Day 2
Well, technically day 3 as the clock just passed midnight. But since I haven’t gone to sleep yet I’m not counting it.
Today I faced a new challenge. After procrastinating some and using the good comfort of old and new friends alike I started the challenge. I’m now a bit on the way and hopefully I’ll be finished with it tomorrow (today technically). Shoutout to people that style wigs, you have the patience and tenacity of saints.
I think there should be a hairstylist for wigs.
Like, you take your wig there and a hairstylist styles it and stuff for you based off of a reference photo. And you could take it back whenever you need it washed/restyled and it would save you money bc you don't have to pay for like, 30 bottles of hairspray and shampoo a month.
...Just a thought.

I made this tutorial to answer the question I’m asked any time anyone who knows me IRL sees a photo of me in costume: “How on earth do you get all that hair up under a wig?”
After con how should I de-tangle and store my wig?
Detangle:Start on one side of the wig, and section off a strand of hair. Starting from the bottom inch, use a wig brush or wide toothed plastic comb to gently comb out theknots. Once the bottom is detangled, move up an inch or two and work out the next section. Continue to gently comb through the wig, working up the strand until you reach the top and then moving to the next strand. There are some tutorials for detangling wigs here.
Storage:Is the wig styled? If so you may want to keep it on the wig stand/wig head. You can then put this wig in a wig box for safe keeping. If you don’t want to build a box for it, I suggest keeping it in a bag or somewhere where it won’t get dusty.
If the wig is unstyled you may still want to keep it on a wig head, but you could also store it in a container. Wrapping the wig in a hair net (they usually come with one) is a simple way to keep it from tangling. For longer wigs, you may want to very loosely ponytail or braid it. Loose is important, if it is stored with the styling too tight it may crimp your wig.

This is really more for my own records since no one looks at this but me. Got my Inuyasha wig detangled finally. Started separating it so I can work on teasing the underside to add serious volume! Yay me and my tenacity!

Hello there! For wig styling beginners, my advice is:
1: Use sewing pins to hold your wig onto your foam wig head. I do it all the time and it’s a life saver!
2: Figure out the best materials for styling the wig you want. If it’s something with lots of spikes, you’ll want something like hair glue or spiking glue. If it’s something not heavy, you can use regular hairspray.
3: Take your time. Wig styling is not something that should be rushed, and they come out a lot better when they aren’t rushed.
4: Don’t put gel in synthetic wigs. It doesn’t work well and often just clumps up your wig.
5: Understand that most wigs aren’t like real hair. They don’t have the same styling styles, so make sure you read up before you start working!

Inuyasha wig is separated out after two hours of hard work! Not sure if it helped or not, but I was wearing nitrile gloves while working with it cause of a cut on my finger and it seemed to cooperate more! So, note to self, wear gloves! Lol Next step, tease, tease, tease!
Done teasing after a screwup that took 2 hours to fix! Lol Teasing took about 3 total hours with the screwup. Now I have to work on the front and bangs!
