You didn’t come this far to just get this far // You didn’t shoot for the moon just to hit the stars
Probably my favorite on the You Can’t Kill Us album. Ariel’s vocals in this song are absolutely awesome. The melody and lyrical style in this song is a little more reminiscent of older Icon for Hire stuff, and is what made me fall in love with them in the first place. Their rock heavy sound with rap and electronic fusion is unmatched.
The salt in my wounds isn’t burning any more than it used to // It’s not that I don’t feel the pain // It’s just I’m not afraid of hurting anymore
Looking forward to what I hope is new Paramore music in 2017! Until then, this is my favorite song from their last album. It’s a bit different from the rest of their stuff, but the pure emotion in this song is awesome. Love the lyrics and Hayley’s vocal abilities in this song.
Breathing out and breathing in the pieces of what we’ll begin // Whisper truth or drown it out // We’ll build it up or break it down
My favorite Hey Violet song by far! This song is sort of similar to the music that they’re doing now, but it also kept true to their rock roots while still adding some alternative pop in there. Love Rena’s vocals in this song and the lyrics are great. I hope for them to do more music like this in the near future!
I need a little time to find // Some peace of heart, some piece of mind
Cool song by Veridia! I love the vibe all of their music has; they have a cool mix of electro-rock. Deena sounds amazing in this song, and this video is super cool! It was awesome that they toured with Evanescence last year, and I’m very excited to hear what an album from them is gonna sound like.
I didn’t know I lost it all // Didn’t know I’d break and fall // This isn’t who I’m meant to be // There’s so much here that I’ve found missing
I am absolutely in love with this song from Juliet! I’ve been a fan of hers since The Voice, and this song is exactly why. She has such a powerful voice, while also portraying so many different emotions all at once. These lyrics are absolutely beautiful, and her voice just adds to that. I also love that the acoustic version is the version on the album because it’s so raw and pure.
How could I have burned paradise? // How could I? // You were never mine
Love this Evanescence song! It’s so different from the rest of their music, and the video for it is so cool. I love these lyrics as well, because its about realizing that someone you thought was yours really never was. It’s such a different topic coming from Evanescence, who mostly sings about topics other than love, so its super refreshing coming from them. This may be a little older, but it’s still awesome as ever.
If you can hold the stars in place // You can hold my heart the same
Love this song from Skillet. It’s a little softer than their usual stuff, and definitely softer than the rest of the songs on the Unleashed album, but that’s partially why I love it. It is a departure from their harder sound, but it is super fitting for the lyrics of this song. I also like that this is one of their more Christian songs as well. John and Jen sound great together, as always, and I love the cinematography in this video as well.
Up until now, I had sworn to myself that I’m content with loneliness // Cuz none of it was ever worth the risk // But you are the only exception
One of my favorite love songs. I love the story of a girl breaking down all the walls she built for this person. These lyrics are equal parts deep and sweet, and I love the story that they tell. Plus Hayley sounds awesome as always.
You keep me up with your silence // Take me down with your quiet // Of all the weapons you fight with // Your silence is the most violent
This is my favorite song from After Laughter. This whole album has a very different sound from the rest of Paramore’s past albums, but at the heart is the same powerful songwriting. This song showcases Hayley’s journey beautifully, and does so in a very beautiful and relatable way.
