Genshin Impact general headcanons

FOR MY PLATONIC SOULMATE @enslique

Characters included : Cyno, Kaeya, and itto

Pronouns : None, no gendered language

Romantic + Platonic separate

You're a human in this and not the traveler

Cyno

Genshin Impact General Headcanons

Platonic

He's such a home slice home bread

Like you'll be chilling when all of a sudden he spits the worst pun you've ever heard, it'll leave you in tears and on the floor sobbing when he tries to explain it on a quantum level.

You'll probably be a forest watcher, traveler or part of the Akademiya to see him in work mode, in which he's less funny but will probably turn to you after absolutely wholloping some guys and make a dumbass pun. Cue Tighnari's pun senses tingling and he cringes in pain and sympathy to whoever has heard it.

Cyno's extremely caring though, and although he may not show it outwardly at work it's the little things when he's in work mode that show it.

He gives you tips and explanations of things you may not understand constantly, so the next time you'll be prepared, mainly in the desert.

Brings extra water and makes sure you're hydrated, even if you're from the desert and know it well, he also makes sure to give breaks if you're beginning to slow down. Especially if you're the type of person to pretend your fine when you're not.

Will 100% bring you to meet Tighnari and Collei if you haven't already, he has high respect for them and wants a wider audience for his jokes.

He greatly respects your decisions and opinions, however, Cyno tends to state this matter of factly and won't sugar coat. If he has any issues he won't be afraid to say it outright.

Romantic

Imagine as friends but more outwardly affectionate. He's not gonna snuggle up to you and do intense pda or anything, it's more lovingly staring and smiling when it's just you two or when it's with close friends.

Makes puns about and with you, no matter how you crumble in pain when he does, you will probably burst out laughing because it's him.

He's very sweet in a relationship, and although he works a lot, he does try taking more breaks so he can make sure you're okay. However, work is important to him and he won't take long time off, you shouldn't expect him to drop everything for you as much as he'd like to.

Tends to check for injuries whenever you come home if you're an adventurer or anything like that, may accidently treat you like a colleague during this, but it shows he cares a lot.

Makes little snacks and lunches when you go away if you work, or just if you tend to forget to eat when he's away. They can be tasteless and somewhat disgusting depending on what you like, but he's so used to them on missions he tends to not realise and so relies on your opinion from previous lunches he's made.

Would love you to make lunches and snacks for him, especially since he typically has the not so nice lunches and snacks mentioned before. Even if you can't cook, a piece of goddamn lettuce would have him gently smiling on missions while munching away.

Kaeya

Genshin Impact General Headcanons

Platonic

Regardless on whether you do or don't drink or are too young, he likes bringing you to the tavern since he spends a lot of time off work there, and you'll probably become friends with Venti and Rosaria as a result since they're his drinking buddies.

If you have a sibling, I imagine Kaeya would judge them on if he likes them or not, and especially if the relationship is strained like him and Diluc. Speaking of, I think it'd be funny if he gets you in on pranks or little jokes with him.

If you're older and comfterable with it, he'll playfully and jokingly flrit with you, stopping if he reconsises that it may be going too far.

He teases you non romantically regardless, making fun of you while you roll your eyes and sigh in annoyance. Kaeya thinks it's funny to poke your face when you're busy or to gently yank on your hair if you won't pay him attention.

Nahh he 100% does that dumb thing where he's like 'we need to talk' with a serious face and somber actions then starts ranting about how Diluc removed his favourite wine.

Romantic

Teasing? Teasing.

Honestly, I imagine him to be someone that gets all flirty but the second someone returns that energy he's pausing his sentence and blushing. Kaeya will recover easily, but don't think his blush still isn't visible.

He likes playing with your hair if you have any, it's something sweet and small, a gentle activity at the end of the day for you both to destress. Will lay in bed while telling you of work and how he annoyed Diluc with paying some of Venti's tab. And he does it to get attention sometimes, whenever you're working or talking to somebody else he'll annoy you because he loves you.

I imagine he'd like you to not work, he's perfectly fine with you working though, Kaeya just really likes someone to come home to and to spend his free time with. That or you being a part of the knights. He will be a bit sad if you're too busy with work and they overlap with his free time, but he respects you and he doesn't want to push you to quit.

Disagree all you want, Kaeya likes biting, not always in the thats what she said way, just a lil nibble on the cheek or shoulder and he's happy for a minute before he wants to do it again. Never too hard and if you don't like it, he's chill. Overjoyed if you really like it and will do it back, he 100% will do it in the that's what she said way if you like that however.

Itto

Genshin Impact General Headcanons

Platonic

This fool, this blundering baffoon. If you become part of his gang, you'll either be in prison with him awkwardly waiting for Shinobu, or bailing him from prison with Shinobu like five times a every week.

Will pat you on the back with the force of a thousand sun's, you literally nearly die one time because he's unaware of his strength.

Since Itto doesn't seem like he'd warn you beforehand, imagine if you bring beans somewhere and he just starts being over dramatic. Playing up how you totally tried to kill him, after all the jokes over though he will probably beg you to get rid of them.

Forgets his strength and sometimes picks you up like a cat, may accidently trample over you if you're smaller.

BEETLE BATTLES it'd be so fucking cool, if you beat him, dude acts like his pride is SHATTERED. Although I think he might not actually care too much, especially if you're younger because he wants to hype you up.

He's a gentlemen even if he has the brain of a spoon, will help you with whatever chores you need to do or any heavy lifting tasks you can't complete.

Romantic

Now I don't mean this in the ykyk way, but he's so fucking large, like he could probably pick you up over his shoulder regardless of you weight, height or how muscley you are. Since he's a fuckin oni.

I think oni live longer than humans, in which case, SAD FUCKING TIMES. He realises this after joking you'll stay with him for hundreds of years, and you sort of blink awkwardly. Not wanting to say it before he figures it out.

He then goes on a quest to find a way for you to live longer, he even begs the shogun at some point, one of his lowest of lows in his opinion.

This guy hates leaving your side, and if he has to I imagine he'd be your personal bodyguard, regardless on how strong you are or what battles you've faced. To him you're a fragile human and he doesn't want to lose you.

This man cannot cook for his life, you have to do the food and probably work if you want stable money given he usually pranks people all day with his gang. however, he will clean and get his members to help out if it becomes too taxing.

🫐 ‘CONTENT AND WARNINGS

\\ synopsis: he had waited for this moment for so, so long.

‘+ genre: fluff

*# warnings: none!! Happy Valentines Day <3

# BE MY VALENTINE? | GN!READER

Kaeya wasn’t one to spend Valentines with someone. Usually he spent his time with a drink, or two, or more. It wasn’t uncommon to see him prancing through the streets of Mondstadt idly watching those around him.

He was always one to see, perceive. Not one to live the things he wished for. He was content with watching those around him.

So it came as a surprise to him to see your bashful face and outstretched hands with gifts pointing in his direction.

His usual smirk falters as he sees your display of affection, not in a bad way, but it was indeed something that caught him off guard. To see you present him with such gifts came as a shock.

Sure, the two of you had become close as the time had passed. But he never expected for you to initiate first move, actually, he already had something in mind.

Seems like you’ve beaten him to the punch.

“Oh? A gift, for me?” While his usual demeaner falters, he always knows how to pick himself up.

It doesn’t take him long as he leans closer to you, nimble fingers delicately picking up the card tucked neatly into the bouquet you had brought him.

The card was engraved beautifully in handwriting that looked like it could only be made by the archons and it wrote, “To my dearest, Kaeya, will you be my valentine?”

He lets out an airy laugh, suddenly he felt as bashful as you did. Thankfully, you wouldn’t be able to notice that though, he always knew how to keep his composure.

“Yes, my dear, of course I will.”

Your body language immediatly changed as soon as you got the response you were hoping for. It made Kaeya laugh, just how patient you were to wait, yet so eager to know.

He picks up everything you had brought him but not before placing a gentle kiss on your cheek, his breath fanned your ear as he stood there for a second before deciding to talk.

“Thank you.” He whisphered, oh so quiet but the genuine smile set on his face made it all even better.

As you reach the gates you notice two horses. Seems like your suspicions were right.

Kaeya’s smile is bright as he saddles up his horse and looks over at you. “Are you doing alright there, my dear?”

It wasn’t a tough battle getting the saddle on, but you weren’t exactly sure how to get onto the horse without a bit of help. You look at him with a raised brow, “How do I get on? My balance isn’t exactly the best..”

Before you knew it Kaeya’s hand were set on your waist and hoisting you up, you weren’t able to even think before you were plopped down on the saddle and a smiling Kaeya looking up at you.

“Is it comfortable? I can get you another one if needed. Make you to hold onto the reigns well, all right?”

You simply nod at his words, looking into the horizon as you ask yourself if this horse will listen to you or not. You could only hope that it would. All horses were different, you werent exactly sure what would happen.

But from what you had seem, the horse had actually seemed to like you quite a bit. So, hopefully, everything would be fine.

Kaeya hopped onto his horse quickly before motioning for the two of you to start moving.

The cool breeze eased your nerves and the way Kaeya made sure to signal to you just exactly where you had to head made things a lot easier. He gave short sounds and hand signals to indicate in what direction he would head so that you could follow.

At some point the two of you ended up side by side, both horses trotting at a slow pace. You looked at Kaeya but it seemed like he had already beat you too it as he was already staring at you.

You open your mouth to say something, anything, but no words come out. You could only look at him, mesmerized as can be as the sun sets behind him and illuminates his silhouette just perfectly.

“Whats wrong, cat got your tongue?”

“Just dont know how i got so lucky to be with a pretty boy like you.” Was your retort, and it worked, as you see his syes soften and his witty charm slowly dissapearing.

You see a small smile as he looks away from you, “Such a charmer now arent you..” he murmured.

You stifle a laugh as you see him and his horse speed up. At this point you were no longer scared that your horse wouldnt listen you. In fact, it had listened to you perfectly since the start, you two were a perfect match.

So with no fear, you signaled your horse to go faster.

The wind blew in your face as you tried to catch up to Kaeya, but it just wasn’t enough. He had the advantage of starting first, but you weren’t going to give up.

You took turns and didn’t look back, you had no clue where you were going anymore. But being with Kaeya felt so… liberating. It didn’t matter you as long as he was by your side.

It didn’t take long after for your horses to start to get restless so you both decide to take a rest. Kaeya signals for one more turn to the right and you’re met with an open field and archon statue, Windrise.

You glide off easily from your horse before walking back towards Kaeya and watch him as he feeds his horse and lets it go towards your own horse.

The two of them look at eachother before deciding to walk somewhere else. You watch them go before you’re peacefulness is interrupted by Kaeya grabbing you by the waist and pulling you down with him.

You let out a huff as you, not so gently, fall back against the grass.

“Sorry, was that too harsh?” He winces as you set your glare on him.

He thinks for a second, fingers tapping his chin as he thinks.

“Ah! I know how to make it up to you.” He says before leaning closer to you and placing his hand lightly on your cheek.

He stares for a second before his thumb is pressed to your bottom lip, “may I?” he questions.

“Mhm.” Was the only response you gave him as you lean in towards him.

His hand falls downwards towards the nape of your neck as he kisses you, you feel the slight pressure as he presses his body up against you.

Your hand falls onto his waist as the two of you slot together like puzzle pieces. The other hand bracing yourself so you make sure you dont fall backwards. Which ends up failing as Kaeya presses his weight into you.

He couldnt help himself, he had been waiting for this moment for forever.

He had loved you for so long, he couldn’t be happier to finally have you all to himself. Everything felt whole, complete.

Having you there with him was the best thing that could happen to him.

for kaeya, Christmas is a really special occasion, mainly cause during Christmas diluc is actually nice to him and invites him over to the dawn winery for Christmas dinner

and that hasn’t changed just cause he’s dating you, diluc doesn’t mind inviting you too, as long as you guys don’t act too lovey dovey around him

when at the dawn winery, adelinde cooks so much food, and all of it is the best thing that has ever existed

when you and kaeya were about to leave, the sneaky bastard held up a mistletoe over your heads

he gives you a shit eating smirk before placing his lips over yours, giving you a chaste yet sweet kiss

when you guys separated, you were shocked that he didn’t go all out

“I’m not going all out since diluc’s here, and I can just about wait till we get back home for some more fun~” he cood, lightly tapping you on the butt as you hid your face into his chest so he couldn’t see your flustered expression

safe to say the morning after, you couldn’t walk at all :)

Mistletoe
Mistletoe
Mistletoe

he doesn’t mind Christmas, the only problem is he’s busier than ever since there’s quite a lot of work to do before he spends the holiday with you

he doesn’t like it, but it’s what needs to be done

one day when he came back home and was greeted by your embrace, he looked up since he noticed something green on the entrance of the house, only to roll his eyes in realisation

“did you put that there?” he queried, with a small grin on his face, he was shocked but not surprised since you tend to do this every. single. year, it’s like a tradition of yours at this point

“maybe, who knows? it could’ve been adelinde” you simply shrugged, placing your hands around dilucs neck and lightly swaying

sighing in response, he leant in for the kiss, only to be responded by your lips unexpectedly crashing against his, biting his lip, making him flinch so that you could explore his mouth with your tongue

he let out a muffled groan in response, large calloused hands wrapping around your waist

you jumped up into his embrace, wrapping your legs tightly against his slutty slim waist, diluc helping by holding onto your butt

next morning the bed was ‘surprisingly’ broken, a disappointed adelinde with her arms crossed against her chest, you and diluc covered in scratch and bite marks

Mistletoe
Mistletoe
Mistletoe

if possible, every year he heads back to snezhnaya to visit his family and spend the holidays there

this year he had time off luckily, and so he also brought you

this is the first time you’ve seen his family, yes you’ve heard of them all from ajax, especially of teucer, but you’re still very nervous about meeting them, especially his mother

when you arrived at the door, you were sweating buckets, ajax simply held your gloves hand into his larger hand that was bare since he’s so used to this weather

first thing that happens is teucer screams that you two have to kiss since you’re both standing underneath the mistletoe

ajax obviously acts first, giving you a small kiss on the lips before rushing towards teucer and spinning him around before embracing him into a tight bear hug

yes, he brought so many presents for everyone, he even brought some that are for you (the rest are back in liyue, where you originally reside)

his mother was so nice to you, giving you a nice big hug as soon as she saw you, and calling you beautiful/handsome etc.

she’s surprisingly tall, obviously ginger, and has quite a curvy chubby body, she’s berry huggable and so sweet

despite her adorable appearance, her face seems quite intimidating at first glance, but she’s the sweetest lady you have ever met

you, ajax, and the rest of the family had such fun at the dinner table and playing all sorts of games before you had to go to sleep due to the fact that you were both heading back the day after

Pov: You are hiding under their desk

Author’s note: Dear Archons, please give me Diluc. Thank you.

Summary: You are a young child taken in by one of the characters. This is their reaction if you hid under their desk. The reader is gender neutral.

Warnings: None (Besides corny nicknames)

﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌﹌ ﹌ ﹌

Pov: You Are Hiding Under Their Desk

Diluc:

• It was later in the evening before Diluc finally made it back to the Dawn Winery. He trudged through his office, his limbs heavy with exhaustion. The sight of the documents stacked neatly upon his desk made the pulse in his temple intensify. Nevertheless, he pulls the cushioned chair out and sits down in a hunched fashion. He plucks the quill from its stupor, before gazing along the first set of words before him. A few minutes pass with him scribbling away, the relaxing sound of the fireplace crackling away easing his tense stature. His pen then freezes as the side of his pant’s leg is pulled. His ruby eyes narrow and he leans back, just to catch sight of two (E/C) ones looking up at him from underneath the desk.

• “You’re supposed to be asleep,” He sternly remarks, “How did you get in here?”

• The young child frowns and tucks themselves further away from Diluc’s legs. “I’m sorry, Master Diluc. I was worried something happened and couldn’t sleep…” They answer in a shy voice, “I wanted to make sure you were okay, so I waited for you to come back from town.”

• Diluc huffs in response to their explanation, but his hard stare softens as the child yawns. “You should get to bed. You have schooling to do tomorrow.”

• “Oh, but… can’t I stay up with you a little longer? Please?”

• A sigh escapes the Ragnvindr before he picks the child off the ground and sets them on his lap. “Only for a little while,” He replies. He does nothing to stop them from closing their eyes though, and a ghost of a smile settles on his face as they rest their head against his shoulder.

﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌﹌ ﹌ ﹌

Pov: You Are Hiding Under Their Desk

Kaeya:

• If the Calvary Captain is not seen loitering about the streets of Mondstat or having a few drinks at the tavern, he was most likely in his office. A miserable groan is let out as the cryo user thinks about it so as he flips through the new guidebook made by Grand Master Jean. It was an awfully boring day for Kaeya, and though the sun lit the room in a beautiful golden color, he silently wished for it to go down faster. He’s been in here for way too long, he thinks; he’s wasting precious time away by skimming through rules that don’t even apply to him. He shuts the book with a loud THUNK before staring up at the ceiling. Lost in his own thoughts, he was quite surprised when a blunt force grabs a hold of his leg. A chuckle heaves out of him as he grabs the source from underneath his desk. His gloved hands dance across their torso and giggles erupts suddenly.

• “Stop! Stop!” The child begs as they cradle themselves in his lap. He gives into their commands, his fingers nestling in their (H/C) hair.

• “How long were you down there, little ankle bitter?” He asks with a smirk upon his face.

• “Captain Kaeya! You always say to take advantage of your opponent’s position. So, I waited for you to relax before going in for the kill! I waited patiently, then BAM! I got ya, didn’t I? Aren’t you proud of me?”

• “I am very proud of you, (Y/N), but next time, maybe don’t try to bite my foot off, hm?”

• “You got it, Captain Kaeya!”

﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌ ﹌﹌ ﹌ ﹌

Pov: You Are Hiding Under Their Desk

Childe:

• The 11th Harbinger had to stop himself from grabbing on to his assistance's neck as she follows him down the hallway to his office. Childe could feel his frustration bubbling in his gut, and it took every ounce of his being not to snap at the poor woman. “I’m well aware of the position we are currently in with this withdrawal. I will come up with a solution as soon as I can.”

• “Sir, the deadline is coming up fairly quickly. Don’t you think we should take that into accountability?” She politely responds.

• Childe’s hold on the doorknob tightens greatly and the buzz of bloodshed soaks into every nerve. As his gaze looks upon the Fatui agent, her whole-body cradles into itself. “I will get to it when I’m ready,” He announces coolly before slamming the door.

• He collapses into his chair, his fingers pulling harshly at his hair. He lets out a sigh as he thinks through the options available as of now.

• “Aj…” A whisper calls for him under the desk, “Are you okay?”

• “Angel cakes,” the man answers with slight shock, “What are you doing down there?”

• “I heard yelling and got scared…”

• “Oh, I’m sorry. There is nothing to fear though. Why don’t you come out?”

• “There are no bad guys, right?”

• “Right.”

• Childe coaxes them out from hiding and settles them into his lap. The feeling of anger that was present before slowly but surely disappears as he hugs the little human. “Don’t you worry, (Y/N). No bad guys will ever get to you while I’m here. That’s a promise.”

Someone doesn’t get along with the cavalry captain...

Someone Doesnt Get Along With The Cavalry Captain...

Author’s Note: This is a Kaeya blurb. No real story, just something I challenged myself to do. Inspired by the enemies to lover’s troupe; enjoy.

Warning: Sexual flirtation?? Also, there is one curse word.

╍ ╍ ╍ ╍

“Well, well, well. Looks like we have a slacker on our hands,” The playful voice of the cavalry captain chuckles from behind you. You face away from your lunch, a deadpanned expression on your face.

“I hope you’re not speaking to me,” You hiss as you stab at the salad on your plate, “Cause if you were, we’d have a problem. Don’t cause a scene, Captain Kaeya. It wouldn’t look good for you.”

You could almost feel his roguish gaze on your back and a shiver goes down your spine. If Amber were here, it would be much easier not to fall into his tricks, however; she had to do a perimeter check. As the chair beside you slides away from the table, Kaeya sits himself down. He leans against his palm lazily as he watches the fork in your hand skewer at the lettuce leaves. His fingers slowly pluck the instrument from your grasp, and he takes a bite.

“You know, salads aren’t really my thing. Too bland for my taste…” Kaeya speaks with a sigh, placing the silverware on the side of the bowl. “And here I thought you had a thing for meat.”

“…And what’s so wrong with a simple salad?”

Kaeya hums for a moment, tapping away at his chin. “I took you for a main course type of gal is all. It would be a shame if you wasted that pretty mouth on just a couple of greens.”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“Come with me to Angel’s Share tonight. You’ll see what I mean then.”

“Like I’d ever-” Before you could say anything else, Kaeya’s thumb gestures along the bottom of your lip, and a soft smile takes place on his face.

“You had some sauce hanging there,” He replies nonchalantly as he gets up. “I’ll leave you to your lunch then. I’ll see you, say, by six?”

“This doesn’t mean anything, you know? You’re still an annoying piece of shit.”

“I never said it would,” The man calls from his shoulder as he walks away, “But it’s not like you are completely against it. Am I right about that, (Y/n)?”

Title: In The Palm of Your Hand

Synopsis: Kaeya tells you one of his deepest secrets that he’s kept hidden for a some time, and he watches you walk out of his life. All before burning Mondstadt to the ground.

Disclaimer(s): I wrote the traveler as a self insert so you as the reader can simply imagine yourself as the traveler in this story. There are references like “Honorary Knight” and “Traveler” but there are rare references regarding the appearance of y/n, and hopefully this allows you to be more immersed into the story! I also tried my best to use they/them pronouns to keep it as gender neutral as possible.

Warnings: angst and hurt. Somewhat tipsy Kaeya. Betrayal from the Calvary captain. All that jazz.

~

“The moon is beautiful, isn’t it?”

“Huh?” You turned to face the Cavalry captain who stood beside you, his head tipped upwards, his gaze fixed at the glowing planet in the night sky. “The moon?”

“Yes, it’s beauty never fails to captivate me whenever nighttime falls upon the city. The planet is very mysterious.”

“How so…?” You asked, although you weren’t quite interested in what he had to say about the glowing planet. You just wanted to hear him talk.

Kaeya turned his head to glance at you, gazing over the clueless expression you wore with a blank stare. Soon, the corner of his lip curved upward. “I’m sure the planet has its own secrets. Sure, humans may have discovered the planet, but what really lies within those rocks and craters?” He shrugged his shoulders. “It may be hiding something. It’s not that different to how humans function.”

“How could a planet be related to humans?”

He laughed. “Everyone has their own secrets, Traveler. The moon is no different.” He began to walk towards the front doors of Mondstadt, swinging his sword from side to side before throwing it against his back. You watched the bright sword disappear into dust, your eyes soon latching themselves onto the back of his head. “It may be hiding treasure for all we know.”

“You and your unhealthy treasure obsession…” you rolled your eyes with a small smile while following him through the large gates of Mondstadt. Huffman and Lawrence saluted to their captain and greeted you with, “Welcome back, Honorary Knight.”

You just finished your commissions for the day, and although it would’ve taken you a shorter amount of time to complete it, they took much longer today; the reason being that Kaeya suddenly wanted to tag along with you and “assist” you during your commissions. You found it suspicious, knowing very well that Kaeya usually doesn’t go out of Mondstadt that often (since Jean is always bugging him to stop running off during duty), but you decided to accept his so-called-assistance for the day.

Little did you know that you’d be doing the exact opposite of what you were supposed to be doing.

Kaeya was a distraction. Or, to put more precisely, he wanted to distract you. During your commissions, the eyepatched man followed you around like a lost puppy and did whatever he could to drag your commissions out for longer than they should’ve been: he annoyed some pyro slimes which resulted in you two having to fight them off, he forced you to let him lead you to your next commission site but ended up “getting lost” in Wolvendom, and he accidentally walked right into a hillichurl campsite.

Your commissioners were a bit upset with how unusually slow you were today, but when they saw Kaeya accompanying you, they were immediately swooned by his twinkling eye and honey-like words that they had forgotten why they were upset with you in the first place. His power to switch up a person’s mood was a bit scary, in your opinion. Regardless, you were glad to finally get some rest after your long day.

Or so you thought.

“Traveler, I hope you’re not planning on heading in already.” Kaeya’s laugh rang through the mellow city roads. You felt his hand push your lower back. “Come have a drink with me at Angel’s Share. This day is worth celebrating, no?”

“What’s there to celebrate? Almost getting burnt by those Abyss Mages?” You sighed when Kaeya made you turn towards the road on the right, heading straight towards Angel’s Share. “I’m tired, Kaeya. I want to get some rest.”

“Come on, you can’t be tired already! The night has just begun, dear.”

“But Kaeya—“

“Please,” his breath fanned your face as he gazed down at you, his diamond-like pupil glowing under the moonlight. “Just one drink, have one drink with me… and then I’ll let you go.”

Well, how could you deny him when he was looking at you with such a desperate expression? As exhausted as you were, the Captain was pulling out each of your heartstrings, one by one. “Fine,” you sighed. “But you owe me three Fruity Skewers.”

He smiled, “Looks like you know how to bargain, Honorary Knight.”

~

After five drinks, you were watching Kaeya draw circles upon the palm of your right hand. You had a cup of your usual apple juice while Kaeya drank his favorite wine, indulging one glass after another. Five glasses in, Kaeya’s face was slightly flushed but he still seemed to be in his right mind… somewhat. “Kaeya,” you watched as he drew a star on your palm with his finger. “I should really go home now.”

“Mm,” he hummed as a response but you knew he wasn’t actually listening to you.

“I need you to let go of my hand.”

And again, he continued to draw little shapes that tickled your palm. He had been doing this activity for the past ten minutes and you were starting to wonder if he was sober or if he was drunk. You’ve hung out with Kaeya while he drank wine before but you’ve never seen him other than when he’s on the verge of being tipsy, so you weren’t quite sure where he sat on his drunk scale. Suddenly, he says, “I have to tell you something.”

You peered at his blank expression, seeing how his exposed eye gazed at his finger dancing upon the surface of your palm. “Tell me.”

“But I’m too scared to tell you.” His finger left your palm and his two large hands held yours, engulfing it into his palms. “It’s pathetic of me, the Cavalry Captain, to be scared of something so trivial as this…” he chuckled, letting out a heartfelt laugh. “If I told you now, I’d probably forget about it in the morning… but I know I won’t be able to forget this feeling, no matter how much I drink.”

You weren’t sure what he meant by that but you nodded your head anyway. Although he was spitting out nonsense, you said, “You can tell me whenever you’re ready.”

He chuckled, flipping your hand over so that your palm now faced the ground. “I’m… not sure how to say it.” His thumbs caress your knuckles before turning your palm to face upwards again. “Being with you is so… intoxicating. I want to choose my words carefully.”

“Are you sure that it’s not the wine?”

Kaeya let out a breathy laugh, his shoulders shaking up and down. “Who knows? The wine is definitely doing its job, but it cannot compare to how you make me feel.”

You rolled your eyes at his flirtatious remark, chuckling. Kaeya was known for his flirty comments so you weren’t quite bothered by them as much as you used to be. It was somewhat refreshing whenever he’d talk to you in such a way. As much as you hated to admit it, you knew you liked it when he spoke to you that way. It gave you butterflies, it made your heart skip a beat… on the inside, you were a complete mess when it came to him.

He was the intoxicating one to you.

“Traveler, there you are!” You turned your head and saw Huffman making his way to you and Kaeya. “I was looking all over for you.”

“Oh? And what do you need my dear Honorary Knight for?” Kaeya slightly slurred as he continued to play with your fingers. You watched Huffman’s eyes widen as he saluted his captain, not expecting to meet him this late into the night. “You’ve interrupted our drinking session.”

“M-My apologies, Captain…” Huffman nervously glanced to the side before taking out an enveloped letter from his pocket and handing it to you. “This is for you. A messenger bird from Liyue dropped it off and the envelope said to give it to you immediately.”

“Liyue?” With your free hand, you grabbed the letter from Huffman.

Please give this to (Y/N) as soon as it arrives in Mondstadt.

You wiggled your other hand out from Kaeya’s grasp to open up the envelope and take out the letter. Scanning over the words, you read that Xingqiu needed some assistance with gathering information from the Teyvat travel guide for his new book. He wanted you to travel to Liyue as soon as possible. “Hm?” Kaeya propped his chin on his hand and peered over your shoulder to look over the invitation. “The Teyvat Travel Guide? Who would need such a useless thing?” His eye scanned over the name of the person who sent you the invitation, “Who is this… Xingqiu person? A friend of yours?”

“Yes, one of the few that I’ve made during my time there,” you slid the invitation back into the envelope. “I’ll have to leave tomorrow.”

“Do you want company on your way there?”

“You know that you can’t come with me, Kaeya.”

The blue haired man shrugged his shoulders and blew some hair away from his face. He took this as a signal that you’d have to leave him now, which caused him to pout. He huffed, slightly annoyed at how fast you declined him, but smiled nevertheless. “It was worth a shot,” he nodded. “Well, I should let you go now. I’ll come meet you before you leave. Shall we meet in front of Angel’s Share for a toast on behalf of your journey?”

“Why drink wine when you said being with me is just as intoxicating?” You stepped out from your seat and held in your laugh at how baffled Kaeya’s expressed appeared due to your response. “I’ll see you tomorrow. We can meet at the front gates.” You turned around to thank Huffman, who stood there awkwardly the whole time, and saluted you before leaving back to his post. Turning to Kaeya, you pointed your finger at him. “Don’t stay out too late, alright? I don’t want to see you hungover tomorrow morning.”

“I can’t make any promises,” he shifted in his seat. “But I’ll be sure to sober up soon.”

“You better.” You gathered your belongings and headed towards the door but turned to look at the Knight once more, seeing him staring at you with his head tilted to the side. He raised his eyebrow, wanting to know what you stopped for. The simple action was enough to make you want to stay with him even longer, but you knew you couldn’t. “Goodnight, Kaeya.”

The man smiled, his expression softening. “Goodnight, (y/n). Sweet dreams.”

And with a wave, you left Angel’s Share to head back to your home.

~

The word that you were going back to Liyue went around Mondstadt pretty quickly. While you were only expecting Kaeya to be waiting at the front gate, you saw multiple other figures standing around him. From far away, you could already distinguish who those figures were: Barbara, Amber, and the little one being Klee, who was the first to spot you walking towards them. “(Y/N)! Over here!” She yelled, jumping up and down with dodoco at her side.

When you finally stood in front of them, Klee was quick to grab your hand and tug on it. “(Y/N), are you really leaving Mondstadt again? Can Klee come with you? Pretty please?”

“I’m sorry, Klee. Maybe next time, okay?” You pat the hat that rested on top of her head. “I’ll make sure to bring you back a souvenir.” She pouted but nodded her head, liking the sound of getting a present for when you get back.

“Do you promise?” She looked up at you with big, hopeful eyes.

“I promise.”

“Yay!” She cheered and jumped around, celebrating in her spot. “We heard that you were leaving back to Liyue so we came to send you off,” Barbara said as she gestured to her and Amber. “The Acting GrandMaster would’ve came along but she’s head deep in all of her paper work again, so Klee came on her behalf.”

“Yep! She said to stay safe and have lots of fun in Liyue!” Klee swayed side to side with her little dodoco plushie in her hands. “Thank you,” you smiled at them all. “Please tell Jean that I give her my thanks. I’ll be sure to get you all souvenirs as well.”

“Awh, there’s no need to do that! You’re probably going to have to give everyone in Mondstadt a souvenir at this point.” Amber shakes her head while resting her hands on her hips, her long brown hair swaying.

“Now, now, don’t be a party pooper, Amber. I want a souvenir as well.” Kaeya stepped up and crossed his arms over his chest. By the looks of it, he didn’t seem hungover. But then again, Kaeya was extremely good at concealing his weaknesses. “You will get me one, won’t you (y/n)?”

“I’ll try to find something for everyone,” you decided while adjusting your backpack. “Thank you all for seeing me off. I’ll be back in a few days after I help Xingqiu with his book.”

“Have fun, Honorary Knight! And bring back lots of goodies!” Klee waved and gave you a big hug before leaving with Barbara and Amber to go back to the Knight headquarters. However, Kaeya remained beside you at the gate. You looked up at him and he looked down at you, his smirk only growing. “Are you hung over right now?”

“You have a sharp eye, don’t you?” He massaged his temple with one hand. “I drank a few more glasses after you left last night. It was quite the celebration, even though I was lonesome at the bar.”

“Will you be alright?” You asked, which seemed to have caught him off guard.

He stared at you, wide eyed, and soon began to laugh while holding a hand over his stomach. His whole body shook and you were confused as to what he thought was so funny. “Ah, pardon me for my abrupt laughter, but shouldn’t it be me that asks you such a question?” Kaeya let out a deep breath while wiping away a single tear from the corner of his eye. “I’ll be just as I always am, my dear. Is it because of my hangover that you worry for me? Or is it because you simply despise the thought of being away from me?”

Both, you thought. “You need to take better care of yourself, Kaeya. You’re young but you drink as if you’re in your 50’s with no life to live. Please drink carefully and cautiously.”

“Oh, I’m hurt that you view me in such a distasteful way. I like to drink wine, mainly because I like the taste, but also because I like how it makes me feel.” He took a step closer to you, his right hand reaching over to graze his fingers over your hairpin. “Without you, I’ll only have wine to rely on.” He stares into your eyes, so intense that you swore you could see his diamond-like pupil twinkle like a star. “Besides, I like to live my life to the fullest. Everyday is like a treasure hunt.”

“Just promise me that you won’t do anything stupid.”

Kaeya laughs and rests his hand upon your shoulder, rubbing it gently. “I’m not one to make promises, my dear. But for you…” he poked your forehead with his finger. “I’ll try my best.”

You weren’t sure if you should keep his word on that but you chose to believe him anyway. You knew that he would be okay, he was one of the captains of the Knights of Favious after all, but you couldn’t help but want to stay with him. You didn’t want to leave him alone. “Well, I shouldn’t keep you any longer. Your friends from Liyue must be waiting upon your arrival,” Kaeya gestured his hand towards the front gates of the city, his smile unwavering. “Stay safe.”

“You too.” Giving him a small smile, you finally made your way towards the front gates to depart for Liyue.

“Wait.”

You turned around to face Kaeya, who’s smile was now turned upside down into a frown. “What is it?” You asked him.

Slowly walking towards you, Kaeya grabbed your right hand and faced your palm upwards. His finger made contact with the middle of your palm and began to draw what seemed like letters. His hands were quick and fast, making it hard for you to decipher what he wrote on your palm. “There,” he finally smiled. He let go of your hand but you still felt the ticklish feeling of his finger grazing your skin. “Now, hurry up and get going. You don’t want to show up late, do you?”

As if you weren’t the one who just stopped me, you thought. “I’m going, for real now, so don’t stop me.” You gave him a threatening stare. “I’ll see you when I get back.”

Kaeya’ s lips parted slightly but closed soon after. He took in a deep breath and nodded his head. You smiled before waving goodbye and walking out of the gates of Mondstadt. You didn’t look back at him but you could tell that Kaeya was still staring at you as you walked off; you knew that if you looked back at him, you wouldn’t want to leave. However, when you looked down at your right palm, you found yourself trying to remember each letter he wrote. You mentally smacked yourself for not paying close attention but assumed that it was probably one of his pranks again… but that didn’t stop you from trying your hardest to decipher his message.

Meanwhile, Kaeya stared at you as walked out of the city that would soon fall. His conscience felt guilty for deceiving you but it was for the best. He had to do what he needed to do; he needed to do his job. Before the chaos would unfold, the ivory haired man swore to himself that he would tell you what was weighing down on his heart. He planned to tell you last night but the coward deep in his heart forced it down his throat to silence him. Today would be his very last chance— his last chance to tell you he loved you.

He cowardly silenced himself again as he watched you walk through the gates but smiled at the tingling feeling in his finger. He could still remember how soft your hand felt and how his heart pounded ever so loudly within his chest as he wrote his message out on your palm.

I love you.

Kaeya displayed his heart in the palm of your hand while his misery was planted deep into the palm of his hand, the seed planting itself there before he was even born. He took a deep breath and closed his eye, imagining the sight of you laughing and being happy in Liyue with your other companions. He imagined a scenario where you were living your life to the fullest, even if he wasn’t there with you. The image made him happy, he could even express the feeling as euphoria, and that very feeling was what kept him from feeling guilty for deceiving your pure spirit. Now, with you gone, he could finally do what he was fated to do right when he was put into this very city.

“Did (y/n) just leave?”

Kaeya opened his eye and turned around to see his most favorite alchemist, Albedo, making his way towards him. Kaeya turned to face the ash blonde haired man, crossing his arms over his chest. “Yes,” he answered. “Things are going according to plan. I assume it was you who fabricated the letter from your companion in Liyue?”

“Indeed.” Albedo answered. After a moment, he asks, “Are you sure you want things to end this way?” Kaeya raised his eyebrow, not knowing what he meant by that question when the answer was inevitable. “(Y/n) will eventually find out once they get back. Are you alright with having that guilt upon your shoulders?”

Kaeya stared at his friend and laughed. His body shook uncontrollably and he threw his head back, his laugh turning manic. “Oh, Albedo…” he inhaled and exhaled a deep but cold breath. “I’ve dealt with this guilt ever since I was a young one. This time is no different. As long as they are safe and happy,” he turned around. “Then I have nothing else to wish for.” He began making his way out of the gates of Mondstadt, hearing how Albedo followed beside him. “Now, let's get moving. We’re not frozen in place, after all.”

After that, Kaeya and Albedo never returned to the city they once called “home”. They left without a single trace, disappearing within thin air, and burnt the city down with them. With Mondstadt’s fall, Kaeya’s only wish was that you’d be safe and live a life without knowing his existence as a traitor. He would be the bad guy to everyone else, but to you, he wanted to be your Knight in shining armor. As long as you were in Liyue, he wouldn’t have to deal with the shock and despair on your face when you see Mondstadt crumbled into ashes and gravel.

As long as he knew you were alive, it didn’t matter to Kaeya if he had to be the villain. You were the hero of Mondstadt, the hero of Liyue, and the hero who saved him from utter chaos and destruction within his stone cold heart. He was never one to believe in the power of the Archon Gods, but just this once, Kaeya hoped that Barbatos would protect you for the rest of your life.

Even if he had to die, knowing that he placed his heart into the palm of your hands was enough to leave this world. He loved you, so dangerously to the point where he would risk destroying the whole world if it meant for your safety. After all, Kaeya was a villain. If he had to destroy Mondstadt for you, he would. And he will.
