WILD CARD.

Seungmin x reader. (s)
Synopsis: Seungmin got angry at you and it’s not because he lost a game to Lee Know. (2,1k words)
Minho tried to hold his waves of laughter as he showed his Uno cards at you.
You gasped because he got all the best cards. You looked at Seungmin, knowing that he’d lose this round again.
He shot you a glare, sensed the pity in your eyes.
Seungmin put out his cards when Minho burst out giggling as he pulled out the wild draw 4 cards one after another because there was no use for Seungmin to try. He leaned back against the couch and sighed in defeat.
Minho held his hands up at you, and you high-five him to congratulate him but caught both your hands in his, “What’s the result again?” He asked you, tangling his hands with yours.
Your eyes hovered to Seungmin, he was collecting the cards on the table.
“4:5 to Minho!” You answered.
Minho laughed that villainous laugh of him and finally let go of your hands, grabbed his glass of mango juice, and took a long swig.
You scooted over to Seungmin, couldn’t decide whether you should try to comfort him or just let him be, afraid that you would ruin his already sour mood. You settled on the latter.
“Don’t be mad, Seungmin! It’s just a game!” Minho said with a mocking tone before getting up from the floor.
“I’m going to bed,” he announced, took his phone from the table, “goodnight!” Minho gave you a ruffle on your hair and then went to his bedroom.
You were about to loop your arms around him until Seungmin suddenly took his jacket and put it on.
“Come on, I’m going to drive you home!” He said to you, there was a slight edge to his words.
You nodded at him and gathered your things from the coffee table.
It only took less than 15 minutes to get you to your place from his dorm, mainly because the traffic was slow towards the middle of the night.
Seungmin opened the car door for you like he usually does, maybe he wasn’t as mad as you think he was after all.
“I can’t stay long tonight,” he told you, locked the car as you made your way to the elevator.
“It’s okay,” you said to him, you guessed he was tired, and that contributed to this sour mood of his.
Seungmin was terribly quiet in the elevator, not that he’s the type to blabbering around, but sometimes he would randomly ask about your day or vice versa.
The elevator dinged as it arrived at your floor, your hand reached for his hand but Seungmin got out the second the elevator door slid open. Your heart sank, convinced that Seungmin was really mad at you.
He didn’t wait for you to enter your passcode to your place since he already knew it by heart, your steps getting heavier feeling more convinced that Seungmin was mad at you.
“Aren’t you going to come in?” He asked, holding the door open for you.
You quickly entered the house, stood there by the threshold, you braved yourself to confront him.
“Are you mad at me?” You asked, your voice almost breaking at the end of your sentence.
Seungmin shot you a look then bent down to take off his shoes. He put his feet in the slippers he always wears around your place and walked inside, brushing past you.
You scoffed at his brashy attitude. You took off your shoes and kicked them to the side out of frustration, you followed him inside.
“Seungmin, what is wrong with you?” You asked him again because the silent treatment he gave you only irritated you more.
He just stood there in the middle of the room, took off his jacket then sat down on the sofa.
“Take off your clothes!” He said, his voice loud and firm.
He noticed the puzzled look on your face, he leaned forward with elbows resting on his knees.
“I said, take off your clothes!” he tried again, louder and resolute.
You sighed in exasperation but finally relented to whatever he was trying to do to you.
You took off your outerwear, then started unbuttoning your top one by one, Seungmin’s eyes didn’t leave you even for a second. You snapped open the button of your jeans and pulled it down and off your legs.
You stood there facing him, wearing nothing but the nude-colored undergarments. Your heart beating so fast you started to think you’re about to have a cardiac arrest.
Seungmin sighed before sitting down on the floor with his back against the sofa, he spread his legs open.
“Come here, sit down.” He patted the space between his legs.
You complied because it didn’t seem like he was going to tell you twice.
You walked over to him, sat down with your back leaned on his chest.
He took your hands and placed them under his arms, “Keep these hands here.” He commanded.
At this point, he wasn’t really asking you, you decided to just obey him.
“Bend your knees!”
You bent your knees as he told you.
Seungmin parted your legs with his hand, spreading them open next to his legs.
You turned your head to the side, stole a glance at Seungmin only for him to sharply exhaled cold air onto your bare shoulder.
He grabbed your chin and roughly kissed you on the mouth, his kiss was passionate and hungry like his life was depending on it.
He broke the kiss, left you breathless and dizzy from the lack of oxygen. With one hand reached your back, Seungmin unclasped your bra, you held up your hand to help him got rid of it and placed your hands back under his arms as he instructed you to.
You heard Seungmin scoffed behind you.
He placed his hand on your breast, fondling and kneading, rolling your bud between his thumb and index finger then tugged at it before pulled it away, which caused you to yelp in pain. He did the same to the other one, but this time he gave your breast a gentle slap, causing you to writhe in his hold.
“If it’s about earlier, I’m sorry, Seungmin!” You told him, as you panted.
“Who told you to speak?” He snapped, his eyes dark and wide. You shrank, feeling small now under his hold.
Seungmin moved his hand to your core now, slipped his hand under, and didn’t waste any second to start circling his fingers around your bundle of nerves.
You squirmed, feeling waves of pleasure getting into you. Without hesitating,
Seungmin slipped two fingers inside you, you gasped at the sudden penetration. He started pumping his fingers into you, he synced it with the thumb that circling your clit.
He knew his way around you, it didn’t take long for your high come closing in.
Your breath quickens, the knot in your stomach tightens, you were on the verge of your climax when Seungmin pulled out completely.
Your body shook at the orgasm denial, groaned onto his neck, “Seungmin,” you called breathlessly.
“You should have known what you did wrong now, huh?” He asked, pressed his mouth so close to your ear.
“I’m sorry, Seungmin,” you quickly apologized.
“For what?” He asked.
“For earlier, I’m sorry that you lost, I should have comforted you,” you told him, half panting.
He clicked his tongue together, “You think I’m mad over a stupid card game?”
Seungmin leaned forward to ripped down your underwear off your legs, “I’m going to give you more time to think over what you did wrong,” he said, parting your legs open and spread it open so he could palmed your cunt and without warning, jammed his digits back into you.
You cried out, he was knuckles deep inside you, his thumb on your clit again, syncing their movements.
Seungmin buried his head onto your neck, sucking and biting on the soft skin, your hand helplessly reaching for his head but he was quick to catch you by your wrist.
“You are not allowed to touch me.” He said to you, he brought your other hand to your chest then held both your hands there with a grip around your wrists.
You felt your high closing in again, and Seungmin noticed it too, he quickly pulled out of you again. You winced at being denied once again, your body slumped against his chest.
“Seungmin, please,” you pleaded with tears started pooling in your eyes.
“You know what you did wrong now?” He asked.
You swallowed air before you could answer, “Minho,” you paused to catch a breathe, “you’re mad because I was too close to Minho,”
Seungmin landed a slap on your cunt, sending your body jolted in its wake, you yelped, feeling a surge of pain rippled through your body.
“Why are you crying?” He asked in a mocking tone as a tear rolled down the corner of your eyes, “You were so happy with Minho earlier,” he added.
His hand began to go for another round on your cunt, he tapped your clit in rapid motion. Your body was already sensitive at this point, the slightest stimulation made you gasped and writhed.
“I didn’t mean to. I’m sorry,” you said, blubbering your words.
Seungmin shook his head, “I’m going to give you another lesson.”
He started fingering you again, your body stopped thrashing around due to exhaustion, sweat coated your body. Your body was heating, making your skin sweat, hot to the touch.
“Please, Seungmin, please,” was all you could manage to say to him, repeatedly, hoping he’d take a pity on you. It was hopeless though, your third high coming in yet he halted his movement just right when you were on edge.
Seungmin looked down on you with streaks of tears painted on your face.
“Not so happy now, huh?” He sneered, “why don’t you ask Minho for help?”
“Seungmin, please,” you said between your choked sobs.
“I’m getting sick of your pleads,” he said with a faint disgust in his words.
He brought his fingers that were inside your cunt a moment ago into your mouth, jammed it too deep into your mouth sending you gagging, when he pulled it out, you coughed with saliva dribbling down your mouth.
“You should’ve thought before you acted out like that,” Seungmin said, there was bitterness in his tone.
You coughed a few times before you could finally say a croaking apology, “I’m sorry,”
Seungmin looked down at you again, started taking pity on you as your body laying in limply before him, drained from overstimulation.
Sweat, tears, and saliva, your body struggled to keep awake. Seungmin let go of his grip on your wrists, sending your hands fell down to your sides. He scooped your body and hoisted it onto his lap, holding you in his care now.
Your tears seeped into the front of his shirt, “I’m sorry,” you said again, or it was your unconsciousness that said it.
“Shh….” he shushed you. He slowly got up from the floor then carrying you with his arms to your bedroom.
He lay you down gently on the bed. He got up to stripped off of all of his clothes then lay beside you on the bed. He hovered above you to removed strands of hair that stuck to your face, his thumb wiping down the tears from your eyes.
“My baby,” he cooed. He pressed kisses all over your face, tenderly as if he tried to make up for what he did to you.
“Baby,” he said with a sigh, peppering your neck with kisses.
“Seungmin,” you called out his name, your choked sobs replaced with low hiccups now, “I’m sorry,”
He shushed you again, “It’s okay, it’s alright now,” he convinced you, his thumb rubbing your cheeks.
“Seungmin,” you called out again.
“Yes, baby?” He replied.
“I still want you,” you told him almost pathetically.
He lowly chuckled against the side of your face, “okay,” he said in response.
Seungmin ran the tip of his dick along your slit, earning fresh juices from you.
Once he positioned himself at your entrance, he eased himself into you, you moaned at how good it feels to finally have him inside you.
You clenched around him the moment he bottomed out inside you, earned a few raw groans from him.
Seungmin lowered himself on top of you, laced his hand with yours at the side of your face. His kiss was so tender and careful as if you might break if he kissed you too hard.
He broke the kiss, leaving an inch between your lips,
“I love you,” he said against your lips, capturing you in a lingering kiss as he started thrusting into you at a painstakingly slow pace.

Seungmin tries to shout, but all that comes out in place of his voice is a hoarse, desperate whimper as he tears down the highway as fast as his legs will carry him. His throat clicks dryly when he swallows and he finds himself growing nauseous at the horrified panic that is beginning to settle in the pit of his stomach. He ignores it and presses on.
His limbs grow heavier with exhaustion at every pounding step he takes, but there's no time to pay the burning in his calves any mind as he wildly races over the decaying asphalt. His focus is fixated solely on his lover just up the road, who is ruthlessly cutting down a disgusting horde of revived corpses with an old axe.
Adrenaline courses through Seungmin's veins as he finally nears the cluster of the zombies swarming his partner. Without a second thought, he rips a pistol from his thigh holster to aim just as you catch sight of him with wide eyes. You duck with a gasp right before the sound of gunshots reverberate loudly through the air, leaving the gory skulls of three zombies pierced right through the center a breath later.
Seungmin grimaces at the remaining handful of cadavers dazedly turning to limp in his direction - set off by the noise, no doubt. Thankfully, you had taken care of most of them before he'd arrived, leaving the weakest of the horde for him to deal with.
Seungmin pays careful mind to you as he kills off the last threats, conscious of how much ammo he uses. When they all fall limp to the ground and no longer twitch with cognition, the two of you pause with bated breaths as you await another possible ambush.
A beat passes. Another, and another - nothing comes. Seungmin's shoulders sag in relief, and the overexertion suddenly slams into him like a truck now that the adrenaline is beginning to seep out of his veins. The realization is quickly wiped from his mind, however, when a warm, sweaty body collides into his own, completely encompassing his figure in a bone-crushing hug.
He feels the relieved sobs that drench the shoulder of his worn jacket before he hears them when you bury your face there, inhaling his musk. He's sure he doesn't smell pleasant, but Seungmin doesn't have the heart to push you away and make a stupid joke about what just happened. Nobody is promised tomorrow — every day spent on this earth, apocalyptic or not, is an austere reminder of that.
He's pulled away from the ceaseless ramble of his mind when you look up with a sniffle, eyes rimmed red with tear tracks adorning your cheeks. Seungmin gazes back in silence and softly rocks the two of you back and forth, his palms rubbing a soothing tempo into the dip of your shoulder blades. Neither of you speak; your actions are more a conversation than any words could be at the moment.
You clear your throat after a moment of simply taking in the slopes of his facial features, brushing away a stray lock of hair that drapes over your eyes. "That was close, yeah?" You murmur, stepping away on shaky legs. Seungmin doesn't comment on the way your words tremble and nods in lieu of response, adjusting his thigh holster as he eyes the horizon.
"The next city is about five miles out," he sighs with a grimace. A strong gust of wind threads through his hair, and you shiver beside him at the unbidden reminder of the dropping temperatures due to the approaching winter. Seungmin notices and easily shakes off his jacket without hesitation, pushing it into your chest as he ambles back whence he came.
"Let's get the car," he calls over his shoulder as he walks away. No pair of footsteps follow his own, so he assumes you’re simply standing to put on the jacket before walking. "I don't know if we'll have enough gas to make it in one trip, but it should be alr-”
A scream rips through the air and something primal flips instantaneously in Seungmin's brain. He whips around, pupils dilating in alarm, to find an undead plastered against your back with its rotten teeth sunken deep into the flesh of your neck.
Seungmin would've stood and balked if his instincts didn't kick in. Instead, he finds himself bolting back to you with his gun in hand once again. It takes him two seconds to aim and shoot, precisely killing the zombie they once believed to be dead.
But it's two seconds too long; the virus is swiftly spreading through your body. The infection is already becoming glaringly evident near the bite mark: your once beautiful complexion now grows deathly pale, and the skin surrounding the wound is beginning to raise and turn a harsh shade of purple. Seungmin feels the blood draining from his own face as he draws to a stop, panting in disbelief.
He's a few feet away when his arms fall limp at his sides, gun still in hand, leaving him to simply stare. There's nothing to do. You’re crying again, this time in silence. Seungmin distantly feels teardrops trickling down his own face, fat and hot and ugly, but he takes in the sensation from a place seated deep in his mind. It feels like he's watching the scene unfold through a windshield from the backseat of a car, where he's strapped into a seat and too fuzzy to properly move.
He blinks. The movement is slow, he notes. That's not right, though, because he's never slow. Everything feels muted and distant — this can't be real, right?
Seungmin shakily croaks out your name, frozen in place. His gun drops forgotten to the pavement below as he helplessly watches your body begin to twitch and the infection mark pulse. His heart squeezes painfully in his chest while his stomach drops somewhere far below the lowest depths of Hell.
You say something back, but your voice is too small to carry across the distance that yawns between you two. His breath stutters and he moves to step closer despite the danger. He just wants to hold you one last—
"SEUNGMIN! Dude, wake up?!"
Seungmin jolts upright with a gasp, gaze flying in a startled search around the room as his chest heaves. He kicks the covers off his legs and springs up, trying to ground himself with the familiar, suffocating stench of burnt wood that begins to overwhelm his nose. He's sweating, he realizes, as he leans against the wall and focuses on finding an even breathing pattern.
It takes him several moments to calm down, and once he comes back to himself he realizes you’re gently rubbing circles into the small of his back while whispering reassurance into the quiet of the room, sans your shared low breaths and the crackle of the fire.
Seungmin slumps to the floor with a fatigued groan, digging the heels of his palms into his eyes. You crouch down beside him and pat his arm in sympathy. "Nightmare?" You frown, moving to sit beside him.
A wave of nausea rolls over him at the reminder of what had him so worked up in the first place. "Yeah," he huffs as he drops his arms, lips pulling into a tight line as he mulls over how to explain the dream best.
"We were traveling like usual," Seungmin starts after a moment of collecting his thoughts. You sidle closer, attentive despite your weariness from your lack of sleep. It's currently your shift to keep watch, but Seungmin accidentally cut his rest time short all thanks to the absolutely wonderful dream he had. What a sick joke.
"For some reason we had been separated. When the dream started, I was running to you down an old highway. You were fighting off an entire horde by yourself, and I was nowhere to be found.
"When I finally make it over there, I help you take down the few that were left — we wait a bit, like usual, you know, to see if they're actually dead. Nothing moves after a while, so we hugged out of relief. You could’ve... died, you know?” He breathes, before shaking his head and continuing.
"You cried on me," he says, a faint smile tugging at his lips. This one, though, isn't one of glee. He goes on, "It's almost winter in this dream. There's a cold breeze, so I give you my jacket and I head back to the car which was where I came from.
"But as I'm walking, you don't follow," he says, fighting against the way his throat threatens to close up again. "I just assume you're putting on my jacket. But then you s-scream, and I turn and you're—”
He doesn't notice the tears clouding his vision until one falls, and he winces in humiliation. "Sorry, I know it's dumb, but it just felt so real and then you got bit and I watched you turn—"
"Hey, hey," You worriedly mumble, intertwining their fingers. You squeeze hard, and Seungmin welcomes the pain because it keeps him barely tethered to reality. You clamber into his lap, cupping his thin cheeks in your palms and swiping away the stray tear. "Min, I'm right here with you. I'm alive, okay? We're safe right now."
He wraps his arms around you, burying his face into your neck as more tears escape him and soak your skin. "Nobody's promised tomorrow," he gasps out between sobs, recalling how he thought the exact same in the nightmare.
He feels the way your frame slumps against his own, presumably at how devastated, how heartbroken, how lost your lover sounds. "I know," you can only whisper sadly as he continues to cry. "That just... it just means we should love each other like it's the last night we'll ever have, right? We s-should," you sniffle, your own tears building up, "cherish each moment together, even in this hellscape."
Seungmin only bawls harder. You fall silent after that and let him get it all out — it's not often you two have such solace in a space this soundproof and secure to stay in for the night, so now is a good opportunity to be free in volume. Neither of you are sure of when the chance will arise again.
When the brunt of his cries eventually quiet down into occasional hiccups, you push off of him and dab at your drenched neck with the hem of your ratty tee while passing him a canteen of water. He takes it gratefully and sips, careful of overconsumption; it's better to save it for more dire situations.
While he drinks, you find your seat beside him again. The two of you stay there side by side for a while, just admiring the flames as you both get lost in your respective thoughts. Seungmin is the first to break the silence after who knows how long.
"If the world hadn't ended, do you think we would've had a meet-cute or meet-ugly?"
The question prompts a giggle out of you as you cocks your head to face him. The melodious chime of it brings a grin to Seungmin's face, too, and he thinks — no, knows — it's a sound he'll never tire of.
“A meet-ugly for sure. I used to work at a café, so maybe you could’ve been a customer that I accidentally spilled hot coffee all over. Mm, yeah,” you say with a nod. “And then I would’ve been at a loss on what to do after that, so I’d try to make it up to you by buying you dinner?"
"That's awfully detailed," he snorts, and you smack his arm in playful reproach. "You put some thought into this?"
You roll your eyes, an exasperated smile tugging at your lips. “Duh. After ten years of wandering around an apocalyptic world together, your mind tends to think of everything as time passes.”
“Meh, meh, meh,” he mocks you playfully, just to ignore the mushy feeling forming in his chest. “Just say you’re in love with me at this point.”
You flip him off with a scoff, but scoot closer anyway to press your weight against him and rest your head on his shoulder. Now that he thinks about it, neither of you have ever actually spoken the words aloud. Like, ever. Which isn’t really a surprise — there’s no need to verbalize what’s between you two when it’s glaringly obvious in both of your actions already.
But something gnaws at Seungmin. The words itch in his throat, threatening to spill off his tongue now that the moment is so tender and the night is still. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, right? So why not do everything he’s capable of while he walks this earth?
“Hey, baby…”
You continues to stare at the fire, eyes beginning to droop as you give a quiet hm? in response. He can tell sleep is beginning to creep up on you, lulling you into a rare calm and drowsy state, but he doesn’t mind.
“I love you.”
You mumble something sleepily in reply. Seungmin is sure you heard him, but he’ll simply tell you again when you’re more lucid in the morning. And again, when the two of you pack up and continue the trek to whatever location is next. And again, he concludes, for the rest of his days.
After all, every day he wakes is truly a blessing, despite the wretched curse the world has fallen under. So, why not make the most of what time he has, right?

✉️𓂃 ࣪˖ i hate that this is so short but seungmin has been plaguingggg me so i just had to get smth out >< feedback is always appreciated!

Fuck, it’s hot.
You’re currently sprawled on your back beneath Seungmin, both of you panting and bare. His hips roll smoothly against yours, a sensation that completely opposes the way he’s harshly fucking you into the sheets, shifting you up the bed with every thrust. Humiliating noise after noise gets pushed out of your chest as his pace begins to grow faster, rougher.
You can hardly move your legs at this point. The two of you’d already gone two rounds before this: once on the couch, once in the shower, and now on the bed. If your brain hadn’t been screwed out long before the second round, you would’ve had half the mind to realize you’ve been fucking like rabbits lately. All you can focus on now, though, is trying your best not to claw his back into ribbons.
“Ah, you’re still s-so tight around me— fuck, baby, feels divine,” he grunts, his voice low and slightly deterred by his heaving breaths. You can only whine in response, arching your hips up in a desperate search for more friction against your clit.
“Min, harder,” you brokenly beg, and who is he but to acquiesce to the woman he loves?
Miraculously, he manages to pound into you even rougher than before, and the increased pace makes his cock feel so deep that you’re dazedly wondering if Seungmin is reaching your ribcage from within.
He pauses to shuffle a bit, allowing you to momentarily regain some coherency as he adjusts to prevent a cramp in his leg, before promptly picking up where he left off. The new angle digs right into that sweet, soft spot tucked away in your walls and it sends stars blooming in your vision as you wail at the onslaught of pleasure.
Seungmin notices the change in pitch of your cries and smirks devilishly, sweat dripping down his temples and trailing over his clenched jawline. “Feelin’ good, doll?” He drawls, punctuating the petname with a slap to one of your breasts. You jolt at the pain that stings oh-so-deliciously and he grunts at how tight you clench around him.
“Fuck, you’re squeezing me so damn tight—” His thrusts begin to grow erratic, and the once concentrated rhythm of his thighs slapping against the back of your own loses its tempo. His legs begin to shake as his orgasm nears, lower stomach wildly spasming and contracting as he chases his high.
Your eyes are too watery to see how flushed his bare chest is from the exertion, leaving you to only claw at the sheets while tears begin to trickle down your face. He brings a shaky thumb to your clit and you positively wail, thrashing beneath him at the overwhelming stimulation.
“This cock so good it’s got you all dumb and s-stupid, huh?” When you clench and nod harshly in agreement, too gone for words, he whines and falls forward to bury his face in your neck as his hips buck wildly and stutter. “Shit, fuck, coming baby- coming—!”
His thumb is relentless on your sensitive nub, even throughout his dizzying release, and your mind fully blanks out when you come just as you feel his hot seed spill into your constricting walls. He gasps as your orgasm rips through your body, tightly locking every limb while he coaxes you through your peak with gentle thrusts despite the overstimulation it brings.
When you finally flutter down from the high, you realize Seungmin is still inside of you despite having gone soft. He’s peppering light kisses into your neck, murmuring quiet praise as the two of you bask in the afterglow, catching your breaths. You try to wrap your sweaty arms around his neck, but it seems your limbs have gone to goo and they disgracefully flop back to your sides.
“You back with me?” Seungmin hums into your skin, lips pausing from their delicate ministrations as he settles to lay atop you. You grunt at the added weight, poking at his side with a shaky hand. “Yeah, now get off me,” you sniff with playful disdain, wiggling in protest beneath him. “You reek and we need to clean up.”
He pulls back to prop himself up, veiny forearms bulging on either side of your head as he cocks the brow with a slit at you. “Clean up?” He muses, a wicked grin sprawling over his features. Oh, no.
You feel him twitch within you and you swallow; his refractory period is definitely not one to scoff at. His cock twitches within once more as you poorly suppress a whimper, and it begins to properly chub up when you start to squirm. He chuckles and takes hold of your chin, enforcing eye contact that sizzles with tension.
“We’re just getting started, baby.”

KIM SEUNGMIN X FEM! READER 𐙚₊˚⊹

a/n: pure fluff <33
syn: you and seungmin have been seeing eachother for some months. you were friends, yes, but you had feelings for him. ofc he didn’t like you back, did he..?
ᡣ𐭩
You had always wondered what it would feel like to be in love with someone who didn’t love you back. The kind of ache people wrote about in songs, or spilled into poems. You never thought it would feel quite like this, though—a slow burn in your chest that grew heavier every time Seungmin crossed your mind.
And Seungmin was always on your mind.
Your crush on him had been obvious for months, and although he was sweet, charming, and funny, he never made it clear if he felt the same way. You’d catch him staring at you sometimes, but he’d always look away, expression unreadable. You tried dropping hints, but Seungmin was impossible to figure out. After a while, you convinced yourself that he just didn’t like you the way you liked him. If he did, he would’ve said something by now, right?
Which is why you were sitting in a cafe right now with Jisoo. He was nice. Easy-going, and he’d made it clear early on that he liked you. So you thought, maybe if you gave someone else a chance, you could get over Seungmin. Maybe Jisoo could be the person to help you move on.
Your phone buzzed on the table, and you glanced down, unlocking it to see the message.
Seungmin:
Where are you?
read 18:40
You bit your lip, glancing up at Jisoo, who was rambling on about his plans for the weekend. He didn’t seem to notice that you were distracted.
You:
Out with a friend. Why?
read 18:42
There was a long pause. You could see the three dots blinking at the bottom of the screen, then disappearing, and then blinking again. Finally, his reply came.
Seungmin:
Never mind.
read 18:51
You frowned at the message. What was that about? For some reason, your heart skipped a beat, but you quickly shoved your phone back into your bag, determined to focus on Jisoo. This was good. It was a step in the right direction.
But that lingering feeling in your chest didn’t go away.
The next few days were strange.
Seungmin was everywhere, as usual—at mutual gatherings, in your group chat, sending memes to everyone except you. But there was something off. He wasn’t talking to you like he normally did, barely even acknowledging your existence. Every time you entered the room, he found an excuse to leave. When you tried to talk to him, he’d give one-word answers or act like he hadn’t heard you.
It stung.
By the third day, you were sure something was seriously wrong. Seungmin never ignored you like this before. Had you done something wrong? Said something that pissed him off?
Your phone buzzed again. It was a message from Jisoo, asking you to hang out tomorrow. You sighed, scrolling through your chat history with Seungmin, hoping to find a clue as to why he was acting this way.
But there was nothing.
Frustrated, you typed out a message to him, your fingers trembling slightly.
You:
Hey. Are you mad at me or something? You’ve been ignoring me for days. Did I do something?
seen 10:37
You stared at the screen, waiting for the three dots to appear. Nothing. Seungmin had seen your message, but there was no response.
Your heart sank. You tried to convince yourself that you didn’t care, but the truth was, you did. More than you wanted to admit.
That night, it rained. Hard.
You sat in your living room, the sound of raindrops pelting against the window almost soothing. The TV was on, but you weren’t paying attention, your mind too preoccupied with thoughts of Seungmin.
Your phone vibrated on the couch beside you, and for a moment, you thought it was Jisoo. But when you glanced at the screen, your heart stopped.
Seungmin:
We need to talk. Now.
seen 21:50
You blinked at the message, not sure how to respond.
You:
Okay? About what?
seen 21:51
This time, the response was immediate.
Seungmin:
About you. And Jisoo.
seen 21:51
Your chest tightened. Why would Seungmin care about that? Did he…? No. He couldn’t possibly—
A knock at the door interrupted your thoughts. Startled, you jumped up from the couch, heart racing. You weren’t expecting anyone.
But when you opened the door, there he was—Seungmin, soaked to the bone, his hair plastered to his forehead, water dripping from the edges of his jacket.
“Seungmin?” you gasped, eyes wide. “What are you doing here? You’re soaking wet!”
He ignored your concern, stepping inside without invitation. His dark eyes bore into yours, and for the first time in days, he wasn’t avoiding you. No, he was looking right at you, as if he’d been holding something in for too long and couldn’t take it anymore.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked, his voice tight with frustration.
You blinked, confused. “Tell you what?”
“About Jisoo,” he spat out, like the name itself was poison on his tongue.
You stared at him, speechless. “What… What does Jisoo have to do with anything?”
Seungmin’s jaw clenched, and he ran a hand through his wet hair, his chest heaving. “Everything! How long have you been seeing him?”
His words hit you like a punch to the gut. He knew? How did he even—?
“That’s none of your business, Seungmin!” you shot back, feeling a surge of anger. “Why do you care?”
“Why do I care?” Seungmin laughed, but there was no humor in it. Just bitterness. “Because you’re seeing someone else. Because I thought you were—fuck, I don’t even know what I thought. But I didn’t think you’d just go off and start dating someone else.”
“You never said anything!” you shouted, tears pricking at the corners of your eyes. “You never showed any sign that you liked me, Seungmin. I’ve been waiting for months, hoping you’d do something, but you didn’t! So I moved on.”
Seungmin stared at you, his chest rising and falling rapidly. The rain was still pouring outside, thunder rumbling in the distance, but the storm inside your apartment was far worse.
“You don’t get it, do you?” Seungmin whispered, taking a step closer to you. “I liked you, Y/N. I liked you so much that it scared the shit out of me. But I didn’t want to ruin anything between us, so I held back.”
Your breath caught in your throat. He… liked you? This whole time?
“I thought you didn’t like me,” you said, your voice breaking. “You never showed it.”
“I thought I had time,” Seungmin admitted, his voice low. “I thought if I waited long enough, I’d figure out how to tell you. But when I found out about Jisoo… I realized I didn’t have time. You’re slipping away from me.”
You stood frozen, your heart racing as the weight of his words settled in. You weren’t sure how to process any of this.
“I was trying to get over you,” you whispered, not trusting your voice to be any louder.
Seungmin took another step forward, so close now that you could see the raindrops clinging to his lashes. “And now?”
You swallowed hard, your gaze flickering down to his lips before meeting his eyes again. “Now… I don’t know.”
Seungmin’s expression softened, and his hand reached out, gently cupping your cheek. The warmth of his palm against your skin sent a shiver down your spine, and your heart pounded so loudly in your chest you were sure he could hear it.
“Tell me to leave, and I will,” Seungmin murmured, his thumb brushing against your cheekbone. “Tell me to walk away, and I won’t bother you again.”
You opened your mouth, but no words came out. Instead, you found yourself leaning into his touch, your eyes fluttering shut for just a moment.
That was all Seungmin needed.
He closed the distance between you, his lips crashing against yours with an urgency that took your breath away. His hands were in your hair, pulling you closer, and you melted into him, your fingers clutching the fabric of his wet jacket.
The kiss was desperate, like he was making up for all the time he’d lost. And in that moment, everything else faded away—the rain, Jisoo, the doubts that had plagued you for so long. It was just you and Seungmin, tangled up in each other, finally giving in to what had been building between you for months.
When you finally broke apart, gasping for air, Seungmin rested his forehead against yours, his breath ragged.
“Fuck, I missed you,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “I’ve been an idiot, haven’t I?”
You let out a shaky laugh, still catching your breath. “Yeah. You have.”
Seungmin pulled back slightly, his gaze searching yours. “So… where do we go from here?”
You hesitated for a moment, then smiled, your heart swelling with a warmth you hadn’t felt in a long time. “We figure it out. Together.”
Seungmin grinned, his dimples making your heart do a somersault. “Together, huh?”
You nodded, biting your lip.

Not saying “I love you” back
BangChan 방찬
You had always known there was something special about Chan. From the moment you met him, you’d been drawn to his warmth, his leadership, and the quiet strength he carried beneath his relaxed exterior. After years of being friends, things had naturally evolved between the two of you, and for the past three months, you had been navigating the waters of a new relationship. It was exciting and comfortable all at once, but there were moments where the gravity of your feelings for him weighed on you.
That evening, as the sun dipped low on the horizon, Chan had taken you out for a walk on the beach. The air was crisp, the smell of salt and sea all around as your footsteps crunched in the sand. His hand was warm in yours, and you felt the familiar comfort of his presence beside you, his thumb absently brushing over your knuckles. It was a perfect evening, the type of easy night you had always enjoyed with him.
But there was something different about tonight—something in the way he kept glancing at you when he thought you weren’t looking, his dark eyes filled with an emotion you couldn’t quite place.
“So,” he started, his voice light but with an undertone of nervousness. “How’s your week been?”
You gave him a sidelong look, trying to figure out what was on his mind. “Same as usual, I guess. Work’s been busy, but it’s nice to unwind with you.”
He smiled, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. You could feel something brewing beneath the surface, a tension that made your heart beat just a little faster. You didn’t want to pry, but at the same time, you wanted to understand what was going on in his head.
As the conversation lulled, you both found yourselves standing near the water’s edge, the waves gently lapping at your feet. The sun had nearly set by now, casting a golden glow over everything, making the moment feel almost magical. You were about to make a comment about the beautiful view when Chan suddenly turned to face you fully.
“I love you.”
The words hit you like a tidal wave, knocking the breath out of you. Your eyes widened, and for a moment, time seemed to stop. He said it so simply, yet the weight of those three words hung in the air between you, filling the space with an intensity that made your heart race. You could see it in his eyes, the vulnerability, the raw emotion he had been keeping inside, waiting for the right moment to spill it out.
But you weren’t ready.
It wasn’t that you didn’t care for him. You did. More than anything. But the idea of saying those words back felt… overwhelming. Like they carried too much meaning, too much commitment, and you weren’t sure if you were there yet. Your mind raced, trying to process what he had just said, trying to figure out how to respond.
Chan’s expression faltered as the seconds dragged on, the silence between you growing heavier. His brows knit together, and though he tried to smile, you could see the sadness creeping into his eyes.
“It’s okay,” he said quickly, taking a step back, his hand dropping from yours. “You don’t have to say it back. I just… I wanted you to know how I feel.”
His voice was soft, almost breaking at the end. You could see the hurt in him, the disappointment he was trying so hard to hide behind his understanding words. Your chest tightened with guilt. The last thing you wanted was to make him feel like this. You opened your mouth to say something, anything, but the words just wouldn’t come.
“I’ll keep saying it,” he added after a moment, his eyes dropping to the sand at your feet. “Until you’re ready. It’s okay, really.”
You stood there, frozen, watching him as he forced another smile, though his eyes betrayed him. He was hurt. And it was your fault. But what could you say? What could you do? You felt torn between the desire to comfort him and your own uncertainty, your own fear.
The rest of the evening passed in a blur. Chan tried to keep the conversation light, but the air between you had shifted, and no matter how much you both tried to pretend like nothing had changed, it had. He dropped you off at your apartment later that night, giving you a soft, lingering kiss on the forehead before heading home. And as you watched him walk away, your heart ached with the weight of what had just happened.
The next few days were hard. You texted and called Chan like usual, but there was something different about the way he responded. He was still sweet, still caring, but there was a distance now that hadn’t been there before. It killed you to think that you had caused this. That your hesitation had hurt him in a way you weren’t sure you could fix.
But the truth was, you couldn’t stop thinking about what he had said. About how much he meant to you. And slowly, you began to realize that maybe you did feel the same. Maybe you had been ready all along, but had been too scared to admit it to yourself.
A week later, you found yourself standing outside Chan’s apartment. You hadn’t told him you were coming, but you couldn’t wait any longer. You had to tell him. You had to make this right.
When he opened the door and saw you standing there, surprise flashed across his face, followed by a cautious smile.
“Hey,” he greeted softly, stepping aside to let you in. “Everything okay?”
You nodded, your heart pounding in your chest as you stepped inside. Chan closed the door behind you and turned to face you, his expression wary, like he was bracing himself for something.
“I’ve been thinking,” you started, your voice a little shaky. “About what you said the other night.”
His smile faltered slightly, but he nodded, staying quiet as he waited for you to continue.
“I… I’ve been scared,” you admitted, feeling your throat tighten with emotion. “But it’s not because I don’t care about you. I care about you more than I’ve ever cared about anyone, and I think that’s what scared me.”
Chan’s eyes softened as he listened, his shoulders relaxing just a little.
“And I realized,” you continued, taking a deep breath, “that I’ve been running away from how I really feel. Because the truth is, I love you too.”
The words came out in a rush, but the moment they were out there, you felt a weight lift off your chest. Chan’s eyes widened in shock, his breath catching as he stared at you, completely taken off guard.
“You… you do?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
You nodded, tears welling up in your eyes. “I love you, Chan. I’ve always loved you. I just… I wasn’t ready to admit it to myself.”
For a moment, he just stood there, frozen, as if he couldn’t quite believe what he was hearing. Then, before you could say another word, he crossed the room in two long strides and pulled you into his arms, his lips crashing against yours in a kiss so full of passion and relief that it made your head spin.
When he finally pulled back, his forehead resting against yours, he let out a soft, breathless laugh. “You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to hear that.”
You smiled, your heart swelling with warmth as you gazed up at him. “I’m sorry it took me so long.”
He shook his head, brushing a strand of hair away from your face. “It doesn’t matter now. All that matters is that you’re here, and that you feel the same.”
“I do,” you whispered, your fingers tangling in the fabric of his shirt as you leaned up to kiss him again. “I love you, Chan.”
And this time, when you said it, there was no hesitation. No fear. Only the certainty that this was exactly where you were meant to be.
Changbin 창빈
The relationship with Changbin had always been filled with laughter, teasing, and the kind of deep connection that came from being friends for so long. You’d known him for years, navigating the ups and downs of life with him by your side, and then, three months ago, things had shifted. It hadn’t come as a shock to either of you, really. It was like something that was always supposed to happen, something inevitable, as though your connection had just been waiting to evolve into something more.
Dating him was easy—so easy that sometimes you forgot there were unspoken expectations simmering beneath the surface. The two of you had fallen into a rhythm, the line between best friends and partners blurring so seamlessly that you almost didn’t notice. Almost.
It wasn’t until that night that you realized just how deep his feelings for you went.
You had spent the day together like you often did, running errands, grabbing food, and just enjoying each other’s company. The sun had set by the time you arrived back at his place, the cozy apartment that had become as familiar to you as your own. It had been a long day, and you were both eager to relax.
Changbin, ever the affectionate one, had pulled you into his arms the moment you’d kicked off your shoes. His strong arms wrapped around your waist as he nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck, making you laugh as his breath tickled your skin.
“Did you miss me already?” you teased, even though you’d been together all day.
“I always miss you,” he mumbled against your skin, his voice low and warm, sending shivers down your spine.
You playfully swatted at him, stepping away to grab a drink from the fridge. “Come on, you can’t be that clingy.”
“Watch me,” he shot back with a grin, plopping himself down on the couch and patting the spot next to him. “You know you love it.”
And the truth was, you did. You loved the way he always found a reason to touch you, whether it was holding your hand, resting his arm around your shoulders, or pulling you into his chest. It made you feel cherished, like he couldn’t stand being away from you for even a second. It was one of the things that made being with Changbin so natural, so effortless.
The evening passed in comfortable familiarity. You both settled on the couch, a random movie playing in the background as you leaned against him, your head resting on his shoulder. It wasn’t until halfway through the movie, when you turned to make a comment about a particularly cheesy scene, that you noticed the way he was watching you.
His eyes were soft, his expression serious in a way that caught you off guard. You blinked, momentarily forgetting what you were going to say as the weight of his gaze settled on you.
“Changbin?” you asked, tilting your head slightly. “What’s up?”
For a moment, he didn’t say anything. He just looked at you, like he was trying to commit every detail of your face to memory, as though he was trying to find the right words.
Then, with a deep breath, he said it.
“I love you.”
The words hung in the air between you, heavy and full of meaning. Your heart skipped a beat, your stomach twisting in surprise. You hadn’t been expecting him to say it, not yet. Not like this.
Changbin had always been the confident one, the one who wasn’t afraid to show his feelings. But there was something different about the way he said it this time. His usual teasing tone was gone, replaced by something softer, more vulnerable. His dark eyes searched your face, waiting for your reaction.
You opened your mouth, but no words came out. You wanted to say something, to tell him how much you cared about him, but the words felt trapped in your throat. It wasn’t that you didn’t feel something for him—of course you did. Changbin meant the world to you. But saying those three words back… it was a big step, and you weren’t sure if you were ready for that yet.
The silence stretched on, and you could see the way his smile faltered just a little. He tried to play it off, a small grin tugging at the corners of his mouth, but you could see the flicker of disappointment in his eyes.
“It’s okay,” he said, his voice gentle, though there was a hint of sadness in it. “You don’t have to say it back if you’re not ready. I just… I wanted you to know how I feel.”
Your heart clenched at the sight of him trying so hard to keep his usual smile, even though you could see the hurt behind his eyes. You hated that you’d caused that, that your hesitation had wiped the joy from his face. But what could you say? The words just wouldn’t come.
“I mean it,” he added, his voice soft but steady. “I love you, Y/N. But it’s okay if you’re not there yet. I’m not going anywhere.”
He reached out and brushed a strand of hair behind your ear, his touch gentle, his smile a little sad but still genuine. And that, more than anything, made your chest tighten with guilt. He was always so understanding, so patient, but you could see the way he was holding back his own disappointment for your sake.
For the rest of the evening, you tried to act like nothing had changed. Changbin, true to form, didn’t push you. He went right back to his usual teasing, making jokes and pretending like everything was fine, but you could feel the subtle shift between you. There was an unspoken tension now, a quiet sadness lurking beneath his bright smile. And you knew it was because of you.
When he dropped you off at your apartment that night, he pulled you into a tight hug, holding you just a little longer than usual. His lips brushed your forehead in a soft kiss before he pulled back, giving you one last smile before heading home.
And as you watched him leave, your heart ached with the weight of everything left unsaid.
Over the next few days, Changbin didn’t bring it up again. He was still his usual, affectionate self, still texting and calling you like always, but there was a distance now. It was subtle, but you felt it. The way he hesitated just a little before kissing you, the way his hand sometimes dropped from yours when you least expected it. And you knew it was because he was waiting for you to be ready. Waiting for you to say those three words back.
Over the next few days, you couldn’t stop thinking about Changbin’s confession. The words replayed in your mind constantly, and each time, you felt the weight of your unspoken response pressing down on you. He had been nothing but patient, never bringing it up again, but you could tell that he was still waiting, still hoping for the moment when you’d be ready to say it back.
And now, as you sat in your apartment, staring at your phone, you realized that you were ready. You loved him. You had known it for a while, just like he had, and you were done letting fear hold you back.
Without thinking twice, you grabbed your coat and rushed out of your apartment, heading straight to Changbin’s place. Your heart pounded in your chest the entire way, the anticipation building with each step. You needed to tell him. You couldn’t wait any longer.
When you finally arrived at his door, you knocked, your hands trembling slightly as you waited for him to open it. It took only a few seconds before the door swung open, revealing Changbin standing there, his eyes widening in surprise when he saw you.
“Y/N?” he asked, his voice filled with confusion. “What are you doing here?”
You didn’t waste any time. Before he could say anything else, you stepped forward, wrapping your arms around him and pulling him into a tight hug. He froze for a moment, clearly taken aback by your sudden embrace, but then his arms wrapped around you, holding you just as tightly.
“I love you,” you whispered into his chest, your voice trembling with emotion. “I love you, Changbin.”
For a moment, there was complete silence. You could feel his heartbeat against your cheek, the rise and fall of his chest as he processed your words. And then, all at once, he pulled back, his eyes wide with shock.
“You… what?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
You smiled up at him, your heart swelling with affection. “I love you,” you repeated, this time with more confidence. “I’ve felt it for a long time, and I’m sorry it took me so long to say it. But I mean it.”
Changbin stared at you for a moment, his expression unreadable. And then, suddenly, a grin spread across his face, so bright and full of joy that it made your heart skip a beat. He let out a loud laugh, his arms tightening around you as he lifted you off the ground, spinning you around in a circle.
“You love me!” he exclaimed, his voice filled with pure happiness. “You actually love me!”
You laughed along with him, feeling lighter than you had in days. When he finally set you down, his hands cupped your face, and he leaned in, pressing his lips to yours in a kiss that was full of passion and excitement. It was a kiss that said everything that words couldn’t, a kiss that made you feel like you were the only two people in the world.
When he finally pulled away, his forehead rested against yours, and he grinned down at you, his eyes shining with happiness.
“I’ve been waiting for so long to hear you say that,” he admitted, his voice soft but full of emotion.
You smiled up at him, your heart overflowing with love. “I’m sorry I made you wait.”
He shook his head, his thumb brushing lightly against your cheek. “It was worth the wait.”
And in that moment, you knew that everything was exactly as it should be. You were in Changbin’s arms, and you had finally found the courage to say the words that had been on your heart for so long. And now, as he held you close, you knew that this was just the beginning of something beautiful.
Seungmin 승민
Seungmin’s Story:
Seungmin had always been quiet, reserved, with a dry sense of humor that only those close to him got to experience. That’s what had initially drawn you to him. There was a sharp wit beneath his soft, polite demeanor, and the more time you spent with him, the more you came to appreciate how deeply he cared for those around him. For months, the two of you had danced around your feelings, and after being friends for so long, it seemed natural that your relationship would evolve.
Now, after three months of officially being together, things felt steady, comfortable. Seungmin was not the type to wear his heart on his sleeve, but in the quiet moments when it was just the two of you, he would let his guard down, showing you sides of himself that no one else got to see. It was in those moments that you felt the closest to him, like you were the only person who really understood him.
Tonight was no different. The two of you were sprawled out on his couch, a cozy blanket draped over your legs as you watched a movie. It was late, the city quiet outside his window, and the only sound in the apartment was the soft hum of the television. You’d spent the day together, wandering around the city, grabbing coffee, and just enjoying each other’s company. It was the kind of day that made you feel content, at peace.
Seungmin had been a little quieter than usual that night, his dark eyes occasionally flickering toward you as though he wanted to say something but kept holding back. You had noticed it, but you didn’t want to push him. With Seungmin, things always happened in their own time. He was thoughtful, careful with his words, and you knew that when he was ready, he would speak.
As the credits rolled on the movie, Seungmin shifted beside you, sitting up a little straighter. His hand was resting on your knee, his fingers idly tracing small patterns on your leg. You turned to him, giving him a soft smile, but the serious look in his eyes made your heart skip a beat. Something was different.
“What’s on your mind?” you asked quietly, your voice cutting through the stillness of the room.
He hesitated, his gaze dropping to his lap for a moment before meeting your eyes again. There was something vulnerable in the way he was looking at you, something that made your chest tighten with anticipation.
“I’ve been thinking,” he began, his voice soft, almost hesitant. “About us.”
Your heart started to race at his words. You weren’t sure where this was going, but the serious tone in his voice made you nervous. You shifted slightly under the blanket, waiting for him to continue.
“I’m not good at saying these kinds of things,” he admitted, his hand still gently resting on your knee. “But I feel like… it’s important that you know.”
You could see the struggle in his expression, the way he was carefully choosing his words. Seungmin had always been careful with his emotions, never one to express them openly unless he truly meant it. And that’s what made this moment feel so significant. Whatever he was about to say, it was going to be real. Honest.
He took a deep breath, his eyes locking with yours. “I love you.”
The words came out in a quiet whisper, barely audible above the soft hum of the television, but they landed heavily between you. Your eyes widened in surprise, your heart pounding in your chest. Seungmin didn’t say things like this lightly. He wasn’t the type to throw around words like “love” without meaning them, and you knew that.
For a moment, you were frozen. The weight of his confession hung in the air, filling the room with a quiet intensity. You could see the way his hands tensed slightly, his eyes searching your face for a reaction. He had just made himself vulnerable in a way he rarely ever did, and now he was waiting for you to respond.
But you weren’t ready.
It wasn’t that you didn’t care about him. You did. Deeply. But the idea of saying those three words back… it felt too soon. Like once you said them, there would be no going back, and you weren’t sure if you were ready for that level of commitment.
Seungmin’s eyes flickered with the slightest hint of uncertainty as the silence stretched on. You could see the tension in his shoulders, the way his usually calm demeanor had given way to something more vulnerable, more unsure. He was waiting for you to say something, anything, but the words felt stuck in your throat.
You opened your mouth, but nothing came out. Your heart ached because you didn’t want to hurt him. The last thing you wanted was to make him feel like his feelings weren’t reciprocated, but you weren’t sure what to say.
“It’s okay,” he whispered after a moment, his voice soft and reassuring. “You don’t have to say it back. I just… I wanted you to know how I feel.”
There was a quiet sadness in his voice, but his expression remained calm, his hand gently squeezing your knee as if to let you know that it was truly okay. He wasn’t angry. He wasn’t upset. He just looked at you with those deep, understanding eyes, and you felt your heart breaking a little more because he was always so patient, so kind.
The rest of the evening passed in a comfortable silence. Seungmin didn’t bring it up again, and you tried to push away the guilt that lingered in the back of your mind. But you couldn’t stop thinking about it—about him. About how much he meant to you. And as the days went on, the weight of those unsaid words began to gnaw at you.
A week later, you found yourself sitting in your apartment, thinking about that moment. Thinking about Seungmin, and how much he had come to mean to you over the years. The truth was, you did love him. You had been in love with him for a long time, but the fear of saying it out loud had kept you from acknowledging it.
But now, after days of thinking about it, you couldn’t ignore the truth any longer. You did love him. You loved the way he always made you laugh with his dry humor, the way he was so considerate and thoughtful, and how he always seemed to understand you even when you couldn’t find the right words. Seungmin had been by your side through everything, and the idea of not saying it back, of leaving him in uncertainty, was starting to feel unbearable.
You knew what you had to do.
That evening, you found yourself standing outside Seungmin’s apartment, your heart pounding in your chest. The cool night air brushed against your skin, and you shifted nervously as you raised your hand to knock. Your mind raced with everything you wanted to say, and a small part of you wondered if it was too late, if maybe you had waited too long.
The door opened, and there he was. Seungmin stood in the doorway, his expression softening as soon as he saw you. He stepped aside to let you in without hesitation, his usual calm demeanor putting you at ease. You walked into the familiar space, the cozy warmth of his apartment wrapping around you like a comforting embrace.
“Hey,” he greeted you quietly, his voice gentle. “I wasn’t expecting you.”
You gave him a small smile, your heart still racing. “I just… I needed to talk to you.”
He raised an eyebrow, concern flickering in his eyes as he motioned for you to sit down on the couch. You followed him, sitting on the edge of the cushion while he settled beside you, his body angled toward you, waiting patiently for you to speak.
There was a long moment of silence as you gathered your thoughts, your fingers nervously fidgeting with the hem of your shirt. You could feel Seungmin’s eyes on you, watching, waiting, but he didn’t say a word. He was giving you the time you needed, just like always.
Finally, you took a deep breath and turned to face him, your voice barely above a whisper.
“I’ve been thinking about what you said,” you began, your words slow and careful. “About… about how you feel.”
Seungmin’s expression didn’t change, but you could see the way his posture stiffened slightly, the way his eyes searched your face for any sign of what you were about to say. You swallowed hard, your heart pounding in your chest as you continued.
“And I just… I wanted you to know that I love you, too.”
The words tumbled out of your mouth before you could stop them, and for a moment, the room was filled with a heavy silence. You couldn’t breathe, your entire body frozen as you waited for his reaction. You had finally said it—the words you had been so afraid to speak. And now, all you could do was wait.
Seungmin blinked, his eyes widening slightly in surprise. For a moment, he didn’t say anything, and you could feel your anxiety rising with each passing second. Had you waited too long? Had you hurt him too much by not saying it back earlier?
But then, slowly, a soft smile spread across his face, and his eyes softened in a way that made your heart melt. He looked at you like you were the only person in the world, his gaze full of warmth and affection.
“You…” He paused, his voice barely a whisper as he processed your words. “You really mean it?”
You nodded, your own smile starting to form as relief flooded your chest. “I do. I really do.”
For a moment, Seungmin just stared at you, his expression a mixture of disbelief and happiness. Then, without warning, he leaned forward, closing the distance between you and pressing his lips to yours in a gentle, almost tentative kiss. It wasn’t hurried or rushed—it was soft, filled with all the emotions he had been holding back since the day he first told you how he felt.
You kissed him back, your hands reaching up to cup his face as you leaned into him. His lips were warm and soft against yours, and you could feel the quiet intensity of his love in every movement. It was as if the kiss was a promise, a silent confirmation that you both felt the same way, that you had finally reached the place you were both meant to be.
When he finally pulled away, his forehead rested gently against yours, his breath warm against your skin. His eyes were still closed, as if he was savoring the moment, and when he opened them, they were filled with so much love that it made your chest ache.
“I didn’t expect you to say it back,” he admitted quietly, his voice thick with emotion. “Not so soon.”
You smiled, your thumb brushing lightly against his cheek. “I’ve felt it for a long time, Seungmin. I was just scared to say it.”
He nodded, his fingers gently trailing down your arm. “I understand. I just wanted you to know how I felt… I didn’t want to pressure you.”
“And you didn’t,” you assured him, your voice soft but firm. “You’ve been so patient, and I’m sorry I made you wait.”
Seungmin shook his head, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “It was worth the wait.”
You laughed softly, your heart feeling lighter than it had in days. There was a sense of peace between you now, a quiet understanding that didn’t need words. You had said what needed to be said, and now, you could finally relax, knowing that you were both on the same page.
Seungmin leaned in again, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead before pulling you into his arms. You rested your head against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart as his arms wrapped around you, holding you close.
“I love you,” he whispered again, his voice barely audible but filled with so much emotion that it made your heart swell.
This time, you didn’t hesitate.
“I love you, too.”
And in that moment, everything felt right. You were exactly where you were meant to be—in Seungmin’s arms, wrapped in the warmth of his love, finally unafraid to speak the words that had once felt so daunting. The fear, the hesitation, the uncertainty—it all melted away, leaving only the quiet certainty that you were in this together.
And you knew, without a doubt, that this was just the beginning.
heyyy, can I suggest a plot that's been in my mind for a while? They are in a new relashionship (like 3 months) (but they've been friends for a while) and he says "I love you" first, and reader is like frozen and don't know how to react, because she likes him a lot but she's not ready to say "i love you" yet... but he doesn't get mad, he's like "it's ok, I'll keep saying it until you're ready, just wanted to let u know" and then eventually she says I love you back. I thought of this with Chan...or Changbin... or maybe Seungmin? But I don't know, it's ur call lol
bye 😆💓
ofc!!! ill work on it tomorrow!!

“You–You don’t have to do this, serious–Oh, God…”
You swallowed, focusing on your best friend’s face. Focusing a bit too much on the vein that popped on his neck when he threw his head back, on how pretty his eyelashes looked when his eyes fluttered shut, on those pouty lips of his you totally didn’t wish you could have on yours… All while trying to ignore what you had between your hands, all while trying to ignore the obscene, squelching sounds their continuous movement produced…
“I said I’d help you, didn’t I, Seungmin?”
Seungmin inhaled deeply. His ears twitched, his tail seemed to have a life of its own, it had started thumping against the headboard of the bed the moment he’d sat down and you’d taken a hold of him.
After opening his eyes again, Seungmin looked at your face, and you saw his Adam’s apple bob when he swallowed. “You did”.
“And I always keep my word, don’t I?” You twisted your wrists, never stopping the motions of your hands.
Seungmin sighed, and some of the tension in his shoulders seemed to evaporate with the motion. “You do…”
A spark of doubt flared in your mind, large enough it was impossible to ignore. Your hands stopped, and the tiniest whine left Seungmin’s mouth. “Unless you… Are you feeling uncomfortable? I can– I can stop”.
Seungmin’s hands flew to your wrists, preventing you from pulling away completely. “No. No, no, please, don’t… I… Fuck, I really want this. I really, really need this”.
You would’ve never expected the afternoon to take you here… To your best friend’s bedroom, to him sitting on his bed, with his back against the headboard, and with his legs spread. You would’ve never expected to have his cock in your hands, barely even out of his lounge shorts. In your mind, this had never been a real, genuine possibility. Yet here you were.
How long had it been since you realised you had a crush on your best friend? Too long, probably. It might’ve been a bit embarrassing, but you truly couldn’t even remember a time when you weren’t pining over him, a time when you weren’t thinking how it would be like to be with him physically, intimately…
Although, to be fair, this situation was far more sterile than all those fantasies you’d allowed your mind to wander into only in the wee hours of the night. It wasn’t as if Seungmin had confessed his feelings for you, or you to him. It was more like… like you were giving your friend a hand–literally and figuratively.
Seungmin was a hybrid. A black labrador hybrid, to be exact. He’d been your best friend since you were a kid, when the school you attended finally started allowing hybrids as students. You could still remember the first day you saw him, standing in a corner by the lockers. You’d approached him, mostly because your mother had taught you that hybrids must be treated well, just like you’d treat anyone else.
He was a shy boy, totally out of character for a lab hybrid, but the more you got to know him, the more he warmed up to you, the more you started to see that bright personality of his. As soon as he’d deemed you trustworthy, it was almost like that shyness had never been there in the first place.
He started to come over to your place to hang out or do homework, to open up about his life, and even to show more of his mischievous side. He’d call you everything from dumb dumb, to human kiddo, to little human, just because he could. But it was fine.
Even if at the beginning it annoyed you that he simply wouldn’t call you by your name, it eventually became such a Seungmin thing to do, you just couldn’t find it in you to be mad at him when his eyes sparkled so brightly whenever he used his little nicknames for you.
Seungmin was chaotic, he was funny, and he was the most loyal friend you’d ever had. He’d been with you through thick and thin. Every broken friendship and relationship, he was always there to console you, to hold your hand and tell you it was going to be alright. He was always there for you, without fail. He’d always joke around and say it was one of his lab traits, but you knew better.
Whether he was a hybrid or not, you knew Seungmin would still be the same Seungmin.
Your Seungmin.
A couple of years ago, you finally got to move out of your parents’ house. It was only natural that you ended up renting a place with your best friend, considering he, too, wanted to move out, and he didn’t particularly enjoy the thought of living with strangers.
Decades had passed since hybrids were integrated into human society. They finally had rights, they were treated as people and not some pet you bought from a store–no disrespect to pets, they had their rights, too. But pets weren’t people. Hybrids, on the other hand, were.
Hybrids had free will, they could reason like humans could, and they certainly deserved to be treated as equals. These were the values that you’d been taught as you grew up, and it was something you believed in still to this day.
Regardless, hybrids still had their animal urges and needs, which Seungmin seemed to have been struggling with for a couple of months now.
The confession happened last night, while you both threw a tennis ball back and forth at each other, after one too many shots of vodka–to be more precise, it’d been three. Three shots of vodka only.
Alcohol wasn’t deadly toxic to Seungmin like it was to other hybrids, but his body certainly couldn’t digest it very well, which usually manifested not only in the flush that spread all over his face, but also by shutting down every single one of his filters. ‘I haven’t been able to come in two fucking months. Two months! I feel like I’m dying, dude. I just need to blow’.
You’d asked him how that was even possible, how he had not managed to bring himself to orgasm in two months, considering you knew he was a person with a moderate sex drive–based on the amount of times you had to stay in your shared flat while he had company over… His answer was a very graceful ‘The fuck if i know… Nothing works, my dearest little human. Porn doesn’t work. Literature doesn’t work. And my imagination clearly doesn’t work, either’.
He looked genuinely distressed about it, especially when he sighed, and his tone lowered. ‘I’ve been checking forums online… Going anonymous to ask strangers, specifically other hybrids, but most of them said that I needed to find the root cause, that something in my environment could be affecting my physical performance, but it’s… It’s really frustrating, because I genuinely have no idea what’s going on’.
‘Have you tried, I don’t know, getting laid?’ was what your tipsy self asked. You wouldn’t have asked that question fully sober for sure. You really didn’t want to know if Seungmin was out there getting laid these days. It had been a little over a year since you had seen him date anyone, and the thought of him dating someone now, admittedly, made you jealous. Which was potentially very stupid on your part considering you were just friends. The best of friends. Only friends.
‘Nah. Can you imagine if I’m with someone and I can’t fucking come? Distress… Besides, I don’t want to just… You know, do it with a random person. People are kinda… ew’. You could understand completely why he wouldn’t want to go out and hook up with a stranger. After all, some people still saw hybrids as sex slaves, or they were heavily fetishised, so it wasn’t exactly safe to partake in one night stands for him.
Besides, your best friend was not one for hookups and one night stands in the first place. He had trust issues, especially with humans, so you could definitely understand his predicament.
‘What if it’s someone you know?’ You threw the ball back at him just as you’d boldly asked the question, because spirits always made you voice things sober you would never have the guts to say.
Seungmin caught the ball and scoffed, completely sure that no one he knew would want to be that intimate with him, and not think ill of him if he didn’t manage to perform.
But you had to open your big mouth again, very confidently telling him ‘And what about me? I can do it’.
The ball suddenly fell from Seungmin’s hand, landing on the floor and rolling under the coffee table. His eyes followed the movement like a hawk–or, maybe it’d be more accurate to say like a dog. He stretched his body a bit out of the sofa, not even bothering to stand up fully, trying to get the ball while he chuckled, maybe a bit nervously.
Seungmin genuinely thought you were joking for a second. That was exactly what he’d told you, but then he saw how serious you were about it, and, after a few minutes of silence, he simply said that you should have this conversation sober.
Which you did.
Which took you right here, right into his room, with his painfully hard cock in your hands.
Seungmin knew you wouldn’t judge him if he couldn’t come. He trusted you enough to be vulnerable with you in more ways than one, to tell you what he needed or wanted, so you would gladly help him–the fact that you had a major crush on him made you feel a bit self-conscious, you’d admit… Like you were taking advantage of the situation to touch him this intimately. But you had already offered it, and he had already accepted it, so you just didn’t feel like backing down on your word.
“Tighten your grip a bit more”, Seungmin mumbled, and once again he threw his head back when you did as asked and continued working his cock. “Fuck, yeah. That’s it…”
You were starting to heat up yourself. Especially whenever he spoke like that, with the tone of his voice as low as it was. Seungmin was one to swear a lot, very openly, but in this context, it certainly felt… filthier. And it affected you. Maybe embarrassingly so…
You couldn’t help but swear under your breath when your eyes drifted from his face to his length. How could you not look? When he was there, letting you touch him…
Clear fluid leaked from his tip, dripping all over your fingers and aiding your movement, intensifying those sinful wet sounds that resonated in your ears with each stroke. You knew his specific breed tended to produce more fluids than a human would, he’d told you this before in passing, but you had honestly not expected it to be this much.
Seungmin didn’t seem fazed at his slick soiling his clothes. On the contrary, it seemed like he didn’t even care at all.
“Like what you see?”
Your head snapped upwards to meet his eyes, and you immediately felt heat rush to your cheeks.
“I’m sorry, I’m trying really hard not to look, but…” You suddenly felt small under his gaze, even if your hands didn’t stop. His eyes were so dark, staring right into yours so intensely the hairs at your nape stood on end.
Seungmin always tried not to look people in the eyes, ‘It activates this primal instinct in me, it’s a bit annoying sometimes, to be honest. I only make eye contact when… when I… Well, you know…’ He’d said once, very vaguely, but even back then, you understood.
He didn’t need to tell you in which situation he enjoyed eye contact. Whenever you looked him in the eyes, you always felt trapped under his gaze, like you wanted to submit. And, somehow, it also woke the butterflies in your belly. Right now, that feeling seemed to have heightened tenfold.
“You’re trying not to look, but…?” Seungmin licked his lips, reaching forward to take a hold of your forearm. Not to stop you, but simply to drag his thumb over your skin in soothing motions.
“But…” You swallowed. You figured now was as good a time as any to let the thoughts out of your head, otherwise they would haunt you forever. “You’re so big”.
Seungmin giggled, a sound that he hardly ever let anyone outside of his close friend group hear, the flush on his face deepened, and his eyes crinkled at the corners. Adorable, even in this context… “You think I’m big?”
“Haven’t touched someone this big ever”, your pace was still slow, but you made sure to stroke as much of him as you could, as tight as he had asked you to. It wasn’t like he was crazy big, he wasn’t particularly long, but he was just… girthy. Girthier than you had ever seen in your pathetic excuse for a love life. “Not only that, but… It’s just… pretty”.
At that, Seungmin looked genuinely incredulous. “Pretty?”
“Mm… pretty”.
He was going to speak, but before he could, your movements sped up, and the whine that left his mouth as soon as you did had your insides instantly firing up. It was a completely involuntary reaction, how could your body not react when the sounds coming out of his mouth were this sinful? When the almost canine whines stirred the butterflies flying freely in your belly?
“Oh, fuck… That’s it, baby, just like that, shit…”
You didn’t even acknowledge the pet name that just escaped his lips. You were convinced it was a heat of the moment thing, so you swallowed that saliva that had suddenly pooled in your mouth, and continued to focus on your motions.
With both of your hands, you went from the base to the head a few times, until you settled one of your hands at the base and the other at the tip. You had heard that the base of a canine hybrid’s cock was sensitive, not as much as the head, but much more than a human’s would be, and Seungmin’s wagging tail and content sighs proved that to be true.
You made sure to pull the foreskin with you when you pumped his head, and your eyes naturally drifted to the sight again. Pretty, indeed…
“You’re so fucking good at this, fuck…” Seungmin’s head was tilted back against the headboard, but he was still looking at you through his lashes. His chest rose and fell with his laboured breathing, he was essentially panting, his tongue poked out from between his lips, and the movement of his thumb on your forearm had long since stopped. He was now just gripping your arm, lightly digging his fingers on your skin.
“You think so?” You couldn’t help but ask.
Maybe it was a bit selfish, but you definitely wanted to hear more of his praise. It fed a pool of arousal in the pit of your stomach that you just knew you’d have to deal with as soon as you were on your own and away from his prying eyes…
“Fuck, yeah… You’re so good to me, so…” His words trailed off, stopped when he swallowed thickly.
You wanted him to continue what he was going to say, you almost asked him to, but before you could, he spoke again–with an edge of desperation in his voice that almost made you faint.
“Squeeze a bit harder at the base”, so you did, twisting your wrist as you went up and down, and the loud moan that fell from his mouth made you dizzy with need. “That’s it, keep doing that, fuck…”
You worked his cock for a while, all as words of appreciation continued to fly past his lips, all as his slick kept dripping all over your fingers, as he directed more pet names your way. Until something started to feel different…
“Oh, oh, fuck… Fuck, shit, don’t stop, baby, please, don’t…”
You wouldn’t have dared stop, not when your fingers suddenly weren’t able to touch where you held him. You kept the motions on the head of his cock, but the base seemed to be swelling under your grasp, loosening it a bit.
“No, no, don’t stop there. Squeeze it. Keep touching it, pup”, Seungmin pleaded, tightening his grip on your arm while small whines escaped his throat, almost drowned by the sound of his tail thumping against the headboard.
“Oh, my God…” You knew hybrids were anatomically different to humans, but you had never really considered just how much they could be, so it really took you by surprise.
You were experiencing one of Seungmin’s hybrid attributes first hand. There, at the base of his cock, a knot was quickly swelling, and you would’ve never expected how much the sight and feel of it could affect you. Your mind raced, suddenly curious as to how it would feel like if he were pushing his cock into your warmth, how he would stretch you out to your absolute limits…
Seungmin might’ve been the hybrid here, but you were certainly salivating at the feel of his swollen knot in your hands.
Tightening your grip around his knot, you started massaging it, just as you pumped his head faster, coaxing a string of groans and moans and swears to come out of Seungmin’s mouth.
“Your hands… They’re so soft, so… perfect. That’s perfect, pup, you’re doing so fucking well”.
Seungmin was talking to you like you weren’t the one working him up. It would’ve amused you, had it not been feeding the fire that was burning bright deep within yourself.
You could feel your underwear sticking to your skin, drenched in your own fluids because of Seungmin, and the sounds he was making, and his heavy cock under your hands, and that fucking knot of his…
“Seungmin… Shit, you… This…” Being honest, you were speechless.
“What? Huh?” Seungmin finally let go of your arm, instead he cupped your cheek, making you look at him, just as he started to thrust up into your fists. “I know what you want to tell me. Or, at least, I think I do, fuck… I can hear how fast your heart is beating, pup. I can smell it all, you know? I wanna know what you’re thinking. Tell me”.
You licked your lips, staring into his eyes. You were sure your face couldn’t be any warmer, yet the heat seemed to spread further the longer you looked at him, the faster you moved your hands and he thrusted into your grip.
“I’m… Fuck, I can’t help but think how it would feel like inside me, stretching me open…”
“Oh, shit–” Seungmin threw his head back. His tail thrashed against the headboard, and his ears were twitching nonstop. “I can–Fuck, baby, I can give it to you. Whatever you want, just say it and I’ll give it to you”.
With your lower lip trapped between your teeth, you took in a deep breath, almost shivering when Seungmin pulled his shirt up to reveal his torso just as he mumbled the most desperate “Close, so fucking close, puppy. Don’t you dare fucking stop. Tell me–tell me more…”
“I want… want your knot… I want you, Seungmin. So much, so, so much. Need you”, you emphasised each statement with a tighter squeeze to the swollen base of his length.
“Oh, fuck!”
With a few more thrusts of his hips, and a few more twists of your wrists, Seungmin gave you a quick warning, only for your name to fly past his lips, and explode seconds after. Thick ropes of cum spurted from the tip of his cock, painting his torso in the creamy substance and dripping all over your hands. It was so much cum, more than you had ever seen anyone ever produce.
The sounds coming out of his mouth were absolutely pornographic, they entered your ears and shot straight to your aching, needy insides. Needy for Seungmin, for his knot, and his everything.
You kept working his cock, pumping the tip to make sure every drop of his cum came out, squeezing and stroking his knot through it all. Until Seungmin’s body slumped against the headboard.
The movement of your hands stopped, but you didn’t remove them. The sight was straight out of a wet dream, his torso, his shirt, his shorts, your hands, everything was covered in cum, and you suddenly had the urge to taste it. But you begrudgingly resisted that urge, this was probably not the moment for that.
When you finally looked away from the mess, your eyes found Seungmin’s. His chest rose and fell with his ragged breaths, his lips were slightly parted as he gasped for air, and he was looking so deeply into your eyes you simply couldn’t look away.
You weren’t sure who moved first, maybe it was you, or maybe it was him… Or maybe, it had been both.
Before you knew it, Seungmin’s soft, moist lips were on yours, kissing you like a starved man. And you retaliated, of course. You kissed him with the same enthusiasm he had, licking his bottom lip to get your tongue inside his mouth, and very quickly, you started to feel lightheaded.
Kissing Seungmin was better than you could’ve ever imagined. Hearing him and seeing him come was a transcendental experience, and you were sure that your brain chemistry had just been altered forever. How could you ever go back to anyone else after this?
The kiss was messy, sloppy, tongues intertwining and teeth sinking on soft skin, producing wet noises all around. You would’ve honestly loved to stay there forever, kissing him, with his length in your hands and his cum all over your fingers. Unfortunately, though, you needed to breathe, so you finally disconnected your lips from his, and took a deep breath.
Seungmin looked into your eyes, and you looked right back. They were still dark, still alluring, but there was something else, something softer… Maybe more vulnerable. The stare-off lasted for a few moments, a few moments spent in silence, until you both broke into a fit of laughter.
Seungmin was practically glowing, he looked possibly the most handsome you’d ever seen him. Even when he was covering the lower part of his face with his hand while he laughed, trying to hide that pretty smile of his after years and years of insecurities produced by the now long since removed braces on his teeth, you still found him incredibly handsome and adorable.
“I take it you enjoyed it? You must have. Look at this mess you made”, there was a teasing smile on your lips, but the truth was, you genuinely wanted to know.
“As much as you enjoyed, it seems”, Seungmin scoffed, and he gestured between your bodies, where you were still holding his cock. He was still just as hard as he was before he came.
“You’re still hard?” You couldn’t hide the surprise in your voice, nor the way your eyes widened at the sight, and it made Seungmin smirk immediately.
“Baby, I’m a dog. My cock thinks it should be inside someone right now, keeping all my cum contained with my knot. Of course I’m still hard, it wants to breed”.
“To… to breed?” Your voice was airy, shaky, suddenly unable to contain the feeling of pure arousal you felt coursing through your veins.
“Mm… to breed”, Seungmin repeated, and he bit his lip when you started to gently squeeze and caress his knot.
He detached himself from the headboard just enough so he could pull his shirt off. After a few moments of silence, he spoke again. His gaze softened further, and he brought his hands to your cheeks so he could softly caress the skin with his thumbs. “Thank you. Fuck, I'm so grateful right now. That felt so good”.
“Oh, please… It was my pleasure”, you chuckled, finally letting go of the head of his cock so both of your hands could focus on giving attention to his knot, hopefully helping relieve any possible discomfort he might be feeling since it was out in the open, unable to fulfil its purpose.
The motions clearly made Seungmin’s blush deepen. He looked at you for a few bated breaths, and before you could even understand what was happening, you were on your back, gasping in surprise.
Taking his discarded shirt, Seungmin knelt on the bed, right between your legs, and he cleaned your hands, as well as his torso of as much of his cum as he could.
“Your pleasure, pretty human, hasn’t even started yet. Let me make you feel as good as you just made me feel”.

Mute Siren! Seungmin x Hard of Hearing! Reader
Every year you force yourself to visit the lake, a few weeks away from the loud, screetching city. You remember the way the water glimmer under the moonlight, the way you always wokeup to gifts on the rocks along the shore. You always wondered who or what left them, until you saw him. Eyes brighter than obsidian stone and scales flittering with hues of blue and purple.

On the first official day of your vacation, the drive to the lake house fuzzes your brain with nostalgia. Memories of warm summer air and early 2000s music flood you with a warmth only this place could. Upon the few miles left, the asphalt turned to gravel and stone, the car shaking over every bump. Your eyes light up at the sight of the house, just as cozy as you remembered.
Once things were unpacked, you changed into your bathing suit and rushed to the lake. Eyes gleamed as the sun slowly set, casting the most beautiful gold hour glow across the water. you lay on the dock, feet dangling into the water, the smell of moss and dandelions filling your senses. Everything seemed perfect, but you couldn't help the memories return to you. Blue and purple scales fill the void behind your eyes, hands subconsciously removing your hearing aid, and the muffled silence fills you

As soon as he heard the loud, obnoxious car beating against the stones he knew. The way his heart picked up, caused a strange sense of familiarity to fill him. The human, his human. The one he grew with, ever since he was a pup, he was fond of you. How you learned to walk, swim, the strange shrilling sound you made when you smiled. How different you grew compared to him. Humans were so odd, so curious. But the strangest thing he found, burned into his brain was how your cheeks became so red when he left you gifts. Moss and cat-tailed crowns, the small twined shinies he made a necklace out of for you. He loved it, how the shrilling noise turned to a soft hum when your face got red.
He saw you, the newer you. Pretty, oh how you were so pretty! So simple and soft, no need for glimmering or chirping. His eyes were barely visible over the water, obsidian orbs observing you as he swam closer, but never past the logs by the bank. What did you take out of your ear? Humans are...detachable? He could hear it, the hum of whatever it was. What was it? He had to know, maybe it was broken? He could fix it! Anything for his human.
Slowly he slinked through the water, eyes between your frame and that small, annoying humming thing. What was it??? He was scared and anxious, he's never been so close to you before, and you smelled...different. Seungmin pouted, brows furrowed as he carefully reached for the object ringing in his ears. But you stirred, causing the poor boy to panic and hide. The splashing water woke you so abruptly but you saw him, his tail glimmering under the now inky black water.
So, he is real?

You had been sorting through these boxes for hours, the dry stuffy heat making you sweat. You know there in here! You remember every small trinket it made you..he made you. Finally finding them, tucked away inside the small backpack you used as a child. Each piece brought back warm memories, he was real. You gather a few of them in your hands, rushing from the cabin back onto the lake's shore. You didn't know how you were gonna bring him closer but you were determined to see him, really see him this time.
The sun beat down against you as you carefully walked into the water. Your eyes scanned the water's horizon, searching, silently pleading. But soon, across the lake you caught a glimpse of his head, the smile on your face couldn't be contained. Holding up the small pile of trinkets, almost as a peace offering.
Seungmin saw you, his head tilted to the left..then the right. What were you doing? Did you no longer need help in the water? Or was the sun making you less scared? You always cried when your friends tried to make you swim at night, but he never let anything hurt you, nothing in these waters could. He made sure of it, his eyes caught onto the trinkets, HIS trinkets. Were you returning them..? Did you no longer love them? No more red cheeks and hums? He waited, before hearing you call to him "I see you! Please...come closer! I won't hurt you!"
Closer? Do you...want him closer? Slowly Seungmin swam towards you, why was he nervous? Why did his chest feel so heavy, like he'd sink if he stopped moving closer. He found himself behind the log, peering at you; with furrowed brows and pink hues across his cheeks. He looked ethereal, majestic and so apprehensive. Clawed, webbed hands held onto the piece of soaked wood, his head cocked to one side.
Slowly you approached him, holding out the necklace he made you "It's okay...im- I remember you.." you smiled at him, hoping to translate the comfort you felt onto him. Seungmin hummed, a low chirping noise. Cute, oh he was so cute "Do you..understand me?" you should have asked that sooner but with how quickly he nodded, the bubbling feeling of excitement roared through you "Perfect! Im Y/n..do you...have a name?" you hoped there would be a way for you both to communicate, maybe he spoke? Maybe he could read and write? The possibilities were endless until you saw him open and close his mouth a few times, only small chirped whimpers followed. A clawed finger pointed to his neck, with a low head shake. He couldn't speak? Excitement soared through you, just ever so slightly. "do you remember seeing this?" your hands moved slowly, watching a golden glimmer rush over his eyes, he lunged towards you, nodding with so much excitement. So he had been around the entire time..your whole life...
Seungmin watched your hands move, getting the confidence to pull himself up onto the log, iridescent tail swaying in the water him. He was beautiful, milky skin blended into the deep black scales on his waist. His hands webbed and clawed though they looked so delicate, the same black and purple-hued scales showed across his chest and cheeks. Your eyes flowed him, every curve and dip of his entire being entranced you. "Seungmin" he tried to mimic you, though each letter was a little muffled from the shape of his hand "Seungmin? That's your name? It's pretty!"

You talked until the sun began to say its final goodbyes, as the hours passed you and Seungmin got closer, memories spoken, smiles shared. The siren got to see your rosy cheeks and soft hums up close, his eyes never leaving you as you spoke to him. But all good things must come to an end, the slowly built anxiety came to you as light from the water disappeared, though you wouldn't let it stop you from learning more "so...you eating fish, isn't that like..cannibalism?" the shrilling noise followed your question, making Seungmin smile with you, his own chirps cascading in the silence of the lake "no, well..yes? I only eat catfish and sunfish tho" seungmin was slow to sign back but you loved it, watching how his hands moved. Seungmin knew what was to follow in the comfortable silence, taking a risk with his next question "can i take you swimming?"
It caught you off guard enough that your eyes widened before sighing, causing the siren to mock the sound. Offering his hand to you "please?" how could you say no? His hand was cold and silky, letting him guide you deeper into the water. Seungmin was stronger than he looked, holding you close to his chest, his arm wrapped around your waist. You hoped he couldn't see the blush on your skin "seungmin?" you broke the silence, wrapping your arms around his neck as you floated with him. The siren stared at you, then at how close you were to him, the faintest hint of pink dusted his scaled cheekbones. "please dont let go.." the siren shook his head, pulling you closer, his obsidian orbs looked between your eyes then your lips then back again. It's like your body reacted on its own, soon your lips connected, one hand finding the hair on the nape of his neck while the other roamed down his chest.
The soft chirping noise erupted from his throat, webbed hands moved from your waist to your bottom, carefully wrapping your legs around his hips. When you pulled away seungmin huffed and whined, it was cute. He looked at you with a pleading look, tapping your thighs to signal for you to lock your legs. With his now free hand, seungmin spoke "more..? More..please..please?" you nodded, capturing his lips once again, this time with more vigor, your body reacting on its own, grinding against him. But you felt something begin to grow against you, it was cold, almost freezing against your burning clothed core. You broke the kiss, much to Seungmin's displeasure, there was a small slit where his pelvic area was, a small, iridescent appendage was slowly slipping through the slits folds. Glowing in shades of blue and purple, you couldn't look away, slowly moving your hand down the siren's chest, hia breath hitched the closer you got. "is this your...?" the question came out closer to a whisper but the siren heard you, his free hand taking yours, letting it rest against the nub "n-no...its not.." you hummed in response, gently stroking the glowing nub. The siren gripped your hips, a sharp shrilling noise broke through his throat, his face buried into your neck. you kept stroking him before slowly pulling your bathing suit bottoms to the side, you wanted to feel him, even if it wasn't the most ideal shape. You slowly ground your core against him, his claws sunk into the fatty flesh of your ass, making only what you would assume as blissful erotic noises. The feeling was euphoric, cold and slick even under the water, you kept your pace, whimpering softy against him before leaving gentle love bites along his neck. Each roll of your hips brought more of the siren to you. Soon you felt a soft prodding against you, pulling away just enough to see between you, you saw it. Long, glowing apendage slithering out from inside the same slit the nub came from. It looked so smooth, almost tongue shaped with a small budging knot at its base. Seungmin became shy under your heated gaze, chriling to bring youtlr attention back to him. "i-is that..." under any other circumstance you werw confident, but seeing him, his cock in all itw glory made your head spin. The siren nodded, taking his lip between his teeth, he bucked his hips up towards your cunt , whining. He looked so pretty, gemstone eyes blown out with need and flushed cheeks, so soft...so pliant.
Without any hesitation you tugged on the ties to yout bottoms, taking them off fully before looking the siren in his eyes "want it....want you...please..." you pulled him closer, rolling your hips against him to emphasize your words. Seungmin didnt need to be tokd twice, wrapping his arms securely around your waist the siren eased into you. His whole body shuttered at the feeling if your warm walls wrapping around him, his mouth agape to match yours. The noises that followed while seungmin begane thrusting into you almost sounded like whimpers. Each thrust and roll of his hips sent what felt like white fire to your core, the duel stimulation from the iridescent nub rubbing your clit and the way his cock stretched you full made you light headed.
Seungmin began to get lost in the feeling, you could tell by his eyes., now deep like the ocean he once came from. You weren't much better either, you've never experienced a love this sweet before.
A webbed hand came behind your wet locks and pulled you in closer. He needed to feel all of you. The siren whined and whimpered as you felt a pull on your top, he was asking for it off.
You followed his silent pleas and removed the last article of clothing separating you two. Now he cradled your bare chests together as he nestled your head in his neck. It felt so nautral, so bare, so primal, so right.
His thrust became deeper, reaching inside you to what felt like strokes against your heart. You could feel him, every inch of silky porcelain skin against yours, you matched each if his thrust with a roll of your hips. The coil in your gut told you how soon release was coming, like a hive mind both yours and the sirens handa came in between you, the intimacy setting fire to your skin. Your hand rubbed and stroked the nug which only swelled with each touch, causing a shrieking like whimper to escape seungmins throat. His own webbed hand reaching down to rub your clit, careful of his nails. The slow, firm circles he rubbed against you caused you to grind against him harder, your own moans echoed against the sound of rolling waters.
It was like a tsunami hit you both, seungmin pulling you closer as you both hit release, there was a unfamiliar coolness pooling inside you. You pulled the siren intona deep kiss, all teeth and tongue as he chirped, his body stilling. He looked at you, with the softest puppy eyes before gliding though the water to bring you back to the log, his grip never lessened until your body touched land.
There was a confortable silence around you, placing small kisses to his cheeks, nose and lips before he finally broke it "stay...?" the question stung, you wanted to, deeply you did. But the reality facing how large of a move it woild be grounded you. "i..i cant stay forever..." your eyes stung with the beginning of tears, but before they could fall seungmin kissed you, resting his forhead to yours. "stay...for a while..?" your head shookba solid yes, pulling away to let him slip out of you, the giggle that flowed made the siren blush. Oh how he loved that noise, a sweet melody better than any sing his kind could sing. "yeah...stay for a while..."
Shadowed Halls
(Chapter 1)

Summary: For a girl who grew up in a small town in west Texas she'd never known an unfriendly face. People would greet each other with sweet smiles and small talk in the morning, always ready to lend a hand to their neighbor. Any would think this an ideal environment for one to grow and mature in, but as she ventures into unknown territory she'll see just how wrong she was and how much more cautious she should've been.

As the taxi rolled to a stop in front of the run-down cobblestone complex, you felt the excitement that had been sitting in your stomach fade slightly the longer you took it in. Your thoughts were cut short by the rough, hacking cough let out by the taxi driver before his eyes cut sharply to you in the rearview mirror. Without saying anything, it wasn't hard to get his message with the impatient raising of his brow. Glancing at the meter, you grabbed your wallet and pulled out some cash before handing it to the man with a timid smile. After he finished counting and deposited the money into the cash box, it was clear that any business he thought he had with you was over as he popped the trunk and unlocked the taxi's door locks. Not wanting to cause any more annoyance to the man, you flashed what you hoped came across as a grateful smile and chirped a goodbye before getting out to retrieve your suitcase from the back. Hauling the suitcase out of the trunk pulled a grumble from within your throat, the cab driver didn't seem to want to offer the same help he'd previously given when you'd loaded it in initially. With one final huff, you were able to get it out and place it on the sidewalk before grabbing your duffle bag. Slamming the trunk closed and walking back onto the concrete sidewalk was all the confirmation the cabbie needed as the tires let out a slight screech as he pulled off. The taxi's departure marked a definitive point; there was no turning back now.
Turning to face the building, a feeling of surreal disbelief flowed through you and left a tingly sensation from the tips of your fingers to your toes. The feeling of success was undeniable; making this move was something that you could only dream of doing while working on the farm with your father. Your parents hadn't exactly been thrilled with the idea when you proposed what you thought would be the next step in your young adult life. Hearing that you wanted to move from Texas to New York nearly sent your mother into cardiac arrest. It took weeks of explaining before they realized how serious you were about following through with your plan. While your mom tried to take the calmer approach, your father had no problem telling you how outlandish and ridiculous your idea was. The determination you had to follow through with your proposition eventually wore them down and got them to support their oldest daughter's dream to spread her wings in the "big city." A vibration from your jeans pocket caused you to jolt before reaching to grab your phone and look at the screen as a smile slowly spread across your face. Hitting the accept call button, you leaned onto one leg and raised the phone to your ear while holding the handle of your suitcase securely in the other hand.
"Hey mom, miss me already?" you greeted with a hint of teasing in your voice. Saying goodbye to your mother had taken the longest, so it wasn't a big surprise to you that she'd be the first to call.
"Hi Sugar, I just wanted to check on you. You said you'd call when you landed, but it's been 2 hours since your flight got in. You know I worry," the soft voice with a southern twang that could only belong to her mother rang through your ears.
"I'm sorry mama, you wouldn't believe how plumb crazy the airport over here is. I swear it took me nearly an hour to get my luggage and then another half hour to flag down a cab. I just reached the apartment complex; I still need to go get the keys," you explained to your fretting mom while people rushed by you on the sidewalk, smiling at the few that seemed to cast you inquisitive or annoyed looks.
"I warned you, city folk move like someone's lit a fire in their pants. You'll get the hang of it soon. Remember that papa's already paid the first three months' rent for you. Once you save money from your new job, you'll have to take it over yourself, but everything should be sorted with that---" Your mother's chirping faded out when your attention shifted to a man who walked out of the doors of the complex. He was dressed in a grey suit and held a black briefcase; you couldn't help but feel like he looked like he walked off the pages of those fancy fashion magazines they have at the doctor's office. In your daze, you couldn't help but find it odd that a man that looked as sophisticated as him would be walking out of the worn-down building you'd be calling home for the time being. As if he felt your steady gaze being directed his way, his narrowed gaze cut up to yours from where it'd previously been focused on scrolling through his phone. You held the contact for a second before it sunk in that he'd caught you more or less gawking and you looked to the ground in embarrassment. Manners had always been something that your mother and grandmother had stressed over drilling into your head; leering at someone was sure to get your knuckles rasped with the wooden spatula. When a respectable amount of time seemed to pass, you glanced back up to find the man gone and breathed out a sigh of relief before refocusing back onto your mother.
"I've just finished sending out your stuff; Bobbie down at the shipping office said it should reach you by the end of the week, and then you can get the movers to bring it over to your apartment. Don't forget you have to call them, bunny." She finished before you heard a garbled voice call out for her in the background.
"I'll call you back later tonight, sweetie; your brother needs me. You just get your keys and get settled in, okay? Love you!"
"Love you too, ma," you chirped back with a smile before hearing the telltale click which signaled that she'd hung up the phone.
Sliding your phone back into the safety of your back pocket, you readjusted the slipping strap of your duffle and made your way to the stairs that led to the front door of the apartment complex.
Opening the door and making your way in didn't leave a better impression than simply looking from outside did. The harsh fluorescent lights on the ceiling seemed to buzz from overuse and served mostly to highlight the light dusting of dirt that coated the floors. Straight across from the entrance was an elevator with a handwritten 'out of order' sign taped in the middle. To the right was a set of stairs that presumably would lead to the upper floors, and to the left was the front that you'd been looking for—a faded green door with the word 'office' labeled on it in equally faded gold script.
Breathing a slight sigh of relief at finding the office so easily, you hiked your duffle further up your shoulder and made your way over to the door. Raising your hand up, you rapped your knuckles against the hard wood next to the frosted glass windowpane and waited until you heard a croaked-out voice call to come in before releasing a rough cough.
Turning the handle and stepping inside with a smile, you were greeted with an older man sitting in front of a desk shuffling through a stack of papers with a cigarette hanging from his mouth, seemingly looking for something. He looked to be around your pa's age, his hair more of a receding line with splotches of grey mixed into what once was black. The clicking that signaled the opening of the door caught his attention and caused him to halt his search as his dull grey eyes scanned you from head to toe while a smirk hitched one side of his lips up. The smoke that filled the room burned your lungs the longer you stood in the room, and the slightly cracked window to the left of his desk did little to help.
Flashing the man another smile, you glanced at the nameplate on his desk before beginning. "Hello, Mr. Miller, I'm your new tenant and was told to come here to pick up the keys for my apartment. I just got in today; I'm Y/N L/N."
"Hello, darling, yes, I remember; welcome to Pinecrest Manor. Had I known we'd have a little doll moving in today, I'd have dressed up a bit more for the occasion," he responded playfully while standing to leer at you before walking over to the glass case on the right side of the wall that held numerous pairs of keys. As Mr. Miller sauntered over to the glass case filled with keys, you couldn't help but feel a mixture of discomfort and impatience. The smoke-laden air made your throat itch, and you subtly coughed again, hoping to avoid inhaling more of it.
He continued to talk as he riffled through the keys, his voice raspy and slightly amused. "Ah, you said Y/N L/N, right? Yes, your paperwork is all here. Pinecrest Manor isn't much to look at, but we do our best to keep things in order around here." He chuckled to himself, finding his own comment amusing.
You nodded politely, though you were eager to receive your keys and get settled into your new apartment. Glancing around the office, you noticed the outdated décor and the layer of dust on some of the surfaces. It wasn't exactly the welcoming environment you had hoped for, but it would have to do for now.
After what felt like an eternity of Mr. Miller fumbling through keys, he finally selected a set and turned back to you with a grin. "Here we are, darling," he said, extending the keys towards you. "Apartment 305, up on the third floor. Elevator's out of order, so you'll have to take the stairs. But I'm sure a young thing like yourself won't mind the exercise." He paused before raking his eyes up and down the length of you as you stood to receive the keys. "You need some help finding it; I wouldn't want a sweet girl like you getting lost on your first day here."
You took the keys from where he dangled them teasingly out to you with a polite thank you, managing a small smile despite the persistent discomfort of the smoky room. "I'm sure I'll be able to manage. Thank you, Mr. Miller. I appreciate your help."
Though he looked mildly disappointed by the rebuff, he nodded, his smirk widening a fraction. "Anytime, Y/N. And if you need anything else, you know where to find me."
With that, you turned to leave, eager to escape the stifling office and finally settle into your new home. As you closed the door behind you, you took a deep breath of fresher air in the hallway, relieved to be out of Mr. Miller's smoke-filled domain.
As you made your way down the hallway, the dimly lit corridor of Pinecrest Manor seemed to stretch endlessly. The faint buzz of the fluorescent lights overhead added to the eerie atmosphere, contrasting sharply with the relative brightness of the office you had just left. You glanced down at the keys in your hand, feeling a mix of anticipation and apprehension about what lay ahead.
The worn carpet under your feet creaked softly with each step as you approached the stairwell. With a slight hesitation, you gripped the handrail and began ascending to the third floor. The staircase, much like the rest of the building, showed signs of age and neglect. Faded paint, scuff marks, and occasional cobwebs greeted you as you climbed higher.
Finally reaching the third-floor landing, you navigated your way to apartment 305. The hallway here was eerily quiet, the only sound being your own footsteps and the distant hum of the building's ventilation system. As you approached the faded green door labeled 305, you inserted the key and turned the lock.
The door swung open with a slight creak, revealing your new home. Stepping inside, you found yourself in a modestly sized living room. Sunlight filtered through dusty blinds, casting faint patterns on the worn carpet. The furnishings were basic but functional—a worn couch, a small coffee table, and a TV on a stand in the corner.
Setting your duffle bag down with a thud, you took a moment to survey the space. It wasn't luxurious by any means, but it would serve its purpose as your sanctuary for the foreseeable future. You walked through to the kitchenette, noting the outdated appliances and the flickering fluorescent light above the sink.
The bedroom was similarly modest, with a double bed pushed against one wall and a small dresser nearby. A narrow window offered a view of the neighboring buildings, their own faded facades staring back at you.
As you unpacked your belongings and began to settle in, you couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over you since entering Pinecrest Manor. The interaction with the building manager left a sour taste in your mouth, and the first impressions of the building weren't fitting into what you'd pictured the whole flight over. Closing the drawer of the dresser after placing the last of your belongings inside, you glanced at the digital clock on the nightstand and saw the time flash back at you—2:00 PM.
Suddenly, a new feeling rushed through you as you realized where you were and what you'd done. Walking over to the double bed, you sat down and scanned around the room one more time, a new light making everything seem so much better. In contrast to when you'd first walked in, you felt like there was so much possibility and hope to be found in your new apartment. Letting out a squeal of excitement, you fell back onto the mattress and let all the excitement rush through your body in the form of more squealing and tapping of your feet from where they still rested on the floor.
In your excitement, you failed to realize how loud you'd been until you heard three rough bangs coming from the connecting wall with your neighbor which jolted you back to reality. Snapping back up to sit straight on the bed, you went quiet and waited a minute to see if they continued; when they stayed silent, you released a breath of relief before falling back down. As you went back to quietly getting lost in your thoughts about how you'd decorate your new space and fantasizing about the adventures you'd have in this new environment, a ping from your phone sounded before it began to ring with a familiar ringtone that caused a smile to spread across your lips. Sliding the device out from your back pocket, you held it up in front of you to confirm what you already knew you'd see and sat up while swiping to accept the call and holding it up to your ear.

[ Meeting The Group For The First Time w/ Seungmin ] -

A/N: My first ever request?! 🥺
Summary: You're Seungmin's long-distance girlfriend and you finally meet the rest of Stray Kids
Masterlist
It had taken weeks of pestering and poking fun for the group to draw it out from Seungmin that he was seeing someone. It had taken even longer to convince him to talk about you, your name, your favourite things, how you were managing the distance between you. By the time he begrudgingly let Changbin, egged on by Hyunjin, say hello over FaceTime, you had been together for a little while. That is how it continued - precious phone calls in the middle of the night, friends occasionally waving over Seungmin’s shoulder as they briefly ask how you’re keeping, before Seungmin scurried to his bedroom to steal what little time you have to talk for himself. It was difficult, but it worked.
But, Seungmin had been different for a week or two - animated, loud, unlike himself in more ways than one. It was Chan who noticed first and was almost worried; he hadn’t heard your voice filtering from beneath Seungmin’s door for a little while, or caught sight of your face filling his phone screen over FaceTime. He couldn’t help but think the worst. When he found five minutes, he asked Seungmin casually how you were doing, whether you’d finished that project he had mentioned was keeping you busy and Seungmin replied so coolly, so calmly that Chan almost overlooked what he said. ‘Y/N is coming to visit. She’s flying out at the end of the month.’
If Chan hadn’t glanced at Seungmin’s face, he might have missed the shade of sangria painting his features, the smile he was seemingly trying to downplay. He repeated Seungmin’s words, ‘Oh, she’s coming to Korea?’
It was T-minus five minutes until the entire group knew and Seungmin had Changbin poking at his sides and Jeongin pacing at the foot of his bed. But, Seungmin shrugged the teasing off and chose to ignore the constant questioning of whether they would meet you until after he’d spoken to you. He had laid down a strict set of rules over dinner - if they wanted you to visit the dorm, and only if you wanted to, they would have to at least tidy the place first. There was to be no embarrassing him and, under all circumstances, a shirt was to be worn by each and every member for each and every minute of your visit. As much as they half-heartedly protested, he trusted them to make you feel welcome.
He counted the days until your arrival and whilst he wanted to tell the others to stick it for the constant teasing that followed, Seungmin couldn’t deny how excited he was for your visit. For the first few days, his friends barely saw or received so much as a message from him. With an empty schedule, he made sure to spend every moment with you, showing you around the city, taking you to his favourite places, and catching up on everything that the distance between you had made difficult. Eventually, Jisung caught him in the hallway of the dorm before Seungmin left for your hotel and asked when they would meet you.
At first, he darted around the question and he might have avoided answering at all if Chan hadn’t materialised to put forward a better argument. ‘I think Jisung means that we want to meet the person who is making you happy.’
So Seungmin found himself guiding you through the dorm, his hand a constant in your own, firm as if you might slip away if he lets go. He isn’t certain who is more apprehensive, you or him. He knows that his heart is thrumming in his chest, but he is not sure if it is nerves or the very fact he has you at his side after all this time causing it. The group is in the living room, even from the other side of the dorm he can hear Jisung and he almost winces because how can one person be so loud? A fleeting glance in your direction, a smile somewhere between excitement and uncertainty, and he presses on along the hallway. When he had asked whether you wanted to finally meet those who had been interrupting your calls for the past few months, you had immediately agreed – these were Seungmin’s closest friends, almost his brothers, and you wanted nothing more than to properly meet them.
You’re almost at the kitchen when a door opens and suddenly you’re face to face with Felix and this really isn’t how you planned to meet the first of Seungmin’s friends - almost walking into one another. Maybe Felix is as surprised as yourself, but he doesn’t show it, shyly smiling and saying hello. Seungmin had mentioned how quiet Felix can be around fresh faces and to put him at ease, you squeeze Seungmin’s hand and tell Felix how lovely it is to finally meet him. He laughs quietly and briefly acknowledges Seungmin, before continuing to the living room. Part of you might have liked a moment to collect yourself, to lean into Seungmin and level your breathing, but Felix is kindly holding the door open for you both and Seungmin is stepping forward because if he doesn’t go now, he might be too shy to bring you back later.
So you enter the living room, half-tucked behind Seungmin’s shoulder and the room wants to fall silent, only Chan knows better. A single glance in your direction and he is standing, trying to make himself seem a little less broad and big as he moves a little closer to welcome you into the space. ‘It’s nice to finally have you here,’ Chan says, those sitting nearby nodding in agreement, he adds with a glimpse to Seungmin, ‘He can finally stop talking about it.’
The pressure seems to suddenly alleviate - Chan is laughing as he returns to his seat and you watch as the others begin to smile too and all the while, you’re faintly aware of Seungmin lowering his head to your shoulder as to hide his face. It is cute to see him so flustered, even at the teasing of his friends and as much as you want to add to it a little yourself, Changbin is nudging Hyunjin’s shoulder and telling him to move along the sofa to make space for you to sit. It is as if you have always been here as you take a seat, their attention returning to the video game filling the television screen.
Felix quietly asks how you’re finding your trip, how different it is from home and your anxiety seems to slowly dissipate. As you tell him how much you’re enjoying yourself, you softly squeeze Seungmin’s knee – as beautiful as his country is, it is him that you love. After a while, Hyunjin pulls his phone from his pocket and shares the embarrassing photograph he had snapped of Seungmin a few weeks ago. Seungmin sighs and accepts his fate, hiding his head in his hands and he too has the feeling that it has always been this way, that you have always been at his side.

summary: after a long day at work, nothing excited you more than going home.

small note: It's my first post here and I hope this is good(somehow). Hope you enjoy reading this. Feedbacks are appreciated!
The growling of the cars and rustling footsteps subsided as darkness painted itself into the blank sky’s canvas. You bid one of your co-workers goodbye before gazing at your work desk. Is everything fine? A load of files that were supposed to be sent in tomorrow had been arranged neatly on the right side of your desk and the once scattered work papers had been combined into a tall stack of paper. A sigh of relief left your lips, finally, another stressful day had closed itself.
It was time to return home, returning to him if you were honest.
You flicked the light off and headed to the train station with a black jacket draped on your arm. It didn’t take a long time for you to arrive because the road was empty at this hour. Only the glowing streetlight and your own shadow accompany you throughout your walk. You purchased a ticket from the machine and went to your designed platform.
It’s 11.30 a.m, was he still there?
As you stepped onto the last stair, a wave of chilly air crashed, causing you to shiver under the piece of your thin clothing. You quickly wore the jacket, the end of the sleeve hanging loosely under your fingertips. It was obvious to anyone that it wasn’t yours. The smell of his cologne wrapped itself around you. His scent always reminded you of the sweet smell of vanilla and cinnamon, calming and comforting, like his existence in your life. That was why you insisted on keeping his jacket to yourself, although he begged to have it back because it was his favourite jacket.
The missing had overgrown in you and to say you were nothing but excited to meet him was an understatement. You settle down on a nearby bench and pluck your earphones in. The song began as your vision slowly filled with late-night workers who just got off work like you. Resting your head against the wall behind you, you let yourself drown in his voice. It still amazes you how his voice blends perfectly with the delicate sound of the piano.
The announcement of the upcoming train forced you to get up. You trailed behind those who entered the train first and sat at any vacant seat, coincidentally across a couple. The girl had rested her head on her boyfriend’s shoulder as they laced their hand together. A small smile spread on your face.
“Hope you are happy with him forever.” You silently whispered in your heart and looked ahead, praying the train would stop at your destination quickly. There was nothing worth looking out the window actually, it was just one of your ways to forget the boredom of waiting. Unfortunately, your home was the last destination of the night so you had a bit of time to sleep.
You didn’t realise how much had passed until the woman on the speaker woke you up, You rubbed your eyes, getting rid of the sleep before leaving the train. Stuffing your hand into the jacket’s pocket, you made your way to a cafe where you knew the direction by your heart. The cafe seemed to be the only shop open at this time. You pushed the door and the windchime on top of the door chimed, grabbing the boy on the counter's attention but he didn’t glance up, still occupied by his chores. He had rolled up his white sleeves and under the light, you saw sweat beamed on his forehead.
He stayed behind although there was absolutely nothing to do left. The tables were cleaned even the signboard had flipped to close.
“I’m sorry but the cafe has closed, please come back tomorrow.”
“If I leave, where will I spend the night, min?” You tilted your head
His action of wiping the counter halted as he raised his head. A soft smile conquered his face as he saw you. He abandoned the napkin and walked to you.
“Outside.” He cooed and held your shoulder, pushing you to the exit. You narrowed your eyes toward him only for him to chuckle.
“I’m joking! You’re late tonight, some hassle at your office?”He engulfed you in a tight hug, face buried in your hair. He pulled away and kissed your lips briefly.
“My co-worker as usual. We made a bet and I lost. So, lunch on me tomorrow, how delightful!”
As you kept rambling about your day in the office, he looked at you with tender eyes, listening attentively to your story. He needed to admit, you look adorable when you were so into the story you were telling. He could sit and listen to your story every day.
“That must be exhausting. A cup of hot chocolate will cheer you up a bit!” He beamed and rushed behind the counter to prepare the drink. You chuckled and went to him.
“Both of us are. Let’s close the cafe and head upstairs, min.”
“Are you sure you don’t need any drink?”
You nodded and grabbed his hand to the staircase, shutting the light to the cafe off. Seungmin removed his apron and hung it on the rack beside the stairs. How convenient it was, your house was above the cafe. After changing your clothes, you joined Seungmin in bed. His arm instantly wrapped itself around your waist, pecking at the crown of your head and whispering goodnight.
To be in his embrace, to be this close to him was what you called home and you were thankful that you could experience this every night.

pairing: fairy!Chan x princess!reader word count: 1.5k words summary: Taehyun arrives at Chan's cottage bringing both good news and bad news.

[2 days later]
He flipped through the pages and was ready to begin another story until a knock on the front door tore his gaze away. He placed the book on the small table and headed for it, hoping it was him. Opening the door, he met face-by-face with a brown paper grocery bag and white transparent wings flapping a gentle wind to him. The figure behind it tilted his head, and his smile stretched from cheek to cheek. Tailing him were a bunch of rabbits, their little hand gripping the paper bag, while on the curly blonde boy rested a white dove, glancing at Chan with narrowing eyes.
“You bring a little company, Taehyun” Chan uttered, voice slightly low unlike how he usually greeted Taehyun.
“Yep, I hope you don’t mind Chan. Need an extra hand and these little buddies come into rescue.”
Taehyun chuckled, walking toward the kitchen counter after Chan permitted him to enter.
Chan darted his eyes at the blonde boy. Crouching down to the rabbits, Taehyun thanked them. Envious and anxiety dominated Chan in silence.
“I'm always jealous of you because you’re so approachable, Hyun” Chan spoke, a hint of disappointment in his voice
He perked his head up, lips turned thin at the remark. Taehyun stood up with a rabbit sitting on his open palm. He approached Chan, gesturing for Chan to take the rabbit from him. Chan did as he told and the rabbit jumped to Chan’s hand. It’d looked at Chan with its wide black eyes before flashing a smile at him. The fairy was speechless for a moment. He sat on the floor, putting the small fluffy animal on his lap and patted him.
"They approach a pure soul despite their look. Try leaving the cottage and I'm sure thousands of animals will come to you. Animals aren’t like humans, Chan. They judge someone from the soul, not the appearance."
“Thank you, Taehyun. Both for the grocery and the comforting words”
“Chann-”
Both boys’ heads snapped at the sudden voice. Y/N’s eyes trailed to the sight of Chan playing with the rabbit - a sight that warmed her heart. At least, the animals aren’t afraid of him so he has company when she is away.
“Oh, hi! Who are you? Are you Chan’s friend?”
“Indeed, I am. You’re Princess Flora, aren’t you?”
“Yes. I was taking something from Chan. I’ll be leaving”
She gave Chan a quick hug and exchanged a smile with Taehyun. Chan waved her goodbye.
After Y/N left, the animals left too. A once brimming countenance changed into a worried one, Taehyun’s brown at unease motion.
“Why is the princess here, Chan?”
“I met her 10 years ago at my mom’s place and somehow the friendship was born. I love to have her around, she makes me look forward to upcoming days. With her around, I felt like I had a little sister.”
Taehyun sighed, messaging his forehead with both thumbs. Chan has opened his heart to someone - that’s a relief - but never came a thought that someone was the princess. To make matters worse, her father was hunting the fairies down. He pondered how to tell him about the news he was supposed to say minutes ago. Should he tell him the cold truth or cover it with nice words? Lying sometimes wouldn’t hurt…right?
“Tell me what’s on your mind, Taehyun. I can tell from your face that my action will get me killed”
“EXACTLY! Chan, please tell me you expected the consequence”
He nodded
“Then, I wouldn’t feel guilty delivering this news to you. The king had begun a search for you. Unfortunately, they expanded the search to the forest. You need to be careful. You only live once, Chan. Don't let your heart kill you"
Chan hummed and replied with a dry thanks to him. In the circumstances, nothing could change if they advised him now. Things would change if they did it in the past.
“Since you’re here, would you go with me to the town? I want to buy some flowers for her”
“You must be joking with me, Chan. Are you out of your mind?! I told you about the search a second ago and you already made an imprudent decision?”
Chan has lost his mind - Taehyun’s mind came to a quick conclusion. The one he cared for was mature and wouldn’t let his feelings decide the matter. Did everything change because of the princess? The princess must have changed his life, leading him to make such decisions.
“They have never seen my face, Taehyun. I’m sure they don’t know it is me. After all, I got nothing to lose in my life”
“Can’t I buy it for you? It’s less risky.”
“Taehyun, just this time. You helped me so much, hyun. You helped me find my parent's cottage back when I had no home. This time let me do it by myself" ” He pleaded.
Being the soft-hearted friend that he is, Taehyun agreed. He snapped his fingers twice and their wings disappeared under the raining dust. They exited the cottage, unaware of the small fairy watching them from the window sill, nibbling on his sugar cube - a sugar cube twice his size. His eyes gleamed with excitement and curiosity as he saw a letter slipped under the oak door.
“This is gonna be exciting!!”

Stepping into the town without tomato chunks and juice on his face was unusual. Right, he received that greeting if he was with his parents - which lasted when he was 5.
Horses with carriages pass non-stop on the cobblestone path. They were sending out folk's groceries or continuing their journey past the huge silver gate. It was the busiest part of the day for Stellious. Rows of cobblestone houses lined from both of their sides. Some of them were left unpainted. Taehyun grabbed Chan’s arm, pulling him toward a florist shop.
True enough, the king was searching for him. Wanted posters of him scattered all around the city lamp post. Luckily, his picture wasn’t included. A wave of relief washed over him- for a moment. Glancing at the flowers displayed, he immediately asked the owner to wrap a bouquet of purple lilac for him.
“Here he is!!” A voice rang through the shop, a loud shout that managed to attract everyone wandering nearby. Chan gave a quick glimpse to Taehyun. The bouquet exchanged hands. Chan dragged the man out of the store to the alleyway, ignoring the looks the folk gave them. He held the man by the shoulder, slamming him to the wall.
His grey eyes glowed as he stared at the man’s eyes. Soon, he let go of the man and left him. The old man rushed out after that. Taehyu’s brow furrowed.
“I changed our encounter into an awkward one in his memory.”
“You could do that?! What else have you been hiding from me?” Taehyun whispered, surprised.
“A lot, Taehyun. Let’s go back before the other finds me”
“I warned you, Chan. If they saw you out here, I’m scared they would chase after you.”

The prince stepped inside the garden with his guard, the moist air after the rain filled his lungs, helping him to calm down his nervousness of meeting with the princess. After countless tries, he finally could meet the sole heir of Stellious. The guard motioned his hand to one of the gazebo that someone occupied. The girl sipped her tea while she stared at the dancing butterflies across her.
The prince had asked the guard to stay where he was and he approached the girl, each of his steps felt difficult for him. He halted before he arrived and took a deep breath before calling out to the princess.
“Princess Flora?”
The girl spun her head as she placed the cup away. The gentle breeze blew strands of her hair away, allowing the Prince to fully observe the other’s face. Her eyes were sparkling as if reflecting the soft morning’s light. His heart had lost its original rhythm as his eyes laid on her. There was no doubt what the Stellious’s citizen told about their princess’s beauty.
“Oh, Prince Seungmin. Please to meet you, have a seat.”
And Seungmin did. She poured the tea into the empty cup and continued drinking. Seungmin licked his lips out of habit and glanced at her. Her attention seemed to linger on the insects and flowers, never once on him.
“Hey, it’s my first time meeting you. Can we know about each other a bit?”
“I believe that is not necessary. Whether I know you or not, I’m still going to get married to you.”
The evening went on with silence hanging in the air. Seungmin couldn’t find a way to start a talk after what she had said, every word he attempted to speak beginning to form a lump in his throat. She glanced at Seungmin and abruptly stood up.
“I’m afraid that’s all the time I have today for you. I’ll be leaving.” She bowed and without sparing another glance at him, exited the garden. He sighed with his head hung low. This is going to be difficult.
“Will I be able to talk to her at this state?”

“What is this about, Your Highness?” Beomgyu asked, sitting on her bed uninvited. Early in the morning, Taehyun requested Beomgyu to send the princess back to the palace before anyone noticed her disappearance (as it wasn’t the first time she did that). Since the brunette had once intruded on the castle, Taehyun didn’t hesitate to ask him, and Beomgyu agreed without another word being spilt. As he was leaving, Y/N suddenly asked him to stay, which brought him to this moment, awkwardly shifting on the bed and waiting for her to finish writing.
She turned around and handed him a folded paper. “I would be grateful if you give this to Chan. I’m going out with Seungmin today.”
“Oh! Have fun with the prince then. I’ll head off now.” Beomgyu bid goodbye and flew out of the balcony. His silhouette turned blurry as he entered the forest. A soft knocking snapped her from the short sightseeing.
“Your Highness, Prince Seungmin is expecting your arrival,”
“Please tell him I’ll be there in a few minutes, Sarah. Thank you”

“You look stunning, Y/N” Seungmin complimented as she walked down the stairs. Her fit wasn’t the daily attire she wore. Instead, of a dress that would swipe the ground beneath her, she chose a knee-length peach dress and a pair of brown boots. She muttered a thank you, beaming a tender smile. Seungmin pecked her hand and escorted her to the carriage, only for her to shake her head.
“Let’s take a stroll without your carriage. It’ll be much more satisfying to feel the real Stellious with both legs”
“You stretch enough for a long walk?”
“Of course! Don’t underestimate me, Prince Seungmin”
The prince chuckled, heading to the carriage driver to inform the matter. The aged man nodded. Picking up the reins, he gave the horse some slack. The horse’s head perked up and it began leaving the castle's front yard. Seungmin gestured for her to take the lead, but she pulled him to her side. Having a stroll around the town in the morning while breathing in the fresh air was something she'd missed. Her mother had lost her strength to walk a long distance as she aged. Adding a fact, nobody dared to bring the princess out of the palace after the incident took place
White cotton-like clouds sprawled across the blue sky, as they marched further, the sun rising behind the mountain greeted them, casting golden rays on the cobblestone path and trees. The morning breeze gently caressed their face. They chatted throughout the walk. What started from a random topic he brought to start a conversation turned into sharing a piece of their childhood life. Today was the longest record Seungmin had talked to her since their first encounter.
The walk to the town didn’t take hours. Setting foot in the city, the early birds of the town welcomed them with smiles and ‘good morning’ wishes. Flying birds scattered in the sky as they hunted for food and their growing children chirped their enchanting whistles. The town had always kept the same smell from the beginning, the smell of her childhood. Clasping Seungmin's hand, she dragged him through the street, heading to Aunty Rosie’s bakery. They never miss a chance to reply to the villagers' wishes.
The wind chime rang above the creaked door, and the smell of fresh baked goods and newly grounded coffee beans engulfed them. This was one of the things she was fond of in the silver-haired woman’s bakery, the smell greeting her is comforting.
“Y/N! You’re early today!” Rosie beamed and shifted her gaze to the prince.
“Prince Seungmin, isn’t it? It’s such a pleasure meeting you!”
“Don’t need to be too formal, Aunty. Call me Seungmin or whatever you prefer, please”
“Of course, sweetheart. You haven’t eaten your breakfast yet?”
She grinned sheepishly and nodded. Aunty Rosie turned to her kitchen, bringing out just-baked croissants and handed them to the prince. “Any preference in your drink?”
“A tea is good enough, Aunty. At this age, you should hand everything to your children”
A chuckle sounded from Aunty Rosie’s lips. She couldn’t leave this bakery behind as it was the only place she could recount her children and Y/N’s moments of growing up. The place was all she had after the children exited Stellious. At least, when they come back, they know where to find their beloved mother.
“This bakery meant everything to this old woman, Seungmin. Take care of my flora, mhm?” Aunty Rosie ushered the prince to the princess and let her bring the tea to their table but Seungmin insisted on helping her. A small fight broke out between them, Y/N witnessed it, and she giggled.
A sulky Seungmin arrived at the table along with Aunty Rosie, whose lips had stretched into a proud smile. Y/N was elated to see someone could let that smile dominate the figure whom she’d called mother. They thanked her for breakfast, and the sulky face didn’t subside from Seungmin’s features throughout breakfast, causing laughter to burst from her.
“Come on, Seungmin. Sulking doesn’t suit you.” She joked although it sounded awkward. Somehow, it managed to light up Seungmin’s mood. They finished breakfast and Y/N brought her around the city while introducing some of the villagers to him.

After the long stroll, she figured his legs couldn’t go for another mile(alluding to him constantly asking for a break) but Y/N didn’t blame him, the beaming afternoon sun sure burned some energy from him as well. Lacing her hand with his, she led him back to Aunty Rosie’s bakery. As dumbfounded as he was, he let her take control over his steps despite knowing the kind woman was out with her husband that afternoon. Whatever they were doing, Seungmin hoped they spend a blissful day in their late age.
She went to the side of the bakery, halting on her steps. She rummaged through her blouse’s pocket, searching for the silver key her mother gave her. Inserting the key into the hole, the bottom of the metal door ran against the rock, letting out a low rustling as she pushed the door.
Seungmin didn’t ask so much about their whereabouts, he believed Y/N wouldn’t bring her to a creepy or odd place, right?
Soon, a meadow filled with flowers of many kinds entered his vision. The air in here became thinner and he saw a single tree growing tough in the middle of the field. As expected, the girl pulled him toward the tree.
“Welcome to my first haven,” She uttered, lying on the grass. The grasses were poking her back but she didn’t bother to sit, the evening sky was gorgeous not to tear her gaze for a moment. Seungmin settled beside her, shifting his weight to the tree, legs spreading on the grass.
“Why did you call it your haven? Shouldn’t it be your palace instead?”
“My palace is home but living there began suffocating me when I was 8. Something happened and they didn’t allow me to get out of the castle”
“That accident must have caused trauma to them that they took one step further protecting you”
She chuckled, glancing at him “It did. Anyway, this place was the only place I could feel a sense of freedom. Look at this wide field, the 8 years old I will run around while screaming”
“Then what is your second haven?”
“My second haven is a person. It's my best friend, Chan and he’s a fairy. He’s my real haven. A moment with him never wasted without laughter and smiles”
She couldn’t hold back a smile every time she opened up a story about Chan, the image of the man always managed to creep a smile on her face. Every memory they spent was vivid in her mind and she held each of them dearly.
“A fairy?” Surprise hinted at his tone until she needed to raise her head to see his reaction. Luckily it was the expression she was looking for; a pair of eyes glimmered in excitement toward her. It was a rare sight from someone.
“I always heard of them in the storybook. I didn’t know they co-exist with us! Can’t I meet him? He seems like a great man”
“About that, I will find time for both of us”
“Thank you! Also, thank you for today. You opened my eyes to Stellious's beauty and gave me a chance to get to know you”
“No, it’s all thanks to you. You snapped me out of my little fantasy. I realised I closed my heart to everyone when I met Chan but he isn’t the one I blame. It’s me. While chasing my freedom, I forgot the one who taught me what freedom was”
“Maybe I thought, if I had Chan by my side, no one would be important to me anymore. I was wrong, I need them because they came before him. Soon enough, I will have my husband who will teach me what freedom is”
“Y/N-”
“Having a new company will make Chan and myself happy. Besides…”
She sat beside him, head turning at him, giving him a smile
“-he would be glad to know I’m in good hands as a queen and as a wife”
Giving it a chance to the prince was a good idea after all.

The flowing water from the flowering pot rained upon the flowers in his front yard. He moved to the other side of the yard to water his other flowers only to stop when a dagger shoved into his neck. The item dropped from its grip as he glared at the intruder. He sensed magic encircled the man but knew too well it didn’t belong to him. Whose magic was it then? His fingers moved, and from behind, roots crept up and bounded the man onto the floor.
“Who sends you here?” He asked and went to the open field, away from the man. The roots will untangle themself any moment now, the magic that was with him was much stronger and dangerous than his, and so was the danger that was lurking. The man kept his mouth to himself and silence consumed them. Chan didn’t expect an answer anyway.
The low crunching leaves caught his attention. He turned his body around and sent a gust of wind with his wings toward the man, hurling him to the other side. Taking the opportunity, he tried chaining the figure with his magic again. His attempt immediately turned in vain, the roots burned.
He hurled at Chan, thrusting his blade toward Chan’s chest. Chan avoided the attack, gripping the man’s hand in advance.
“The king sent you, didn’t he?”
“A fairy shouldn’t exist in the first place” He eyed Chan before twisting his wrist, aiming for Chan’s neck, and it took Chan by surprise. The blade grazed his neck as he pushed himself up to the sky, attempting to escape. He winced as he landed back.
Chan flew toward the man, taking the man by the waist and they crashed into a tree
Chan’s hand wrapped around the man’s neck.
“Tell me, what does he want?!”
“Nothing more than your disappearance from this world”
His jaw clenched. The king had hated them for centuries because of their differences. The hatred wouldn’t die down as long as the king was alive or turned a bit merciful. He tightened the grip, only for it to loosen the moment the scream echoed in the back of his mind – His friend's screams. The man blew a fatal punch to Chan’s cheeks seeing his almost unconscious condition.
The attack continued aiming at Chan’s chest and he could feel his body slowly giving up. Using his power drained a lot of his energy. The man noticed Chan's decreasing speed and movement.
A sharp pain dug into Chan’s stomach as the silhouette of the man left his gaze. He was not running away, instead, someone had pulled him away from Chan. He snatched the dagger as blood oozed out from his new wound.
Dropping to his knee, he heard Taehyun shouting his name.
“Chan, send him back! I can’t block him any longer!” Biting back the pain, he rosed to his feet, limping toward Taehyun. He mumbled a spell, and the male vanished from the forest in a wave of black feathers.
His body collided with Taehyun’s. The blonde hugged the black-haired male, leaning his body against his chest, and pressing his palm into Chan’s wound. A shout burst from his lips and a tear fell.
“It hurts…Taehyun. It hurts!” He winced
“I know. Hold it back just a little more”
In his blurry vision, he saw three figments beside him. Two were lying lifeless on the grass, and the latter stared at them without sympathy, a smirk grew on his lips. He searched for the memory of the day, and he regretted it. Soon, the figment disappeared along with his pain.
“Duncan is helping the king. I sense his magic earlier”
“That’s how they entered this forest?”
“Yes, no human can destroy my shield except Duncan. He’s taking his revenge on me because I refuse to work with him”
“This is just the beginning. They’re coming for me,”
I can’t let my guard down anymore.

A soft humming escaped from the princess's lips as she hooked an earring to her left ear, the little fairy sitting on her vacancy became her sole audience for her little show. Beomgyu snatched a nearby tissue and wrote a message to her with his gold dust. He purposely sneezed to gain her attention. It was his typical way Beomgyu started a conversation in his little fairy form. She stepped closer toward him, leaning into the vacancy.
“You seem happy today, your highness. Did good news reach you?”
“Today is my birthday, Beomgyu and I can’t wait to spend it with Seungmin and Chan!” She unfolded her hand in front of Beomgyu and with a little hesitation, he climbed onto her hand. She began spinning around her room as the thought of spending another day with Seungmin and Chan excited her more than she had expected. Beomgyu had held her palm tightly to control himself from vomiting and flew off her hand.
A knock on the door was all it took to save Beomgyu. The fairy flew out her window when she headed for the door. She opened the door and was greeted by Sara holding a tulip. The maid smiled widely as she expanded her arm toward Y/N.
“Happy birthday, Princess Y/N! I pick up this before I come here.”
“Thank you, Sara!”
“Let’s get your hair done, should we? I can put this flower on your braid if you desire.”
“That will be lovely.”
Sara chuckled and closed the door after her. The rest of the morning was filled with Sara and Y/N’s laughter as they shared what they would do today.

His hand ran through the dresses on display, mind running through every possibility of her reaction to the dress. A frustrated sigh left his mouth as he grabbed a handful of his hair. He averted his gaze to Taehyun who was buying fruits outside the shop he was in. He never thought finding a perfect gift for someone would be this difficult. Buying a gift for his friends rarely crossed his mind because all his friends were temporary.
“Come on, Chan! Think of something.” He mumbled to himself. The store owner had his eyes on Chan for some time, emerged from the counter and walked up to Chan. Amidst his busy customers, he saw Chan had the hardest time choosing, alluding to how long he had been standing at the same place and the constant zoning out.
“I see you are having a hard time choosing. Can you tell me what she likes? I can help you, son.”
Chan’s hand retreated from the dress and faced the old man.
“Oh uhm…she likes flowers and anything to do with nature. She’s like a child when she gets excited over something small. Her brown eyes look so ethereal under the blinding sun, that I would like to stare at them for a long time. She brought a huge change in my life.” A fond smile made its way to Chan’s lips.
“You really love this girl, don’t you?”
Blood pumped onto Chan’s face and he immediately rubbed his right ear when he realised his words sounded like he was in love with Y/N. He vigorously shook his head.
“You took it wrong! She’s like my little sister!”
The old man chuckled and patted Chan’s shoulder in a fatherly manner.
“Whatever you said, son. She must be lucky to have you.”
Chan’s face turned into a much brighter shade of red at his statement. The old man took one dress from the display and presented it to Chan. It was a soft yellow dress with a pink flower motif all over the dress and a puffed sleeve. It was simple, something that Chan didn’t expect to get recommended by the owner.
“I always say to myself that a sincere gift is more worthy than an expensive gift. Let me pack this up for you, son”
The owner returned to the counter. Sincere – why was he worried about Y/N liking the present or not?
After paying for the gift, Taehyun and Chan returned to the cottage. Chan twisted the doorknob and immediately sneezed loudly, causing Taehyun to jolt back in surprise.
“Are you okay, Chan?” He asked and Chan just nodded, looking at the ground. The floor was covered with gold dust that belonged to none other than Beomgyu himself. Taehyun placed his things in the kitchen and dragged Chan to the backyard after he had put the dress in his room.
Taehyun could guess the reason behind this gold dust mess in the living room. Upon pushing the door to the backyard, his guess was right. Beomgyu’s back was facing them and some bunnies were hopping beside him with a pink ribbon stuffed between their lips. Birds were putting ribbons and flowers on trees. Beomgyu’s wings flapped rapidly until a small mountain of golden dust formed under his wings.
“I’m sorry Chan. Beomgyu did this when something excited him” Taehyun had his head down when he spoke.
“It’s fine Taehyun. The tree already cleaned up the mess.” He patted Taehyun’s shoulder.
Chan went to Beomgyu and asked him to make some arrangements for the decorations to which Beomgyu nodded and instructed the animal. The bunnies quickly hop toward the birds, handing the decorations to the birds. Taehyun stood far from the event. A tender smile crept up on his countenance as he observed how the animal approached Chan with ease. Soon, he joined them to prepare for this evening’s celebration.

“Good evening, princess and happy birthday! So, where are we heading today?” Seungmin asked and planted a kiss on the back of her palm. She laced her hand with him and dragged Seungmin into her room swiftly. It had become his routine to visit Stellious because of their wedding.
In the past few days, they had ditched their responsibilities to get to know each other and the kingdom better. The prince had just arrived when she sneaked him inside her bedroom. To say Seungmin was confused was an understatement. The princess childishly glanced at him, causing the young prince to become bewildered once he stepped inside her room. She took the black feather under her pillow and held Seungmin's hand.
“Remember when I said I would bring you to meet Chan one day?”
He nodded with enthusiasm
“Well, let’s go! Close your eyes”
Seungmin shut his eyes and a meadow came into his vision once he unfolded them. The birds' sweet melody greeted his ear and flew above them as if welcoming their arrival to Chan’s little cottage. She pulled him toward the cottage.
“Promise me you won’t be so surprised when you meet him.”
Seungmin raised his thumb and they entered the house.
“Little flora, I’m in the backyard!” Chan’s voice erupted. Without her lead, Seungmin busted into the backyard and his eyes widened in amazement, he never thought he would see fairies that only appeared in his fairytale book. The three fairies halted their action as their gaze met the prince’s glimmering and curious gaze. The animals that were with them dashed away, terrified of the newcomers.
“I’m sorry for not telling earlier but this is Prince Kim Seungmin, my future husband.” She grinned sheepishly.
“It’s alright! Finally, we met in person, Seungmin! Little flora had told me about you a lot.” Chan uttered, smiling at Seungmin. Seungmin replied with a big smile stretched; one that Chan always saw on a kid's face. His glimmering eyes reminded Chan so much of a puppy that his siblings adopted before he left their house.
“I’m delighted to meet you too! I mean the three of you! I thought you guys didn’t exist. Honestly, you guys look even better than I imagined!”
By this time, Beomgyu had turned into a little fairy to hide his blushing cheeks which didn’t go unnoticed by Taehyun. Beomgyu rested on Taehyun’s shoulder, burying his face into the blonde’s neck.
“Where did that ashed-hair fairy disappear?! I never read a tale that said they can vanish right in front of your eyes!”
“I apologise for that, Your Highness. Beomgyu is pretty shy when it comes to compliments. The small fairy on my shoulder is him.”
Beomgyu flew off from Taehyun’s shoulder. A wave of gold dust appeared and under them was Beomgyu, cheeks reddened. Chan chuckled and gently grabbed Seungmin and Y/N’s hands. He gestured to them to sit on the mat in the middle of the backyard.
When they settled down, the princess just registered the decoration the animal had put up. Behind them stood two trees, a string of letters tied on its branches, forming a ‘happy birthday’. A tower filled with dessert and snacks was on the mat as well.
“Did you prepare this by yourself?!”
“With the help of them of course!” He pointed to the other fairies who swiftly entered his cottage when all eyes were on them. Taehyun mouthed something to Chan before fully shutting the door.
“Seriously Chan, you don’t need to prepare all of this. Being with you and Seungmin today is enough.”
“Well, compared to what you had done in my life, this isn’t enough to repay them”
He averted his gaze to the prince and beamed “I hope you enjoy this dessert, Seungmin. Is not much”
“This is more than enough, Chan. Thank you for preparing this!”
The evening went on with Seungmin asking question after question toward Chan. Some questions were odd to ask but Chan answered them honestly nevertheless – it was entertaining he’d say. Their interaction was wholesome to watch. From her point of view, she saw figments of herself and her mother telling tales about the outside world in her bed, a single lit candle witnessed their laughter and smiles.
Out of consciousness, a tear poured down her cheeks. She hastily wiped it off but Seungmin held her hand and glanced at her worriedly.
“Are you okay? Did we make you feel left out or anything?” He asked, panic evident in his voice and she felt the grasp tightened. She rapidly shook her head and cleaned the stain with her free hand. She didn’t know why it had happened either.
“I’m okay, you just remind me of my younger self. Anyway, I’m glad you’re comfortable with him, Seungmin.”
Chan looked up to the sky and immediately grabbed their hand, dragging them to a familiar riverside. Seungmin and Y/N exchanged a confused look when they arrived and Chan simply pointed to the other end of the lake where two mountains stood side by side. The sun was slowly disappearing behind the horizon, and the golden rays mingled with the sky, creating an orange-coloured sky for them to watch.
“It’s gorgeous” she muttered.

He became more infuriated every time he glanced at the dagger on his desk. His assassin promised a beating heart of the fairy in the morning but nothing. Blood coated the dagger and its metallic smell spread throughout the room, causing nausea to anyone who set foot inside. He gritted his teeth as he stood up from the comfort of his chair, palm slamming to the desk.
He threw the dagger across the room and it clattered against the floor, his face was burning red as he marched toward the door. Relying on someone else wouldn’t fulfil his dying hunger so he better take it upon himself.
He rushed to his horse in the castle front yard and shoved Gale away before climbing up on the horse. He gave the horse a harsh slack and it ran out of the castle, the king clenched the rein in his palm as the horse picked up his speed toward the forest. Once the forest registered in his view, he pulled the rein and the horse followed suit, its feet came to an abrupt stop as it neigh.
The king’s eyes widened at the sight of huge blackthorns growing from the ground, concealing the forest’s entrance. It looked impossible to cut it down with a sword. He dismounted from the horse. His knuckles had become white from the strength of his clenched fist, he could feel his nails digging into the skin of his palm.
“You’re a tomato, Your Highness” Someone snickered behind him, causing the king to whip his head to the source. Duncan showed him a smile while tilting his head – a smile that was too eerie to call it a normal smile. He approached the thorn and caressed its harsh surface.
“I’m sorry if that was rude, Your Highness but I believe you need my help?”
“I’ll never beg for help from you, Duncan!”
“Even if your precious daughter is at risk of getting killed? That’s just irresponsible. ” He jeered
His jaw tensened at the statement. “Must I remind you that your people almost killed my daughter?”
“You’re slightly wrong, Your Highness. He was. After he broke the rule, he was simply a betrayer to me” He spun around, resting his gaze on the king’s.
“I believe we have been in this stage before, Your Highness. Don’t be silly; you asked for my help before. You can’t kill him without me, you know that better than anyone” He smirked

Chan’s shoulder suddenly stiffened after a wind washed over him. His eyes observed his surroundings while he stood up.
The air felt heavier.
The hair on the back of his neck stood up.
This wasn’t right…
“Chan? Something’s wrong–”
“Y/N look out!” She heard Seungmin shout before her view was completely covered by Seungmin’s chest and a warm sensation flowed from her forehead. His hand clenched around her shoulder as a grunt escaped.
Her heart stopped beating momentarily when she saw an arrow piercing through Seungmin’s shoulder. Beyond his shoulder, she caught a figure hiding among the trees, preparing to shoot another arrow. Chan cursed under his breath before wrapping his arm around their waist and launching himself into the air.
Although it began growing dark, she could make out the figure. Oh, how she wished the sky was coal black.
Chan landed on the ground and quickly screamed for Taehyun and Beomgyu. The called fairies exited the house and horror was written on their faces. They helped Seungmin into the house and pulled the arrow out. Seungmin chewed his bottom lips as Beomgyu cleaned up the wound.
“It’s going to be alright, Your Highness” Taehyun comforted as he hovered his hand on Seungmin’s wound. His hand glowed and before Seungmin’s eyes, his skin began attaching itself. A small gasp bubbled out from Seungmin as he ran his fingers over his injured shoulder – there weren’t scars or invisible marks.
Chan’s fist clenched as he headed to the door. Seungmin shouldn’t be injured, it should be him instead, the prince was innocent. She noticed his behaviour, grabbed his wrist, and shot him a begging look.
“Whatever is inside your head, please don’t do it. I don’t want you to be injured after Seungmin“ She pleaded, the edge of her eyes began brimming with tears. Chan released himself from her grasp gently and shook his head
“Stay with Seungmin, promise me. Return to the castle after this, don’t wait for me.”
He gave her a forced smile. His footsteps echoed through her ear and she swore her vision blurred briefly. In her blurry vision, she saw Chan’s gigantic wings facing her while huge orange flames devoured everything around her. She heard him muttered sorry to her before darkness consumed her.
Was that her imagination or a piece of her forgotten memories?

The crackling of the fire camp under the chimney had become her company as she clenched the pink dress Chan gave her yesterday. She rested her elbow on her knee, bouncing as long as she could count, face buried into the soft material. Yesterday’s accident caused a memory to surface back. She can’t shut her eyelid without deciphering it.
What happened? She couldn’t grasp any vivid memory of it. She was young, maybe recalling was useless. How hard she wrecked her brain, all she could remember was the bright orange and red flame engulfing her, her throat was in pain and a thick layer of mist clouded her vision.
“Y/N, why are you up this late?” The sweet voice of her mother snapped her head toward it. Y/N’s gaze followed the woman’s silhouette until it settled on the chair across hers.
“Nothing. I couldn’t sleep. Maybe I’m overthinking my future. You know overthinking is envious of my good sleep sometimes.”
She offered her mother a tender smile before taking her hand into hers. Rubbing her thumb over the wrinkly skin of her mother, she pecked it. This hand takes care of her, bled before and maybe had soaked in her tears while she was a careless little girl.
She was ashamed as she was too late to realise her selfishness. It was a selfish act to forget the one who gave you freedom and happiness. The queen’s hand touched the princess’s cheek and caressed it softly.
“I’m here if you have any problem. I’m here if you want to rant about anything… including Chan.”
Her eyes widened in surprise. “You knew?”
“Ever since you were 8. I met him a few days ago and I’m glad he’s the one you met. Do know I welcomed him as your friend” She smiled and relief washed over her, easing her mind from the possibility of her mother loathing him too.
“I’m always by your side, sweetie. No matter how devastated or ecstatic it is. Now…” She rose to her feet, approaching the princess. She kissed on top of her head, her lips lingered on her temple before pulling away.
“Go to sleep. I promise you, whatever is in your mind, won’t be a big matter as you wake up tomorrow.”
“Wait, mom…” She immediately stood up and pressed her lips tightly. It had been a long time since the word left her and a lump formed in her throat, causing difficulty for her to utter it.
“Can I hug you?”
“What kind of question is that? Of course, you can, dear” She rushed into her mother’s arms and buried her face into the crook of her neck. Her scent acted as a blanket, engulfing the princess in warmth and comfort – something she didn’t realise until now. It brought ease to her troubled mind, in her arms she could breathe again.
“Thank you, Mom.”

[1 week later]
To see everything set up for her wedding was something out of her childhood dream and she was speechless. The day she wouldn’t think come, she would face it sooner than expected.
“Why did they push the date forward?” Seungmin asked as they walked around the store, picking flowers to decorate the castle’s entrance.
“They see progress in our relationship. They act fast when opportunity strikes.” She pointed to the flower in front of them and the worker quickly jotted it in her book. She turned to Seungmin, taking his hands into hers and exited the shop. The last week went by in a blink, the preparation for the wedding kept them busy until they didn’t realise how much time had passed. It was refreshing to step outside again.
“Don’t you think they’re in such a rush?”
Her steps halted beside a post lamp, gaze stuck on the wanted poster. Her blood ran cold as she saw the sketch of the man. Seungmin followed her gaze, leaning down beside her ear.
“Isn’t that Chan?” he whispered.
Wanted…It only meant that Chan was in a death or alive situation. How long has it been here? But given he’s a fairy, there’s no way a human could kill him.
Right?
“I shouldn’t be standing here doing nothing to prevent this.” She was going to flee from the town but Seungmin swiftly grabbed her arm and tugged it, causing her to land on Seungmin’s chest.
“Don’t. Doing this will put Chan, Taehyu, Beomgyu and even you at a much bigger risk! Your dad is searching for him, think about the consequence of your imprudent action, Y/N. Believe me. If you help him or something, that will make your dad more furious than he is.”
The king wouldn’t put up a wanted poster if someone weren’t a threat to the kingdom.
Heavy footsteps came into a pause behind them. A light tap on her shoulder caused Y/N to force a smile onto her countenance as she spun around, meeting face-to-face with her carriage driver.
“The king wants to meet you in an instant.” He opened the door, palm unfolded as if inviting her to climb into the vehicle.
“See you later.” She glanced at Seungmin before entering – Speaking of the devil.
Once the horse stopped, she instantly hopped off the carriage and headed to the king’s office. His right-hand man opened the door, and his announcement of the princess's arrival echoed through the room. Her father’s back was facing her when she entered. His hands rested on her hips as he watched the outside view with a smile.
“Why do you want to meet me, Dad?”
He turned around, approached her and pulled her in a hug. Her body turned tense under his arm. Something was odd, he rarely does this. The king loosened his grip, giving an indecipherable smile before letting go of her figure.
“Do I need a reason to see my daughter? Anyway, how is Seungmin? Is everything fine?”
“We’re still awkward but I’m sure that won’t last long.”
“I’m relieved to hear that and glad I pushed the date. So, you don’t care about the fairies mhm?”
Infuriating crawled inside her, and her fist slowly balled up. She averted her gaze down to the floor, shutting her eyes to compose herself. Showing him that she cares about them will put them in danger.
Held it back, Y/N
“The fairies? Why do you ask about them? They shouldn’t be in our conversation.”
“Oh! I think they should. I don’t want them to destroy your future, Y/N”
“How are they capable of that?”
The king walked to his desk, collected some scattered paper and handed them to her.
Aged pictures of corpses. It was Duncan’s work, she knew only because of Beomgyu's visit. If Beomgyu didn’t come that night, her trust in Chan would crumble even more. It was hard to remain calm given the tension slowly building inside the room.
“They’ll kill you if you’re too close to them, darling. I can’t let that happen to my sweet daughter.”
She quickly brushed off his previous reason as an excuse when she saw his sinister grin. It was clear that he was persuading her to abandon the fairies.
“Then, don’t do anything. Don’t kill them”
“YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND!” He gripped her shoulder, tight enough to notice his anger began taking control of him. She darted her eyes to his face, his eyes were shaking – They screamed fear. He was afraid of the idea his plan would come to a pathetic ending.
“Understand what? What’s the difference between you and them if you kill them? Nothing! Both sides are monsters.”
She escaped his grip and left the room, passing past a silhouette whose hands were hanging after the attempt to call the princess was vain. The figure stayed where it was, hearing the king’s scream in frustration.
“I want his heart on my desk tonight! No matter what the circumstance is!”
Her hand clenched her dress, running away from the place before the king noticed her appearance there.

“Beomgyu, you need to help me,” She said to the tiny fairy sleeping on her table. Beomgyu woke up, rubbing his eyes softly before tilting his head. She slid a sealed letter to him.
“Give it to him. It’s important”
He nodded and stood up, balancing the big envelope behind him before flying off, leaving scattered shining dust on the wooden surface.

That night, she was at Chan’s cottage. What her father said didn’t sit right with her, causing the worry to overflow. Hugging her knee closer to her chest, she shivered in the night breeze. It was chilly tonight, and wearing thin clothes doesn’t provide warmth. She rested her chin on her forearm, watching the tiny creatures dancing on the water's surface. The creature seemed to be created by flames.
They move elegantly with their partner, and the water vibrates under their feet. The creatures beamed her a smile every time their gaze met and continued waltzing, drawing gorgeous paintings on the untouchable surface for humans. The drawing accompanies the stars' reflection.
A blanket suddenly draped around her. “Are you planning to get a fever tomorrow?”
Chan sat beside her. She chuckled while shaking her head.
“If I did, I’m running to you first so you can take care of me.”
“Then? I get sick too?”
“Yes! It would be unfair if I’m the only one who gets sick.”
He glanced at her with the are-you-for-real-now look to which he received a giggle. His hand reached for the end of the blanket, pulling it to cover her body.
How long will this stay?
“The creatures are beautiful, chan.”
“And stunning.”
“Just like you”
She turned her head toward him, smiling tenderly. A silence lived up to the surroundings as they stared into each other’s eyes. Red tints slowly climbed into Chan’s cheeks as his eyes roamed elsewhere as long as it was not her face.
“I like how your eyes reflect the stars above.”
“I like how your hug feels like a warm hot chocolate after a full day from work.”
“I like your wings. Your so-called hideous black wings. Whenever you bring me up to the sky, a new world unfolds. A world that I’ll never experience if I don’t meet you”
“Even if there are a thousand people who want to be my home, I will always choose you”
“It never changes, I promise you”
His cheeks and ears burned from all of the compliments. Hearing tons of compliments from people was normal, he got it all the time when his friends were still alive. None of it made him flustered like this. Was it because of how long their friendship lasted? That hearing was enough to engulf him in a warm feeling.
He observed the creatures, unsure of a reply.
“Thank you, little flora. You were the best gift the universe had given to me”
The simpler the better
“The same goes for you” She laid on his lap, pinching his rosy cheeks. His eyes widened, and she ignored it.
"Are you okay, Chan?"
He nodded, removing stray hairs that were blocking her view.
"Why do you ask?"
"Beomgyu told me that the army attacked you several times. Every time he says that I want to check up on you but Beomgyu asked me to focus on my wedding."
"He's right but you don't need to worry too much. I'll be fine because Taehyun and Beomgyu will be there to protect me. Your wedding is much more important now. While we're at it, I'm excited to attend your wedding!"
"You will be gorgeous in a wedding dress, little flora. I can do a little touch-up. A small fairy touch will make everyone speechless with your beauty!!"
His eyes glimmered in excitement
"Promise you'll be there?"
"Of course!"
He intertwined his pinkie with hers.
“What time is it now?”
“It’s…midnight”
“Happy birthday, my dear fairy godfather” Her eyelids closed as her head felt lighter on his lap. Chan’s gaze turned soft and he ran his slender fingers through her brown locks.
“You remembered my birthday…”
He lifted her and appeared in her room. Flying to the palace could wake her up, he doesn’t want to risk the possibility. He placed her on the bed, their intertwined pinkies didn’t go unnoticed by him.
“Thank you for making me alive again, little flora”
Will this be the last time?
He doesn’t know what the future holds for them.
Was it possible to be scared of tomorrow?
Duncan’s on their side, eliminating him is easy now.
He might get killed tonight, tomorrow or in his sleep.
He never knows
We never know.

She leaned her head on her arm and watched the raindrops pattering down on the window. Her eyes fell on Seungmin standing across her, one of his hands holding a loaf of bread and the other carefully slicing the bread. Next to him, the contents of the pot were boiling, and the steam mixed with the smell was wafting through the kitchen.
The kitchen was empty, as the king had excused his workers for the day, saying that today was their glorious day. She was speechless and her stomach churned at the thought of anything happening to Chan. Last night’s nightmare and the absence of Chan in the morning only intensified the eerie whispers in her head.
Chan would be fine, and Taehyun and Beomgyu would protect him if the worst happened.
Fortunately, Seungmin came to her rescue. His offer to cook his favourite dish and lend an ear to her story was so tempting that she had to accept it. It had been pouring since the morning, so everyone, including her, had to stay inside or they would get soaked.
And it was something new for her…normally, on days like this, she would leave the house and play in the rain with Chan until one sneezed – it acted as a sign for them to stop and return to the fireplace to warm themself.
The soft knock on the table interrupted her thoughts as she glanced up and saw Seungmin’s small smile before he sat before her. On the table was a plate with slices of bread and a bowl of soup, the smell of which made her stomach growl. When she heard it, a chuckle escaped her lips as her face began to turn red.
“It’s just a simple dish that my mom taught me when I was having a bad day,” Seungmin said as she took a spoonful of the soup and popped it into her mouth. Seungmin unconsciously chewed on his lower lips, his fingers rubbing together as he silently observed every change in her facial features. He had never cooked for anyone before.
Her eyes lit up with surprise and she let out a hum. Seungmin’s shoulders slumped in relaxation when hearing it.
“Thank you for cooking this, min!”
“You’re welcome! I hope it helps you forget the nightmare.”
She continued to enjoy the food and he turned his head toward the pile of paper resting on the table along with the food, he sighed. He propped his head on his palm.
“The marriage is next week…are you prepared for it?”
His smile disappeared instantly after asking it. If it were him, he would answer no – not when everything felt rushed and out of place. A wedding in the middle of a hunt for her best friend and his newfound fairy friends, how could the king think it was a good idea?
A wedding should take place in a peaceful setting…
Scoffing, she put the spoon aside. “Does my answer matter?”
“Of course it does! It's about your future, which everyone has to decide for themselves!” Frustration resonated in his voice as he buried his face in his palm. She giggled and took his hand.
“Honestly, I’m not, but since it’s with you, I don’t mind. I’m looking forward to our future,” she said and he could hear his heart beating aggressively against his ribcage as he rubbed his slightly flushed ear.
He turned his palm and intertwined their fingers. “Thank you for giving me a chance, Y/N. I promise I’ll take care of you for your family and Chan. Oh, talking about Chan, I’m excited to meet him after this!”
“I’m still glad that you get along with him well.”
“He and the other are so kind …I don’t understand why the King wants to kill them.”
She didn’t understand either.
After finishing the dish, she cleaned it up and headed to her bedroom with a container filled with cookies they baked earlier. They will be heading to Chan’s cottage later since Seungmin needed to clean the kitchen’s mess first.
She placed the container next to the black feather and sat on her study desk. The branches had been dancing and beating against the window pane since she had entered. She paid less attention to it and let her gaze wander into the forest. Her memories of Chan surfaced in the back of her mind.
Ten years had passed since their first encounter, but it still felt like yesterday. How soft his dark wings were beneath her delicate fingertips, the confused look they exchanged and the first invitation that led to their friendship today.
A small smile tugged on her lips as she remembered that moment. A gust of wind slipped through the creaking window sill, pushing an untouched letter towards her. She reached for the letter and opened it while tilting her head, brows furrowing.
Why she didn’t notice it? How long had it been here?
Her eyes immediately noticed a smudged red stain at the end of the letter. A loud thud echoed through the room before she could make out the words on the paper. She jerked her head around and her eyes widened at the sight of a figure lying on the floor.
She ran over to him and helped him to lean against the bed. He was half conscious, his eyelids tightly closed, when a soft moan sounded.
The grip on his wounded stomach tightened as he struggled against the pain. A thick red liquid flowed slowly from his hand and spread over his wet shirt.
“Beomgyu! What happened?” There was a note of panic in her voice.
“An…attack. The Stellious army is attacking us. We're trying to stop them, but someone is helping them.”
The door flew open and Seungmin rushed to her side, pressing on Beomgyu’s wound to stop the blood from gushing out so much.
“Why are you here?! Why aren't they here?!” Her body trembled with fear.
She was worried about Chan.
Her gut feeling was right. Her nightmare wasn’t a demon game.
“Chan sent me to warn you. He asks you to stay put and not look for him” A cry escaped Beomgyu’s lips. She pulled a box from under her bed and took out bandages and a sewing kit.
“This is going to be painful, Beomgyu. Please hang in there.”
She took her hand from the wound, revealing bloody, torn skin. It was a sword gash.
She dabbed the bandage around the wound, cleaned up the excess blood and began to stitch, though the metallic fluid didn’t seem to stop. Seungmin held Beomgyu’s hand. By the time Beomgyu’s wound had sewed up, her hands were coated with blood.
She stared at her trembling hands while thousands of scenarios played out simultaneously in her head and a wave of dizziness and nausea washed over her. She stood up and grabbed the feather, her hands clenched around it.
With glossy eyes, she spared Beomgyu a glance.
“Princess don’t!” He pleaded with watery eyes
“I’m sorry, Beomgyu!”
Beomgyu jumped towards her and tried to stop her, but it was too late. His action hurt him even more as he landed on his injured stomach.
The wave of dark dust engulfed her.

Her heels froze on the ground as the sight of the ordeal presented itself to her. The grass was covered in blood and the rain soaked the corpses. Swords and arrows all covered in the same liquid scattered across Chan’s front yard. A field of blood
A field where they used to dance and play
Y/N’s POV
"My dad said magic is dangerous because it can make people selfish. He always said that those born with magic are evil," I uttered, staring at the soil in my palm. You twirl your finger around the soil and a purple crocus emerges, unfurling its beautiful violet-purple petals. You plucked the flower, wiped off the excess soil and tugged the fresh blossom to my ear – I loved how a smile immediately dominated your face.
"Yes, for some people, but I'll never be like them. Anyway, do you want to see something amazing?"
"Sure!"
You stared at one of the trees nearby, your grey eyes glowing a bright colour compared to your dull eyes, which I found incredible. The branches of one of the trees came towards us, forming a circle beneath me and lifting me into the sky.
I shivered from the height, but that subsided when I saw the scenery, The Stellious Kingdom. The view from up there was amazing, like you said, breathtaking even. You were next to me, hugging me gently from the side.
Was it possible to feel comfortable around someone you've only known since yesterday?
"Why would Dad and Mom hide such scenery from me, Channie?" I turned my gaze to you, hoping for an answer.
"I don't know, little Flora."
"They always lock me in the palace, I've never been allowed out. Except yesterday."
"Maybe they're trying to keep you away from any danger. Besides, not everyone you meet in the future has a pure heart"
I sighed "You're right. My parents know what dangers can come my way if no one takes care of me, but I feel safe with you, Channie."
"Thank you, little Flora. I feel safe and happy in your company, but you must tell your mother before you come to see me, mhm?"
You were wrong, Chan, danger was always at my side and held me hostage.
How could he?
Tears gathered under my eyes as my heart beat faster. I whirled around, my hand wrapped around the doorknob. My hands kept slipping as I tried to pry the door open. My knuckles turned white when I finally managed to turn the doorknob.
The pattering of the rain faded away from my hearing and was replaced by the sound of my heartbeat. A soft gasp was all I could produce.
Was this what he meant by glorious day?
"This place is fantastic!!! Can I come here often?" I asked with a hopeful tone. You sigh as you fetch two cups of tea, placing one in front of me and sitting opposite me.
"Only if your mother lets you"
When I heard your reply, I immediately sulked. I know they won’t like you
"Mom certainly wouldn't allow it. She's too strict and also busy with Dad," I crossed my arms and pouted.
"Then sure. You can come here. Do you like reading? I still have tons of unread books on the shelf."
"Yes, yes!!! I love books!” You emerged and picked up some books. You handed them to me. I gasped and started turning the pages and getting engrossed in the story. Minutes passed and you just stared at me, a few careless giggles escaping my lips as I imagined the scene in my head.
"Reading books is the only way I forget that I'm alone and stuck in the palace. When I read, I feel like I'm not in that dim room," I blurted out, lifting my gaze and meeting your eyes. You were taken back for the second time that day
"Me too. It helps me forget my pain" You calmly replied
"I'm glad I've someone who thinks like me"
I laughed and read on. I was glad that I had met someone who could understand me for the first time. The hours passed and the sun began to hide behind the horizon and welcome the moon. You, who noticed the change, quickly spoke up
"It's getting late, little Flora. Let's go home, shall we?" I nodded vigorously, closed the book and hugged it tightly to my chest.
And the dam broke and gushed into my cheeks. I rushed to the lifeless body in the middle of the cottage. Each step I took grew heavier as I tried to deny the truth in my head.
No, this is a dream
It must be
I sank to my knees and pulled your head into my lap. My tears fell on your pale face … since when has your face been so pale?
One night I woke up and realised that you weren’t lying next to me in bed. I looked up and the guilt consumed me. I was sleeping on your lap, you hadn’t moved me. I sat, leaning against the wall, next to you.
You sleep fitfully because of me. I let your head sink onto my shoulder and your arm wrapped around my waist. I ruffled your hair before sleep engulfed me again.
“Hey, Channie, wake up,” I whispered, resting my forehead on yours. My arms wrapped around your shoulders and pulled you close. It felt empty without you returning my embrace.
You must be freezing, right?
Is this the end?
“You promised to accompany me at my wedding. You promised me that you would show me your drawing”
“I’m sorry, Chan. I wasn’t there for your last moment,” I sniffled. I would no longer feel your warm hand wiping away my tears. I wouldn’t hear your laughter anymore. No one will accompany Seungmin and me to the river anymore.
Your smile in the back of my head will hurt me now.
Loud footsteps startled me and I jerked my head towards the source and saw Seungmin and an injured Taehyun. I opened my mouth, but nothing came tumbling out.

I stood before the grave as Seungmin and Taehyun pushed the last lumps of dirt into the hole. I pulled the blanket tighter around my body. The stain on my cheeks was abandoned as I knew it was pointless to wipe them off.
You were six feet under the ground ... next to your parents.
Suddenly I remembered your siblings. How would they react? Would they react like me or even worse?
“Thank you for everything, Chan.”
This is our last goodbye, Bang Chan

I arrived at my room with new clothes after Seungmin asked me to change. I looked over at Beomgyu and Taehyun who were sleeping in my bed, their clothes still soaked with blood and rain. My heart wrenched with guilt as I remembered that my father was the cause of their injuries and Chan’s death.
It was surreal to say this out loud. It felt like the aftertaste of biting into a poison ivy.
They can’t leave the castle yet, the army has probably moved through the forest looking for the fairies.
I went to my desk and picked up the diary Taehyun had given me. It was your last gift to me. Did you foresee your death, Chan?
I sat down on the floor and began to read the entries. A thin smile appeared on my lips. You wrote a lot about your siblings and me, even about the moment your parents died.
Until I stopped at a page. The page was half torn, and the uneven edge showed a sign of hesitation. Why did you want to throw it away?
: I was supposed to kill the princess tonight, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. She's just a little girl! How could I? You can’t blame me, no one can, unless they’re evil enough. I set the bakery on fire because Flora was there alone. When I heard her screaming for her mother, something within me ached. The guilt I felt back then has never gone away.
I rushed back into the house, hugged her tiny silhouette and threw myself onto the roof before the bakery exploded…. before she died. There are long scars on my wings now. I think of them as a gift for saving the girl. So I can remember that was my last mission before I left Duncan. Duncan would kill me now, wouldn’t he? If this is my final entry, consider I’d die in Duncan’s hands. I don’t think I will make it out alive the next time I meet him.
A dot appeared on the page, one after the other. I buried my face in the book. I found it harder to breathe, my mouth was gasping for air to fill my burning throat.
Is that true? You wrote it. You won’t lie in your diary.
An arson… that was the accident. He was misunderstood.
He was a villain who wanted to change, but fate betrayed him. The king had never considered what one must do to survive. He had not considered that a family grieves when it learns of the death of a loved one.
My arm fell to my side and I flinched as I felt the cold on my finger. I looked up and saw a dagger, the dagger I had brought with me from the cottage. A voice told me to pick it up and I did.
I stood up and marched to the king’s office.
But Chan promised himself that he wouldn’t do it again.
I opened the door quietly and walked towards him. He was staring through the window at the city.
You don’t deserve this ending
I raised the dagger, my nails digging into my skin with rage. Was it rage? Or just despair?
Out of the blue, a hand was shoved into my mouth and the other held my hand from behind. The figure dragged me out of the room. The silhouette of the king slowly disappeared from my field of vision as tears welled up in my eyes.
