The Takahashis and Food

Well aware of the “Kenshi can’t cook for shit” jokes in the fandom. Hell yeah they’re funny. Hear me out for a moment though.

Due to his nomadic lifestyle and his current focus on defending Earthrealm, cooking is something done almost entirely out of necessity. After reuniting with his son, training is the main method of bonding. Until Takeda mentions his craving for desserts. And the swordsman remembers his childhood comfort foods.

They spend the day making Anko-red bean paste-from scratch, and using it in Anpan. Takeda already learned how to make it from Hanzo, but he’s still curious about his father’s take on the recipe. Kenshi is more than happy to have his son be his eyes, and his occasional helping hands. It leads to him bringing tea and homemade snacks to Takeda and vice versa.

To this day, neither of them can agree if Tsubu-an or Koshi-an is better.

Warmth - A Snippet

In a cottage, Takeda and Kenshi recuperate from yet another training session. Meanwhile the former comes across some familiar items. Perfect to aid with the freezing temperatures.

The swordsman sat up in bed. Listening to his son rummage through his bag.

“You ever use an electric blanket?” Takeda asked.

“No. I don't think so,” Kenshi stifled a yawn as he stretched his taut muscles.

Takeda hastily unfolded one of the blankets.“Cassie had extras and insisted. She wouldn't take no for an answer.” He walked to the outlet near Kenshi’s bed and plugged in the blanket’s cord. “Are you cold?” He thumbed through the controller’s settings.

“I’ll, be alright.” Kenshi’s lower body was suddenly enveloped in fluffy fabric. “You don’t need to-”

“It’s okay, really.” Once he covered Kenshi’s legs, Takeda sat at his bedside. “So,” he was tentative with his words. “I'll make us some tea. Would you like that?”

Candlelight illuminated the swordsman's clouded, milky white gaze. He held his tongue momentarily. “Yes, I would. And Takeda,” he reached out and felt for his son’s shoulder. Steadying himself when he found it. “Thank you.”

Takeda checked him a few minutes later, only to find he dozed off. His chest rose and fell, in slow, even breaths. The ninja padded over to the bed. He turned off and unplugged the blanket. The pillows under Kenshi’s head and neck were adjusted; the movement did nothing to disturb his slumber. As he tucked him in, Takeda gently squeezed his father’s hand.

“Good night Dad.” He extinguished the candles.

Kenshi awoke to rustling coming from outside the room. Easing himself out of bed, he called Sento to him. He sauntered to the kitchen. Greeted by the sound of Takeda, pouring tea for the both of them.

The Kombat Kids after another failed exercise against the Lin Kuei, after which they hang out in one of the lounge rooms of the temple to rest and complain, not realizing Bi-Han was also in the room:

Cassie: Every time! No matter how hard we fight or train or anything Kuai Liang keeps beating us. It doesn’t matter how in sync we think we are, nothing works.

Bi-Han: Teamwork isn’t the issue here. It’s your own heads getting in the way of you succeeding.

Cassie: Jesus Fu-! God damn shadows!

Jin: Oh, and I suppose you know what our mental baggage is?

Bi-Han: Please, with how often you kids come in here bitching and moaning all the time, I know everything there is to know about you brats.

Bi-Han, pointing at Jacqui: For example, Briggs throws herself into her work, striving for perfection she’ll never achieve and approval she’ll never receive, at least not outwardly.

Jacqui shrinks into the couch.

Bi-Han points to Takeda: Chujin Takahashi is a bleeding heart who wants to solve everybody else’s problems except his own. The list of which is about a mile long.

Takeda: What? No. That’s not… no. I’m fine! I’m… fine…

Bi-Han: You, Shaolin, judge everyone and everything because you hate yourself and finding fault in everything around you is the only way to make yourself feel better.

Jin, flipping him off: Fuck you.

Bi-Han, turning to Cassie: Little Miss Golden Child here puts on an air of confidence and arrogance but pull back the sheet and it’s all anxiety and imposter syndrome. She has to constantly remind everyone of her achievements in a desperate bid to try and convince herself she’s good enough to be in the position she has.

Cassie: That’s not-!

Bi-Han: And Frost, tch, you don’t even what to know what her deal is.

Frost just glares.

Bi-Han: Point is, you kids only pretend to think you’re tough shit. Until you actually start believing it, all you’re going to do is keep failing over and over again. Get out of your own heads.

Kombat kids first mission

Kombat kids, in outworld: *surrounded by outworld minions*

Jacqui: we're f*cked

Cassie: there's too many!

Kano: *comes in and knocks the outworld minions out*

Kung jin: you are awesome!

Jacqui: and quite the charmer.

Takeda: *jealous*

Kano: kano's the name charming's my game. I can take you somewhere safe.

Cassie: I don't know if we should trust him. I've heard that name somewhere before.

Kung jin: we need some friend from around here and he helped us out back there.

Kano: actually, Hawkeye is right. And if I do say so myself...

Kano: 🎶outworld is not a nice place for earthrealmers all alone. All around, there are lots twists and corners that could lead to the unknown. Let me guide your way and I'll be sure to help you through. You could use a friend out here and lucky for you.🎶

Kano: 🎶I'm the friend that you need. When you're lost and don't know what to do. I'm your pal, your amigo. Useful and resourceful, too. And my help, you'll concede, is a plus, guaranteed. You can call and I'll come running just follow my lead. Cuz I'm the friend you need.🎶

Who do you see getting along each other in a Marvel/Mortal Kombat Krossover? (For some reason, I keep pairing Ramonda and Jax together)

Thank you so much! Let's see here. Gwenpool and miss marvel would probably get along with Cassie cage. Thor would probably be friends with raiden. Or Thor might try to show off he's the true God of thunder. Spiderman would definitely hang out with the Kombat kids. Deadpool would probably be friends with Kano or Johnny cage and seriously confuse everyone in the mortal Kombat universe when he's breaking the fourth wall. Ant man could probably be friends with d'vorah. Hawk-eye would be friends with Kung jin. Groot could get along with cetrion and she would probably know what Groot is saying. Most people would just be confused by the fact that he's only saying "I am Groot". Baraka and wolverine. Need I say more? And there's probably a lot more but this post would be pretty long if I kept going.
