Can I Just Say It Is So Weird To Me That Fantasy Worlds Have Normal World Shit But With Magic To Make
Can I just say it is so weird to me that fantasy worlds have normal world shit but with âšmagicâš to make it different?
Like, I've been on this one game recently and supposedly, humans have essentially killed themselves several centuries ago and yet, the new beings still... Hunt for fur and... Use wood to build houses?
Then they have the audacity to say humans went extinct because of their destructive behavior. Excuse me? Didn't you just send me on a quest to chop down 1000 trees so you can build a bed?
Like no offense, but this is so strange to me that our fantasy worlds are so basic and solve no problems at all.
Like where's the worlds where space dust is used as the foundation for houses and the exporting of said dust is illegal unless sourced ethically; or glass is useless and plastic has replaced it because we found a way to make it useable in extreme conditions like glass after the Earth was turned into a giant rubber ball.
Oh, I especially hate the magic used to fix a mundane problem. Come on, why can't the problem just not exist? I'm looking at you self cooking kitchen utensils. I want either food to be conjured by the snap of a finger or for humans to have found a way to never feel hungry.
It's just always "yeah, Humans have been extinct for eons and the universe died and was recreated, but we have no way to stay warm other than hunt animals for pelt."

An random note on perfectionism.
Not that I've seen any recent examples, but I was thinking about this and wanted to share.
In most stories, when characters are perfectionist, it's always written in a way like the end of their world is not finishing a project or work with everything perfectly done so they have to settle for less. But, there's another form I barely see people write about.
Perfectionism can be your inability to finish anything if it's not perfect.
Take me for example.
I've been turned into a perfectionist from several things, but most importantly, from the lack of support on anything I ever did.
Then, when I got older, that turned into me never finishing anything because I assumed it wouldn't work anyways.
Now as a fully grown adult, I will actually not do something if I feel it isn't going to be perfectly the way I want it to. As if having things done perfectly is the guage for people caring about something.
Now, I've become a slacker.
So, next time you write a perfectionist, you can write a slacker perfectionist who will not do any work because they know they can't get it perfect. That is also valid.

Now, it's time to introduce the characters!
First up, is my main main character
Larson "has a last name but doesn't want to share it"

Larson is a young man who regularly hates people. At first he thought these were just his normal feelings, but he finds out it's actually because he's not even a human, so of course he hates humans!
Well, Larson hates everyone but humans have a special place at the top. His high school career has him spending most his time trying to find any information about his real species.
When his work is left stagnant, that's when he meets someone he didn't expect to.

Here's a scene to showcase his wonderful personality
At the moment, they were at lunch ready to discuss their ideas. Cassie was sitting at the lunch table with her plate full of foods that werenât good for anyone, including herself. She wiped her hands clean of the bright orange grease from the pizza she finished and now, she was currently eating a sandwich from her lunch bag.
She munched on this food while Larson told her their best odds.
âI donât know if you can hear me over all that noise youâre making, but if this is screwed up, I wonât think to leave you in a heartbeat.â
Cassie swallowed what she was eating and spoke. âYou must really think Iâm not in this the same way you are. Look, just because Iâm not frowning and getting my big girl pants on doesnât mean Iâm not serious.â
âCould have fooled the hell out of me.â Cassie ignored that and moved her tray over to him. âWhy?â Was all he said.
âIâm offering you some. You donât eat at all, at least whenever I see you, youâre not.â
âBecause we donât get hungry often.â
âI know, but we still have to eat so why not just eat anyways?â
âI eat when I have to. Nothing more.â Larson stated.
Cassie snickered. âYou must eat like a salad and some water huh?â Larson grabbed her wrist right before she was about to eat something causing Cassie to drop it. Her other hand grabbed it before she complained to him. âI must be right if you thought to do that.â
He let her hand go and rested his head in his hand. âYouâre so fucking annoying.â
âThank you!â Cassie returned to eating, but stopped suddenly and looked behind Larson.
He turned his headâcurious by what she was looking atâand he saw a girl smiling at them both.
Larson groaned. âWhat do you want?â He turned back to face Cassie.
Cassie looked at the girl and offered her an apologetic smile.
âUh, well, I wanted to invite you two to a party Iâm throwingâŠâ she trailed, âitâs kind of far from here so if you donât have a ride-â
âWeâre good,â Larson said cutting her off.
âB-but, you can bring each other if you want!â The girl pleaded.
Larson opened his eyes and looked at Cassie. Cassie just kept eating without saying a word. He then sighed and got up facing the girl.
âI know what kind of angle youâre trying to pull here, but Iâm not interested in spilling my seed in some worthless being. Not even her,â he said pointing behind him at Cassie.
âEw.â Cassie mumbled.
The girl's eyes widened. âI-I wasnât asking you to-â
âReally?â The girl pressed her lips together to Larson's comment. âI mean besides the fact that you always stare at me, youâve slept with pretty much half the school. So I must be next on the list, huh?â
The girlâs mouth opened and she just took off to the door of the cafeteria. Larson scoffed and sat back down.
Cassie stared at him for a while and eventually Larson let out a groan. âIâll gouge your eyes out if you keep staring at me like that.â
Cassie clicked her tongue. âSee? Like that.â
âWhat are you talking about now?â He was exhausted.
âYou could have declined her in a more⊠human way.â
Larson watched as Cassie reached for more food. He sighed and spoke while putting his elbow up to rest on the table. âIf I did that, then Iâd be leading her on and I donât have the slightest intention of doing that.â
âYou wouldnât be leading her on if you just said youâre not interested.â
âYes I would. Humans always think thereâs a chance for them to get one in just as long as youâre not taken.â
Cassie just shook her head, âspeaking of which; not that I want that, but why arenât I âworthyâ of your seed?â She then laughed at herself after saying that, Larson just stared at her. âOkay, Iâm sorry, but I still want an answer.â
Larson sighed. âItâs pointless either way. So I told myself Iâd never reproduce.â He simply stated.
âWhy?â
âI just said why!â He grew agitated.
âOkay, maybe itâs pointless, but wouldnât you want to see what a little you would look like?â She spoke happily at the idea.
âYeah, my parents have baby pictures.â
âBoo, youâre no fun.â

Not so fun fact: That friend of mine told me Cassie was annoying and I should change it, someone else did as well and it made me sad (though I never told them that) but then I thought about other characters like this and realized they only thought she was annoying because she was a girl. Prime evidence: Spongebob from season 1-4 was "annoying" but we liked him for that. Also, they didn't find Larson in need for a change despite my intent to make him unbearably mean sooooo idk I think their bias was showing.
Fun fact: Larson gets some scars on his face at the end of the 1st book, so if I ever draw more, he's suppose to have scars, but I forgor sometimes.

Jax Barmen!

He's a super cute cutie and aside from his role in the story being related to the researcher who initially discovered 4th Dimensional beings (no, that's not a big deal in the story). Jax serves as the groups researcher.
He's extremely intelligent and enjoys theoretical research. Being a senior in high school, he has plans to go off to college and become a theoretical scientist.
Jax is also the pretty/popular boy of the school. Everyone loves him because he's personable and friendly. Jax is my sweet boy who tries his best to make sure the girls and women around him are taken care of and comfortable, and anyone else is met with nothing but kindness. I don't even think it's possible for him to even have bad thoughts.
Jax is also kind of the dad of the group being able to settle everyone down when they're feeling stressed or anxious about something. Outside of that, Jax often is the reasonable one of the group being able to make rational decisions and account for what they should or shouldn't be doing.
I actually just made this drawing randomly and it's not based on the excerpt. Here, Jax and Cassie are essentially having a sleep over where Jax is going to teach her something she's interested in. They're so cute too, they're suppose to he wearing matching PJs âș
Also, his hair is different because I'm very bad at drawing đ

Here's a snipit of him!
It was now silent in the car, Jax got to a stop light and spoke to the pair.
âYou guys are arguing about this? Have either of you thought about the actual situation?â
Larson looked at Jax. âYou must want to die.â Larson threatened. âI am thinking about the situation.â
âNo, youâre only thinking about disagreeing with Cassie because you believe sheâs wasting our time. You have yet to say any kind of idea you have.â
Larson looked off and let out an audible sigh.
Cassie smiled. âYeah, at least Iâm trying to come up with something!â
Jax looked back at Cassie. âAnd you are deciding things without concern about consequence.â
Cassie shrunk under his voice. âBut I-â
âI know, Cassie, you think this will be good. So I have to ask you, why is it good?â
Cassie sat back. âBecause⊠weâll get to have allies if we help them?â
âThatâs a good reason, but here you miss a major pointâwe could also find out more about rifts. If they know things we donât then itâll only benefit us, but at what cost?â
Cassie was going to say something, but remained quiet.
So Jax continued. âWe donât know if theyâre stronger than you guys and they very well might be. So maybe next time just say you have a good idea and we can go from thereâŠâ Cassie pressed her lips together. âAnd Lars, maybe donât doubt Cassie for every little thing she does. Have some faith in her gut choices and listen to her suggestions, but I agree with your concern. This might be a huge waste of time, but I believe weâll get something out of it and thatâs worth the risk.â
The silence continued after he finished talking. The frustrated pair sat with his words without a single retort. Eventually, when the light turned green, Jax started to drive again.
Larson let out a sigh and spoke. âBesides sounding like a parent whoâs scolding his children, youâŠhave a point,â Larson began, âbut what are we even going to get from this?â
âAs I said, we may be able to learn more about rifts. As well as other species that might exist within them.â Jax stated calmly.
Larson sighed. âFine, weâll consider taking this guy downâŠâ
âAlright, weâll go from there.â With that Jax ended the conversation...

Fun fact: his design still isn't what I want, but it's close enough that I'm willing to settle for this. Jax also does his own hair and at one point, I added a scene where Cassie doesn't know how to give herself cornrows and Jax helps her đ

Cassie Ann, the deuteragonist of the story.

She is an energetic young woman who tries her best to make everyone around her happy. Being a 4th Dimensional being just like Larson, she also is curious about her species and essentially forced Larson to let her help him.
She is very headstrong and has a hard time listening to others who aren't making sense. Despite this, Cassie is a sponge and any emotion anyone currently has, she usually feels it as well. This makes her grow empathetic towards even the worst of people. It doesn't cloud her judgement though and she will only help someone if she feels like it.
Cassie is going to be in every other scene I made because she's so friendly, she's involved in almost everything the group does. Cassie is made to be the catalyst for most everything that happens and if not for her, no one would even interact with each other.
P.S. the scenes she's in with the other characters aren't colored because 1. I'm too lazy, but also because I got tired of having to get the right colors every time I drew them. Then in 2023, I learned about color pallets đ¶âđ«ïž
I'm also thinking of this right as I'm about to post this, but she's the Deku to Larson's Bakugou lol.
Anyways, I was going to draw her in these different hair styles, but I decided just to have a mention that Cassie's hair is different throughout the story. She is black and I like to be realistic and not rude when it comes to making black people and their integral hairstyles :) Also this helps so people can relate to her a bit.

As for this form, this is something I haven't written, but clearly got the idea for. In the second book, the beings called Selestials are a species of rock people who are born through the energy of their earth. Because Cassie isn't a human, she's able to endure the process of this birth and ends up in this form!
This was also just "I'm a super big fan of my own work and wanted to see her in this form" so I ended up adding it in the story.

Here's a little scene for her:
Cassie made off as swiftly as possible, wasting no time when she was finally let go. As Cassie was walking around, she made sure the phone was still up and could see everything she was seeing. After her check, she took another look at her surroundings.
Thereâs nothing here! What am I even looking for?
Cassie looked out and could see all the other planets.
It was still a sight to behold. She was amazed at how beautiful the universe was and found herself thinking that they should visit other planets after this. She sighed, but right now weâre on a mission huh?
Cassie decided to keep walking and found nothing on the barren planet, so she picked up a rock and put it inside her bag to take home, but then she heard a noise. She suddenly turned⊠and saw nothing there.
âLars?â She called out.
Nothing was to be heard, but she was sure she heard something. Cassie shook her head and resumed walking when the noise returned.
She didnât turn around this time, but instead reached for the rock she collected. With it gripped in her palm, she waited until hearing the noise again; which she did. Quickly, she turned around and threw the rock as hard as she could in that direction.
The rock shot out just barely missing the one who was now behind her. This person stood with a smile on their face, unphased by the rock that almost hit him. He looked human, so Cassie thought they had to be like them.
Cassie thought this optimistically. âIâm sorry if I almost hit you with that⊠I thought you were my friend.â
âSo that other one is with you?â He asked himself. âThen itâll be easy to make quick work of you two. As long as youâre not together, thisâll be easy.â
His words were strange and they only caused Cassie to sigh when she realized what she may be in for.
Her optimism was squashed as she spoke. âUm⊠are you going to try and kill us?â
He chuckled. âMaybe not, if you decide to work with me and not against me.â
âTo do what?â
âDestroy anyone who feels they can oppose me and make me the ruler of the entire universe!â
Cassie stared at him as he spoke. She sighed and walked over to a larger boulder she saw, she set her bag down and made sure the phone was angled perfectly.
âAre you abandoning your earthly possessions?â Asked the strange male.
âNo, I just donât want my phone to break when I attack you.â
âWhat are you-â
He was cut off when Cassie punched him square in the face. This sudden and intense impact caused him to fall to his knees. Cassie stood behind him and waited for him to lift his head up. She grabbed a fistful of his hair and spoke to him.
âI donât know if you think youâre stronger than meâŠI mean, you might be, but much like I was against Lars, I canât let you do whatever you want.â She stared down at him with a blank look on her face.
Her banter caused him to chuckle. âAnd whyâs that? Because you fear the destruction of this world and everything in it?â
âNo, I just donât want to have to listen to someone whoâs first line was getting rid of someone.â
The male found himself laughing even more now. He reached back to grab Cassieâs arm, he did so and Cassie stared at him with the her expression unchanged.
âThen weâll have to see if youâre strong enough to stop me!â
She sighed to that. âWhy couldnât the first thing we found have been friendly?â
The man laughed and reached to strike CassieâŠ

Not- so-fun fact: this Cassie is pretty much the only one I have built like this. All my other Cassies are shy, anxious, and don't talk. I always love writing her this way, but, the person who review swapped with me said that Cassie had to have some kind of underdeveloped mental state because she frequently acted as a child would... when she's only seventeen. Again, I feel this was only said because she's a female.

May we interest you in some drabble of how the 3 Seasons boys each hold your hand? đđ
Written for warmups as vanade jumps back into outlining Briar's route! Text versions included as image descriptions on each picture, and included below the cut.
Holding your hand: Yuto Edition
Yuto reaches for your hand with hesitanceâeven now that you're togetherâas if he's afraid to let himself touch you... Afraid his cool skin might make you flinch away instinctively. He knows you don't mind, but it's a tough habit to break. You find it cute though, how his pinky finger interlocks with yours in quiet silence, wordlessly seeking your consent. You don't need to look at him to know his gaze is averted, the tips of his ears flushed a soft pink, peaking out from his long white hair. You slip your hand into his, intertwining your fingers with a gentle squeeze. He returns your gesture with a firmer grip, the way you'd hold on to something precious you dare not lose.
Holding your hand: Sol Edition
Sol's hand finds yours with such natural confidence. His palm is rough from constant time spent outdoors, and his lightly calloused thumb runs over the back of your hand unconsciously even as he chatters at you about something irrelevant. He tugs you along like an excited kid, his grip sometimes loosening in his excitement to show you things. Every now and then though, something he sees or says will remind him of youâyou catch the glint of affection in his eyes as he squeezes your hand, a silent gesture of gratitude that you're with him.
Holding your hand: Rye Edition
Rye's fingers intertwine with yours slowly, assuredly. He enjoys this act and display of intimacy: the symbolism of your bond through physical touch. He doesn't hesitate in the slightest... if anything, his slow and deliberate gesture loudly signals his confidence and his love of romantic actions. It's his own way of communicating to you the thrill and happiness that being in love with you has given him⊠the ability to shower affection on his own special someone.
