to join me in solidarity.

Cole Brings Plenty, actor, model, and most importantly activist was found dead. He was assaulted in a club in Lawrence, Kansas. He was killed and his braids; a symbol of his heritage, of his Lakota decent, and a sacred symbol across many an indigenous nation, were forcibly cut.

I beg of thee and I plead with thee, spread the word. Do your part, however big or little, to bring light to this situation. Whether it be by reblogging this post or others alike, or by going out and making a stand. Do it.

Shed light on the situation. This goes beyond the death of one man. It is about the abuse and the destruction of natives and their communities. Of the killing of many an innocent soul. Of the brutalization of many First Nations.

We have seen time and time again, many indigenous people die by similar means. We need to bring light on the deaths of any and all indigenous individuals dead, missing or at risk. It is an epidemic, an assault, and a silent cleansing of many a nation.

Whether it be the estimated 6,000 dead at the hands of Canadian residential schools, the murdered and missing indigenous women and children, or the killing of an actor and activist, you cannot deny the sheer abhorrence of this problem. The problem of many Native American people dying, going missing and being abused, at an alarming rate. At a level unprecedented and unparalleled, at a level of which should not be kept silent.

Cole Brings Plenty, actor, model, activist.

Look at him and spread awareness for him and for many others befallen by the same fate.

Cole Brings Plenty, an indigenous man of Lakota descent. He has his hair worn in two braids, silver earrings in his ears, and is wearing a black suit with a white shirt and an ascot.

Remember him. Remember all of the others. Let nobody else befall the same fate again.

You should also trust your gut! You may think that you're just paranoid but if your gut tells you something, it's for a reason!

Pepper spay is illegal in some places so hairspray of mosquito repellents also work.

Also avoid going out alone if you live in a dangerous city, but if you have to go alone, go to a very public and well-lighten area!

And it's so sick that we have to live through this, but remember that we women aren't the only targets! Men are also victims to this sadly.

Stupid take.

And it's got that condescending tone of 'oh, how dare you!!! Jail for you as I'm a internet warrior!!! I know what I'm talking about!!!'. (I am aware I didn't put this in quotation marks. That's because it doesn't deserve quotation marks.)

A major can be so many things. What do you do with a film major? Sometimes you make films. Sometimes you make animated films, be a screen editor, sound producer, go onto to get a history PhD in cinematic, be a video editor, make documentaries, or even go straight back into academics as a film teacher.

Ask people about themselves! College is tough and people will love it if you ask the most basic follow up question of "What are you going to do with that?".

I'm a bio-chem major. I could go be a doctor, lawyer, or (what most people at my college think until we ask this one incredibly simple question!) drug discovery. I am doing none of those. I'm going to go work for NASA and study human genetic engineering.

(Just read the tags. Guys a poli-sci. No wonder they hate it. They have no plans and a useless* major, lol.)

*Technically not useless as it can be cool. Technically. Down there with business majors.

I really wish people understood that unless you are someone's parent, you don't need to be questioning the practicality of their life decisions. When someone tells you their major, you should say "oh, that sounds cool!" Do NOT ask them what they're "planning on doing with that." It may be an innocent question, but it comes across as super patronizing and just makes them anxious. Maybe they don't know yet. Maybe they've already planned it out extensively and don't want to go over it with you, their dentist. Maybe they don't plan their entire life around getting rich!

It's especially bad when the major in question is extremely self-explanatory. My sister majored in film and so many people asked her what she was going to "do with it." Oh, I'm going to be a doctor! OBVIOUSLY MAKE FILMS, BECKY. They didn't ask because they were curious about her plans, they asked because they wanted to know how she would make money. It was like they thought it hadn't occurred to her that it would be difficult. It's condescending as hell. I'm just so sick of random people thinking it's their right to question and judge other peoples' lives. It's not that hard to mind your own business.

What is actually wrong with me? Every time someone straight up tells me they like me, that they think I’m pretty or asks me out, I think they’re just messing with me. But the second someone looks at me for .5 seconds at the mall, I’m convinced they’re in love with me😭
