All of this. All. Of. This.

Maybe it's just my own experience, but I feel like children take naturally to an animist world view.

I remember an incident in which I was dragged out of a restaurant crying over a green crayon which I'd bonded with, and was subsequently forced to abandon.

Then there was the first time I built a campfire. My family was camping next to an English backpacker, who they invited over for smores (he was appropriately horrified by them). I remember asking my father, A Scientist, if fire was alive, and he told me that it was just a chemical reaction. Nevertheless, I was deeply saddened by the idea of letting my fire die.

After I went to bed, the backpacker stayed by my fire and kept it alive all night so that it would be there when I woke up. I still remember this as the most insanely kind thing a stranger has ever done for me.

Okay, I've gotten a bit off topic and am now just rambling about a nice thing someone did for me, but to return to my point, I think I was already an animist as a child. That or I was just a lonely weirdo who tended to get attached to random things...

Ranchers is fun because they are NOT especially close, they clicked really quick and haven't gotten to spend much time together since, so they are always in a perpetual state of learning more about each other and reacting to it delightedly. It's why they slip into the "perpetual honeymoon couple" schtick so easily. Jimmy often turns to Tango's friend for more information while Tango seems happy to learn as it comes up. Their development is all out of order from having to rely on one another, so they fully unquestioningly trust someone they don't know all that much about in he grand scheme of things, but they know it's well placed.

love can really save people, and i’m not talking about romantic love. i’m talking about platonic, wholesome, unselfish love that demands nothing in return other than that person’s safety, happiness, and well-being. love for the sake of love. i think this kind of love is wonderful.

@sickbugdude this is a lot of fun to do! :)

If you want to do this, I would recommend using paint markers because they dry faster and are imo easier to use than brushes.

If you are going to use it as a plant pot, you might want to put a hydrophobic layer on the in- and outside of the pot because otherwise the paint will droop.

The beetles were based on pine chafers a.k.a. Polyohylla fullo, but because of the colours and the vertical stripes on the wings they don't really look like them.

Below a photograph of a pine chafer I made some time ago:)
