A/N: I have finallyyyy finished the drabble <3 I'm sorry I took so long, I had to get certain parts of the story to make sense, edit and re-write parts. I hope it's enough to satisfy you all.

The sun dawned in the sky, the grey clouds vanishing. Dewdrops from flowers were dripping on the edge of the dark green leaves. The wind was harsh, making your hair sway. You held onto your blue hood, not wanting to be seen by others. You were carrying a basket full of various fruits, from limes to quince, bananas to oranges, from pears to grapes.
You were lucky this time. Usually, you would see a couple of male farmers from your village early in the morning in the woods, but today, they just didn't come. However, you wanted to seek an important fruit.
The Autumn Apple.
It was the only fruit you had trouble harvesting, mainly since it was so rare to grow here. Last year you found it, hands grasping onto the fruit so tightly in shock. You were so surprised finding it that you tripped over a branch hidden by thick mud. As you had stumbled and rolled on the ground, your hands had let go of the fruit. It tumbled to the nearest stream in front of you, floating away with the cold water.
Your only chance was gone.
Today you tried to keep your hopes up, but it didn't work out. You let out an exasperated sigh, walking back home. Your brown knee-high boots created squelched dins because of the wet soil.
Snap
That's when you turned around, a banana in your hand in defence as your hood fell back. In front of you was a young man. He looked handsome. His skin was smooth, and his dark brown orbs looked enchanting. His hazelnut hair looked so soft that you wanted to touch it. And then your eyes trailed to his lips. They looked so pink and plump.
He took a step towards you, more twigs snapping. You bring your hand out, the banana pointing at him.
"Stay back." You tell him, eyes narrowing menacingly. Of course, he didn't listen. He took another step forward, his finger pushing the banana away.
He held his hands behind his back, bringing out his broad shoulders.
"No need to be so daring." He says, eyes locking with yours. "I was just on a stroll here, and I'm no man here to harm you." You still don't disarm your weapon as the man speaks again.
"Relax, I was just wondering what a beautiful young woman was doing here all by herself."
"What?" You blurt out, blushing at the comment as you hang your head low.
"The name's Jin, and you are...?" He asks. You look back up, answering instantly.
"Y/N, just Y/N." You tell him, smiling slightly. A hasty thought popped into your mind.
"So what are you doing here?" He questions again.
"Oh I'm just looking for an Autumn Apple." You casually tell him before asking him a query back.
"Are you travelling? I've never seen you around here before." You put the banana back in the woven basket.
"No, just stopped by." He answers, still gazing at you. You gulp at the weird awkwardness of his tone. You wanted to leave.
"Well, I have a bakery down the village, do come by if you want." You suggest it to him kindly.
"Of course," he replies as you wave goodbye in a rush. As you were going back, only one thought stayed in your head.
He's new.

You were in the bathroom, washing your hands and face from flour. The last order just went in and, it was nearly nightfall. You made sure you put the desserts away from the display rack, carefully putting them with the rest. Your favourite dessert in the bakery was your mother's simple orange cake. Not too sweet and not too creamy, it was perfect. You dry yourself with a towel, suddenly hearing your mother call you.
"Y/N, there is someone here for you!"
Here at this hour? The store was supposed to be closed.
Jin strolled in, hands in his pockets, quietly admiring the place. It was not new but had this 'home' effect. The interior was wooden, chiselled with fantastic swirls, seats around the place, with perfect little round tables. It was cute. Jin's eyes landed on the empty display glass, a few crumbs were lying in there.
Earlier, when he saw you, he was calmly wandering back to his home, cleaning up some mess he made. He heard you sigh so loud, your expression in irritation. He was hiding behind a tree, watching what you were doing.
"Fuck this," you curse, turning around. He had caught your beauty. You were so beautiful. You were something that he would not harm but would love to take. Your hair was in a cute braid, the blue cloak you wore looked like it was made out of silk due to the glimmer. Gosh, it enthralled him so much. Licking his lips, he steps out, purposely stepping on a weak twig to get your attention.
“Jin!”
He was awoken by your voice. His jaw twitched only for a second, realising it was you.
“Hey there Y/N,” he replies, hands in his pockets, with his eyes gazing around the place.
“I came here to buy a dessert,” he hums “heard it’s the best in the village.” He smiles adorably that you seem to realise you were quite the one to accuse. He just wanted a dessert, nothing else.
And he didn’t follow you here. He just made sure he had to keep an eye on you.
You shake your head slightly, hands tapping lightly against the counter.
“So, what would you like?”
“Do you have any Autumn Apple-related desserts?” His eyebrow quirks up. You put your lips in a straight line.
“Nope.” Making a popping sound of the letter ‘p’.
“Well that’s a shame, isn’t it? I’ve got a whole basket of them back at my place.” He shrugs his shoulders now looking at you.
Say what now.
You swear you didn’t hear him correctly.
“Did you just say you have a whole basket of Autumn Apples?” He nods his head.
“You mean The Autumn Apple, the bright fresh green, bigger sized, kinda weird looking Apple?” You question again.
“Yes.” That’s when you smack your palms on the counter.
“How?”
Jin looks at you surprisingly, on purpose. “Just had my luck I guess.” Resuming back to his current expression.
You scoffed, luck. You had found only one, he probably had a dozen.
“I can give them to you if you want, not my type of taste really, just wanted to pick them out for fun.” He smirks.
You. Were. Shocked.
“Ar-Are you serious?”
“Yeah sure, why not? I mean it seems like you love them and it would probably help your mother’s business out.” He quirks up another smile, bringing a bright merry one to your face.
“I would have invited you right now but, as you see,” he points to a window, “ it’s already nightfall and I’m sure no young woman is supposed to be out this late.”
“Perhaps, come tomorrow, same time and place as we met today.”
You peer at him, wanting to jump over the counter and give him the biggest hug ever. This made you so happy. You were finally going to try The Autumn Apple, and it was going to help out the family business so much that you bet everyone in the village would come rushing to get a taste of it as well.
After all, it was very rare.
“And if I don’t see you, well… the future may not be great anymore.” He tells you quietly, the smile fading away from your face.
“It’ll be great if you come though,” he quickly adds “ haven’t had a common guest in a while.”
“I’ll be going now Y/N.”
You bring back your attention to him, hands finding their way to your apron. You fiddle with it.
“Oh…aren’t you going to buy anything?”
“No, perhaps another time.” And with that, he leaves, the bell tinkling as the door shuts.
Your mother comes in, holding two mugs of warm ginger and lemon tea. The scent hitting your nose.
“Who was that?” She asks, handing you a mug.
You take a hold of it, responding, “Just a fellow man I met.”
“He’s appallingly handsome, invite him over sometime.”
“Mum!”
“Relax, just a general invite, there’s no harm in that.”
She chuckles leaving you a little annoyed.
You hoped the offer would help you. You knew everyone was obsessed with it as well, but many had given up on finding it. But now, you had a chance to do so...or just get it from someone else.

You crept out quietly, the door creaking ever so annoyingly. You assumed that would rouse your mother up since she was a light sleeper. It was chilly outside, the wind making you shiver.
"Out early again?" A voice speaks. You turn around and see a young man, hair tousled, face smudged with wet mud and a little bit of dried blood.
"Out hunting again?" You smirk, tucking your arms across your chest. You see him holding a short bag, certainly an animal crammed in it.
"You know girls like you aren't allowed in the woods or any young girl." The man says, brushing the hair off his face. You sneer slightly, going nearer to him.
"You know I've been doing this for almost months now, Jungkook. Don't try to stop me now." He held his hands up in response, "Don't worry, I'm just doing this for your safety," he continues "have you heard Ji-Soo went missing yesterday?" Your face tenses up, your grasp on your cloak tightened.
"Apparently, she went into the woods last night, looking for an Autumn Apple," Jungkook continues "she was last seen wearing her maroon cloak, you know, the one her father gave her on her last birthday." He pauses, looking directly at you in the eye, squinting.
"Don't tell me you're going just to look for that piece of fruit are you?" You gulp. You knew you weren't the only one looking for it, you even heard Ji-Soo yourself the other day.
"I'm so close to finding it you know? Just imagine the look on my parents face when I get it!" That was the last thing you heard from her. She was so happy and joyous that day. Now you felt like all the excitement drained out of you, seeping into the soil deeply, never-ending.
The roots begin to grow.
You cough, excusing Jungkook as you swiftly tell him a lie. "I'm just getting some bark, need it for the fireplace." You start to stroll past him when he yells, "Be back soon!" You gave a thumbs-up as a reply.
Your house was at the very back of the village, closest to the woods, so it wasn't a daily concern for you to sneak in there. Your boots crunched dried up orange and yellow leaves, pine trees, concealed in them. The sun hit your face abruptly. You peeked up, hearing birds chirping and fluttering their wings. It seemed like a pleasant day today.
The stem is arriving
After treading for a while, you sat down uncomfortably on a gigantic rock, wondering where Jin could be.
However, were you still going to trust this stranger? He was kind when he gave you an offer, thinking about your family as well.
But why?
Was he interested in something? Perhaps you.
You suddenly hear a whistle coming from behind you, waking you up from your trance. You turn to see Jin grinning, standing at a far distance from you. You get up and jog to him slightly, returning the smile. For a second he looked surprised as if he did not expect you to come.
"So where are we heading to?" Your question in eagerness, your head peeking in every direction. Jin laughs softly, his hand slowly and lightly grazing your back, replying, "My home." You stiffen at his touch, taking a step forward as his hand slips away.
Leaves overgrowing
"This way." He leads you away, the sun losing its brightness every time you took a step. The wind felt harsher, howling past your ears, using your cloak to keep you warm. The further you were walking, the further the scenery was changing. From mid-sunny to gloomy clouds, the trees were naked, branches pointed out and sharp leaves falling here and then.
In front of you, the atmosphere became white and thick. Fog, covering your sight, losing Jin as well.
You stop in your tracks, your breathing becoming rapid.
"J-Jin," you call out. No response.
Caws could be heard from crows, twigs snapping, crickets chirping, noises coming from every approach.
Just watch what you do
Without thinking twice, you make a run for it, this place was treacherous, and you were never scared before. You hold on tight to your cloak, your feet stopping you in a sudden rush as you hold yourself back from falling into a deep river, the ground taller than you thought. Bits of dirt and pebbles fall, plopping into the icy water.
You yelp, feeling a hand grasping onto your wrist.
"Woah, be careful you almost missed a step there." You find yourself glimpsing at Jin, pulling you back from almost falling to your death.
Before they keep growing
"We're here," he hums, his hands still grasping onto yours. The fog starts to disappear, two yellow, dim lights appearing in your view, including a little looking cabin. You were walking on a bridge.
Don't trip or you'll be with its friend
Your rapid heartbeat had not stopped yet, as you eye the cabin. The stairs were wooden, including the walls, looking all dusty and grey. Each stair creaking every time you and Jin took a step. Weed and vines encircling around the roof, some of them hanging.
Not everything you desire will be plentiful
The door opens, welcoming you with bright merry lights and a comforting looking home. Jin allows you to sit down on an old couch, looking a little antique. He throws bits of wood into a fireplace, the fire crackling as its orange and yellow flames lick you up with warmth. You settle down, your hand finding its way to your chest, feeling your heartbeat slowing down too.
"You must have been frightened you poor thing, I'll give you something to drink." Jin articulates, glass clinking together as a lid pops open. Fresh apple cider poured into a cup. You lean back as Jin hands you the glass, instantly sipping the beverage, especially after the run you took.
"You should not have ran like that, you would have been dead if you took another step." Jin scolds you, his expression went soft to almost as if he was enraged. He should be, though, you looked like a weak pushover after hearing some disturbing noises.
The roots will keep growing
"I know, I'm sorry Jin, I j-just lost my mind I guess." You stutter, taking another long sip. He smiles, crouching down to your level.
"I'll go get the apples then, just stay here." You stretch, thinking about how the interior of the cabin looked much more beautiful than the exterior. You put the glass away, standing up as you travel around the living room, which was connected by the kitchen, you assumed.
Your hands glided across the small bumps across the walls, leading you to a table with a bowl of fruits and a jug of water. A beautiful looking mat is used for decor. Deep maroon colour with golden linings-
And will get you before you go.
What?
You do not believe yourself for a second. You move away the bowl and the jug, hands scrambling onto the light cloak. The same exact cloak Jungkook described to you what Jisoo was wearing before she disappeared. Your breath gets stuck in your throat. You feel the material again, it was wet. As if the cloak had been washed.
Though, you were not going to play dumb. You were ready to stuff the whole cloak in your small bag but of course, the timing is never perfect.
“Y/N?” Startled you jump, hiding the piece of evidence behind your back.
“I got the apples.” Your eyes travel down to the basket Jin was holding. And to your surprise, there really was a dozen Autumn Apples in there. Your temptation may have helped you through.
You have just found out the reason for Jisoo’s disappearance.
You inch closer to him, grasping onto the handle of the basket, smiling innocently. “Thank you Jin, I’ll be going then.” You try to pull it away from him but his strength stops you from doing so. You fake a laugh, looking at him again.
“What are you doing Jin? I said I had to go.” You try to pry the basket away from him again but he doesn’t allow you to.
“ I know you have it.” He says, eyes contacting. You stiffen, playing it cool.
“Have what?”
“Her cloak.” Before you know it, his hands grabs your wrist, turning you around, your back pinned to his chest, and her cloak falling to the ground.
You gasp, feeling a cold lightweight material, prickling at your neck.
"You weren't really going to run away, were you?" His hot breath fanned past your ear, his chin resting on your shoulder. The small knife still pressed on your neck.
"Jin, I won't tell anyone, I swear." You promise him, you start to feel the warm tears arriving.
"Hm, you were just taking the cloak with you so how about we-" he takes the cloak, pulling you with him in front of the fireplace. Jin throws the cloak, the material flying and landing softly in the fire. The pit of hell. You try tugging your arm, but his grip tightens menacingly, pulling you close to him, inches apart.
"Let's play a game, you run and I'll find." He hums, his lips on your cheek. You squirm, eyes closing shut, the wet tears finally gushing out of you.
How could you be so gullible? So foolish to even trust a man whom you only met for a day. You were too tempted by your desires, and look where it led you to now.
His grip on you loosens as he starts murmuring, "One, two, three..." you were lost for a second, suddenly realising what he was doing. He was giving you time to run. Without wasting another second, you dash out the front door, your boots clacking against the wooden bridge as you hurry over the other side.
Four
You had no idea where you were going, so you took random directions. You just wanted to go, away from him and this wretched, horrid place.
Five
The noises started to come back, but even worse, the caws from the crows were sounding like screeches, and the chirps of the crickets were buzzing so loud you wondered if they were in your ear. You blocked your ears, hands covering them as you run faster, you could hear your own heartbeat through the small gasps you were taking.
Six
However, the fog became heavier and heavier. It was making things much harder to see than hear. You wanted to scream, let everything out of you. You wanted to crumble into a little ball, weeping softly where no one would hear you.
Seven
Your head starts pounding, drops of sweat forming on your forehead. You hear twigs snapping, turning around in impulse, you trip over as you walk backwards.
Eight
You tumble, rolling down the ground like a barrel. Leaves and twigs and anything sharp were scratching the hell out of you. It felt like miniature bullet ants just biting your soft skin, so delicate, so predictable.
Nine
You stop abruptly, hitting your head first on a very thick tree stump and your stomach in pain. You wheeze, feeling every part of you go numb. You feel liquid trickling down, a patch of your forehead bleeding, seeping into the ground. You look up, seeing wide and long branches stretching and twisting. Dark leaves forested the whole tree.
Ten
Letting out a shaky breath, you try to get up using the remaining strength you have, but you're tired. Too tired. Your head rolls onto the left side of your shoulder, you find quite a large hole just next to the tree. You inch closer, using your arm to haul you to it.
You let out a strangled cry. You never expected to see this. Her mouth was agape open, dried blood flowed from it before. Her skin was colourless, her body was lifeless. Those black eyes that used to cherish recollections now vanished. That one smile where no one forgets was no longer moving. And her happiness faded.
"Jisoo..." you mutter, fat tears forming as they drip down your red, abraded cheeks. You choke a sob, towing yourself even closer, grazing her cold chalk-white hands.
As your hand grips hers, you feel something large. Jisoo's fingers were wrapped around something as you manage to get it. Your eyes broaden in shock. It was an Autumn Apple. The very same one Jin was going to give you a whole basket of.
Your breathing slows down, head on the ground, your eyelids shutting down in the count of three.
And behind you was a very happy Jin.
AAA TYSM! I’m so glad you liked this Drabble and you felt certain emotions, these words really makes my day 💜💜

"Wow, two whole months for it to heal? I’m sure it hurt, didn’t it?" Danielle exclaimed, her expression filled with shock as she glanced from your cast to your face. The two of you were seated next to each other during your first period, giving her a chance to closely examine your injury.
"Yeah," you replied with a touch of sarcasm, a sigh escaping your lips as you gazed at the plain, white cast encasing your arm. "Just the sort of thing that can happen when you take up a part-time job at a convenience store. But, my doctor assured me it's not too serious, so this arm should be back to its usual self soon!" You lightly tapped your arm with your free hand, showing her that you’re completely fine.
"Well, it's still frustrating to have to let it heal for that long," she pouted, receiving a light chuckle from you. Extending your uninjured arm, you gently held her hand, offering her a soft smile. "Don't worry, Danielle. Two months will fly by."
You were truly grateful for a friend like Danielle, who consistently showed concern for your well-being. It made you wonder why your life couldn't be filled with people like her instead of people like him. But no, the universe had different plans and had given you Niki, your classmate, or rather your enemy.
This rivalry with Niki had its roots all the way back to elementary school, and due to both of your stubbornness, it had been brought into your high school years. Poor Danielle found herself caught in this mess, being friends with both of you. You did feel bad for involving her, but the blame fell largely on Niki, who seemed to exist solely to get under your skin.
"Does... you-know-who... know about your injury? You guys walk to and from here together," Danielle hesitated, bringing up him in the conversation cautiously. You shook your head and replied, "No, not as far as I know. I actually left a bit early today—oh no."
Your hand instinctively moved to your forehead, the beginnings of a headache forming from the thought. Danielle let out a small gasp, concern evident in her expression. "What's wrong, YN? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, I'm fine—wait, no, I'm not!"
"Why? What's the matter?"
"It's Niki! I just remembered that he's probably going to make fun of my injury for the entire two months." You slumped in your chair, already envisioning the scenarios in your mind. "That asshole."
“You actually got me worried!”
"Sorry, but this is something you should be worried about! Niki's constant teasing might be the end of me!"
"YN, you'll handle it. You both argue every day, anyway," Danielle said with a dismissive tone, not fully grasping how serious the issue felt to you. After all, Niki having another reason to mock you during class was far from trivial.
You sighed, realizing that you really wished for your arm to heal as quickly as possible.
In what seemed like no time at all, the second period arrived—a bit faster than usual. You hurried into the classroom, aiming to get into your seat promptly. But there was no use of that if he’s your seatmate! Just why couldn’t it be Danielle? You silently cursed your teacher for arranging the seating this way. More people started filling the classroom, and Niki’s unmistakable blonde hair caught your attention — he was walking your way.
His gaze fixed strangely on your arm as you withdrew it from the desk, letting it hang at your side. You deliberately avoided meeting his eyes, unwilling to deal with his presence at the moment. The scrape of his chair against the floor caught your ear, prompting you to take a deep breath. "Already pissed?" His voice carried a teasing tone, and you could practically feel the smirk in his words, causing you to roll your eyes.
“Aw, you got my routine down already?” You scoffed, placing your notebook on your desk. You were determined to shut out his annoying voice, but of course, life had other plans. "Seems like it. Just call it the Niki effect, I guess."
"Yeah, a real heartwarming effect," you replied monotonously, your attention shifting to the front of the classroom. In the corner of your eye, you could see him take out a notebook as well. You silently hoped he'd simply focus on his work and not pay attention to you, though it seemed he had different intentions.
“What’s up with your arm?” he points at your injured arm with his pencil. Now that made you wish you could snap that pencil in half. Nonetheless, you managed to maintain your composure, or at least tried to, as you responded calmly. "Oh, you know, just your typical arm-breaking experience. Nothing major—just a cozy two-month wait for it to return to normal."
"I didn't need a breakdown of your recovery process, but I suppose thank you for letting me know,” Niki remarked, adjusting his seat position. "Wouldn't expect any less from someone like you."
Holding onto your pencil, the pressure of it snapped its lead, and you clenched your teeth in frustration. "Do you ever know when to just keep your mouth shut?" you retorted, your tone edged with irritation.
"It's one of my finer qualities—maybe you should catch up," he shot back, a hint of amusement evident in his voice.
"Sure thing. Just do me a favor and stay quiet for two months, will you?"
He raised an eyebrow. "And what's in it for me?"
"Me sparing you from my rude remarks—just not like what you're doing right now."
“Can’t make any promises,” He dragged the last word, making you sigh. He smiled slightly, knowing he knew exactly how to piss you off.

The bell rang, and relief washed over you like a wave. Hastily gathering your belongings, you were so focused on getting out of the classroom that you failed to notice Niki's gaze on you. Slinging your bag over your shoulder, you headed toward Danielle. Unknown to you, Niki's attention lingered, a subconscious concern for your well-being flickering in his mind.
"Niki? Niki!" Jungwon tapped him on the shoulder, causing Niki to start slightly. Wait, what was he doing just now? Before he could analyze his actions, Jungwon pulled him from his thoughts. "You seemed out of it for a bit. Are you okay?"
"Huh? Oh yeah, I spaced out for a second. Let's not miss our third period, alright?" Niki hurriedly packed his things, walking alongside Jungwon, his earlier behavior still puzzling him.
Niki's earlier slip-up had him lost in thought, and it continued especially during P.E. class. His eyes were drawn to you, sitting on the bleachers with a bored expression, casually observing the movement of the others. Then, unexpectedly, you excused yourself and headed toward the nurse's office. Niki found himself continuing to watch you, his focus on you more than anything else around.
"Hey, Niki!" A familiar voice brought his attention away from you, just in time to see a ball hurtling his way. He attempted to react, but the ball had already hit his arm. Wincing, he gripped his arm, a small crowd forming around him. Mr. Kim scolded him, and Niki nodded in acknowledgment—it was his fault for not paying attention.
“Take this pass and go get an ice pack,” Mr. Kim said, already finishing up the pass for him. At first, he contemplated declining, but then he remembered that you were in the nurse's office.
This was the fastest he ever grabbed a pass. His movements were swift as he exited the gym and quickly navigated the route to the nurse's office, hoping he could arrive before you left.
He knocked on the door, and a soft voice invited him in. Stepping inside, he found you seated in one of the chairs. Your surprise was evident as you looked at him, his hand resting on his left arm—the same one you had injured. He observed as he grabbed an ice pack before making his way over to where you were sitting.
In the row of chairs, he left a space between you, taking a seat. Your voice broke the silence, teasingly suggesting, "Starting to think you're obsessed with me." Niki couldn't help but scoff lightly as he settled in.
While you weren't exactly off the mark with your comment, admitting such a thing to you was out of the question. He waved off your words with a dismissive tone, "Me? Obsessed with you? Sure, as if."
A quiet pause settled between you both, and subtle glances were exchanged. Breaking the silence, you remarked, "Seems like you're about to join me, huh?"
He looked at you with confusion etched on his face, only to glance down at his arm and yours—both injured in the same spot. Niki couldn't help but chuckle softly, acknowledging that you were right. "Well, not quite as bad as your situation."
"Shut up." Niki's laughter filled the air, and for the first time, you found his laugh endearing—a thought you quickly brushed off. You simply smiled at his boxy grin. Has his smile always been this charming?
Niki realized he had let his guard down, his throat clearing as he subtly corrected himself. He needed to maintain the distance he had always kept between you two—at least for now.
"What are you doing here?" you started to answer, but he interrupted himself, realizing his mistake. "I shouldn't have asked, I mean, look at your arm."
There was the Niki you still had so much hate for. "If I had both arms, I'd strangle you right here."
"But you can't."
"Yeah, thanks for the reminder, idiot—as if I wasn't already aware," you retorted, rising from your seat. He wouldn't be entirely honest if he didn't admit part of him wanted you to leave. It was strange, but he always felt a certain oddness when you weren't nearby. "Can't wait for you to make jokes about my injured arm at every given opportunity."
Your words sparked an idea in him, and as you turned to leave, he was already formulating a plan — his way of getting closer to you than before.

That's exactly what he did. Every chance he got to be near you, he seized it. His motives remained a mystery – was his plan to push you further away? If so, it was definitely working, as he managed to piss you off with every passing moment. Niki couldn't forget the way you clenched your teeth and let out exasperated sighs whenever he was around. He acknowledged he was being a nuisance, but was there really any other choice?
Could he just flip a switch and suddenly be friendly? That would be too suspicious, wouldn't it? Still, there was an inner push for him to say something decent for once.
And now, here he was, sitting beside you, gazing at your plain cast. Two weeks had already gone by – why hadn't anyone doodled on it yet? He hesitated before gently tapping your arm, causing you to look at him, your expression vacant. You were ready for him to bring up your arm again, almost as if you expected him to repeat his hurtful comments again.
“What? I swear if you make fun of my arm–”
"Can I draw on your cast?" He uttered the words, seemingly without a second thought, catching you completely off guard. Why this sudden change? Could he possibly be planning to write something embarrassing? Then again, your cast did look rather dull, almost too depressing to glance at. But, you still had your doubts.
“What? What if you draw something weird–”
“Come on, I’m not that terrible of a person.”
“Literally who do you think you are–”
“I’m your classmate, loser. Think I can’t be nice for once?” His words left you stunned, and you watched him retrieve a sharpie from his bag. He uncapped it, motioning for your arm to move closer to him. However, you found yourself hesitating, which prompted him to raise an eyebrow ever so slightly. "May I?" he asked.
You didn’t know what went through his head, and yours too! Before you knew it, you were extending your arm to him, watching as he concentrated on writing and drawing on your cast. He held it gently, clearly being cautious not to cause you any discomfort. You were undeniably intrigued by his actions, even though his presence was obstructing your view – not that you cared anyways.
Soon, he finished, closing the lid to his marker. The bell rang, almost as if on cue, causing him to hurry out of the classroom. It was as if the roles swapped, he was now the one rushing out quickly. His abrupt exit left you wondering – why was he so nervous? He didn’t know either, maybe he was suddenly being nice with his rival.
As you finally glanced at your cast, your eyes fell on the words he had written: "Hope you heal quickly, loser." Right beside the message was a small drawing of Shin-chan sticking his tongue out. This time you found yourself breaking into a smile, rather than being irritated.
"So you're telling me I could have been writing about your cast this whole time?" Danielle exclaims, her eyes fixed on the doodles now on your cast. She stops, examining the drawings more closely. "Hold on, isn't that Niki's handwriting?" Without giving you a chance to explain, Danielle is already teasing you mercilessly.
You knew you couldn’t argue back with her. After all, how could you explain the decision to let your rival draw on your cast? You gazed at the doodles once more, finding yourself involuntarily breaking into a small smile. Maybe, just maybe, you'd allow him to draw on your cast again.
Yeah, you were totally out of it.
