JAN22 BOOKS
I have a goal of reading a lot of books this year, and for fun I decided to make this funky little review of them.
COSMICOMICS, Italo Calvino
It was essentially a collection of various short essay-type stories, narrated by our enigmatic and ever-changing Qfwfq. They all have many ties to space and astronomy, and delve into some really interesting topics, theories and scientific concepts (some of these flew over my head but I digress). It’s an older book, of course, and the author is Italian (my copy is an English translation). But I loved it all, great food for the imagination.
THE LONG WALK, Richard Bachman
A dystopian where each year, 100 boys across the United States participate in the Long Walk. Where you walk endlessly, until someone wins. It’s a death game, but the interactions between our protagonist, Garraty, and the other boys is always worth the read for me. Pretty quick read, too, I finished it in a day. Some of the dialogue is pretty memorable. Particularly, the jahoobies.
MY BODY, Emily Ratajkowski
Emily Ratajkowski provides an autobiography on her life, from when she was young to where she is now, including her career and its ups and downs. A really insightful and raw read, that isn’t afraid to pull its punches or anything. Another quick read, but still very good. I enjoyed it when I picked it up in January.
SALEM’S LOT, Stephen King
Small town, supernatural shenanigans. We have a few protagonists, and one main antagonist. I feel like it’s a retelling of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, but a good one nonetheless. The twists were really good, I was on the edge of my seat with it all. Not so much horror, but very thrilling. The strong suit is all of the people who live in Salem’s Lot and how interconnected everyone is. A bigger book but still a decent read.

Why do I occupy this body? Why is my soul in this body?
I’m taking a healthy, well functioning body from another who could’ve needed it.
While my soul raveges this hull and hates on this physical hull, holding it here and staying alive against all its wishes, some other, more deserving soul, suffers a painfully weak body.
I’m taking up another’s space. Someone who would’ve deserved and appreciated this life while I’m wasting away.
If you listen closely You can hear the quiet symphony of my soul You can identify a perfectly unsynchronized harmony And yes...there is the melody I feel it flowing through me The rhythm keeping in time with my heartbeat Humming in my veins The tempo falling off the rails every so often If you listen closely You may hear the crescendo approaching I seldom do, it gets me every time The verses are not always comprehensible But I do not think they need to be However The chorus is a different story No matter what The music always seems to come back To you
