It's like gravity falls but YA fiction
I GOT THREE LOOKS AND THATS IT
A HOMELESS MAN (ideas coming faster than I can write them down, causing me to forget the one masterpiece my mind has ever created.)
A TWELVE YEAR OLD BOY (imposter syndrom)
AND A HOOKER (daydreaming scenes instead of writing them down)
Three Act Story Structure Explained, Works for Any Genre
This post will be about Act One, When Act Two And Act Three are completed (by today) I will link them here.
PLUS SOME BUILT IN CHARACTER DEVLOPMENT
HOOK: A look into the character's desires and fears. What does your character want and what is stopping them?
INCITING INCIDENT: This is what kick starts the external plot. A conflict surfaces— one the protagonist must face. Don't over complicate this, if your character reacts like a normal person that's perfectly good. How does this push your protagonist outside their comfort zone? Why does this matter based on the characters personality, desires, and fears?
BUILD UP OF THE STORY: Show the character struggling, reveal to the readers what their internal struggle really is. How is it stopping them from doing what they need to do?
THEY MESS UP: Your protagonist is torn between their desire and fear. They knowingly or unknowingly make the wrong decision, setting up problems for your characters later. What decision are they going to make now to avoid the most pain? And how will they try to get what they want while try to avoid what they fear?
THE ANTAGONIST: (doesn't have to be a character just something stopping the protagonist) Something happens that the character will regret later. How can you show the reader the danger/problems looming in the distance.
