A queer Sci-Fi / Fantasy comic anthology

Here we GO! I’ll be posting about this as long as it’s going on! I’m in this! Please support this wonderful project!
Beyond is an anthology of queer sci-fi and fantasy comics. Featuring 18 stories by 26 contributors, Beyond is a 250+ page, black and white, queer comic anthology, full of swashbuckling space pirates, dragon slayers, death-defying astronauts, and monster royalty. Each story celebrates and showcases unquestionably queer characters as they explore the galaxy, mix magic, have renegade adventures, and save the day!

this was the poem published in A Luxury We Cannot Afford, a 2014 poetry anthology edited by Joshua Ip and Christine Chia! I’m quite sure… I can post my own work 2 years after it has been published… hahaha. anyway you can buy it here for S$19! (bit pricey I know) (but hey I don’t make the rules) (I really don’t) (please buy it it has poems that are way better than mine)
he savours the taste of the words on his tongue– sugar-coated extravagance, chocolate fondue, opulent red wine; but too much sugar ruins you. and poetry, he tells himself, is not pragmatic: not the sharp bite of the economy, the crunch of success, the gristle of globalisation. this is not what they need. so he takes a deep breath. steps onto the podium. counts to three, and swallows.
These lovely, lovely people are excellent support. The Facebook group has given me so much in terms of resources and community interaction. I submitted a few things to their work-in-progress guide! Here's hoping they like really long prayers and poetry.
Interview: Temple of Sumer

[Today, we sit down for a quick interview with Sam Jackson and Steffy Vonscott of the Temple of Sumer. The organization, dedicated to reviving the polytheistic traditions of ancient Mesopotamia, is in the process of putting together a guide for the curious and new practitioners. Here, they discuss their devotion to their tradition and Gods, common misconceptions about Sumer, and what they are looking for in terms of submissions.]

Attention duelists! I will be at Comiket with Sammy this coming Saturday! I would love to see some of my London-based pals there if you can make it.
Also Inspired comics have a tumblr that you should probably follow, especially because the dates of shows I will be attending are put up much more reliably over there.

Sarah and I booked a last minute little table at Comica Comiket independent comics fair this Saturday. We’ll be taking highlights of our most recent solo comics plus our collaborative music zine and Inspired’s Eat Me! anthology!!
Thanks and see you there!

We’re now able to announce that the anthology we’re working on is called Mixtape and the cover has been illustrated by Sarah Fogg. The comics don’t have a theme this year so the variety reminds me of a playlist of songs from different genres.
There are more behind the scenes blogs to post this week. It’s getting very exciting because we’re near to our print deadline.
Thanks!
Sammy

Here's a one-page preview of a comic I made this year, 'The Music Cupboard', featuring Poppet the House Hob!
As we approached the deadline for Mixtape Sammy and I were worried there wouldn't be enough submissions, so even though we'd already finished comics from the earlier deadline we both did a second one. As it happens right at the last minute we got a lot more submissions, so we needn't have worried, but I was already finished so hopefully we can use both!
I had a lot of trouble coming up with an idea for a second comic, so I asked Sammy for help. She said to try using characters I already had, and I'm glad she did because I ended up with a new Poppet comic! I hope that if I keep making these I can print them in some kind of compendium with Bad Fairy Bakery, or in a special Poppet issue of What's the Time Mrs Woolf?.
Sammy's posting previews of all the comics on the Inspired blog, if you want to see what the others are doing!
Hey hey! Sammy's put the new anthology up to buy online! She's also made a neat little preview video to show a bit more of what you can expect.

Here's a little one-page preview of one of the comics I've done this year. Originally it was intended for a music-themed anthology, but we did the music zine instead, so now it will appear in Mixtape. (Which we'll have at Inspired events from May onwards.)
I've used this floaty ink effect for a ghost story before, so I'm pleased to look at this comic and think I've got better at it.
Sammy's been putting up one-page previews of the other comics on the Inspired tumblr. You should look if you like comics!
The next event we're going to is Bristol Expo this weekend, I hope some of you can make it down to say hello!
The Terrifying Tales by Edgar Allan Poe - a book review
if i were given the choice to only say one thing about edgar allan poe's writing, i would say that i absolutely adore his writing style. now there are many reasons for this but i suppose the prime and most important one of all is how he describes his scenery and characters. he describes people and places in such great detail that creating a mental image of them is a very simple and easy thing to achieve. another thing that i admire greatly about his writing, and this one is mostly about his mystery writing, is how intricate he makes his mysteries. he creates them in such a way that it requires for you to think outside of the norm in order to solve the cases mentioned in his writings. i honestly think that it is brilliant. over all, i would definitely recommend edgar allan poe's writing but i will say that if grotesque descriptions, murder, horrific things, or anything of the like makes you uncomfortable, do not read his works. note: i also read the poem annabel lee and i have to say that i really really like it. it's brilliantly well written.
the urge to write a horror anthology show is growing....
It'll probably be for my horror ideas that are more "silly" and cannot be developed into a full film.
If anyone would like to work with me, PLS DO!!
I will try to write them all at some point, the poll is just to see which one is liked the most. I'll come up with more ideas for the anthology but these are my starting point so far??
