The buildup to opening night was so stressful.

Tech week had been awful, a few sets even broke mid-week, because two guys started a fight over a fucking color

Those sets had to be pushed to the side so everyone could finish the rest, get props ready, costumes, etc. and were finally hurriedly fixed at the end of the week

Multiple cast members harshly critiqued others on their acting skills or commented on some costumes and props, no matter how accurate they were to (the original media/the scriptwriters' initial vision)

You knew the shows break time would be the worst, you just hoped cast members wouldn't get into any fights

Your phone pinged, and immediately you grabbed it. It was Ling, your boyfriend

"Hey, I'm here! Where r u?" - the message reads

"Backstage" - your message reads

Almost immediately, the door gets kicked down, and there stands your boyfriend with a goofy grin

"Hi hon! Oh, you look stressed." Ling falters a bit, then gently grabs your arms and stands close to you. "Are you alright? Should I have brought more (favorite treat)?"

Ling had noticed before opening night how stressed you had been

So, being the amazing boyfriend he is, he was by your side whenever he could

He was cuddling you, giving you your favorite sweets, watching whatever shows you wanted to watch, giving you so much affection leading up to opening night; Ling was your saving grace

"No, no, it's fine. I'm really just nervous about the break."

"Oh," He draws out. "Okay. Well, if you want me back here then, I can do that."

"I don't think you're allowed." You giggle.

"I have my ways, hon." Ling embraces you, giving you a kiss.

Your friend going on stage with you knocked on the door and walked in. "Oh! (Y/n), sorry. Just came in here to say we're going on in five."

They gave you a thumbs up and left. You turned back to Ling.

"You should head to your seat."

You both share one last kiss before Ling reluctantly pulls away. "I'll be back here at half time."

You laughed and nodded, waving him off. "I'll see you in the crowd."

At that, Ling opened his eyes. "I'll just have to keep 'em open, yeah?"

He then stuck his tongue out at you, making you giggle again. He then moved to the door.

Ling then blows you a kiss before leaving, making you giggle again.

"Yeah...with you, I just might." You'd whisper, before adding on any finishing touches before joining everybody behind the curtain.

(Y/n) coughed as she laid on her back, making her quickly switch to her side. Her stomach was churning, threatening to put up whatever she consumed, liquid or solid. She groaned as she clutched her stomach, trying not to dry heave.

Her phone dinged, making her head throb with the sound. Without looking at her phone, she turned off the ringer and closed her eyes. Hopefully that would ease the throbbing. At least she could breathe through her nose still.

Coughing once again, she felt her head throb with every cough that racked her body. She sighed after the coughing fit, hoping to get a nap in. Her coughing had woken her up all throughout the night. As her throat started to ease from the pain of coughing so much, her body finally started to succumb to sleep.

That was, until Ling's ringtone began to scream from her phone. She sighed, feeling the throb in her head intensify as the ringtone persists. Rolling over, she grabbed the phone and answered.

"Hello...?" (Y/n)'s voice was raspy, and cracked a little bit from not using it in a while.

"Honeyyy~! Why haven't you been answering me?" (Y/n) could practically hear Ling's pout over the phone.

"Sorry, Ling, uh..." She didn't wanna tell him she was sick, he'd start fussing over her. "I've just been busy."

"Busy with what? And why does your voice sound like that?"

"Sound like what?" Her voice cracked.

"Like that! It sounds all weird, and you didn't answer my question! What're you busy with?"

"My voice doesn't sound weird, Ling."

She could hear him whine. She sighs again. "Why did you whine, Ling?"

"Because you're not using any nickname!"

"...Sorry, sweetheart. I'm just very busy, okay?"

"Too busy to respond to me?"

"Yeah, 'm sorry." She mumbled, half asleep.

Ling whined again, then gasped. "I'll just come over, then!"

"What? No. Ling, I'm busy. I need to-" She went through another coughing fit. "Shit- sorry swee-"

She was interrupted by her own coughing, it being so loud she didn't hear Ling hanging up the phone. Or, at least, she didn't realize until her coughing fit was over. She sighed and got up, deciding to take medicine again.

"There's no doubt he heard me coughing...he's gonna show up..."

And she was right. Some time later, Ling pounded on the door. The pounding rang through her already throbbing head. She sighed and yelled through the door as best as she could.

"Ling! Please stop!"

"Sweetheart, please open the door! You don't sound well!"

"I'm fine!" She yells back, feeling the pain in her head increase.

"(Y/n)," Ling spoke seriously, ceasing his pounding. "You seriously don't sound well. I heard your coughing fit- you need medicine or a doctor right away."

"Ling, I-" She coughed a little from yelling before. "I'll be okay."

"Can I just please come in? I haven't really heard from you in a few days, and I really miss you..."

Ling spoke with a saddened tone. (Y/n) thought for a moment and sighed once more, unlocking the door and opening it slightly. She was happy to finally see her boyfriend after a while.

"Can you open the door more? I wanna kiss you..."

"No Ling, you'll get sick..."

"So you are sick. Good thing I brought medicine!" Ling held up a grocery bag.

"Ah-! I'm not sick!" (Y/n) fumbled.

Ling pushed past her anyway, and in her weakened state, she couldn't do anything to stop him. Opting to follow her boyfriend into her kitchen, she watched for a second as he took out the items in the bag, placing them on your counter.

(Y/n) hissed as her head continued to throb, so she reached for a glass. Ling snatched it from her hand, kissed her head and filled up the glass with water.

"Drink this, then I'll get you to bed."

"I'm not sick, Ling..." (Y/n) downed the glass of water.

"Sure you aren't." He took the glass and placed it upside down in the sink, then gently guiding his girlfriend back to her bed.

"Ling..."

"I want to hear no argument, okay?" Ling kissed her forehead as she laid down. "I love you~! I'm off to make you some soup."

With that, Ling turned and left out the door. (Y/n) sighed, then smiled, snuggling into her blankets and closing her eyes. Maybe being sick wasn't so bad after all, if Ling was by her side.

Ling from the very beginning of your relationship (and even before tbh) that you'd be up all hours of the night for days on end sometimes

He did worry, but the only response you'd give him was "insomnia"

This man doesn't know boundaries, so he's gonna pry into why you have insomnia

If you tell him its some like, psychological or trauma-induced reason, he wont go further unless you tell him or invite him to ask questions

However, if it's genetic, there's really not much else he can pry about lol

Ling has a bad habit of getting you little plushies and piling them up on your bed, making you send pictures of the plushie collection he's gotten you so he can gush over how cute they are

The first time he comes over, the man bursts into your bedroom (ofc) and with his arms open, yells, "Plush-babies! Daddy's home!"

Speaking of the first time he came over, that was actually the best sleep you had ever gotten

You both were watching a movie, Ling had passed out an hour ago and you were left to your own devices as you laid on his chest

Eventually, your eyelids became heavy and you were knocked out for wayyy more hours than you usually are

You woke up to Ling moving around and the smell of (lunch food) cooking in the air

Ling snickered and kissed you on the cheek. "You slept like a little baby. You even drooled on me a little, see?"

Your little plush babies will be pushed against the wall, Ling's back or side to them, you either pressed into his chest or his side with his arm over you no matter what

One that Ling notices the most, is waking up to you clinging to him for dear life

The ringing in your ears grew louder and you soon tuned out Lust and Greed, now being replaced by image after image of Ling with Lust

I can't really see him as being protective until he goes back home to Xing and becomes Emperor.

Although, that's for obvious reasons. Now that he's the Emperor, he now has enemies. Political and familial.

He's always with you unless absolutely necessary. His most elite and loyal guards are with you if he isn't.

He'll defend you as well from political enemies, like, lets say in a meeting.

"Emperor Yao, are you certain the (Emperor/Empress/Highness) should sit in this matter? I mean, not to disrespect your (husband/wife/spouse), but I intended this meeting to just be between you an-"

"(He/She/They) shall sit in the matter, because this country is just as much of (his/hers/theirs) as it is mine. Now, have a seat."

Or, he would be protective over you with Greed, if Greed ever somehow got a different body than Ling that looks like his identical twin. (just slightly taller-)

"Greed! Will you cut it out?!" Ling yells at him, holding you close.

"What? I just asked for a hug, prince." Greed grins, leaning closer to you.

Ling will then whisk you away, abandoning your drinks and losing the men in the dance crowd and successfully getting you away from danger

Ling is a bottomless pit, and he's not very picky with food. No matter if you eat anything, are picky yourself (like me huehue), vegan, vegetarian, on a diet, etc. he'll just eat whatever you don't

He loves holding your hand in crowds, fearing that he'll lose you if he doesn't (also gives him an excuse to hold your hand lol)

Always fights with Greed over who gets to sit next to you at dinner, so now you have to sit in the middle

Always fights with Greed over who gets to sleep next to you, cuddle you, or lay with you on movie nights. Now you have to be sandwiched between them or a fight's gonna break out

Ling will definitely spoon-feed you if you wanna try something on his plate

When he sleeps, he's squeezing you so tight and places his head snug in the crook of your neck, or on your tummy, or chest while he snores away. Greed throws pillows at him, he doesn't get much sleep with Ling. Good thing he doesn't need it

Now, Greed is a blunt, teasing and intense lover

He'll freely kiss you in public, pushing you against the wall and then pulling away right before it gets steamy with a teasing grin on his face

Greed bites when he wants attention. He's a very physical lover, so whenever Ling is talking to you and Greed wants your attention, he'll slowly peel back your shirt to expose your shoulder before biting down. Sometimes he doesn't have the patience for that and bites you through your shirt

Truly a feral man

He loves having your back to his chest. Makes him feel all powerful

Although he likes switching to Ling's position, where his face is in your neck, tummy or chest

Greed is also a picky eater. Whatever he doesn't eat he gives to Ling

Greed isn't very good at sharing, so it's a process for him to share with the Xingese Prince

While Ling holds your hand, Greed has his hand on your hip, waist or shoulder

Greed is quiet most of the time, but when he does pipe up, he's teasing either you or Ling

Greed also loves giving you forehead kisses. I dunno why, he just does

When the two of them are jealous, Ling will refer to you as "ours" while Greed refers to you as "mine"

Ling and Greed have a little thing they love to do, where they both kiss each of your cheeks, effectively trapping you in a love sandwich

Ling and Greed talk through movies and shows. It might get annoying if you don't tell them to cut it out

Greed never offers you his food. You wanna try someting? Get it yourself -_-

Ling will say "I love you!" excitedly like a puppy

Greed will say "I love you...'n stuff..." like a grumpy cat, but lights up when you say it back

Overall, Ling is the respectable boy while Greed is the handsy boy. You've gotten yourself in quite a twist, (Y/n)!
