Her Favourite
You had been friends with Yoimiya for years, the bond growing stronger through the heartbreak you both went through. Making fireworks with her was the only thing you could look forward to. A gasp left your lips as a smaller hand grabbed yours to tug you up from your seat. Yoimiya’s shy smile looked back at you when you looked up from your intertwined hands.
“Is it time already?”, you asked as always when the time for the fireworks show came around.
An excited nod greeted your question, “Of course, silly! We’ve spent forever making fireworks for this!”
“Yes, yes, I know. It just doesn’t feel like it’s been that long”
A coo left her lips with a giggle hidden behind her hand as she looked up at you, her eyes barely visible. You smiled back at Yoimiya while your feet led you both towards your favourite firework spot. You both sat on the edge of the cliff with a content sigh, Yoimiya's humming filled the silence between you while the short wait began. She turned to you with a gasp as she took her hand back from yours. You watched as she stood from her spot beside you and felt around in her pockets for something. You raised an eyebrow and stood with her, thinking she had lost something.
“Is everything alright?”
“Oh yes, everything is spectacular! Hang on!”
You watched her fumble around patiently, her golden eyes shining in the moonlight. She let out a small huff as she pulled something from her pocket.
“Turn around Y/N!”
Turning to face away from your best friend, you stood stick straight like the awkward person you are. Another cute huff sounded from behind you as Yoimiya tsked gently, pulling your hands from your sides and placing something in the middle of them both.
“Ok...open!”
Yoimiya started jumping and clapping before you even opened your eyes. You peered down at the tag in your hand, a blush filling your face as you looked back up to Yoimiya.
“When did you have time to do this?! We were so busy with preparations!”
She smiled and nodded, her braids bouncing along with it.
“Of course I did! You’re my best friend, Y/N. And even if we can only ever be friends, I love you!”
A darker blush spread across both your cheeks before an array of colours illuminated the girl stood in front of you. She gasped as she turned to watch the fireworks, pride and peace resting in golden eyes when she turned to look at you with a finger pointed out to the sky.
“Look at that one, Y/N!”
A smile made its way onto your face as you turned to watch a red and gold firework explode across the dark sky.
“Is that it?”
Yoimiya nodded and grabbed your hand, “Of course. You’re my favourite after all. You deserve the best firework I could make.”
You squeezed her hand gently as she turned to the show of fireworks once more. Gasps and points continued with the biggest and brightest fireworks. You stood there with your best friend as she bounced in her spot, tugging your hand. Constant “Yes, I saw, don’t worry!”s left your lips as Yoimiya pestered you with “Did you see that one?!”s. For the rest of the show, you stood watching the fireworks through her eyes. You were her favourite.
"Now, which side did I just hit?"
"Uh, if I had to choose... maybe this one?"
