Small Things - Tumblr Posts
After slugging through the healing process for the last 3.5 years, I feel comfortable enough giving this kind of advice:
Find those little things that made you happy before. You may be surprised to find that they will add little lights of happiness in your life once again.
I powered through the entire Poirot series a few months ago. I used to watch it with my parents on Masterpiece when I was young, but I hadn’t seen every episode, particularly the newer seasons.
It’s so stylish and lovely. I love Art Deco, not that I’m an expert, and they show just the most beautiful clothing, housewares and architecture. I always loved Suchet’s portrayal of our favourite Belgian detective.
I would never have been able to watch something like this with him around. It would be ‘boring’ or just generally a waste of my time.
Being able to watch it again was like a fuzzy blanket. Or a warm cup of tea. So soothing and wonderful.
Small things can make a big difference, and I encourage you to indulge in those small things you enjoy. “Everything matters” as Poirot would say.

The small things
Looking back on @jackalopiel‘s post, I just want to add onto it because same!!! The small things are so nice. Not the big picture, the tiny details you’ll mention once in passing and never again but that really shape who you are. Tell me some mundane, small things about yourself, please!! I’ll start:
I really like KitKat but I rarely ever buy it because something else always catches my eye.
I’ve played flute for a while but I still write down the letters for the notes because I’m bad at playing and reading notes at the same time.
I really like library books and I always have some borrowed but I keep forgetting to return them.
I really like the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino, but my country doesn’t sell them so I drink the Cookies & Cream Frappuccino instead. Your turn!
I love the stories and little ghosts I get to bring home from the antique store. I love to fantasize of who their ower once was. I love being able to cherish just as they did, beautiful tea cups, scarves, and knickknacks.
I just bought a men's XL hoodie for $2 at a thrift sale and it was the best $2 I've spent in a long time. Like oh my gosh I feel like nothing can go wrong. I'm invincible. I feel so safe and protected. Bro I've been on antidepressants for years and no pill has ever made me feel so safe and so contented. I never want to take it off. I'm going to live in this hoodie now and no one can stop me.
Signature Reform
Notice to my Deviantart and Tumblr accounts that, from the next publication, I will use one and only signature.
The signature that I will use from now on will be the one that I am currently using on Instagram.
(It's the same one I've been keeping on every post along with the sandynorthstart watermark)
This is an easier fix for me, as having two signatures is confusing in the long run and could lead to some misunderstandings.
(I'm thankful that hasn't happened yet)

(Miniature) couch restoration
I found this couch ( with a bunch of other things I didn't care about) for 2$ at a second hand store
Finding dollhouse miniatures is kind of rare around here so I grabbed it, I thought at worst it would be a cheap MDF off of AliExpress or something and I could repaint it, but once I scraped a bit of the paint off I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice wood finish!
There was at least 3 to 4 layers of paint through (‘◉⌓◉’) (white, gray, maybe white again and finally pink)
Out of curiosity I pried up the fabric which was obviously not the original, to find another unoriginal fabric and pried that up too and that was still not the original 🤣 matroshka doll of upholstery
After huffing 99% alcohol and paint brush cleaner for probably 5 or so hours I ended up with this
I left the back and seat of the couch rough as it would be covered in fabric anyway, it looks like that maybe at some point this got sanded in a few spots? I fixed it up by finally using my furniture repair markers as intended (mostly I don't think they had mini furniture in mind)
You can see on the left half where I tried different colours to see what would match best
Now new upholstery! I only had the original couch cushion seat so I decided to just redo the whole thing in silk of corse (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧
I wanted it to look a little worn so I picked this really textured blueish green/cream dupini silk
From barbie would be embarrassed to have this in her house to Victorian centerpiece! Or well I would like to think so ;;;
