Fyodor Dostoevsky , The Brothers Karamazov
someone take the monster energy and classic literature away from me I'm getting too deranged

Boys when the classic literature starts to taste vaguely like their actual experiences.
i love you grushenka youre the only one who gets it
‘ “I don’t repent shedding your blood!” he cried. “Beware, old man, beware of your dream, for I have my dream, too. I curse you, and disown you altogether.” ‘
Fyodor Dostoevsky, from “The Brothers Karamazov”, originally published in 1880. (translated by Constance Garnett)
"[...]: his resolution did not give him peace."

“Why do evil?” “So that everything might be destroyed. Ah, how nice it would be if everything were destroyed! [...]."
-Fyodor Dostoevsky, from ’The Brothers Karamazov’, first published in 1880. (as translated by Constance Garnett)
"Brigandage was an access of heroic folly and desperate savagery, a desire for wreaking death and ruin, with no hope of final victory. "If the world had only one enormous heart, I'd tear it out," said Caruso, one of the most fearful brigand chiefs."
-Carlo Levi, as translated by Frances Frenaye, from ‘Christ Stopped at Eboli’, first published in 1945.
Dostoevsky writes like he’s desperately trying to reach a 15,000 word count on a paper that’s due at 3am and he hasn’t slept in three days and he’s also a little high(it helps him focus)

Above all, don't lie to yourself.
The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, so loses all respect for himself and for others.

And having no respect he ceases to love.
Fyodor Dostoevsky ( The Brothers Karamazov)

"People, People. Endless noise. And I am so tired. And I would like to sleep under trees; red ones, blue ones, swirling passionate ones."
A strange poll, I know. But still. For those, who read "The Brothers Karamazov" by F. M. Dostoevsky.
If the transliteration in the English translation is different, my apologies.
To alyosha Karamazov only
I hope you're having the greatest day , my dear .
I absolutely and utterly love you.
im dying over this thread of algorithmically-generated/otherwise low-effort Kindle covers

Just finished TBK don't talk to me

Has anyone done this yet?
when nastasya filippovna wrote “I almost do not exist now and I know it; God knows what lives in me in place of me” and raskolnikov told sonya “Your worst sin is that you have destroyed and betrayed yourself for nothing” and liza said “It has always seemed to me that you would bring me to some place where there lives a huge, evil spider, as big as a man, and we would spend our whole life there looking at him and being afraid” and the underground man was like “It was from feeling oneself that one had reached the last barrier, that it was horrible, but that it could not be otherwise; that there was no escape for you; that you never could become a different man; that even if time and faith were still left you to change into something different you would most likely not wish to change; or if you did wish to, even then you would do nothing; because perhaps in reality there was nothing for you to change into” and ivan said “I must respectfully return the ticket” i. just. Felt that.

My first introduction to TBK was this book cover, so I imagined it illustrates the real Karamazovs: a grand family with bourgeois greedy old men that are ready to tear each other apart for inheritance...
Imagine my confusion when there were only a hot-headed dork, a literal angel and a suffering emo.
Brothers Karamazov is an amazing psychological exploration of character because it showcases three terrible yet very common mental illnesses: the saviour complex (Alyosha), the superiority complex (Ivan) and being an extrovert (Dmitri) 😔
