Chapter 8: Someone to stay

warnings: mention of suicide attempt
Jessy's POV
– Do you know that she saved me?
I whispered, looking into the distance. The sky wasn't beautiful. It was overcast so you couldn't see the stars. It was dark, gloomy and cold. It accurately reflected my condition as well as my companion's.
– Not only you. – Jake replied, his voice was hoarse
I looked up through my teary eyes at his face, which was illuminated by the moonlight, to see the shadows under his eyes have become even more pronounced. He was so tired.
– A few days after Richy's funeral, I wanted to die. – I started again without looking at him. All the walls around our broken hearts have fallen, leaving only the truth. A devastating truth. – I drank myself into unconsciousness even though I hadn't done so in a good few years. And I was standing there. On the bridge, swinging over the edge. I..
The hacker was tense. It was probably one of the few conversations he had with another human being. But I had to confess my sins. They've weighed heavily on my heart for too long, and Jake seemed like the only person who would listen to me at the moment.
– I was already wondering how far I would fall. How long will it be before I die? Will it be immediate or will it be endless agony? - I sniffled, fighting tears - But suddenly I heard a MC behind me. She screamed not to do it. To come home with her. What home - I thought then? Duskwood was no longer my home since I found out that the person closest to me was someone else entirely. He was a liar. Richy kidnapped and held Hannah, and a few hours later he would come to the workshop and joke with me like he always does. He did all that and then he just gone.. He killed himself and left me alone.
We were both silent for a while. I looked at his profile out of the corner of my eye. He stared at the sleepy, unlit buildings before him. I think he was very lonely. Lonelier than he lets on. Maybe lonelier than he even realizes.
– Then I felt her touch. She didn't yank me, but lightly touched my arm to make me turn around. And then I saw that she was crying too. That I wasn't the only one suffering. – my voice started to crack – It was soothing. And you know what we did then? We sat there and started drinking what was left in my vodka bottle. We drank and cried because that was all we had left. At that time, we were convinced that the people we loved the most in the world had been taken away from us. But I'll never forgive myself for what I did the next day.
I could barely speak through the spasms of tears. I was all red and trembling from them.
– The next day I packed up and left Duskwood without telling her. No apologizing. No thanking for saving a life.
I hid my face in my hands, feeling despair and shame again. Jake sighed heavily, probably hating me even more.
– I'm sure she understood.
– Of course she understood! – I burst out – I came back after half a year and when I talked to her, she didn't hate me. She said she fully understood me and that I had the right to do so. Leave, forget and come to terms with what happened. MC is the kind of person who will stay with you no matter what. She is the sun when the storm is spreading chaos all around. That's why I know I don't deserve her. Because when I left her alone, she welcomed me with open arms.
I swallowed and felt his intent gaze on me. He listened to me but did not judge.
– I've hurt a lot of people, Jake. After what Richy did, I completely changed. I pushed Dan away. MC. Everyone. I preferred to be alone so that I would never be disappointed in anyone again. To never experience the same emptiness, griefing. But it was a mistake. I was an egoist who forgot the existence of others. I forgot that Dan, Thomas and Cleo lost a friend too. I forgot Hannah was being held by a friend. And I forgot that MC lost you.
Something in his face moved. I could see how despair gripped his throat.
– So please don't make my mistake again. When you find MC, and I know you will, don't leave her. This special person who saved us all needs someone to stay with her too.

Chapter 9: Panic room

warnings: physical and psychological violence, abuse of bodily integrity
MC's POV
I woke up and was greeted by complete darkness.
My body was tense, probably from lying indefinitely on the cool cement. I shook my neck and heard the characteristic snap of bones. I felt a great thirst. Is it because of the drugs they injected me? They probably caused dehydration of the body. I strained my eyes, trying to see anything that would tell me where I was. Unfortunately, the room was unlit, and the only thing I knew was that it was cold in here and that I was lying on cement.
I stood up on shaky legs and immediately had to lean against the wall because of the dizziness and headache. I haven't been standing for the last... Exactly how long have I been in this darkness? How long has it been since that early morning when I left Jake? I cursed myself deep down for ever leaving that fucking motel. After a few minutes I regained control of my body, so I headed towards the door where I saw a small window, which unfortunately was covered with bars. A streak of light suddenly shone through that small window. So someone turned on the light in the hallway.
I stood in front of the door and pounded on it with all my strength.
– What do you want from me?! – I screamed, still pounding until my knuckles started to burn
Less than 5 minutes passed, and I heard footsteps, and the door flew open forcefully pushing me from the exit. Four men dressed in dark shades entered the room. They had hoods on their heads, so I couldn't see their faces. My heart began to beat mercilessly fast, painfully pounding against my chest.
– Sleeping Beauty has finally graced us with her presence. – one of them said, and his voice made me shiver with fear. But I wasn't about to give them the satisfaction.
– Who are you? – I asked again, trying to control my voice. – What do you want from me?
The man who had spoken earlier took a few more steps to stand in front of me. I could feel his warm breath on my cheek and his hand touching it.
– It's nothing personal, birdie. – he said, his thumb grazing my lower lip. – But your lover got under our skin. Tell me how does it feel to be his whore?
I clenched my jaw, trying not to let my anger influence my behavior. I might have done something I would regret.
– I don't know what you're talking about.
– Don't pretend to be dumber than you are. – he growled with undisguised anger – Fucking Jacob. But you probably prefer to call him Jake, don't you? What else do you call him? Jakey? Sweetie? Or maybe my lion?
You can see he was a Game of Thrones fan.
I felt him staring at me intensely, but I remained silent.
– Are you silent now? – he asked with dripping irony. – I'm sure those pretty lips can make a sound. Your dear Jake has heard them already?
– Screw you.
I felt a hard slap on my cheek, which made my face contort the other way. The force of the impact made my ears stop, but in the background I heard an unknown man shouting something to the others. Suddenly, my eyes stung terribly as the lights in the room turned on.
I had to blink a few times to get used to the brightness. I didn't even have time to register how the other two men grabbed me by the arms and pulled me towards a chair I hadn't seen before. I was kicking like an animal, scratching their hands and screaming senselessly for which I got another punch, this time in the stomach. I tried not to cry out in pain as they tied my ankles with rope to the legs of the chair.
– We'll hurt you worse if you won't shut up. – one of them said, moving away from me
I moved my bound limbs to see if it would be possible to get out of the grip of the ropes. Well, it was a miracle. I looked up, meeting the man in front of me. Now I could see his face. He was about 40 years old and had a beard on his face. His eyes were the color of spring grass.
– You want to get Jake, I already know that. But what did he do to you? – I asked, subconsciously contracting my muscles to loosen the bonds just a little
– You think you know him, but the truth is you don't know shit about him. – he answered shortly, and I saw that he was holding a gun and a hunting knife in his belt. – Didn't you know that your hero Jake has something to do with an organization that sells organs?
– You think I'll believe you? – I replied as he raised his eyebrows and smiled genuinely
– You are naive. You think a hacker with skills like him will waste his time hacking games or some shit? – he asked looking me straight in the eye. I swallowed. – Darling, Jacob helped us find people with the healthiest organs. You probably know that he's capable of finding all sorts of information about people, right? Health cards, jobs, private life. He gave it all to us on a platter so that later other people would properly take care of such a unit. He knowingly sent them to certain death.
It's all lies. Don't believe them, MC.
My heart stopped and my stomach twisted in unpleasant spasms. I was starting to feel stuffy.
– That's true, birdie. – He walked over to me and crouched down so our faces were on the same level. I dully and stubbornly looked at my lap, but his firm grip on my jaw made me look at him. His strong touch almost crushed my chin. – We don't have to cut you. You just need to tell me where he is.
– I don't know. – I answered immediately – Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you anything.
A soft laugh escaped his lips before he gripped my hair tightly and pulled my head back. I groaned in pain.
– I totally understand why he likes you so much. – he muttered, holding on tight – I'd like to tame such a wild girl too. See her begging for mercy.
He let go of my hair and took a knife from his belt. I began to breathe faster, watching as he cut my dress with a decisive and quick movement. He ripped it off my body leaving me in my underwear. I flinched and thrashed in my chair as he devoured my almost naked body with his gaze while his knife wandered over it.
– Enough.
I lifted my eyes to the door where a man a little younger than the others was standing. I realized that he was probably in charge of the entire organization. He had a distinctive mustache and piercing brown eyes. He raised his hand, and the man in front of me reluctantly moved away.
– Sorry, they still haven't learned any manners. – he said to me, and there was some crazy smile on his face – How’s it feel to be in here, princess?
I shivered as I smelled his scent. His aura reeked of blood and corpses.
– I'd prefer my bed, but it could be worse. – I replied making him chuckle
– Little miss sassy. – he muttered under his breath and walked over to me. I held my breath, expecting the worst, but with a sigh he crouched down and untied the ropes. As much as I wanted to fucking move my limp limbs, I was frozen like a stone, afraid to move. – You can call me an Artist.
I nodded my head slightly. He looked at me with some madness in his eyes. He must have been imagining me with my throat slit or my guts torn out.
– You must think we're monsters. – he said, and his tone was appallingly sad and serious. – Look at it another way. We help people in need. We save the lives of people who urgently need a transplant, and waiting in hospital queues would kill them.
– By killing others? By depriving them of choice? You are ruining the lives of their families as well.
Artist clucked impatiently.
– You're very pessimistic about it. – he admitted and his fingers began to move over my body like a brush on a canvas. – You will be my greatest art, dear MC. You don't know how long I've waited to have someone like you here.
And then he left with everything else. He slammed the door shut and I immediately ran to it and slammed it with my hand.
– Let me out! – I screamed. – I won't tell you anything, so you might as well kill me right now!
I will not give them control.
In the window I saw the man who had torn off my dress earlier.
– Don’t scream, you’re only wasting your precious energy. – he said, licking his lip disgustingly – Or scream. It's turning on and no one here will hear you anyway.
I slid down the wall, no longer holding back tears. I felt bile in my throat, because through the eyes of my imagination I saw my own death. Slow and painful. I was shaking, unable to catch my breath.
Soon after, the lights went out. They tried psychological tricks, trying to break me. They gave me apparent freedom by getting rid of the ropes, but by locking me in complete silence and darkness, they knew they had control over me.
I never thought that silence could be louder and more overwhelming than screaming.
Then I swore one thing. I won't let them break me even if it means that they will kill me.
i'm a photographer and i took this photo :)
Summer Love
Chapter 1: California
author's note: hi! it will be a short, light and pleasant story about two teenagers in love. hope you like it <3
I will never forget the moment when I first met him.
June 25, 2014
I was not well disposed to this vacation.
It was my first time to fly alone to the United States, specifically California. My mother decided that I could use two months of respite away from home. I know she also wanted to get some rest on her own. The last period was not the lightest for us.
I didn't know California very well. I had only been there once as a small child to visit my aunt. It was there that I was to spend this vacation. On the California beaches in the company of my older cousin - Jane.
But my earlier indecision and uncertainty passed as the plane with me on board soared into the clouds. With bated breath, I watched the receding land through the window and welcomed the sky. I was the type of dreamer rocking in the clouds.
My attention was caught by a couple sitting in front of me. The girl was apparently overcome by panic, causing her to cling to the man's arm. She probably had a fear of heights. The boy calmed her down, drew her to his chest and soothingly played with her hair.
Ugh, love.
It was a real nightmare. Watching all the couples in love while I never held hands with the other person. Not in a romantic way, anyway. In truth, I kept telling myself that I was only 16 and my whole life was ahead of me, but.... Almost every friend of mine was in a relationship or had already ended one. Why didn't anyone pay attention to me? Was I too ugly, insufficient, stupid? After all, guys like stupid girls. Then they can feel smarter, right?
The truth was that I wanted love. Passion. Adventure. Excitement. I wanted to lose myself in someone as much as possible, to feel the butterflies in my stomach even if it had to end in a broken heart and weeping nights. I wanted to feel loved. Wanted.
However, when I left the plane and felt the Californian wind in my hair a wide smile dawned on my face. I couldn't just think about my failures. It was vacation time, and I was going to make the most of it.
To get to my aunt's house, I had to take another hour by bus. I can't count the number of times I cursed Google Maps for almost not finding the bus stop and consequently almost missing the bus. When I ran onto the bus loaded with people I was sweaty and probably red in the face. All the seats were occupied except one, next to a black-haired boy who was leaning his head against the window. He had headphones in his ears due to which he didn't hear my question if I could sit down. I took that as a 'yes.'
He was wearing a black T-shirt and blue loose jeans. When I took a seat next to him he raised his head and looked in my direction. His eyes were like ice: cold and relentless. Despite this, I sent him a slight smile, but the expression on his face did not change one bit. He was looking into the window again, watching the sights beyond.
Asshole.
To my surprise, he got off at the same stop as me. I didn't have time to register anything when I felt strong arms pull me toward them and suffocate me with their embrace.
–MC! It's been so long since we've seen each other. – Jane said loudly, excitedly – How you have grown!
From behind my cousin's back I saw a black-haired boy walking straight ahead. Only now I could look how tall he was.
– Why are you silent? – Jane moved away from me and looked in the direction I was looking. – Ooh, I already know. My little cousin is growing up. – she said with a mean smile to which I answered her with a firm punch on the shoulder
– Yeah, I missed you too Jane.
* * *
In the evening of that day, at my aunt's request, I went to the store to buy ice cream while she and Jane were preparing dinner. The navigation, by the way, completely sucked. Or it was me with crappy field orientation.
No, it was definitely the navigation's fault.
After hitting several dead ends, I finally arrived at the store. I looked with undisguised fascination at all the sweets and snacks familiar from American movies that I had dreamed so much about as a child. The place seemed to be a paradise for preschoolers. And well, for me too.
After a good ten minutes or so, I reached the freezers, which contained dozens of different ice creams. At the moment when I wanted to open one of them someone preceded me, and I completely not hearing someone standing next to me, almost jumped up in fear. I immediately took my hand away and raised my gaze encountering the blue irises of the bus boy.
The boy raised an eyebrow, then selected a chocolate ice cream and was already about to pass me by when some kind of frenzied energy took over my body.
– You again. – I spoke up, and my tone was friendly
The boy turned around and sent me a confused gaze.
– Do I know you? – He asked sounding completely uninterested
– You're so nice. – I snorted, however, I didn't lose the slight smile from my face – I'm MC. You already know me. And hey are you angry or something for sitting down with you on the bus?
– Angry? Why? – he furrowed his eyebrows
– Your face says more than your mouth.
– This is my every-day face. – he replied and tried to walk away, but I followed him
Christ, why didn't I give that asshole a break?
– Grumpy then.
– I'm not grumpy. Not everyone can smile all the time. Except you.
– I don't smile all the time! – I stated indignantly to which he finally sent me a doubtful look
– You smiled at the jellybeans and then at the ice cream.
– So you already saw me when I entered the store? – my smile widened which only proved his thesis. He rolled his eyes, but I could have sworn that a soft blush appeared on his cheeks. – You didn't tell me what your name is.
– Mother didn't tell you that you shouldn't introduce yourself to strangers?
– Oh come on. Look at me, and look at you. – I said in a sour tone, since he was probably able to do a lot more harm to me than I to him – Okay, you figured me out. My van is behind the store where there are no cameras.
– It's obvious you're not from here. – he sighed – Behind there are cameras.
I waved my hand at that, and my attention was caught by the dessert he chose.
– So you are team chocolate? – I asked subconsciously slapping myself in the face.
If he wasn't he wouldn't have taken such ice cream, idiot.
– Where did you get such an idea, Sherlock? – he replied, and his question rubbed with irony
I smiled inwardly. The mysterious stranger, however, possessed a sense of humor.
I ignored the phrase that came to my lips that I prefer vanilla ice cream, and opposites supposedly attract. And so I made a fool of myself enough times.
– Why do you need so many energy drinks? You have leaks and a war is coming, so are you stocking up? – I asked, pointing my finger at the five drinks he had in his basket
– Sometimes they come in handy when you don't want to fall asleep, you know? – he replied, and when he saw that I had already opened my mouth to question him he added – Do you know just how annoying you are?
– Not annoying enough to have you ignore me, apparently. – I replied to which he rolled his eyes again – Okay, I know how to make you feel better. I'll tell you a joke I heard on the bus while you were listening to music.
He started to protest that he didn't need a humor upgrade at all, but the joke was really funny.
– What do you call a dog that can do magic?
– Well what? - he sighed and I clenched my lips tightly to keep from laughing
– A labra-cadabrador.
I started giggling which made an old lady passing by look at me strangely. I probably looked like a mentally ill person in front of the boy who stared at me as if I were lunatic. This joke was so stupid that it was laughable. I looked at the black-haired boy with a doubtful look to see if he really understood it.
– Not a dog fan?
– Not a bad jokes fan. – he replied and this time I rolled my eyes
– Well I have another one. What did the sushi say to the bee?
– Enlighten me. – he replied with resignation in his voice
– Wasabi? – I made a strange gesture with my hands that I saw somewhere on the Internet along with this joke
The boy looked at me for a moment, then quickly turned his head away. However, he did not manage to hide from me the small smile that appeared on his face.
– You smiled back! Don't even try to deny it. – he turned to me again, and this time a wry smile was painted on his face. I raised an eyebrow. – So you're a sushi fan?
– You got me. – He replied, then stood in the checkout line. Damn, I didn't realize we had gone through the whole store. – And you seem to have forgotten something.
I looked at him with incomprehension, and when he happily took out his chocolate ice cream from the cart I became dumbfounded. Damn, I forgot what I came here for.
– Oh right, ice cream.
I corrected the chain I was wearing and started walking away from the cash register walking backwards causing me to almost bump into an older man. I patted myself on the forehead and turned around to walk like a normal, sane person. Then I heard his voice.
– Jake. That's my name. – he said. A smile uncontrollably affected my face, and I bit my lip almost clapping and jumping up. I felt so light and happy, because already on my first day here I met someone new and... interesting? Yes, I think that's the right term.
I didn't expect that, no-longer-a-stranger-Jake would be waiting for me outside the store and would walk me all the way to the house.
And I definitely didn't expect that this was just the beginning of our summer.
Summer Love
Chapter 2: I Ain't Worried
Previous <-
I'll never forget the first time I saw Jake shirtless. Seriously.
July 7, 2014
The end of the first week of July attacked California with a huge heat wave. It was practically impossible to survive on the streets, and the only place of solace was the calm ocean water cooling down the heated body. Of course it was temporary, but always something.
Jane and I were there practically every day, but today my cousin was not at home. She went to her boyfriend's for the night, leaving me alone and withered by the cosmic temperature.
I was damned bored. Therefore, I didn't waste a minute more but headed to my aunt's neighbor's house. Namely, Jake's mom.
I bit my lip and started knocking on the door. In my spirit I prayed that his mom would not be home. Actually it didn't matter; I went out with my him every few days. Most of these meetings consisted of evening rides in his car, which he got for his 18th birthday, and our arguments or teasing.
I felt good in his company. Despite the apparent difference in our characters, we got along ... quite well. Jake was a great guy and I envied people who had him on a daily basis.
After a few minutes, the door swung open and in the threshold I saw a sleepy Jake with disheveled hair wearing a white oversize T-shirt and red and black plaid pants.
And just maybe my heart started beating a little faster at that sight.
– Christ, MC, are you haunting me even in the morning already? – he said, and his voice was hoarse. Despite his words, he opened the door wider, letting me in.
– Nice to see you too, Jake. – I replied, entering the cooler room, which immediately gave me relief – Besides, it's already after 1 pm, ignorant.
The boy closed the door and yawned completely ignoring my comments about his biological clock.
– May I know what urgent matter sent you here at such an inhuman hour?
– Do you want to go to the lake? - I asked directly, making puppy dog eyes to convince him. The boy, however, seemed unconcerned.
– With the fishes? No, thank you.
– Wait, you're scared of fish? – I asked trying not to laugh. Jake seemed too serious to be afraid of such things.
– They're just so..slimy – he confessed while shrugging in disgust which made me giggle. I guess he wasn't fully awake.
– Slimy?
– Slimy. – he replied, pulling out an energy drink from the refrigerator
– Do you even still have internal organs? – I walked over and tapped on his chest, where his heart should be. I looked at him with feigned seriousness to give him the tragic information. – It's not beating. These shits have gnawed them all out of you.
The Jake's hand tapped my forehead forcing me to move away. My face lit up again with a smile. Damn, how could it be that smiling was easier with him?
– Do you know we're going to go on that beach anyway? – I asked with confidence in my voice. Seeing his resolute expression I rolled my eyes – Oh, come on, grumpy face, it will be fun!
– Absolutely not.
* * *
– Why do you always manage to persuade me? – he groaned, combing his hair with his hand while I spread a blanket on the sand – This is why I hate summer.
– Personal charm, my dear. – I almost sang out, sitting down on the material, and Jake joined in a moment later. The sun was shining straight into my face, which already seemed sweaty enough. – Ugh, I'm so hot!
– Loving your confidence. – he muttered accusingly causing me to punch him in the arm
– Oh shut up. – I grabbed the bottom of my T-shirt to pull it over my head. Then Jake coughed violently and I looked at his embarrassed face. – What? After all, I'm not going to sit here like a nun or there will be popcorn left of me.
I took off my T-shirt leaving me in a red swimsuit top. I looked out of the corner of my eye at Jake's flushed cheeks. It must be the temperature.
I heard a loud whistling in front of me, which made me raise my eyes. A boy in his 20s or so looked at me suggestively, but immediately walked away as soon as he saw that Jake, who was accompanying me, was taking off his shirt and sending him an unpleasant look. I turned to face Jake and was nearly clobbered.
Teenage hormones were bubbling as I moved my gaze over his slightly defined arm muscles as well as his abdomen. The pendant that hung loosely from his neck perfectly matched the sculpture of his body and....
Damn it, MC stop checking him out!
I forced my gaze back to his eyes and knew that my earlier act had not taken place without his knowledge. A slight, yet cocky and confident smile stretched his lips. I bestowed a hostile look on him, raising an eyebrow.
– Why did you do this?
– I don't know what you are talking about. – he said looking away and laying down, laying his head on his backpack. Through my meaningful silence, he sighed and forced himself to answer – It looked like he was trying to flirt with you.
I smiled victoriously.
– So you're jealous?
– No.
His answer was immediate which only put me in a better mood.
– But you like me.
– I tolerate you more than most people. – Jake's typical response
Some time later we went to a nearby beach bar to buy something to drink. My attention was caught by a box filled with ice, in which two bottles of wine were placed. I looked pleadingly in Jake's direction to which he firmly shook his head.
– No, box wine does not count as keeping yourself hydrated. – he recited as if he were reading a pamphlet from a doctor. I stuck out my middle finger in his direction.
– What can I get you, Jake? – asked the bartender, who turned out to be a friend of Jake's
– Two Sex on the beach. – he replied, and the bartender smiled provocatively and winked in our direction, then started making drinks
– Oh really? – I teased him
– I will throw the drink on you. – he replied smiling artfully
Not being 21 was not a problem in this bar. Familiarity was enough.
I couldn't hold back my laughter as I looked over at Jake, who was seated under one of the umbrellas, putting on his sunglasses and slowly sipping his drink while giving a shit about the whole world around him. When he heard my laughter, he pulled off his glasses and, with one eye squinted through the sun, asked.
– What is it this time?
– The energy you have is tired dad energy.
– I don't have kids? And I don't want to? – he furrowed his eyebrows in incomprehension and his obliviousness amused me even more
– Still, you're gonna be a DILF. – I finished shamelessly, and a short laugh filled his lips
Christ, and that sound was so lovely.
With him I let go of all my brakes. I knew him for two weeks, yet they seemed like two years.
– You're too quiet, and you never want to talk about yourself, why? – I asked curiously, watching him refill his drink
– You talk plenty enough for both of us. – he replied simply to which I tilted my head to the side in disbelief
– I just... Hey! – I shouted as he took my drink and began to drink it to the end, rudely looking into my eyes
Drinking from the same straw is almost like kissing, isn't it?
– Give it back! – I tried to grab the glass, however, the boy used his advantage and pulled his hand up every time I tried to take back my property – You are unbelievable!
And so arguing we were watched by some tourists however then no one else counted but him. And I saw the same in his eyes. The whole world around us disappeared, there was only us and we didn't worry about anything.
i'm not dying at all because of imagination that jake calls me "my clever girl"
nobody but us
a/n : a very short one shot, sweet and sad I would say?
"You're in the wind, I'm in the water
Nobody's son, nobody's daughter"
Heavy breaths mingled one with the other when the couple sank onto the mattress completely without strength. They were short and uneven, dissolving into the darkness of the dingy motel room where they were now hiding.
Not a second passed, and Jake, still half unconscious and drunk from their previous pleasure, turned so that he was lying on his stomach, his head on her naked breasts. There was nothing vulgar about it anymore. They were completely naked, the rough skin of his cheek rubbing against the softness of her chest as he calmed his shaky breathing and listened to her accelerated heartbeat, which was his favorite lullaby.
Her heart squeezed violently at how he snuggled into her body. How his raven-black hair and warm breath tickled her exposed cleavage. At that moment, he did not resemble the man he had been just a few moments ago. Back then he always had to have everything under control, which he was obsessed with. He pounded into her with his whole body, his movements, kisses or strong grips were not sweet or gentle. They were lustful, wild and raw.
Now, however, he was none other than a lost boy who lacked another person. Her presence. Her touch. Tender whispers.
When it was usually he who kept her safe now she felt the roles were reversed. He was lying on top of her, so vulnerable after they had once again managed to escape the police and FBI. Now he wasn't the evil and dangerous hack that everyone had warned her about. He was not a person she had ever feared in any way. Yet when she chose him, everyone turned on her. But something about him made her feel a little more alive and a far less lost. Even though she only had him left.
Feeling that this time she must be the one to make him feel safe, she brushed her fingertips against his cheek and combed through his hair. Gently, as if he was the most precious treasure she just held in her hands.
He was.
When he felt her fingers, he flinched. He had not been touched with such gentleness since his childchood. He was no stranger to woman and had felt their hands on all parts of his body, but her touch made him feel like he belonged some place.
Just as she had written him a few months earlier even though he didn't believe it at the time - his place was by her side. For better or for worse. The MC had seen his worst side, all the atrocities he had done to save his freedom and his life, but she was still by his side nonetheless. She did not leave him. Throughout his life, he knew well the meaning of only one word - leaving. Everyone was leaving. After a while, even he did. So why not her?
He looked at her, and she looked like an angel. An angel that God had sent to save him. He didn't deserve her. He knew it so well, but her love was addictive. She returned his gaze, and his lips quivered.
– I love you. – he whispered, searching her eyes. He looked very pale, scared and even a little hopeful.
His heart melted and a flock of butterflies appeared in his stomach as he saw her eyes light up with sparks of ordinary human happiness. He knew then that God had sent her for him, so that the light of her eyes would illuminate his darkness, which sometimes seemed to overpower him.
"Love is a curse" he heard a demonic whisper in the back of his head that belonged to his past.
And now I was drowning in it.
They looked deeply into each other's eyes, tired of people, the world and all the other things that had failed them so much. They were just two demaged people, trying to heal each other with love.
He found her in every breath of air that made life possible, while she saw his reflection in every sheet of water she came across.
For apart from each other, they had no one else.
Shameless
warnings: sexual content, jealousy
a/n: it's short JakexMC fic, hope you will like it (some mirror stuff) ;)
He was aware of what kind of woman the MC was.
Namely, he was painfully aware that she acted on others like a magnet. Her unearthly beauty was complemented by her angelic character, charisma and sense of humor. She was a woman that men lusted after. She was the dream that everyone tormented by nightmares prayed for. So he couldn't help the constant inner irritation he had been feeling for the past few days during which he was with her and the group at the cabin in the woods. Everyone said that the search for Hannah would be more effective this way, and the young hack had to agree with displeasure. However, his ability to focus seemed to disappear with the MC, who seemed to have totally drive him insane.
They didn't have much time to enjoy each other's company as they tried to give their best to save his sister as soon as possible. They fell in love with each other at the worst time possible. But he couldn't help the secret glances directed in her direction. Nor could he hold back his irritation when he saw how often she joked with Dan, and her laughter echoed loudly in his ears. He couldn't contain his irritation when the MC showed up at the police station and several officers tried to flirt with her. And there was nothing he could do as he sat in the car with an earpiece in his ear, listening to their embarrassing pick-up lines and her answering.
However, his patience ran out the moment they found themselves in Aurora one evening to talk to Phil. How much he felt like breaking his nose with his fist when he saw his sassy smile and the words falling out of his mouth that were designed to seduce the MC. She, on the other hand, smiled and even tried to play his game - responding with half-words that could spark the boys' imagination. However, when MC sent him a blurry look then moved toward the bathroom, his legs steered him toward her on their own.
He followed her into the bathroom, which was meant for staff but there was no one inside so he locked the door. The brunette turned toward him and put her arms on her chest.
– Can you explain why you are looking at him as if you want his head to explode? – she asked, however, by the tone of her voice he understood that she was not angry
Although he didn't think about it, the image of his brain on the wall made him feel better.
– I already told you I don't like him.
She sent him a doubtful look.
– You are jealous.
– No. – he snapped out far too quickly than he would have liked – I'm not jealous, I'm being reasonable.
– I already told you not to worry about him. You don't trust me?
– It's not you I don't trust. – he rolled his eyes – He's almost undressing you with his eyes.
– He looks at literally every creature that has hips and tits like that! – she said louder, feeling the blood that filled her veins begin to boil – Understand that this relationship is purely friendly.
– You're naive if you think he just wants to be your friend. – he snapped out before he could bite his tongue – It seems that his flirting doesn't particularly bother you.
She clenched her jaw and sent him a degenerate look. Her pupils were enlarged and he also noticed that she was tense. She came close enough to him that there was no more than a few centimeters between them.
– And you didn't get the idea that I'm pretending to be nice and foolish just to make him trust me more? Just admit that you are jealous. And I remind you that I am not your property!
At this point he grabbed her firmly by the waist and turned her so that her back touched his chest. They were standing in front of a large mirror, hung over the sink, so they had a perfect view of both of them.
It was their first more physical contact, which caused the two of them to have quickened breaths and heartbeats and that constricting fire in their lower abdomens that they desperately wanted to extinguish.
As he gently pushed her hair aside with one hand to expose her neck, the MC arched her back, pressing her ass against his crotch, which made his blood heat up even more. He tilted his head and, still looking into the mirror searching for her eyes, placed a wet but still fine and tender kiss under her ear.
– My smart girl. – he muttered directly into her ear, and his voice was hoarse with lust
And that name made her completely wet and quietly moan.
It had been so long since they had both felt physical pleasure that they had completely forgotten how aphrodisiac it was.
Hearing her quiet, enticing moan, he couldn't control himself any longer and he wove his hand back into the back of her head firmly pulling her hair, tilting her back.
– You like it when I'm possessive, don't you? – he asked and she incapable of words, merely nodded. She gasped louder when she felt the cool fingers of his other hand on her exposed cleavage, followed by those on her hip and thigh. – Is it good when I touch you here? Or maybe here?
– Please don't stop. – she blushed with shame as in such a short time the hacker had her in a position begging him for more. She had never wanted someone more than him.
His lips once again attacked her neck with brutal and powerful kisses that drew sweet moans from her lips and quiet grunts from his throat due to his sizable erection, which she felt perfectly. She felt him sucking on her skin creating a red marking to show everyone that she was his. His hungry hands squeezed her boobs, making her nipples harden. When he reached her sensitive spot near her ear and his fingers roamed her thighs, she closed her eyes and threw her head back, resting it against his shoulder.
– Spread your legs. – he said, but it sounded more like a command, which she gladly obeyed
Then his long fingers pushed her lacy underwear aside and the hacker moaned, feeling how wet she was. She felt him begin to massage her clit in circular motions which made her see stars under her eyelids.
– Watch yourself in the mirror, MC. Watch me while I touch you.
She groaned loudly, knowing that if anyone was standing at the door despite the loud music they would know what was going on inside the restroom. She opened her eyes encountering Jake's focused gaze in the pane of the mirror. He was watching her, devouring every last inch of her skin. He studied her body, touching her in an absolutely shameless way. He inserted his middle finger into her, feeling how instantly her muscles tightened on him. How much he craved to feel it on his cock, her wetness and tightness. However, he also didn't want their first time to take place in Aurora's cramped bathroom.
Feeling her impending orgasm, he curled his finger inside her, seeking her spot, and sped up the circles on her clit.
She came with a cry, his name leaving her swollen lips. Her eyes never left the mirror, and neither did his. She felt embarrassed by how quickly he managed to bring her to orgasm.
– My clever girl. You make me so proud.
And his praise when he adjusted her underwear and dress or when he kissed her neck one more time made her beg him for more.
And no one in the group was particularly surprised when the two announced that MC was feeling unwell and Jake would drive her back to the cabin to rest and enjoy the quiet until the others return.
just mc being head over heels for jake
but can we blame her??
Lost without you
a/n: yes im on my period, and yes im crying rn. JakexMC as always
A life went on. It was not the same.
But it went on.
Who would have believed two years ago that we would be where we are at this moment? In the beautifully decorated church where, less than twenty-four months ago, the funeral of one of our friends was held.
The decorative flowers, however, did not overshadow the beauty of the gorgeous bride, who was just walking down the aisle to join her soul there with the man of her life. The organist was playing a wedding tune on the piano, which was now ringing in my ears. I watched, listened and felt their love as they looked deeply into each other's eyes, put on rings or swore fidelity to each other until the end of their days. If someone were to ask me about a couple that went through so many storms and hurricanes together that didn't wipe them off the planet but only made them stronger I wouldn't have to think long.
Hannah and Thomas.
They were perfect. They had survived a nightmare from which they were nevertheless able to wake up, and the life that lay ahead seemed like a long-desired dream.
The wedding was also wonderful. But as I stood in the middle of the crowd, boisterously chanting the names of the new newlyweds a wave of loneliness and alienation hit me like hail on the first days of spring.
Life flashed on, even though it only took one look at each of them for me to know the loss they had experienced. Dan and Cleo stood under the bar and sipped whiskey, drinking up the fact that Richy was not here with them. Jessy sat distant, and although a small smile wandered on her lips, her eyes remained blank.
Similar to mine.
Where had he gone? What had happened to him? Was he still in hiding, or was he now being brutally interrogated by the FBI? He had to be alive. I didn't believe anything else.
Why did he leave me with only the memory of oceanic eyes and the bitter aftertaste of the last three words he wrote to me? I didn't know what feelings accompanied me. Anger, grief, sadness?
All that was certain was that I damn missed him.
What if I never forget him?
What if, all my life when I meet someone new I can never fall for them because they aren't him?
And just like that I started to cry.
I thought we'd have more time. If I had known how our story would turn out I would never have allowed it to end this way. Was it even possible to call it a story? What were we?
A failed potential. A faded picture. A memory.
We were memories that blurred each new morning when I had to wake up and get on with my life.
And even though my heart screamed that this chapter was not yet over, I knew deeply the painful truth. Sensitivity and longing believed that Jake would one day return. Perhaps he will write and explain that this was the only way he could keep us safe. Perhaps he will stand on my doorstep one day and beg for forgiveness. And perhaps he will sit in the last pew at my wedding, when I will finally give my heart to someone else, and I will never know of his presence.
But one thing hasn't changed and never will. I felt a warmth in my heart that told me that the hacker who turned my whole world upside down was alive. In the same city or on the other side of the globe. It didn't matter as long as he was safe.
Despite my gaze blurred by tears, I smiled. We were under the same sky at least.
My gaze then fell on Thomas. The man I had comforted as much as I could two years ago and convinced him to fight on. That his beloved one was alive and together we would find her.
But when he regained the love of his life, I lost mine.
