I started sketching some Pulp Musicals characters around midnight last night and thought to myself, "hey, these look pretty damn good!" so I kept going until 3 am. Today I brought 'em into clip studio to play with them some more, and now I have these!! plus my silly doodles and dumb commentary + jokes. <3
and some versions w/o color! the traditional + digital sketching is a neat combination, I think.

hi, my name is Jack and my special talent is sketching most of the same references but hopefully a little better/different this time! 😂 I'm working on trying to move a little further away from realism (which seems to be my default when I use references, lol) and add a more cartoony style to my repertoire, so redrawing the same refs has been pretty handy there? idk, I'm just making this up as I go. 😅

part 2 left me very 😵💫 and I still have so many thoughts and feelings I don't even know how to articulate but here are some sketches I managed to do over the course of the day! Mostly featuring Kal because I love this terrible awful man and I am still learning how I wanna draw him. we're getting there, I think. (the dark angel sketch is something I'd like to make a proper illustration someday.) this page also features A Samuel™ and the astronomer who will continue to drive me insane. <3
and I have to shout out fallinginaforrest's awesome art that opened my mind and made me think "oh yeah they're probably a bit scruffier than they were in the beginning" and thus inspired me to give both Samuel and John a little more scruff than I usually do.
alrighty, here are the close-ups! as stated previously, I am so incredibly proud of how everyone turned out. I was also 100% playing fake it till you make it with the shading and whatnot, so it is probably not very accurate at all. but it looks cool! so that's enough for me, lmao.
