No, there are not 69 of us but we are hiding in a trenchcoat.. medically recognised adult DID system studying to become a clinical psych. We are aware we make mistakes, we know we make mistakes, we're open to kind discussion!!!! 🇳🇿🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Please remember, there is a person behind almost every post on the internet, including syscourse. can someone write some decent DID rep pls and thank you 😭
g again !! im so sorry i just saw the -18 dni part if your pinnec i missed it the first time !! i apologize
Oop- It should be under 16 DNI :) We're 18 so don't mind 17 year olds, were basically the same age anyway XD don't you worry <3
Reminder
DID isn't just having fun people in your head
Along with shifts in personality, it's often times:
amnesia: 'waking up' with no memory of what's going on
travelling and having no idea where you are or how you got there
dizziness
confusion
spacing out
headaches
feeling broken & worthless
fear
not knowing why or how you're wearing what you're wearing
nausea
pain
anxiety
finding things amongst your belongings you don't remember acquiring
time loss
depression
suicidal ideation & action
spikes in inexplicable emotion, especially anger, fear, and shame
body and voice dysphoria
depersonalization & derealisation
loss of control
hearing voices
finding injuries you don't remember getting
self harm
not recognising friends/family/colleagues
forgetting important events (birthdays, parties, graduations etc)
mood shifts with seemingly no trigger
finding notes in similar handwriting but something about it is slightly off
flashbacks: somatic flashbacks, nightmares, split second flashbacks to 'little things' but not getting more detail
bed wetting
age regression
inadvertently lying, or being questioned if you have
feeling like your body isn't yours
knowing something is wrong, but not what
wondering why your body doesn't align with your perceived sex (for alters whose gender/sex don't align with the body)
watching your body do things and having no control over it (feeling like a puppet or like playing a video-game in 3rd person)
mass fluctuations in libido: fluctuations from hypersexual to zero sexual desire
not being sure if things really happened, or whether you imagined/thought about them
identity confusion
+ many more
I have two book recommendations DID experiences: "All Of Me" by Kim Noble, and "The Girl in The Green Dress" by Jeni Haynes. Please check trigger warnings.
I really hate the term 'headmates' because of its origins, 'alters' feels too clinical for casual conversation… normally we just say 'the sys' or 'the others' but I wish I had another term fjhfj
I have a small list of ideas for alternatives
mindsharers
echoes / echoforms
facetselves
mindfragments
inner entities
mindshifts
inner fam
brainmates
mindmates
headfellows
sysmate
but i dont really dig any of them :( any ideas?
Hot take: If you are posting to r/systemcringe you're part of the problem
"but what if—"
No. Even if they're endogenic, claiming DID without evidence, being "weird", posting too specific flags, a LOT of people posted on r/systemcringe are minors and bullying minors still figuring themselves out is not okay.
And yes, this goes for "TikTok DID" too, even if they *are* faking, they're still people under all of the facades they've made and still deserve empathy (and educating). Anyone who fakes a disorder for clout has issues, and should be seen by a therapist, or kindly informed they're being inappropriate, not mocked to high hell.
"but they're damaging the system community!"
If it bothers you that much, speak to them, KINDLY reach out. don't be an asshole and go behind their backs and post them to a subreddit that gets off from mocking people.
"they're clearly faking!"
Have you done a psychological assessment on them? Mmm, no? Thought as much.
"yea but it's obvious-"
Okay fine, it's obvious in some cases, but do you want to be part of a problem too?
"but-"
....what did I say, it's never okay.
So many systems fear being authentic for fear of being posted upon this subreddit and that's not okay, people will always be assholes but you don't need to perpetuate it.
The only way to stop subs like r/systemcringe is to stop interacting with them.
