misadventures of a queer disabled DID system

No, there are not 69 of us but we are hiding in a trenchcoat.. medically recognised adult DID system studying to become a clinical psych. We are aware we make mistakes, we know we make mistakes, we're open to kind discussion!!!! 🇳🇿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Please remember, there is a person behind almost every post on the internet, including syscourse. Be kind.

...stop, stop, stop right there. That, my dear, is cause for concern

csa/sa warning [slightly graphic}

..our primary protector recently started listening to a podcast called 'the deep'. the host of the podcast dives into people's experiences with..well, anything challenging, traumatic..scary..

when i switched in we were listening to an episode speaking with a survivor of tween sa (12 year old in a relationship with a 26 year old)..

...and unlike our primary protector, i remember my own experiences having an erect penis forced down my throat while my hair was gripped so hard my eyes watered

...and somehow i only now placed that.. that was rape. that was by definition, sexual assault. even between two people over the age of consent that is still rape. but im eight (body is older), and the pastor took unforgivable advantage of us.

...it was only this podcast that..made me realise that was wrong..and i had every right to defend myself, my body, and to speak up.

i wish i did.

..rant???

We had an interview with a psychologist about gaining funding through our country's sexual assault support recently.

However, the outcome of the appointment was 'you have PSTD with high levels of disassociation but no DID'.

"Their perpetrator [in an SA] claimed to have DID. This may have increased the possibility of them believing they have DID." Yes, absolutely that would do it but not to the extent of having alters who are willing to speak on their own. No questions were asked about DID. Nothing was asked about hearing voices, 'waking up' not knowing where we are, find ourselves 'coming to', finding things that we don't remember buying, or even whether our memory is patchy. We did not complete the DES-II despite my request to include it.

No one who has DID wants it. We don't want it. I don't want it. I want to know what the fuck is going on so I can keep my system safe.

Nothing was asked about derealisation, depersonalisation, or dissociation, they chose not to do a DID/OSDD/DDNOS screen as everything “appeared normal” and that they believed they had no basis to diagnosis because of it.

CDDs do appear normal. And people who know us better (ie. our mother) than a psychologist we met for less than two hours agreed that it makes sense that we have a CDD. From a psychological perspective, I do understand trying to avoid diagnosing personality disorders under the age of 25, however, they refused to even dig into the diagnostic criteria for CCDs. That appears to me as poor psychology. I wish they had done some proper digging before making this claim.

BOIIII I NEEDED TO SEE THIS TODAY

We volunteer, and one of our coworkers is a lovely, chatty person who feels comfortable enough around us to share bits of their life and experiences, and they recently told us they're a system

They're in their mid-70s

They're married, they have kids, their partner takes care of them when they regress or switch

I know stuff can be hard and this disorder is going to affect us for the rest of our lives, but it's possible to live and be happy and functional and find people who understand and care

We get to grow old, y'all
