To be fair, if my brother killed everyone but the man I hate, I would be pissed as well

Poseidon WIP!

I am not used to drawing muscular men, so this is my first time learning this kind of male anatomy! I am really proud of this WIP (even though he is missing an arm...and his hair 😅)

Poseidon

I'd like to think that as Percy grows older, he starts resembling Poseidon way more than anyone expects.

And not today, modern, chill fisherman Poseidon, we're talking ancient Greek God Poseidon. This also includes some...unique features.

Sharp teeth, sometimes when he gets agitated and frustrated his irises become sharper and thinner. His hair gets pretty dang long, going to the middle of his back; kinda symbolic of the ocean with waves and curls. (Which Annabeth loves braiding or playing with. Percy does not cut his hair.)

One time he's on a quest for 3 months and is not in any position to shave, so he is rocking a beard while visiting Olympus to give back whatever item the gods need at the time.

Suffice it to say that Apollo has a heart attack, Zeus nearly faints on the spot, Hermes is sitting in a corner holding up a cross and reciting the entirety of the Bible, Athena has Athens flashbacks and Ares re-evaluates his entire life in two consecutive minutes.

Poseidon is incredibly proud.

I also have a headcanon that the more a demigod takes after their godly parent, the more it pleases said godly parent.

It's like a claim on the kid, in a way to tell the other gods that "this is my kid, mine. Look at him and all the ways he resembles me."

So Poseidon is watching Zeus have a midlife crisis while he's giggling and kicking his feet. He tells Percy to definitely keep the beard.

"Do you think it'll stop one day?" Percy asked of him one day, breaking the comfortable silence they both basked in.

Poseidon tilted his head toward his child, raising his eyebrow as Percy laid down on the wooden floor of the dock.

"What, little one?" He questions the boy back, his tone curious and fond.

His son sighs softly, splashing around the water with his feet. He looks up at the lavender-toned dawn, stars shining across the heavens like a divine pattern on the fabric of the world.

"The suffering. The constant struggle for a losing battle where I can never win." The boy says, the reflection of the stars in his eyes, like a swirling galaxy of miracles and wonder.

Poseidon stills.

He slowly turns to his son and closes his eyes as he breaths out his words.

"I'm sorry." He apologizes.

"Don't be," Percy says back, his voice firm but soft. "It's not your fault, and neither it is mine. I'm not blaming you for loving me enough to make my existence a reality."

Poseidon opens his eyes, his gaze filled with sadness.

"Then what can I do?" Poseidon whispers desperately. "Whisk you away to be my side? Keep you chained to this land by immortalizing your body and destroying your soul? You wouldn't want any of that. I am a god and yet I can do nothing to aid you with your pain." He finishes, falling silent as angry waves crash upon the shore and stormy clouds cover the sky like curtains.

Percy glances at the crashing waves on the horizon, at the dark ocean that stretches to eternity and beyond.

"I don't know. And it's okay for you to not know either." Percy says calmly.

"Just be here for me until I won't be here at all."

And wait until comes forth the inevitable end.

The lack of Neptune material is an absolute travesty.

You're telling me, the Roman version of Poseidon, does not even get an appearance???

I shall now take upon myself to remedy this.

So

Neptune headcanons:

He's not as volatile as Poseidon. he doesn't get angry or insulted as easily either, but this does not mean he will not respond to you blatantly insulting him. There will be consequences to it.

He is arguably more possessive than Poseidon, especially when it comes to his offspring. He's incredibly controlling of his children's lives, often to a damaging degree. If the phrase "helicopter parent" had a personification, it would be this dude.

He does not give a fuck whether a child is his or from his counterpart. You are his no matter what you say, no, you are not escaping from him either.

To add to the last point, this man was seething when he found out Percy was at camp Jupiter, for the sheer factor of not being able to claim him. He went absolutely batshit crazy on Hera after that. He spent 80 YEARS not having a child, and the second he found out that he does it was ripped away from him.

He doesn't really use a human form. He just can't be bothered with it, why would he? He's just gonna appear to people as a humanoid blob of water and temporarily sends them to the underworld. He unironically throws water on his kids as a form of affection.

Percy both loves him and is scared of him. Neptune is completely unaware of this and just keeps grinning at Percy with his monstrous-looking ass teeth. Percy spends five days asking Poseidon if he has them too after that. (He does, not that he tells Percy, but he does.)

Neptune actually has a decent relationship with his brother, Jupiter. Jupiter regularly visits his brother and they gossip about their Greek sides.

Do tell me if you want another one of these for other gods in the asks! :)

Neptune [in human form] has scarlet-red graceful silky curls up to the middle of her back [they are so bright that they look like ruby - rich blood-red and shining].

Now imagine him looking at his beautiful son [shut up Poseidon, he's mine!] and thinks he would look even more gorgeous with his features - a couple of minutes of reflection…

The next morning, Percy woke up red-haired with longer hair and teeth that were too sharp. As a nice bonus, - scales shining with a delicate blue shade on the lower back, elbows and collarbones with shoulders.

This is GENIUS.

OK, but imagine

Whenever He crosses the Roman boundaries, he starts resembling Neptune, his hair changing and growing teeth and scales. (Which needs water too, mind you! Or else they'll become dry and itchy! And Neptune takes it as a sign to kidnap, ehem, express adopt his son to his relam.)

Poseidon is NOT pleased. Amphitrite has to restrain his husband from tearing himself apart trying to fuck up Neptune.

I also think that Neptune's eyes are more of a darker blue than sea green. Like the dark oceans of the arctic. Cold and icy.

So Percy's eyes also change between them.

Oh my days this is beautiful 🥹

Also, him just picking up his kids and holding them up to his subjects like a cat saying "look at this! It's mine :D"

I love Neptune and his children! so much, could you give me a bunch of random and chaotic headcans about him and his children?

Here are a few of mine that I came up with inspired/take as a basis by yours:

When he's taking on human form, eyes of Neptune shimmer, flicker and change color, unlike the monophonic eyes of Poseidon - It is usually a deep dark blue like Arctic waters or a light, grayish blue like the white sea. When he is angry, his eyes turn black as the depths of the sea, untouched by humanity. And when he is happy, his eyes take on the color of the ocean blue, bright calm and soft.

Neptune gets along very well with his sister Ceres against the background of their shared almost manic love for their children - Proserpine and all the children of Neptune in general. They will sit drinking nectar and devouring fruits to discuss their children - from the number of endearments and words of love for children, those who are nearby may burst their heads. And they will give themselves up with memories of how their children were small and so damn sweet. Back then, they still accepted their love normally.

Neptune is a helicopter parent, but he also has the traits of an elephant parent, he loves his kids so much. He comforts his children by stroking their heads and whispering gentle words in their ears. Their emotional comfort is really important to him. He also often shows physical affection - cuddling or snuggling, holding hands, kissing on the forehead or cheek, or maybe all together in turn, scratching their backs and massaging their shoulders. He is also a big fan of sleeping together - his presence, the gentle swaying of the wave-like atmosphere and his scent are a combination of jasmine and sea salt, soothing and relaxing for his children. next to him, they can have a wonderful night's sleep without nightmares. He loves skin-to-skin contact.

This are all so cute!

OK here are some of mine:

He likes to carry his children, like a lot. He picks them up as he pleases and just whooshes around showing them things like "look at this one! Isn't it great? :D" and his children are like "???"

He's warmer than the average human, he's like a heated blanket. Sometimes Percy or Tyson plop down next to him and sleep or cuddle bc he's so warm and comfy.

He has a habit of nipping his kids. Oh, you're doing something dangerous? *nom* you're not anymore!

He's very touchy about his kids, especially with other gods. He absolutely despises the lingering power or aura of other Gods on his kids, growling and just yeeting his kids to the nearest body of water to take away anything from other gods. This happens a lot when Percy starts hanging out with Apollo or Hermes.

He has no understanding of human foods. Sometimes he just brings massive amounts of fish and raw meat to his kids to have them eat it. Percy tried telling him he couldn't just eat it raw, but Neptune just shoved it in his mouth. (He found out, that indeed, he could, eat it raw.)

What do you think the relationship of the children of Neptune looks like?

I think they are little frys who are super loving and affectionate to each other. They are such protective possessive for each other.

Percy is just glad that he doesn't have any siblings on the Neptune line.

Hmm.

They're obviously possessive, but I would say they are more ruthless than the children of Poseidon. Like the cold and calculating type.

They are vengeful to people who harm those they hold dear, often going to the extreme in trying to get revenge.

It could even be their fatal flaw, the inability to let go of hatred in their hearts, often leading to them pushing away the people that still care about them.

Neptune is also a protective father. He is very protective, even if his son is the hero of Olympus and the savior of the world. In his eyes, Percy is such a kid who needs his daddy and his protection.

From the outside, it looks strange - Percy is sitting sweetly somewhere and drinking apple juice through a straw and Neptune is stroking his head with cooing.

some idiot who thinks that he is immortal: "He is already an adult and a hero of Olympus, such a manifestation of care is a little inappropriate." Neptune: *turns him into a small pool of blood* My Seusie, would you like some more tender fish and or juicy beef?

Neptune definitely sees the utter bs Zeus puts his kid through and goes haywire protective mode.

In his eyes, his child is super mentally fragile (especially if it's after of Tartarus.) And will snap at anyone unfamiliar in the immediate vicinity.

Neptune decides to chew out Poseidon and gives him migraines for the next three months.

Neptune gets a mug that says "best godly parent of the year". (Poseidon steals it lol)

What makes this funnier is that Poseidon canonically has more kids than Zeus 💀✋️

liz rant !

as a fan of the books as well as the tv show ima js go out a say some of the book fans are too damn picky. rick has had over 10 years to think and redo things to make the series how he wants it to be. if i wrote books almost 20 years ago and had a choice to make a tv show, i would change shit too. if y’all want a carbon copy of the books, then read the damn books and stop hating on the cast.
