You're in for a long ride... 1 series...2 series...3 series...4 series...5 series...6 series and 3 huge ass novelas. Once you're in--there is no way out. But you won’t want a way out. 

Yes, we have a TV show...no it is not like the books and yes it is trash (fight me). Humour (hell yes, even when their shouldn't be...Herondales got your back making tense situations lighter since 1234 ;)  Tears, plot twists and a lot of family drama...if you can figure out which family you're from but if you can’t some immortal warlocks will probably remind you of what a prick your ancestors were (or otherwise).

Wait oh yeah and they fight demons sometimes but are usually caught up in fighting wars over their own messed up political systems. If you don’t like someone there's always someone else. A L W A Y S. The characters are endless, (you'll figure out how to keep track of them all)  but you’ll love each and everyone with whatever shards of your heart you still have left :) Think someone or something is insignificant. (think someone is dead?) HA. THINK AGAIN!

will you cry? yes. will it be worth it? A B S O L U T LY. Ships? HELL YES. Fandom ship conflict...sometimes, except over MALEC. because....no. They are untouchable.

A Newbie’s Guide to YA Literature Fandoms

So, you’ve stumbled upon this fantastic (please note my combined use of sarcasm and eager honesty) website - Tumblr.  Or, perhaps, you’re reading a screenshot of this on Instagram or Pinterest.  Whatever you’re on, it’s official.  You’re a part of the fandom.

How does one survive in a fandom?  Here’s a guide, sorted book by book… and don’t worry if you do not see your fandom yet - the list will receive future additions. 

1.  A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Yikes.  I can’t help you.  Be prepared for lots of conflicts over characters - Do we stan Tamlin, Nesta, and Elain?  Do we ship Elriel (Elain x Azriel), Elucien (Elain x Lucien), or neither?  Don’t forget to use caution - we have a lot of ~steamy~ jokes floating around here

2.  Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Wow, this is intense.  Personally, I am not heavily into Tumblr’s HP fandom, but I can say one thing - Non-canon ships.  We sink canon and let the best ships sail.  Drarry?  Totally.  Wolfstar?  Most definitely.  Romione?  Debatable.  Dramione?  Not as popular as Drarry, perhaps, but also debatable.  Hinny?  What’s that?  Does that exist?  What’s that, now?  I’m forgetting something important?  Oh, yeah… how do we feel about Snape?  Also, what’s your Hogwarts house?  You should know that.  Keep that very close - but don’t be afraid to blur the lines between houses.

3.  Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

What do we want?  THE CROWS TV SHOW.  When do we want it?  Now!  This may actually be the most wholesome fandom on this site.  Except, there’s one little thing… but I won’t spoil it for you.  Because.  It.  Never.  Happened.

4.  Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Turn back.  Turn back NOW.  Your heart is important.  Don’t let anyone rip it out of your chest… and NEVER.  EVER.  TRUST SOMETHING THAT SAYS “FRIENDLY REMINDER.”  There is a 95% chance that it is most definitely not friendly.  Oh yeah, there’s also a huge stockpile of pre-KOA theories…

And So I Write

You will undoubtedly find pieces of myself littered haphazardly among these pages. You will find them strewn about in every paragraph. Every Sentance. Every phrase. In every word. 

Sometimes when I need to give, pieces of myself, and I have lost all the people I throw myself away to… I turn to these pages. To lose myself to. And yet, when I know I must, I cannot. The words will hit a roadblock somewhere. My fingers itching and yet unable to find the words. 

And so I write anyways.

I write this. I write that. I write it all. Nonsense and gibberish. I write. When I have words but do not know what they have to say. Put pen to paper and find release among lost pieces of myself. Let the backlog of thoughts disperse through words and ink. Incoherent and Intangible. 

Whether or not it makes sense doesn’t matter in the moment. All that matters is the words flowing through me, thrumming in my veins, making up all that I am. ANd so I make them real. Give them a place to exist so that they may grant me temporary peace, and so that I may exist without a buildup of unsaid words chocking me. Building up in my chest, filling my lungs, making it hard to breathe.

And so I write. 

I write the nothingness into something. Let the thoughts I can not articulate flow out through pieces they do not relate to but rather let their tortured vocabulary enlighten my release.   ‘

And so I write.

And leave a couple more pieces of myself folded in these pages, stained in ink. So when I am not whole, I can remind myself that once I had excess parts of myself to give. And I left them behind.

So now and then, I write.

ME TOO FEYRE ME TOO

okay, but can we appreciate that even in a society where for example Helion and Thesan and Nephelle are openly gay Sarah J. Mass still depicted how difficult is it can be for others especially lesbians to come out and be out and live their lives, especially in powerful positions?

Also, I think I’d be okay with Azriel and Elain, because Azriel can be kind and soft and Elain can kinda sing his demons to sleep (HA! shadowsinger? you see what I did there ;) ) and I need someone who we trust to take care of our baby Elain, but only if there was no mating bond. Because how can Lucien really commit to another relationship with that tug always there? 

Rant on the mating bond coming up 

Elain x Azriel: W.T.F.

SCROLLING THROUGH TUMBLR AND SEEING ELRIEL FANFICTIONS HAS ME SHOOK! 

Wait! People ship Azriel and Elain!? NO! WHAT!? WHY!? Lucien deserves the happiness and purity Elain will bring to his life (they’re totally end game) and what is the whole mating bond for then!? I know the bond can be rejected but– but– but– THEN WHAT ABOUT MOR!? 500 years of sexual tension for what!? 

 Azriel just emits big brother vibes towards Elain…just why tho… I get they cling to each other but it’s a protective soul bond (IK THAT SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE WHAT THE MATING BOND IS BUT NO) just– like calls to like and–*stunned silence* I have never hated any ship more in. my. life.
