Lady Macbeth - Tumblr Posts

Single funniest piece of Shakespeare merch I have ever seen.
Lady Macbeth: I have girlbossed my way into too many situations...
Shakespeare characters as random things in my notes app
Lady Macbeth: It was so cunt of him to die
Hamlet, talking about Claudius: He looks like his hairline got a restraining order from his forehead.
Also Hamlet: After I found out I had a silly little mental disorder, I was like, “what if I went to England?”
Mercutio, angrily: If I was a shark, I would eat Tybalt.
Hamlet, with an idea for a play: I say, “beef jerky.” The camera pans to you, saying “No! Please no!” Then it pans back over to me. I am beef jerky.
Hamlet, with another idea for a play: I’m gonna write a one-act comedy of The Last Supper. Yes, “Judas, you’ve been awfully quiet.”
Laertes, to the tune of Creep by Radiohead: 🎶 I’m a crêpe 🎶
More to come.
okay, piper greenmantle everyone. is she lady macbeth? is colin greenmantle macbeth himself? is the raven cycle ALL just macbeth. idk seems like it to me.....
The whitewashing of female characters is starting to annoy me. I think I was too dense to notice before or maybe it’s just happening more but it’s so frustrating to come across it in otherwise extremely enjoyable stories. it doesn’t even ruin the characters for me but it makes me stumble so hard and I just keep thinking that it could be done more subtly. I’m literally on my knees for feminist media, the feminist angle is not the problem. just feels like writers get too caught up in restricting narratives cause they’re trying to say something and be nice about it. I don’t want nor do I need nice.
So I was thinking about Evil Women, as one does, and I think I've cracked the code. There's a taxonomy here, and they all fit into it somewhere.
I present to you: The Axis of Female Murderers:

do you ever have moments where you can tell the creator assumes you already find a character very annoying / unlikable / so forth and the story starts comporting itself accordingly to give the offending character disproportionately harsh treatment that you're not even really into and all the other characters are constantly dismissive or rude to them but because you dont get any personal rush out of seeing any of this it's just like Can you guys calm down.

Thanks, Bill!

I just want the creepy, tonally correct, utterly terrifying version of Macbeth I’ve always dreamed of in a movie format so I can watch it over and over, so Ari Aster if you’re out there-
So um I've never done this before but I have a theory about Macbeth that I really wanted to get more opinions on☺️.
So basically many people already know about how Macbeth may have PTSD and I want to take that further by saying that Banquo also had PTSD and they both hallucinated the witches.
First of all only these 2 characters were said to have had any interactions with the witches, so taking that what if these witches were only saying what Macbeth and Banquo wanted to hear. As in their deep inner thoughts. It is hinted that Macbeth would have loved to be king so it is possible that the witches were the bit inside if him that was his greed (I'm sorry idk how to explain this very well) and also this would not have been the only time Macbeth hallucinated, the dagger if the mind and Banquo at the banquet scene. So I see nothing against them being hallucinations especially if it is confirmed that he could've imagined humans during the banquet scene. Also little bit that during the banquet scene Lady Macbeth says that this is an old sickness from childhood and even though it's just an excuse it still goes so why not.
Now with Banquo he had a great heart so despite the fact that he didn't get to be king but his son does, he takes no action on the matter unlike Macbeth. So he also could've wanted that deep down.
It is also hinted that Lady Macbeth has lost a child and I think that it could have had some sort of mental illness too.

According to this random website I found online she had symptoms similar to PTSD so she could also be hallucinating or not in her right mind. We see this where she says "Out damned spot..." trying to get the non-existent blood out of her hands. Also it says guilt. Guilt that she felt after killing King Duncan. This probably really messed her up (as we saw) and might have been the overload that caused her to die (cuz we don't know the real reason).
So yeah that's my theory. Um, I'm not really sure what I was trying to prove but yeah.
Tag yourself femme fatale edition:
Mata Hari: best taste in jewelry, loves old spy novels, just wants to dance, body confidence, knows what betrayal feels like.
Delilah: likes to sleep in, will eat anything with honey, attracted to strength and vitality, has a hard time keeping secrets, dark and beautiful.
Cleopatra: first woman in the family to pursue an education/career, piercing eyes, loves with her mind, wants to sit by the ocean, has a morbid side.
Lady Godiva: stubborn as hell, political activist, nakedness is empowerment, bit of a hippie, questionable choice in lovers, excellent with animals.

Pandora: innocence was taken too young, curious as a cat, but satisfied in the end, light eyes, never lost hope in what love could be, too perfect.
upside of having acne and picking at it without noticing is occasionally i get to have a fun little lady macbeth moment of looking down at my hand and its randomly covered in blood, it makes me feel like the protagonist in a penny dreadful and thats the sort of whimsy i want in my life
A Macbeth version where one of the witches is always hooded and no one sees her face all through the play. Then after Lady Macbeth’s death we see two witches approaching the queen’s corpse, bearing a cloak and reaching the body say “Come sister, your part is done” at which the Lady rises, takes the cloak, pulls the hood over her face and all three witches disappear laughing manically at their latest triumph over the gullible humans.
lady macbeth was… something. (spoilers ish)!!!
i am a HUGE fan of ava reid. i have read all her previous books and LOVED THEM!! however, this is very much a lapvona by ottessa moshfegh situation. it is a well (?) written story, but i don’t think that this type of story makes the author shine.
i think that it’s great when authors branch and write in new genres, however lady macbeth feels like taking one genre and trying to fit it into the style of reid’s previous styles.
i read this book in two days, and i did enjoy it. i believe that the whole lysander/dragon thing was very predictable, but still an interesting plot point.
on the aspect of it being a shakespeare retelling…. this is where i start to tune out. i really didn’t feel like this was that, but at the same time that is all it was??
also, i hated the treatment of the scottish and scotland!!! very stereotyping and making scotland seem dull and bleak and grey when it is so beautiful!!!
i really don’t have any super cohesive thoughts on this. probably my least favorite ava reid book, but not the worst thing in the world.

TV Shows I Would've Watch
So this is inspired from a lot of posts I saw on Tumblr or Pinterest and thats the post. Feel free to add any other idea or reblog.
- Sitcom about Tom Sawyer and Hucky Finn. Hear me out. The books kind of sound like Sitcom and they are great. I think this can be awsome. They deserve at the very the very least a TV show or a movie.
- Sitcom (yes, another one) about all of Shakespeare's characters in modern days as college students that share dorms. Lady Macbeth is a total bitch and Juliet is obsessed with romantic movies and etc.
The first one is mine but the second isn't. I only added the things about Lady Macbeth and Juliet.
I jest love this gif

King Duncan: *dies*
Lady Macbeth:

Macbeth: “Hey now, I think maybe killing the king isn’t totally my jam.”
Lady Macbeth: “Pussy.”
Macbeth: “Well now you’ve hit my weakness. You’ve corrupted my mind and manipulated me. How dare you.”
Your face, my Thane, is like a book where anyone can read strange matters.
