Despite that, On and Hong immediately know that he’s intelligent—or they bother him enough to know it eventually.

As if his resourcefulness and caring nature didn’t make it obvious enough that he has high enough emotional intelligence to share his food with the siblings instead of hissing at them for approaching like other alley cats in the slums—

Does he scrounge for food in the trash? Yeah. But they’re almost never bad. No mold, no rot, no dirt. Of course when the food they manage to find is nothing but waste he does find other sources like hunting in the wild. Maybe eventually he urges the kids to turn human so they can cook it. He doesn’t do this often though bc while cats used to be wild and capable hunters he’s just a house cat now. Most he’ll catch are small birds and rodents.

He teaches the kids how to scam. With the magic of cat. Big eyes, cute meows—next thing you know Hans has brought them into the Henituse Estate. After that they endear themselves to the Henituse kids—Cale included.

Kim Rok Soo wants to stay away from the minor villain but honestly the absolute misery from the guy is bothering his afternoon nap so he makes it his daily mission to trip the redhead until he gets a pat.

One day Cale really does trip in the middle of a drunken act and Rok Soo just sits on him. Cale is resigned bc he is not a Cat, and therefore does not have the Divine Right to command anything, much less a cat off his throne.

Eventually Cale warms up to Kitty Rok Soo bc he gets to further his villain act by petting the cat in his lap with a deviously trashy smile—yes, Rok Soo followed him out to the bar. No, he couldn’t stop Rok Soo.

Cats have nine lives. Anybody trying to hurt KRS would be unlucky enough to suffer divine retribution bc black cats are “bad luck.” Heh.

Obviously Ron would know all three of the cats aren’t normal but seeing the growing affection between the Henituse family and the felines he kinda just accepts it like he does in canon and tries to teach the kiddos assassination techniques.

He tries to teach KRS too even after learning he’s a normal—if abnormally intelligent—cat, but KRS runs to Cale every time. After the first time that Ron almost caught KRS, KRS makes sure there’s always ten escape routes that take him to either Cale or Deruth in a minute or less at any moment in time.

Or you know what, KRS’s favorite Ron-deterrent is Violan bc she doesn’t fool around with him like Deruth. Favorite pastime is watching her sculpt bc the noises are hypnotic and it’s like watching discovery channel in live 4k HD. Deruth is only for when he’s in an emergency where neither Cale nor Violan are around. Or when he wants pats.

He stays away from Beacrox bc hello germaphobe torture expert?? No cats allowed in the kitchen?!?!? Little does he know that Beacrox does have a soft spot for the kittens and leaves snacks outside the kitchen for them and the first time KRS takes the offerings he’s so pleased that Ron pets KRS, who is scared shitless but that’s just how it is.

No cause this hurts and I would love to see this idea!

Do you think Fredo has been lonely for the longest time, which lead him to create Naru?

Like sure he has his loyal servants and vassals who come to him at every beck and call, but.. he's a duke. It doesn't seem like he has anyone else "his level" around him and it doesn't seem like he has family??

Maybe he's been aching to have someone he could call his own. His blood, his family, his beloved. But he isn't foolish. Lots of people probably want to gain power or riches .. and the freak next door (white star) would obviously try to use them against him (if he ever falls in love or has children). He's been yearning for YEARS.. like, CENTURIES, but he doesn't ever put himself out there or even consider it a choice. It's too selfish to bring someone into his world. It's too dangerous to love someone. Vampires aren't monsters.. they feel lonely, too.

So he creates Naru. Of course, he uses it to create an image and sway the masses! But deep inside, he just wishes that he could have a child. Someone to love... To guide. Someone he could shower with the centuries of love that's been piling up.

When Cale comes along, he finds himself listening to the tiny voice in his head that shouts at him to claim the human as his own. Something about Cale is exactly how he imagined his own child to be. He's always dreamed of a child that bickers with him, showing him a bratty side only he would see while charming the world. This is his chance!! This is all he's wanted! So he casts out an offer. His cold, dead heart feels like it's alive or something. Weird. Call the doctor.

Cale agrees for his own reasons and he knows that the human obviously doesn't actually view him as family. (He's jealous of the group of people that surrounds the human. He wants to be in it). He's ecstatic.

He immediately begins showering Cale in as much affection as he can without being too much. Giving him the information he needs, buying him loads of sweets that he seems to like, just giving him all that he can. (His son is so cute when he asks for things, how can he not give in to his baby?) Cale seems sarcastic when he calls Fredo father or responds as Naru though... So cute!! How charming!! It's like his son is in a rebellious phase!!

They have a scare when white star wisks him away for far too long for his liking (and Cale's). When his son is returned he swoops in, pulling his boy (he's not yours, idiot) to his chest. The human stiffens in his hold, a calculating look in his eyes as he demands to be put down.

"there's no one here, why are you like this"

"just this once..." He begs, the aching had been gone for a while, he opens his mouth and closes it a few times, but nothing else comes out.

(Cale sighs and resigns himself to being held. Oh well, at least it's a comfortable hold).

He's grown too attached to his son, but he knows. His son isn't his. Naru isn't real.

We must defeat Cale Henituse!

Cale/Naru: Do you know why innocent bastards are scary?

Choi Han and Raon: ?

Cale, smirking: They have the courage to run wild without knowing that the world is scary.

Choi Han: *gulps* …What are you planning on doing?

Cale: *brushes the cookie crumbs off his fingers* I am going to suggest at the grand assembly that we immediately attack and get rid of Cale Henituse.

Choi Han and Raon, internally: 'Hmm? What?'

Cale, jumping up from the couch: *shouting* ‘Cale Henituse, the evilest enemy in the world who turned my father this way! I, Naru Von Ejellan, believe that we must defeat this enemy as soon as possible!’ That’s the bomb I will drop on the grand assembly that is busy preparing for the festival! *looks at Choi Han* So, Choi Han.

Choi Han:…Yes…Cale-nim.

Cale: Tell Duke Fredo to relax and rest for a few days. This angry yet pure bastard needs to flip the kingdom around a bit before he wakes up.

Choi Han, internally: Was Cale-nim going to tell them to go get rid of him with his own mouth? What is Cale-nim thinking? …I’m sure he must have a plan.

Cale: Ah, this cookie is delicious. Should I ask the White Star for more? I feel like he’d send a truckload over if his nephew asked for it.

Raon: …I think that at least your cookie-related thought is a good suggestion.

Cale: Right? Hehe.

Cale: On it's getting pretty late turn off the light and get too bed

On: Just one more chapter

Cale: no it's time for bed

On: tsk you're such a boomer

A Field of Spider Lilies - TCF

So uh- Does anyone remember for like Nov last year where I mentioned a Twin AU for Trash of the Count's Family? Yeah, I was thinking about it again because it got buried in my notes and I recently uncovered it.

It took me FOREVER to think of a name for this AU but I wanted to give it one because I actually really do want to write this and would love to talk about it while I do so :D

Under the cut is gonna be just some info about the au as it stands and MAAAYYYBBBEEEEE a mini clip of what I had written/a plan I have for it.

First and foremost, bada dum! The title "Field of Spider Lilies" has been decided! It literally took me so many things to get to this lol- I was tempted to do "It Takes Two to Terrorize" as a play on "It Takes Two to Tango" but felt this was a bit better in general. I know many people will instantly think of red spider lilies, which is what I want!!! They are a dangerous and ill-thought flower, however, their meaning isn't always so dark.

Using this, since it is closest to my own interpretations of spider liles and their colors, I think each of them fits the twins. There is no specific color I will EVER assign to the lilies of the title, so you can imagine as you will with each part what coloring best fits the story at the time. If they're scamming they could be yellow. Injured? Red. Surrounded by those they love? White. Within a battle or something? Orange. It's all about the perception of the reader for the color, so you may all have fun with this :D

Also, Death would absolutely love if his children were represented by a flower that represented him so you know I'm going to fully use this to my advantage. No one will stop me and my bundle of flower meanings I've been holding onto since I learned they were a thing as a young child-

Kim Rok Soo has been named as well! He has now been dubbed our good boy Arlen! I always find the fact that Cale's name means dog as well as wholehearted fits both Og!Cale and KRS!Cale very well, so I wanted to find a name that also fit Twin!KRS as well. Then I found Arlen. Which means "hare land" (in a direct sense) but also if spelled with an "i" instead of an "e" it means "pledge/oath" which is also very fitting for our boy.

Also. Hare and the Hound. I couldn't not take the opportunity to have the twins be a reference to something. Let alone the fact that it's a story whose moral is essentially; "life is the most precious thing". I COULDN'T NOT DO IT ALRIGHT-

So their names are both a reference to a child's story that fits them as well as a name that fits our good boy KRS in general.

NOW ONTO SOME OF THE ACTUAL INFO ABOUT THE FIC TO BE!(I will be referring to KRS as Arlen, however, fear not, his middle name is Roksu, in reference to the more official translation, and he will be referred to by that as well since he's embarrassed that his name basically means bunny lol.)

Arlen and Cale are telepathic. Not because of the typical 'time to have creepy telepathic twin time' because let's be real these two can and will learn how to communicate with nothing but staring at one another even if they weren't. They are telepathic though because the GoD felt a little bit bad about making them children again and wanted to give them a way to communicate early on. At least he only turned them into toddlers!

Jour, since her ancient power lets her see time, knows very well that something happened. She doesn't know what it is because even her power has its limits, but she knows she was only meant to have one child, but loves both her boys equally. The day they 'awaken' into their new bodies, she is also very aware that their time has yet again changed. She's worried, but still never tells anyone her plan.

Cale is an emotional mess but hides it. Arlen is an emotional mess but ignores it. Ron is about at his wit's end at this point between the two of them. And he's an assassin. He should have more patience than this-

They also cannot completely suppress their child-like instincts, which is both funny as if one cries the other probably will as well, but also horrible for when they're a bit older because oh y'know...trauma response from Arlen when he was Kim Rok Soo.

Cale is ever so slightly older and has decided despite their plan to stick close to the early plot up until Choi Han since nothing big happens before then(that they are aware of because Cale barely remembers half of what happened after his family died, he was kind of too numb to), that he is going to not let anyone hurt Arlen. Cause y'know. Telepathy. And Record. In a child's body.

I am very much not letting anyone forget Rok Soo grew up with that curse and if he ever had to be a younger child closer to the time he was around his uncle he probably wouldn't be able to help his instincts. Since even in canon he notes how trauma for a child is so scary for that very reason- Okay y'all get it I'll stop u-u

Anyway, Cale has seen some of the 'nightmares' his brother has and is wondering if after they ensure they can live peacefully even with the war that happens (Cale doesn't know they would have lost the war- he was too distracted and numb to truly care for much else than fighting those who wronged him!) if there is a way to get some petty revenge against those from another world.

In regards to Ancient Powers, I do have a plan, but if I share this, it t will be some major spoilers soooo maybe you'll have to wait for now >:3c

Finally, in this long tirade I've been on- I have a little snippet from when the first day they awoke!

I do have plans to do a bit of stuff pre-TCF plot with the twins since it will help build the dynamic I want as well as just give some fun interactions I believe we all deserve. Of course, there will be some serious, some fun, and some embarrassing childhood memories to be shown that Cale would will definitely get chased over if he told them.

I know that most people draw OG! Cale with short hair, esp in twin AUs to create distinction with Roksu but I really like his long hair. Long haired OG! Cale has a special place in my heart frfr.

So, I was thinking on the little mermaid. About how she lost her mom when she was a kid, and then music become a taboo around the palace, so she had to snuck out to enjoy music. And my dumb brain whispered "hey, do you think Cale had something like that?"

And now I can't stop thinking about little og Cale, who loved his mom a lot, but loved his father too, and didn't want to see him sad.

The question is not if he had things he enjoyed doing before his mom's death, but that he stopped doing around others after she died. The question is:

What habits or activities do you think he liked to do before? What do you think he kept doing where no one could find out? Which ones do you think he stopped doing because there was not point in doing it alone?

Do you think he liked painting, drawing? I can imagine little Cale seated on his mom's lap while she paints, trying to look serious like his mom, sketching the bird on the window. I can imagine Cale, older, lonelier, locking himself in his room under the excuse of sleep and pulling out a sketchbook from its hideout.

Maybe he liked to sing along his mom, to play something for her. Maybe he still sings for himself. Maybe he goes out and wanders, looking for a place remote enough so no one could see him. Maybe he seats on a branch of a tree and sings until the sun sets. But, maybe, he hasn't play a single note since his mom went away. Maybe everytime he holds an instrument, his hands shakes so much from sadness that he has to put it down ir he'll break it. Maybe he doesn't even touch one around others because he's afraid that they could see how lonely he is. That what he shows is usually just an act.

Maybe he used to do other things. Maybe he used to try desserts and pastries with his mom. Maybe he used to learn etiquette and dancing from her. Maybe they used to choose clothes together. Maybe he still can do all that when the situation allows it. When it doesn't look suspicious.

And maybe he used to play hide and seek with Ron and his mom. Maybe he used to brush her hair and braid it for her. Maybe she used to teach him about plants, doing some gardening together.

Maybe Cale Henituse could never do that again.

Maybe, once he swapped bodies, he slowly started to do things again.

Fem OG! Cale lives in my mind rent free and I'm not even mad about it.

I gave her the name Callie cause it's close enough to Cale and I think it's a really cute name. The anon in this post sums up my feelings perfectly.

I think short hair is great but I like long hair better, and I really like the idea of a long haired Callie! Like the idea of a fake short hairstyle mentioned by Sorby in the post linked above.

Maybe she didn't have the heart to cut her hair, it reminded her too much of her mother. So, she'd tie it with a pretty headband to make her hair look like a bob.

Callie would braid her hair in the silence of her room, ignoring the world around her as she weaved together silky and sweet-smelling red strands.

Maybe, she bonds with Lily through her ability to style hair. Lily practices with the sword so as her Unnie, Callie helps her tie it up so it won't get in the way and won't get damaged either.

I love Callie.

More Fem OG! Cale rambles...

The idea of Callie as a noona/unnie is very precious to me. Callie brushing Lily's hair while the little girl animatedly talks about her day and her training. Callie giving Basen advice on his studies and forcing him to take a break when he pushes himself too hard.

Firm believer that OG! Cale would give the Best hugs ever, Callie has the bonus of having soft boobs as well :) So, I imagine that any hypothetical love interest Callie would have would take great pleasure in burying their face in her chest. Alberu? Long day of mansplain, manipulate and malewifing, he is so tired and all he wants is his firecracker 'trashy' wife in his embrace and his face in her tiddies. Choi Han? Long day of arguing and training and commandeering, cuddles in the cover of darkness are a must.

I'd mention more but maybe later. All you have you to know is that Callie has soft boobs and they are great.

Also, I have a big thing with like scent attraction and obviously, Callie putting the amount of effort that she does into her appearance, would smell great. I don't know what she would smell like though so feel free to give suggestions!

Callie would have practical accessories, especially if it is a regression AU. Her hair pins can be used to stab people and they function as lockpicks. Her rings are designed to function like sharp brass knuckles and her necklaces have protective mana jewels that create small shields. Stuff like that.
