Dont Let Your Disorder Define You
“Don’t let your disorder define you”
Okay but do you support the people whose disorders do define them?
Do you support people with the chronic illnesses who have had to develop whole lives around their conditions? Do you support the intellectually disabled people whose whole way of thinking is defined by their disorder? Do you support the people with personality disorders who literally have a disorder as a personality? Do you support the autism/ADHD people whose disorder you can’t separate from who they are? Do you support the DIDOSDD people who have multiple definitions of themselves because of their disorder?
Or are you just saying that because a disorder defining someone means you can’t ignore it.

Every professional psychiatrist/psychologist I’ve ever met have always assumed my attachment to my mum was too dependent and tried to treat me based on that which is why it was wild that I went to two sessions with a specialist in my disorders who immediately told me that I showed all the signs of having no attachment to anyone in my life especially my mother.
That’s a lot of learned behaviours added to exacerbate an already awful attachment style.
When you have an under-researched disorder people miss so many important things that could have helped you much sooner because they just assume the obvious.
Don’t be afraid to push back when you know they’re missing something important. It’s your brain they’re messing up.
Petals of a Rose
An accurate depiction of DID
This is an incredible little video ❤️
It's about a woman trying to date while living with DID, and it really did feel accurate to me. Clever use of cuts really helps portray what it's like to switch in the middle of tasks and how... Loud things can get inside your head. It feels... More real and respectful and than anything else I've ever seen, and it approaches relationships in such a... Well, accurate way.
There are two versions-- a full version, which contains a scene with sexual content and a flashback that some may find triggering, and a redacted version with those scenes cut out. I've watched both and can confirm that you can watch the redacted version without missing anything (it was just so well done).

WHAT THE FUCK
JESUS NEMO CROSSOVER????
When she says that your arguments with your abuser were like watching a pantomime “oh yes it is” “oh no it isn’t” while she tried to stop it when what she’s referring to is actually you being frightened and trying to defend yourself while your abuser screamed emotional abuse at you and she stood watching the whole thing (oh and by the way this was going on from birth) :
