Chavvi was in her class when she heard the sound. It was soft. She had never heard of that sound before and by the look of her classmates, they hadn't too. Everyone were whispering among themselves while Chavvi listened to the sound with rapt attention. "Silence everyone," Professor Laya said and as always the class fell into silence. Only the soft sound was heard. "Professor, do you know what it is? It's starting to give me a headache," said a student. "It's just a sound. Get a hold of yourself," Chavvi said still looking out of the window. "Chavvi, back to your seat. Everyone calm down. I'll go check," she said and went out. Chavvi found it strange that something this beautiful was causing chaos among people. She recorded the sound on her phone whilst enjoying it. The professor walked in and said, "The sound is still a mystery but it isn't anything dangerous. The local police are investigating it. Let's get on with our class, shall we?" - "Did you hear the noise?" Vigyan asked the others as they entered into the cafe. "I saw the chief of the local police go barking mad when he heard it." "First of all, it's sound and I guess he would have to be examined for barking before that sound," Mridula said. "I have it in my phone. I recorded it but it was so beautiful and soothing didn't you think?" Chavvi said pushing the play button. "No!" shouted Mridula and Vigyaan in unison and stopped the player. "Are you mad? The whole cafe will go nuts if they hear it again. It's already on the news and they're calling the NCA to solve it. Whatever it was, I think it's a serious issue now," Vigyan said. "I agree with you, Chav but it is a strange sound. What if it's some ultrasound weapon or something?" Mridula said. "But how can something so beautiful be dangerous?" Chavvi asked. It's all in the genes. I had heard so much about my Grandmamma who I've never met. About how much she loved reading and how head-strong she was. Everyone used to tell me how very much alike her. I'd feel so overwhelmed with that comparison because she's been such a role model for me. My father told me how much she was into books and that she had huge collection which my father has preserved and he'd give it to me when we had the space and when I was ready for it. Yesterday we opened the first among the two trunks and the smell of that a century old books hit me with so much unknown bliss. Running my fingers over those books, I felt I was meeting my Grandmamma. She hadn't gone to school and studied but she had that thirst of knowledge and she collected all this on her own to quench her thirst. It is full of Kannada books. My father welled up a bit as he went through the memory lane and I did too. I took a few books which I felt I could read and I felt I was taking a part of her that I could carry with me. It also had a few books which I've wanted to read and it showed how much our reading taste matched. It's all in the genes. there is something that is so genuinely fucking heartbreaking to me about aled drifting away from charlie and tao (and the rest of the paris gang) post-heartstopper and pre-radio silence.

to the point where they're not even considered at all as a part of his support system.

they didn't fight but they just... drifted. did aled spend their last year at truham apart from charlie and tao, alone?? i guess everyone else paired off with one another except him and sahar, so I suppose they got left behind?? I need answers and details, I just keep thinking about how this happened and it makes me so sad because, realistically, this is how a lot of friendships end. it hits so hard because it's happened to most. but you just wouldn't expect it to happen to this group, y'know?

they seem close now (by now I mean in terms of heartstopper), which is near the end of their second term of year 11 at truham (we know because charlie's birthday has already passed).

i'm assuming they begin really drifting over the summer, which is when carys leaves. i'm assuming this because it makes sense that aled would begin shutting down and shutting people out at this point. they're not seeing each other every day over the summer anyways, so it makes it even easier for them to just spiral alone. maybe they still hang out a bit during year 12, but by the time radio silence begins at the end of year 12, they have stopped hanging out and probably only talk in classes.
