the topic of sexism when dealing with the fandom’s views on freddie and chilton is something I’d like to discuss.
both characters are absolute *priiiicks* and don’t die throughout the series. someone on Pinterest said that ‘we should allow female characters to be more bitchy’ and referenced the hating of Freddie being more common than the hating of Chilton.
Freddie *never actually gets fucked over*. The only thing that comes close is when she was watching chilton get sliced open. chilton on the other hand gets his shit served to him at least once per season. and PLENTY OF IT. this makes him… more *tolerable* as a character, I think, allowing the audience to sympathise, or not, as they like, whilst simultaneously enjoying the quantifiable bitchiness of his character.
*Chilton gets his karma. Freddie does not.*
the argument that sexism exists in likeability of female characters who are more ‘bitchy’ is a strong one, just not in this context. maybe it exists more in characters like alana vs jack? but I think that can be debunked using the same logic. thanks for coming to my ted talk

once you stop taking hannibal seriously and completely forget about the whole “grisly crime procedural” thing, really, it’s just a really funny comedy. Probably the funniest.
say what you like but actually everyone only hates freddie lounds because she’s sexy and right about everything all the time. will’s a killer and insane and a total freak? spot on babygirl. murder husbands? at it again queen. you just cannot handle her level of accurate so you have to kill her. sad.
