When Time Doesnt Stop The Pain
When Time Doesn’t Stop The Pain
Fandom: Bnha Mha Parings: Shoto Todoroki x Reader, Shoto Todoroki x Momo Yaoyarozu Rating: 14+ Warnings: Alcohol, unrequited romance, angst Words: .5k81 A/N: This is just a short scene I can’t get out of my head. It may become a series depending on the reaction? Also yes I know i’m posting a lot of angst rn leave me alone 🤣

Shoto clenched his eyes shut, his left hand gripping the phone to his ear and his right desperately clutching his clean white dress shirt, bunching up the fabric over his heart.
“Who do you think you are Todoroki?” Y/n’s drunk voice slurred over the phone. “What gives you the right to- to- to-” she hiccups and starts to sob.
“I’m sorry Y/n/n,” His voice is strained and painful, his heart breaking into pieces.
“How could you?”
It’s been five months since it happened- Since Shoto asked Momo to go on a date with him. “I didn’t know,” he whispered, leaning over his marble bathroom sink as tears stated to fall from his closed eyes, “I didn’t know.”
Five months and still, Y/n calls him whenever she’s drunk. Five months and she still cries, still screams, still destroys herself.
“...Y/n?”
The sudden silence that fell over the line which was usually filled with sobs and shouts was more alarming than anything she could have said.
“Was it,” she paused, “am I really that hard to love?”
Her voice was the most sober he’d heard since their fight- the clarity in her tone shook him to his core. The wobble in her voice broke his heart.
“No,” he cried, before coughing to strengthen his voice, “No it wasn’t you. I just-” he shook his head at the memories, “I just didn’t know.”
There was another pause of silence, “How could you not know?”
Todoroki had been asking himself that very same thing for five months. How could he not know? She’d loved him since freshman year- his Y/n loved him for six years and he couldn’t tell.
She’d been so open about her emotions, so caring and supporting with everything he did, and he just... didn’t realize it.
He looked up, glaring at his disheveled appearance in the mirror. “I was an idiot.”
Shoto Todoroki was in love with Y/n Y/l/n for all of high school, but when college came around he gave up on the idea. She was bound for greatness, she deserved someone who suited her temperament, not a friend from childhood that couldn’t match her newly founded maturity.
“I’m sorry,”
Y/n’s voice was soft and sad, her words bounced around in her chest before she let them escape from her lips- a newly found emptiness followed. She knew what she had to do. “Y/n-”
“Goodbye.”
For the first time, she was the one to end the phone call.
In the end, Shoto never got another call from his childhood bestfriend. In fact, he heard nothing about her until he saw the photo on his Facebook UA alumni feed when he was sitting in his office months later.
Y/l/n Y/n raises to Koreas top 3 hero list after only one year- is this foreign hero Korea’s new heroic legacy?
Mina had shared it- showing that she hadn’t cut off everyone, maybe only him. He looked at the photo along with it- two side by side. One had Y/n in her hero uniform after a successful mission, caring for one of the injured children. The picture on the right had her in a beautiful dress, receiving an award from the head of the Korean Hero Association.
The familiar pain in his chest welled up again- his eyes shut and he clenched the mahogany desk. Why does it still hurt so much? She’s happy, Y/n’s happy- He looked at the photo of him and Momo that sat on his desk- but was he?

bnha Warning: Angsty, kinda gory? Happy ending Requested By: @wolffamilygang Request/ Prompt: Can I request an Aizawa x quirkless female daughter reader? Like the reader have been in the army and helped across the world? And then something happens making her lose her right arm, but it was replaced with a metal arm kind like Bucky from Avengers. And she comes home after years and surprises her dad at school and he’s crying and just so happy to see her again?

The gentle humming of the train's motor rung through the carts, as Y/n leaned her head back against the vibrating walls. While her eyes were closed, she could feel the looks people were giving her.
It was always a mixture- depending on where she was people could either be thankful and polite, or they could be disgusted by her. It hurt, it does hurt, but she has grown stronger, and she knows better than to let it get to her.
After a little more than four years, she was granted FEL, or Family Emergency Leave. When she finally heard about the attack, she was worried that it would be too late. Y/n was used to her father's calls, emails, and video chat’s, and it shocked her when they didn’t come in; but she figured it was just because the school year was in full swing, and he was busy. She can still remember when she was told what happened.
--------
She and the platoon she was acting as Platoon Sergeant over had just gotten back to base after facing one of the worst days of their lives. It was rough, and they were all tired. Y/n had headed straight to her tent, and she sighed at her makeshift work desk- they had lost great soldiers and close friends that day.
She doesn’t have to try too hard to see her Commanding Officer standing outside of her corners. It wasn’t unusual for the two of them to sit together after a rough day, they often needed the other to bounce back. Y/n knew the letters of condolences had piled high that day, and she would need her friend there for her.
“Permission to enter, Sergeant Aizawa?”
“Permission granted, Commanding Officer,” she sighed and shifted over to the edge of her bed.
Aaron had been Y/n’s saving grace throughout her four years. They had met during her basic combat training, while he was on stand-by with the rest of his platoon.
They were almost nothing alike, but that’s why they got along so well. Still, it wasn’t hard to see just how much they relied on each other. That’s why his silence was so suspicious when he entered, he was always there to make her feel better, but he couldn’t bring himself to smile.
“Aaron,” she shifted on her blankets, growing awkward with the uncharacteristically quiet room, “are you okay?”
“I don’t know how to tell you this,” he had sighed and scratched his neck. He can remember the conversations spent at two, three, four am, when they talked about their families- what they had going on at home.
Bak in japan, everyone had such high expectations for her. She was the daughter of an A-tier hero, and she was supposed to live up to that legacy. And then, she didn’t have a quirk. As much as she tried to not let it show, it hurt too much, knowing that she would never be the kind of hero her father was.
So, she joined the army. It had evolved a lot since quirks were developed, but apparently, it was still a quirkless-dominated field. While it shocked her that a lot of her fellow soldiers had no quirks, it was a great comfort. Other countries seemed to have the same diversity, so it was never a heavily weighted difference, with the exception of what had happened earlier that day.
But being in the army, going through the ranks, it was an amazing feat of satisfaction, and Y/n loved every second of it. No one she met had heard of her father, no one could judge her, no one was superior in anything other than rank.
It took less than two months for Y/n to grow completely addicted to her new life. The adrenaline, the rush, it was a high that she never experienced before, and she was hooked.
In two years, tragedy struck. The platoon she belonged to was faced against a Q-soldier army. Meaning that this fight was weighted against them. One of the quirk holders was a man who was deranged, in every sense of the word. His quirk presented itself as an emitter quirk, where he produced an aroma that incapacitated the enemy, but in reality, it was much darker.
He had approached her first, as she laid on the ground unable to move, but still very conscious. He stalked toward her like a wolf that had blood dripping from its mouth. As he crouched down next to her fallen body, he grabbed her arm and the entire platoon heard her scream, as it was torn from her body.
They had barely made it out that day with most of their soldiers, one of their own Q-soldiers had shown up, and they were able to clear the way for the group to escape.
Y/n had been carried away by her Commanding Officer, who she knew as CO Kelly. Later on, after being whisked away by the medical practitioners in her base, she learned to mourn the loss of her limb. It was bittersweet, as her metal arm gave her many abilities, but with it came insecurities.
She had been crying herself to sleep for a week until her Commanding officer came in to comfort her. He stayed by her until she had dealt with the trauma as well as she could have, and she even started to accept the foreign material. During those times, the two grew closer, until Commanding Officer Kelly was just Aaron, the black-haired, blue-eyed boy who whispered his hopes and dreams t her in the dead of night.
After the tragedy, she bounced back and quickly rose through the ranks thanks to the metal attached to her, which made her stand out among her peers. It wasn’t long until she and Aaron Kelly were working closely together, he as Commanding Officer, and her as Staff Sergeant.
They knew almost everything about each other, it was important to have something to hold onto out here, it’s easy to get lost in the fighting, in the blood. If you weren’t careful, you’d lose yourself- everyone had seen it happen before. That’s probably why they never let the other stray too far from their sides.
Aaron had sat next to Y/n on her bed, and his breaths were uneven and forced. It was worrying to see her friend so stressed, so Y/n reached out, and she placed a hand on his arm- only to feel exactly how flexed and stressed he was.
“You can tell me anything you know, I’ll always be here for you,” She said, trying to ease his anxiety.
“It’s not about me,” his eyes darted around the room, never staying in one place for too long, “It’s about your dad.”
---------------
Y/n would have usually blushed, as she remembered how she had sobbed all over her best friend; but her concern for her father kept her from something that frivolous. Her father, the unbreakable hero, had been hurt so bad that they were letting her go to him. It was scary, and she only hoped she would make it there in time.
The stares on her had lightened up by the smallest bit, but she had to crack her eyes open to pinpoint where the glare was coming from that held her by its death-grip.
She looked around until she spotted a green-haired boy sitting across from her. He blushed hard and looked down when he realized he had been caught staring.
“I-i I’m so sorry! I swear I wasn’t, I didn’t mean, I know I was, I’m so sorry!” He rushed through his words, tripping over them as they fell off his tongue.
Y/n raised an eyebrow at the young boy, and she couldn’t stop the laugh that came out as he tried to explain himself. “So, what was it?”
“Huh?” He stopped and looked at her with confusion in his eyes.
“That had you staring,” she explained, “Was it the uniform, gender in the uniform, or the metal arm?” She asked, moving her fingers up and down after referencing her arm.
“Huh, none of them I don’t think,”
“Oh? Is there something I forgot about?”
“Well,” he was scratching the back of his neck and blushing, “I was just wondering what cool quirk you have if you’re in the military...”
Y/n has absolutely nothing to say to that. Should she be flattered? Upset? Should it bother her that she’s back in a place where that’s all people worry about? Should she be overjoyed that she’s proven herself through the uniform?
She noticed that he had tried to phrase his response as a question, and he seemed to have a notebook open to a blank page, ready to write.
“Sorry to burst your bubble kid,” she sighed and looked at him, “but I don’t have a quirk.”
This boy’s face lit up when she said that, and it was a total 180 from how she thought he would react.
“You can join the military if your quirkless?” He asked with a bright, shining smile and eyes full of hope.
“Of course you can. Why, do you not have a quirk?”
“No, I don’t! Err- rather I didn’t until recently,” he awkwardly tugged at his shirt.
She looked at him, making sure she didn’t misjudge his age. “You’re quite the late-bloomer huh?” She commented, deciding he couldn’t be younger than in his last year of middle school, but he was most likely a highschooler by now.
He nodded in response, but he looked like he had a question.
“What’s up now, kid?” she asked, sighing at how much time she had left on the train.
“It’s just... is your arm why you got discharged?”
Y/n eyes snapped up to him, and her glare was enough to make him rigid in his seat. “I’m not discharged, I’m visiting family,”
Her glare froze him in his seat, and it was almost like he couldn’t more. Only after her eyes had moved away from him had he released his breath and calmed down.
“Sorry ma’am..” he whispered and looked down.
“Hey kid, I’m really sorry, I really didn’t mean to snap at you like that,” she said, honestly upset at herself for letting that happen, “I’m just really stressed right now, but you didn’t deserve that.”
He seemed to perk up at her apology, and it was almost like the whole situation just rolled off of him. “Don’t worry about it!”
“Oh, it looks like my stop is coming up,” Y/n checked her watch, and she stood up to grab her duffle bag of necessities that was stored overhead.
“Huh, mine too!” He said, swinging his bag over his shoulders.
“You’re what, sixteen?”
“Uh, yeah, I am,”
“And it’s Tuesday, so you should be going to school right now, right?” She asked, hoping this highschool student was maybe of a rival school and could point her in the right direction to get to UA.
“Yup! Why do you ask?” They both walked off the train, and he walked alongside her keeping pace.
“I’m on my way to U.A. academy, do you know how to get there?” Y/n grabbed her phone out of her duffle bag, and she checked her notifications for any messages about her father- nothing was there.
To say she was worried was an understatement, but no news is good news, right? She hadn’t gotten a call from the doctors or her uncle, so he wasn’t dead, or would they just not tell her?
“Huh?” He tilted his head to the side as he walked, struggling to walk with her, “Yeah, that’s where I’m going now,”
“Great!” Y/n smiled at him. This coincidence would make her life so much easier.
“We’ll be there in like, three minutes. Class starts in fifteen, so I’ll probably be able to walk you to wherever you need to go before homeroom starts,”
“Thank you so much- wait, what’s your name?” She stopped walking, recoiling for a second.
“Oh! I thought I already told you?” he thought back, trying to remember if he had or not, “Eh, not like it really matters! My name is Midoriya Izuku! Nice to meet you!”
“Hi Midoriya, people in my squadron usually call me Sergeant Y/N- but you can just call me Y/n,”
---------------------------------
“Thank you again, so much for helping me Midoriya, I would have been lost without you,” she said, smiling at the young boy who had guided her to the nurse’s office. If she knew anything, it was that her father was much too stubborn to go to the actual hospital, claiming it was ‘irrational to spend the money’, which- while it has some merit- proves the point that people without quirks are put at a disadvantage.
“Anytime, Ms. Y/n! It really was no big deal,” he mumbled and scratched the back of his neck, “I should really get back to class now, but it was nice meeting you!”
“Bye, Midoriya,” She said, before opening the door to be greeted by a friendly face.
“Do I need a stronger prescription, or is that little baby Y/n?” An aged voice that had no fragility to it called out, as the woman looked up from her computer.
“Hey Shuzenji, it’s been too long,” Y/n said, leaning down so she could wrap her arms around the shorter woman.
“Last time I saw you, you didn’t have all this muscle, your hair’s different too,” She commented, stepping back to fully take in the sudden appearance. “How’s your father? I assume I’m not the first person you’ve visited,” she asked, sitting back down.
“My father?” She pauses and looks around the room, “he’s not here?” Where is he? Is he at the hospital? Home? Is he worse, better? Is he in the hospital? What happened?
“You know Shouta,” She complained and went back to typing on her laptop, “He won't stay away from his students a moment longer than he needs to. Though, I assume he won’t need to be so dependant on them know that the real you is here,”
“Real me?”
“Oh love-bug, your dad loves his students, but it’s my personal theory that he holds so tightly onto them; because he can’t hold on to you,” she said, looking back up into Y/n’s Y/E/C eyes.
“He’s teaching already!? He can’t be fully healed yet!” Y/n was well aware of quirks limits, and there was no way even Emergency Girl could have healed all of her father's wounds.
“You’re right, he’s teaching- but he can't use his quirk. I have him all bandaged up,”
“Thank you Shuzenji, I really missed you,” Y/n turned and started to walk out of the office.
“Oh, and lady-bird? I love you, welcome home,”
“Thank you,”
--------------------------------------
Y/n had been staring at the door handle of classroom 1-A for the past ten minutes, and every time she thinks she should open the door, she wonders if it would be better if she just waited until lunch break. But, it was only 11:12, and lunch is held at 12:45, so she would be standing there for well over an hour.
Should she go to visit other people? Would that be rude? Y/n came to see her father, but if he was busy then there shouldn’t be anything wrong with waiting as to not interrupt him.
A sudden ruckus from inside snapped Y/n out of her trance, and she grabbed the handle with her forever cold hand. What would he think when he saw it? How would he react?
She knew that, if a fight broke out, her father couldn’t do much to calm the students, but she had always been particularly good at defusing situations. She swung the door open, but with all of her military training, it came as no surprise that she made no sounds.
Inside the class, she saw a blonde boy standing with his palms up, and tiny bombs were coming out of them. He was yelling at a boy with familiar un-ruley green hair. And there, standing at the podium looking very frustrated, was her dad. He hated not being able to do anything- not being able to protect is students, and it really showed.
“Shut up and sit down,” Y/n snapped, like a dog biting viciously while threatened. As soon as the angry boy saw her glare, he stopped talking and sat in his seat, not muttering another word.
“Y/n,” Aizawa’s raspy voice breathed out, and he all but lunged himself at her. He collapsed against her, and his face was buried in her shoulder. Sobs are freely escaping him, and his body shakes every time, as all of his pent-up emotion is released in bursts of tears.
“I missed you so much,” he says, his voice is slightly higher than usual, and Y/n wraps her arms around him, lightly rubbing up and down his back.
“I missed you too dad,” She said lightly, afraid anything louder might break him.
He pulled away, and he put a hand against her cheek. “My princess, you're home,”
Y/n smiled and started to cry, as she sunk her face into her dad’s hands. “I heard you got yourself in trouble. You should know better, old man,”
they both laughed, and they both cried, and the entire class was very freaking confused.
They pulled back from their hug, and Shouta grabbed a hold of his daughter’s hands. He was planning on saying something cliche, like ‘they’re rougher,’ or, ‘they’re still so small,’ but instead, as his fleshy hands met the clod counterpart, he couldn’t catch himself before asking, “What happened to you?”
“I fought the bad guys,” Y/n said, quoting her dad- any time he would stumble into the house, at three in the morning, a younger, terrified Y/n would ask him what happened. And he, in his bruised and bloody state would say the same phrase every time.
“Did you beat them?”
“Of course,” she responded, remembering this conversation with roles reversed. It was a strange circle of life- and she wasn’t sure if it was something she enjoyed or not.
“You’re perfect, and I’m so proud of you,” he said, breaking down into tears again.
They both sobbed, and their shoulders shook slightly less violently this time.
A loud man with large hair had caught wind of the news, and he was quick to run through the halls, “Heeeeeeyyyyyyy! I heard the UA pro-de-jay is back home!” The birdlike loud mouth yelled, sliding a bit passed the door.
“I’m here checking on dad, but yeah- I’m home Uncle Mic,”
Aizawa held her in another hug, “You’re home,”
“Sooooo I guess it’s actually Sargeant Aizawa then,”
Doesn’t Hurt Pt. 2
Mha
Warnings: Abusive? relationship (verbal), self-hatred, and one swear
Requested By: @hains-j @encryptedheartz @letmeknowknj @netamaru @bitchtrynafck -- thank you all for requesting a part two! I hope it does you justice
Y/n and Bakugo have always loved each other, but nothing good lasts. When Y/n gets a glimpse of how relationships could be, Katsuki has no choice but to try harder, or he might lose her forever.
Part One! Part Three!

Y/n wasn’t an idiot, but there were somethings she would never fully understand. One of which was how her relationships with Bakugo and Midoriya would turn out. She had always thought that she and Bakugo would stay friends, and she would end up being with Midoriya. Izuku had always been so nice to her, and they were much closer. He would have treated her like a princess- like she was his everything. He would never stop cherishing her if they were dating, so why had things ended up the way they did?
Bakugo had asked her out on a date before Izuku had the chance. It wasn’t anything special, but things with Katsuki never were. Even growing up, it always felt like he was a little bit embarrassed by being with her. He looked at Y/n like she was the world, but he could never bring himself to hold her for more than a minute.
They were inseparable and head-over-heels in love. They spent every waking hour together, and Katsuki would never be able to voice how gushy and warm he felt when looking at her. He loved knowing she was his, but it hurt when she spent time with Midoriya. He knew that Deku loved y/n before Deku knew, and he knew that if he didn’t do something quickly, Midoriya would ask her out first.
Much like how Y/n wasn’t an idiot, neither was Bakugo. He was well aware that if both he and Midoriya confessed at the same time, she would choose the latter. He was softer, nicer, and -as much as Bakugo hated to admit it- Midoriya knew y/n better than he did.
When Y/n said yes, Bakugo knew he won. He knew that all of y/n’s firsts would be with him: first date, first kiss, first everything. He finally had something that Izuku didn’t, and he would never be able to have her. She was all his.
He had taken her out to a movie- it was a quiet Disney movie that she had been gushing about, so he knew it was the safe option; it was hard to displease y/n any way, so it wasn’t like it mattered. Nothing really mattered.
Whenever he stumbled, Y/n was there to keep him to his feet, if he ever felt like giving up, she would push him to continue and do his best. If they fought, she would come back to him with an apology and kisses. It was a continuous loop, and it felt safe.
He never worried that she would leave him; because, why would he? He was the strongest person in her life, he was her first boyfriend, and she was his. They were together, and if anyone said anything to the contrary he would set them straight; however, as they got older, having her there became increasingly embarrassing. It was just awkward to have his own personal cheerleader with him 24/7, and while he enjoyed the encouragement, he didn’t want anyone to think he needed her- he would be fine without her!
Sure it's nice to have someone there to vent to, to hold during his darkest house, someone there to anchor him to earth so he didn’t feel like he was floating off into space. It was amazing to have a girlfriend, but she wasn’t a necessity. He doesn’t need someone to walk to school with, someone to call at 2 am after a nightmare, someone to spend time with on the weekends, or someone who makes his lunch. He doesn’t need a support system, or hugs and kisses. He doesn’t need anyone. But if that’s true, then why does it hurt so much when he hears people talk to her?
He knows he’s a great boyfriend, she knows he takes care of her, but then why does it bother him when other people talk about their relationship? The whispers in the cafeteria, the glares in the halls, none of it should matter, nothing should matter, but that can’t erase his undying need to show her off, to prove to everyone that he’s the best boyfriend ever. He just can’t bring himself to do it.
Izuku wasn’t an idiot. He knew if fifth grade, when Y/n had slept over and wore a cute, fox-print, crop top and legging PJ set, that she had a hold of his heart. She didn’t steal it, it was more like he woke up one day, and it wasn’t his anymore. There was never a moment of transferring ownership, it just belonged to her.
He also knew that if he confessed, she would accept. Whether that be a reciprocation of feelings or pity he wouldn’t know, but if he had asked her to be each other's, she would say yes. Midoriya knew that Bakugo liked her, but Y/n never had the chance to decide for herself.
It was no secret that, if given the option between the two boys, Y/n would choose Bakugo. He was stronger, more confident, and he was everything a protector should be. So, he settled with being the best friend. He could handle the phonecalls after she left, gushing about how nice Bakugo had been, he could take the phone calls of her crying at 4 am, after Bakugo hung up on her, he could handle being in second place to her heart.
His soul was crushed when she told him. He felt his heart shatter in her palm, and she didn’t even know she was holding it in the first place. But still, he was and always will be hers. He would support her whenever she needed him, it might not be healthy, but it’s all he can do to be with her. He just wants what’s best for her.
Y/n never had a clue that Midoriya felt that way about her, she always thought he saw her as a close friend, but she always wondered what would have happened if he had confessed to her late at night during one of their sleepovers.
On more than one occasion she has thought back to lying next to Midoriya on his bed in the middle of the night. She could still imagine his light breaths in and out, soft and repetitive. He would turn to face her, and he would whisper out all sleepily, “I think I’m in love with you,” and then he would fall back asleep.
It might be unhealthy with the number of times she’s thought of this, but could anyone really blame her? Bakugo loved her, and he really did enjoy her being around him, but he only showed his affection in private- it made her doubt if he actually liked her, or the idea of her. It got to her, and as much as she hates to admit it, Y/n’s spent countless nights outside, by herself, looking at the stars for answers.
Tonight was one of those nights. She was still in her pajama set, and the fall weather had started to get to her, but she didn’t want to leave. It was nice out here by herself, it felt so calm. Her family had been surprised that she and Bakugo started dating, Y/n always preferred things neat and calm, in their place. There was one outlier in her life, and that was Bakugo.
He was loud and chaotic, he disrupted her peace in the best possible way, but even the best of storms tear down trees, and boy did he tear up her forest. Loving Katuski was only hard when he was there- as bad as it sounds it’s true.
When he’s not present, it’s easy to remember all the amazing things they’ve done together, all of the cuddles and sleepovers, and the breakfasts’ and dates, all of the I love you’s and the kisses whispered far passed midnight, it’s so easy to get caught up in the good times, he was always so soft- unless he was there.
When Bakugo was there, he was cold and stubborn. He was never one to initiate contact unless he was jealous, and even then it was only ever with Izuku. When he was there, he was a knife digging into her skin, and all the while he thought he was just tracing over her with his fingertips. He loved her, god did he love her, and it was always obvious to them that he loved her. Who didn’t?
But he never showed it to other people. In the beginning, it didn’t bother her too much, but as time passed on it became less and less of him not being comfortable enough with PTA and more and more of him just not wanting to hold her hand, and that tore at Y/n’s skin in every place possible. It was the monster that hid under her bed until the darkest time of the night when only she was awake with her thoughts.
That’s what led her here, to the balcony of her dorm room. She was almost crying, and she was so cold. Y/n had lost track of time in her head- like she usually did. It was hard not to when so much was on her mind. Her body moved closer in on itself, and she rubbed her arms for warmth. It was almost time for her to go back in, but Y/n just wanted to stay out just a little longer.
“Y/l/n?” A voice from above asked, “What are you doing out in the night?”
To say she was startled was an understatement. She had been so shocked, that she jumped back and almost fell over hr balcony. Luckily, a force had stabilized her from behind, giving her a light nudge back over the railing.
“Tokoyami,” she breathed out, putting a hand over her chest, “you’re getting better at that.” Her chest had shut in on itself for a split second, and her body was shaking slightly.
“Thank you, it takes much effort and practice,” he was now leaning down over the railing himself, watching her.
“You’re gonna hurt yourself doing that,” Y/n pointed out growing increasingly worried about the boy who she never really spoke to thought a propose.
“Are you proposing I leave?” He asked, trying to hide the weird stung of being rejected before he had the chance to say anything.
“No,” Y/n laughed and shook her head, “I was going to invite you down,” She smiled up at him, and she shifted over to the far side of her little terrace.
Tokoyami jumped down, and he landed softly- albeit with a little help from Dark Shadow. It was rare for the students to see each other outside of school uniforms, so the only real taste they had of each other's style was their hero costume, and how ell could a costume judge a person wardrobe?
For the first few seconds, they just stood there observing each other. Tokoyami’s oversized, light-purple hoodie was much better suited for the weather than her cropped, black, hoodie. His was cute and solid, but hers had a band she had been listening to written over it. It was a cute top, but it did nothing to protect her from the cold.
She broke the atmosphere by turning to her side and leaning over the railing. She propped her head upon her hands, while her elbows supported herself on the railing.
Tokoyami stared at her while she looked up at the stars. This girl had been on his radar since the first day of school. Her quirk was one of the strongest ones he has ever heard of, and getting to see her use it in person was amazing. He always wondered how hard she could push it.
“We have school tomorrow,” he said, standing next to her and looking out into the sky, “if we want to do our best, we should go to sleep soon.”
“I think...” she looked up to the stars, and her face was dim, “I think I might stay in my dorm tomorrow.”
This captured all of Tokoyami’s attention, it had been almost as startling as when someone admits to something completely insane, like stealing clothes or putting ketchup on broccoli, it was so out of the blue and out of character.
“You- you think you’re going to... What?” The girl who was first in academics and quirk advancement was going to- skip class?
She laughed a little, but it had no humor in it. “It’s not unheard of to take mental health days, how do you think I do so well in school?”
“Showing up on time every day and doing everything in your power to study hard and pay attention?”
“All of that is good and all,” her face fell into a deep frown, “but none of it gets you anywhere if you’re not taking care of yourself. You should always put your own mental and physical wellbeing before anything else- the school isn’t important enough to sacrifice yourself for.”
“Why doesn’t that logic apply to your relationships?”
Dead silence.
He hadn't meant to say that out loud! It was one of those thoughts that jump into your head that you immediately scold yourself for- it was never supposed to leave his head.
In an awkward attempt to diffuse the conversation-killing bomb he had just dropped, he asked her, “So when do you plan on turning in for the night anyway?”
What Tokoyami said wouldn’t have usually had any effect on Y/n, she was used to people talking to her about her relationship with Bakugo- they always danced around the topic and tried not to come out and say what the wanted to.
If it was any other day, she would have brushed it off and be fine, but adding another classmate's opinion onto the pile that had formed on her chest was really starting to weigh her down. What would she say to that if it was any other night? Any other second? She would say something that didn’t show how sad she was, something witty that would hopefully make him laugh...
“Quote the raven,” Y/n smirked a little at her own pun, and she ended up giggling at her own joke.
Tokoyami’s eyes lit up at the reference, and his feathers puffed up as he tried t contain his excitement to keep up his facade, “You read poetry?”
“Only the good kind,” she pointed upwards, “the classics.”
“Hey, Y/L/N, you’ve gotta tell me,”
“Tell you what?” She looked into his eyes again, taking the moment to really appreciate them for the first time. The way the moonlight reflected on the red made it look like it was a shining lighthouse in the distance, signaling to all the sailors that they were safe from the storm that they had been fighting on their own.
“Why don't you use your power to do something... more?” He was almost at a loss for words, but there must be a reason. Here she was, a shivering mess, and yet she refused to imagine a jacket, a heater, anything of the sort! It was confusing, and he wasn’t the only person who felt this way- almost the whole class had voiced an opinion on the subject.
“I just-” she looked away again and grimaced, “I don’t even know anymore. At first, I thought it was for moral purposes, but know?” She laughed, “God! I feel like I’m- I don’t know... punishing myself for something? Does that make any sense?”
He nodded, and if he had a mouth he would smile. “What could you have to punish yourself for?”
A wave of sadness washed over her like a hundred memories flashed into her brain. She could see herself in moments like these. She knew it was herself because she recognized her face, but everything else was different. Her personality, her appearance, but most of all, Midoriya was always by her side- he almost always had an arm around her shoulders or her waist. They were together, and they were always smiling a big, great smirk that covered there entire faces.
Y/n hates herself for saying yes to Katsuki that day, she regrets it; because, if she had said no, so it would have been awkward, but, at least then she wouldn’t be trapped in a relationship she didn’t want to be in. And then, she hates herself for this. Nothing ways on Y/n’s heart more than knowing that while she is here, imagining a life with one of her best friends, her boyfriend is in bed thinking there’s nothing wrong- he trusts her completely.
Tokoyami’s eyes had appeared in her lane of vision, and it became awkwardly clear that she had zoned out. But his eyes... they made her feel so safe, it was a weird feeling for someone she had rarely talked to give her, but she had a feeling she’d be seeing him a lot more in the future.
“Has anyone told you that it’s really difficult not to talk to you?” She asked, feeling like she had been a little too loose-lipped.
He laughed a shook his head, as he leaned back on the railing and shoved his hands into the pouch of his hoodie. “Yeah,” he blushed, “I get that a lot. It’s not like I’m nosey! People just have a tendency to tell me everything, whether I ask or not.”
Y/n scoffed a bit, and she shivered once again. “I should go inside if I don’t want to get sick,” she murmured, but she still stared out into the night.
“I assume that, no matter how much logical sense it makes, you won’t be going inside any time soon?” He looked to her head, and he saw her hair move along with the motions of her shaking it back and forth. With a sigh, he walked over to her and engulfed her in his arms from behind.
“Huh?” Y/n voiced, alarmed by the sudden contact.
Tokoyami, who refused to look at her, tried to explain himself with, “I don’t want you to get sick,” but he spoke so softly it was hard to hear. Nevertheless, he kept her close to his torso with his hands unmoving from around her.
---------------------------------------------------
Katsuki was about to barge into his girlfriend's room and throw a fit; she hadn’t shown up for their breakfast, so he had to sit next to Kaminari and Sero- how could she leave him to dry like that?
Just as he was about to twist the lock, he read what she had written on a whiteboard that was pinned to the back of her door, why she liked it he would never know. It read, Sorry, I caught a cold and don’t want to get sick! Don’t worry about me, and study hard! Especially you, Iida, I’ll be fine in a day or two, so you don’t need to get me meds of flowers + get well soon cards- Love Y’all xoxo
Katsuki suddenly felt an overwhelming amount of guilt wash over him; he was so selfish, who would yell at someone for staying homesick? A jerk, that’s who. Y/n had probably been studying so hard last night, she always ran herself into the ground. and now she caught a cold. He felt so bad for her, but in case she was asleep he didn’t want to bother her- she would need all the rest she could get.
How Bakugo responded would have gone a lot differently if he knew what was happening behind that door. No one will ever know what he would have done, because, on the other side of these walls, his girlfriend was in bed next to his classmate. It wouldn’t matter that the only reason he slept in her bed was because he had fallen asleep after they sat down on the terrace, and she didn’t want to bother anyone by bringing hi to his proper room, so she just plopped him down on her bed, and she slept on a beanbag chair she had in the corner, wrapped up in her heaviest comforter.
He would blow up- or at least that’s what Y/n is currently telling herself as she cuddles into Tokoyami’s feathers. He would be angry, and he would start a fight, but nothing seems to hush that quiet voice nudging her shoulder, pulling her down, and whispering in her ear, “He’d only be angry if he cared.”
Y/n hated how she thought, who could doubt someone who had been with her through thick and thin? Over the years, not once had he flirted with another girl- he was completely loyal to her... he would never hurt her.
If he didn’t realize he was hurting her, then he did nothing wrong. It’s not Katsuki’s fault that she was so anxious- if he was faithful to her she has to repay the favor.
He didn’t know, and she would never tell him. Even as she lays in bed basking in the warmth of someone else body, she makes a promise with herself. I will stay by his side until he tells me to stop. Until he kicks me out of his life I will be unwaveringly loyal; because, he loves me- and I... I love him.
And like all birds, she stayed quiet in her cage. And like all owners, he had no idea that the metal bars she was kept in were too small for her wings. And like all lighthouses, Tokoyami will stay where he is, as he reminds her to fly towards the light to find her way home. And like all idiots, Midoriya won’t chase after her; because, who is he to deny his friends the happiness he is so sure they have?
In all of the times and in all of the places, the predator will devour the pray without a second thought. He will rip her limb from limb, insecurity by insecurity until she is nothing more than a circus of bones to remind everyone of the shell of a girl she had become.
And though she felt every scratch, every stab, every time he knocked her down, she would say nothing- she deserves it for doubting his love for her. She deserves it, and so much more. People will never stop talking to her about it, and she will never stop defending him, Katsuki Bakugo is and forever will be the perfect boyfriend to her, and Y/n will always say that. She will throw herself in front of a blade if it means sparing him.
Healthy or not, it didn’t matter. She is his, to do with as he deems fit. He chose her, and she was privileged to have him by her side, no matter how aggressive he is. And at the end of the day, when she’s all alone with her new friend in the shadows when no one else can hear her, only then will she say the truth. Only then will someone finally know; When Katsuki talks down to her, it fucking hurts.
Recovered Doesn’t Mean It Never Happen (Hitoshi x Izuku)
Fandom: BNHA / MHA Type: Angst Pairing: Shinso x Midoriya x Cheater!Bakugo Warnings: Cheating, mentions of sex, mentions of alcohol Requested by: No one, but requests are open! Word Count: 4,117 Summary: No one would have thought Bakugo would give up a relationship with the only person who could ever love him completely, but things almost never go to plan. Without his childhood friend to wipe his tears, Izuku had no other choice than to leave- and love always comes to those who need it. For every broken heart, there is an open door and a warm bed with someone waiting with open arms. A broken heart can move on, but an empty heart can never be full once it rips.
———————–
He wasn’t sure if he should even go to the party. If it had been a year earlier he would have gone in a heartbeat, with a bright smile lighting up his face. Izuku knew that he would be there, and he hadn’t talked to his ex-boyfriend since it happened. His friends told him it wasn’t healthy to avoid discussing it, but it took weeks before Midoriya could look a blonde stranger in the eyes again and not start crying. He was so hurt, and his heart felt like it was breaking inside of him. He can still remember the day, a year in between yet it feels like it was yesterday, and still, the green-haired boy could throw himself back into the hallway of their apartment, leaning up against the hard-wood door.
The rain had intensified while he was on patrol, and Izuku couldn’t care less about his ever-dampening hair. All he could do was smile and remember his blond-haired boyfriend was waiting for him, most likely on their couch on his phone, while the tv was running in the background. Red Riot watched him as they jumped from rooftop to rooftop, and while he knew he should be looking down at the streets, he could only stare at his friend and wonder why his best friend would hurt him so much.
When they had finished, Midoriya scratched the back of his neck and said that he should head home to Bakugo, as he would get annoyed if he came home too late. Kirishima nodded in agreement, but he almost stopped him. He opened his mouth to talk to him, to tell him, but no sound came from him. Kirishima wanted to save Midoriya the pain from finding out from something else, but could he bring himself to betray his best friend like that? But if he didn’t tell Midoriya while he has the chance, is that betraying him as well? He felt like there was no good option, so he just let him go.
Izuku saw their apartment building, and he smiled as he walked through the door. He greeted the manager who stood at his desk with a smile on his face. He returned the greeting, said something about the weather, and let Midoriya pass through to the residential floors. He dashed through the dark-wood floors and ran to their apartment. He took out his keys and was inserting them into the lock when a sound made him pause. It was a voice he had never heard before, it was a guy’s voice, but it was an octave higher than natural, and it made dread run through Izuku’s body.
But, Kaachan wouldn’t do that, right? He would never… So, Midoriya shook the idea from his head and turned his key to unlock the door, and he walked in. He looked to his left and he saw that he was right, Bakugo was, in fact, on the couch… but he wasn’t on his phone. He was hovering over a guy he didn’t recognize. Strangely, at that moment, he didn’t recognize Bakugo either.
Midoriya shook the thoughts from his head, he didn’t need to be thinking about that before the party. It was the ten-year reunion of their year, and he would be damned if he let his fears ruin this for him. Besides, it’s not like he hasn’t moved on, he has gone on a few dates, but he’s never made it passed the third before someone ended it. At least he was trying.
He had gotten back into touch with some of his old classmates though. Most of the students grew apart after high school, some odd pairs worked together, others were dating, and some just couldn’t let go. Midoriya wasn’t one of these people, and he had severed all ties after what happened, he felt so betrayed.
After he walked in on Bakugo, and who he later learned was a bartender from two blocks over, he went straight to Kirishima, Mina, and Denki, who he had grown close to and fond of during his time with Bakugo. He went to them crying, and he started to tell them all that had happened when he got home, but he quickly realized they already knew. They knew, and they didn’t tell him. Kirishima started to explain, telling him that Bakugo was going to call it off and be a better boyfriend, but he never did, and they were going to tell him after a week. That just hurt more. So, he left.
Midoriya went out on his own, and he rented a small apartment. He befriended his new landlord, found a new barber, fell in love with a new coffee shop, and made some new friends. He was reserved at first, but he would always be Izuku Midoriya, and people would always think he was the nicest person alive. He started out by befriending his neighbor, who just so append to be another friend of his UA days, Shinso Hitoshi.
It was surprising to them both, but Shinso invited him out to dinner with some of his friends after a few more meetings in their shared hallway. Midoriya accepted, and he made friends with some other heroes and side-kicks that Shinso worked with, Midoriya warmed up to all of them, and it wasn’t long until the large group all hung out together every Friday at either Shinso or Izukus apartment.
And, after six months, Shinso asked Izuku out on a date. And, after six months of getting over Bakugo, Izuku said yes. The first date was simple, they went to a movie that Izuku had mentioned during one of their Friday night game sprees. The second date was even better, they went to a thrift shop, and they both bought a book and cd for the other, and then they exchanged, went home, and listened to their music while they read their books. Their third date was amazing. Shinso had transformed the rooftop into a picnic area, it was lit up with lights, there was a fire in the fire-pit, there was a blanket on the floor, and a large blanket for them to sit under, there was throw pillows, and most importantly, there was a basket of Izukus favorite home-cooked meal. It truly was magical. And then, somehow, the pattern broke. They went on a fourth date. They went to a firework show in town, and they had the time of their lives.
Now, they were both getting ready to go to their high-school reunion. To say Shinso was worried about his boyfriend was an understatement. He knew that right now, he only had a little piece of Midoriya’s heart. The other parts? They belonged to a man who shattered him, heart and soul. The other parts belonged to Bakugo. Shinso wasn’t going to lie, he was a little insecure. Before they started dating, Midoriya knocked on his door at two am, crying and wrapped up in a blanket. He was a mess, so Shinso took him in. They sat on his couch, drinking tea while Midoriya cried his heart out. He told Shinso what happened, and how Bakugo hurt him so much, but he still loved him.
Shinso fell for Midoriya the moment he saw his freckled face again. And, his heart broke when he realized that Izuku loved another, and it broke a little more every time he went on a date with a new guy. But, it hurt, even more, when he came crying to Shinso late at night, sobbing out Bakugo’s name.
He was insecure, and sometimes he wondered if Bakugo came to him and apologized, if he came over and asked if Izuku would take him back, he wondered if Midoriya would go to him. He would be naive to think that Izuku loved him as much ad Shinso loved him, he knew better. When Izuku slept over at his place, he still heard him whimper out Bakugo’s name at nights when he didn’t wake up, and it hurt so fucking much.
But, no matter how much it hurt, it was him that made Izuku smile, made him blush, it was him that Izuku kissed goodnight, who he woke up to, it was him that Izuku went on dates with, it was him that Izuku held on to, it was him, and it wasn’t Bakugo. He put on his jacket, and he sighed at his lame excuss at a tie. He was never taught how to properly tie one, enter him embarrassingly walking into Izuku’s apartment to ask him to help. Izuku laughed at him but complied and tied it for him.
“Good god, you’re adorable,” Shinso said breathlessly, as Izuku looked up at him after finishing his tie. Izuku turned into a spluttering mess whenever Shinso complimented him, especially if there was no prompting.
“Hi-Hitoshi…” He whined, before turning away to try and hide his blushing face by looking away.
“Oh yeah. Before I forget,” Shinso took a green rose out of his jacket, and put it behind Izukus ear, "I saw this, and I thought of you.“
Once they were both ready, the got into Shinso’s car; and they started to drive to the school for the first time in a long while.
"So, are you worried about seeing him again?” Hitshoi asked, keeping his eyes glued to the rode. The cool air that poured in through the vents nipped at Izuku’s skin as he thought about how familiar the feeling in his stomach felt.
“I don’t even want to think about it,” Midoriya hates how he had let Katsuki control him he like did, but mostly he hates how he didn’t notice sooner. It all became so clear when he found out, hindsight is 20/20 after all. All the ignored phone calls, all the late nights, why he was so adamant about them not sharing an apartment in the beginning, it all made so much sense, Izuku felt like a fool for not noticing.
A hand squeezing his pulled him from his mind. Shinso kept his eyes on the road, but he took his right hand of the wheel to try and comfort his boyfriend. It might have been seen as a small effort at comforting him, but Izuku and he loved holding hands. Afterall, Katsuki would never let him hold his hand in public unless someone was flirting with him. Shinso, however, loved holding hands while they walked. Especially if they were in large crowds, one of them would wrap their own pinky around the others. It was a small, nice way to show affection for each other.
And, that’s how they entered the school. They reminisced about their high school days, and the passed through their old classrooms, it felt so nice to think back on all the memories. Izuku laughed when they reached the classroom 1-A. Shinso looked at with questioningly, but he had a smile nonetheless.
“This is where we first met, remember?”
Hitoshi groaned, he had been such an awkward teen, he was reveling in stress and depression, and he really didn’t think he was as rude as he actually was in high school.
“You don’t have to remind me,” he had playfully snapped at his boyfriend.
“We had a lot of fun in this room,” he said, sighing contently at the rush of memories which entered his thoughts.
Midoriya just snorted and continued their way down the halls until they reached the large gym/workout room that had been decked out at a party.
Hitoshi grabbed a hold of his sleeve before they entered, “Hey, take a second. I’m here, okay? So there’s no need to worry.”
Izuku held on tight to his boyfriend’s hand, and he took in several deep and long breaths. He squeezed lightly, and Midoriya smiled reassuringly.
“With you, I can do anything,”
Shinso smiled at how confident Izuku was in him, and he pulled him by his hand so their chests were against one another. They both grinned into the kiss, happiness surrounded them.
“Ready?” Shinso asked as they both grabbed a hold of one of the doors.
“As I’ll ever be,”
They swung the door open, and what they saw was, more or less, what they were expecting. It was dimly lighted, but not so much as to hinder vision. There were tables scattered around, and the music was light and classy. Teachers and students were all in mixed groups, the entire class was gathered together, and they all seemed to be having a good time. Some were sitting, others were dancing already, and a few had gotten a jump-start at the bar.
Shinso had been flagged down by his old friends in 1-b, but he promised he’d be back in a minute. Izuku didn’t have to worry, he still had some friends from UA, even though they hadn’t talked for years, it just gave them more to catch up on!
Midoriya looked around, and his eyes finally locked down on Uraraka and Iida, who was standing next to the buffet table, having a pleasant conversation and eating.
He had made his way over, and they easily fell back into old habits. They joked around, and it was like they were back in high school.
“So Uraraka, I noticed the rock on your finger,” Midoriya pointed out, and she blushed and looked away.
“Yeah,” she trailed off. “Tsu and I got really close after graduation, our agencies were in the same district, so we bumped into each other often,” she said, blushing like her life depended on it.
“Well, what about you? Who are you with, Deku?” Se asked, suddenly flustered and defensive.
“I uhh,” he scratched the back of his head, “I’m actually in a pretty serious relationship myself?”
“Oh? Anyone, we know?” Iida asked, curious as to who gained the affection of the number one hero.
“Actually, it’s-”
“Pretty serious relationship, are we?” a deep-voiced asked, as a man placed his chin on the crook of Midoriya’s neck. Izuku had tensed, but he relaxed as soon as the man spoke.
“Hitoshi?!” Uraraka and Iida shouted, startled by the revelation.
“Yeah, we’ve been together for around a year and a half,” Shinso answered, not completely shocked by his old classmate’s response.
“And you never thought to tell me?” Uraraka asked, hitting Izuku on the shoulder.
“Well, we kinda cut off all connections with our classmates awhile ago- don’t take it personally,”
She huffed but accepted it as an answer.
“Speaking of,” Iida said, gaining attention from their tiny group, “I have only heard half-thought rumors and speculations, and I believe none of it completely. Can I hear in your words, what happened two years ago?”
Hitoshi stood up rigidly, and he wrapped his arms protectively around his boyfriend. “You don’t have to answer-”
“It’s fine Tosh’,” Izuku said, patting his boyfriend’s arm, “It’s really simple Iida. I was dating Bakugo, he fell out of love with me, and we broke up.”
“I see,” the blue-haired man said, “though I can’t help but wonder how much of that is true, and how much is censored and coated in sugar.”
“Hey, babe?” Hitoshi said, gaining Midoriya’s attention. “Can you go get us some drinks, I have a feeling we’re going to need them soon,”
It would take a blind man who had lost his hearing to miss Hitoshi’s anger. Midoriya’s past relationships have always been a sore spot for Shinso. A mixture of second-hand anger in addition to his own insecurities ate at him whenever he heard the blond-haired man’s name. He was right, if there was no alcohol in his system for another minute he was sure to explode.
Having sensed this, Midoriya smiled softly and went to the bar. He was never one for drinking, but a glass or two might help to soften the edge of tonight. The tension was high, and he hadn’t even seen he-who-must-not-be-named yet.
“Hey, can I have a stinger on the rocks and a snakebite up?” While he wasn’t a drinker, Izuku’s new crowd loved to go out every Friday night, and with their different backgrounds he was shown many different orders- but a particular friend of Britain had introduced him to the snakebite, and the cider -alcohol mix always tasted amazing.
“Sure thing,” the bartender said, as he turned to make his drinks. While he didn’t recognize him right off the bat, it wasn’t all that difficult to identify the dark-haired man as Kaibara Sen, a student he had only seen once or twice, but he made quite the impression.
“How long have you been bartending Kaibara-san?”
He chuckled a little and shook his head, “Here I thought you didn’t recognize me. I’ve been doing it professionally for a little over a year now- couldn’t refuse UA a favor after all they did to help me out now could I?”
“Yeah,” Midoriya leaned onto the bar, “We all owe them a debt or two.”
“After all the shit you put me through, I’d say you better make it three,” A gruff voice rang through his ears, and it sounded so close to being familiar- he just couldn’t place it.
“Aizawa-Sensai?” The name hit him like a ton of bricks.
The black-haired man winced before stumbling a little closer to the bar. “You’re not a kid anymore, you can drop the honorific,”
“Right,” he blushed lightly, “sorry about that,”
“So Midoriya,” Aizawa signaled for a beer, “you and Bakugo still at each other’s throats?”
The teacher had noticed Kaibara’s posture stiffen the moment his previous student’s name fell past his lips. The teacher sent him a curious look before giving Midoriya his attention. Had he hit a sore spot? He knew they never got along, but that was just a childish rivalry, right? There was no way his two students were as immature as All might and Endeavor.
“Babe, what’s taking so long?”
Midoriya let out a sigh of relief as his boyfriend appeared to rescue him. “Sorry love, Kaibara-san isn’t as good as a bartender as he makes himself out to be,” he teased lightly, before going back to his teacher.
“Sorry Aizawa-San, but I’ve got to get back to the rest of my group- I have to make sure Iida doesn’t stop Uraraka from spiking the punch. It was nice to catch up with you!” His wrist was seized by Shinso as soon as he got a hold of their drinks.
“What was that about?” The gruff man asked, waiting for his beer that as stored in a cooler.
Kaibara shook his head lightly, “After the rest of the old general studies group caught wind of the situation, we all just assumed the teachers heard too. I guess it makes sense that you were all left out of the loop,” He handed Aizawa his drink.
The man quirked an eyebrow, silently asking for him to go on.
“Midoriya and Bakugo were in a relationship. They were doing great up until about a year or so ago. He came home and found Bakugo with someone on their sofa. Stories say it was another student, but I’m not too sure. Wouldn’t be surprised though- with the way Midoriya avoided everyone like the black plague up until today,”
“Apparently not everyone,” Aizawa chimed in, noting how close his prodigy was to Midoriya.
“Oh, you mean Midoriya and Hitoshi?” He chuckled, “Yeah, they/ve been dating ever since the breakup. I heard they moved in together, but it didn’t come from a reliable source. What I do know for sure, is that they are both head-over-heels for each other, like rose-petals and chariot love. The kind of thing where they would say ‘If all the world was to be burned by morning, the flames would lack the heat of my heart beating for you,’ throw-up-you-lunch kinda love,”
“You seem to know quite a bit, Kaibara,” the tired man mused.
“What can I say?” He shrugged, “People love to talk to bartenders.”
Aizawa grumbled. as he walked away. He never pegged Bakugo as a cheater, but he wasn’t one for second-hand gossip either. He’ll wait and see what else he can dig up.
————————————————
The night haad gone surprisingly well! The Deku-squad was back together, and everyone seemed to catch on like a house on fire. Time flew by, and a slow dance had taken over the party. Without a run-in with the blast boy, it seemed like everything had fallen into place.
“Dance with me?” Shinso asked, lightly rubbing a circle on the back of Izuku’s hand.
“I would love to,”
The two swayed together, and they held each other close. Every now and then they would separate a little but only ever enough so that they could gaze into each other’s eyes. Izuku smiled so widely his eyes hurt, and Shinso couldn’t help but grin back. They were so in love, and they would never be able to get enough of each other.
Little did they know, they were being watched. Ruby red eyes stared at them from across the gym. Tracing their every movement, studying every syllable they said to each other, he made note of every time they touched each other. Kirishima stood by Bakugo all night.
While the blonde downed drink after drink, his red-haired friend couldn’t help but look on in sympathy. He saw first hand how this breakup shattered Katsuki and, no matter how much the blonde refused to admit it, having Midoriya in his life made him a better person- to himself and others.
Drink after drink, shot after shot, he did almost anything he could to numb the pain, but no matter what he did, it still hurt. Everything hurt. Whether he had the memories or not, it didn’t seem to matter. Izuku was gone, but he was still there.
His sent stayed in the apartment for months, and his things were still scattered about. His voice still answered the voicemail, and his jacket was still on the hook. Every part of him was there, but he wasn’t. His laugh didn’t echo around the walls, and his coffee was never made in the morning. The pancakes he made would never see their old pan, and his clean laundry would never be dumped on the couch to be folded. He was there in every sense of the word if time was stopped.
He slammed his final shot glass back down on the make-shift bar and sighed. “I’m going for a walk,”
“Katsuki, let me come with-”
“I need some air,” Kirishima was nice to have around, but he really needed his space.
Memories haunted him whether he was awake or asleep. Waking up with his love by his side, going to sleep with the love of his life, but sleeping with people who didn’t matter- people who will never matter. It hurt no know it was over, and it hurt to know it will never be fixed.
The door closed behind him after a few seconds, and he sensed someone behind him.
“Bakugo?” He winced at the name that fell from his past lover’s lips.
“Please,” he whispered, “please call me Kaa-chan,”
Izuku kicked the top of his foot at the ground, “I don’t think that’s gonna happened Bakugo,”
The blonde looked up to Midoriya, and he took in his appearance. He looked healthy, and his outfit was well put together. A flower was in his outside coat pocket, he could only guess where he had gotten it.
“I miss you,” He admitted, sighing at the relief that came with admitting it.
“Yeah, I guess it has been a while,”
The nonchalant response simply dug deeper into his heart, and it seemed that whenever Izzuku spoke, it just cut his deeper.
“God,” Bakugo pushed at the skin next to his eyes, “I’m such a fucking mess without you.”
“That’s not my problem, Bakugo. I know it sounds rude, but that honestly is just your own fault,”
He could feel his anger bubble up, and it seemed like it took nothing to push him over the edge.
“Why are you fine? How are you fine! Why are you pretending to be so perfectly fucking dandy, like everything’s all sunshine and fucking rainbows when it’s not!? You don’t need to pretend with me- I know you’re not okay.”
“I’m sorry to disappoint, Bakugo,” He said, walking back to the door. He stopped right after he passed the door, and he held it open, “but I really am 100 percent, completely and absolutely over you, and I’m doing just fine without you.”
When had this started? Where had he gone wrong? He would never know, but Bakugo believed that it started with something about a swan dive.
Valentine’s Day Troubles
A short Bakugo x reader drabble, maybe it could grow later on but for now... We’ll leave it here? Please request things, I’m so bored

It shouldn’t hurt. He was used to having friends with him now, Kirishima was always there to lend a helping hand, and Denki had his helpful moments- mostly by lowering tension through his stupidity- but that didn’t mean he needed them. They were just... there.
But if that’s the truth, why did it hurt to see them having so much fun without him? Bakugou scrolled further down the Instagram feed he was trying to distract himself with, but the endless photo’s of his friends at Lovely Little Diner- a little restaurant that class 1-A frequents for most of their events- just reminded him of what he was trying to forget.
He scoffed and pushed his head further into the mattress. It’s not their fault, he looked back at the pictures, they invited me too. At the time, rejecting the offer didn’t seem like such a stupid idea. Now though, lying alone in his bedroom, he wishes he had said yes when Mina proposed the idea.
Bakugo had shot down the invite simply because he didn’t want to spend the day with his idiot’s, he was planning on going on a date. Bakugo had made reservations and he bought flowers- he was so sure she would say yes... but then Y/n agreed to go with them.
And now he had to lie alone and not be jealous, even though the photos feature her dancing with Todoroki. Even though the group photo highlights Kirishima’s arm around her and not his own. Even though Bakugo has to see her press a kiss to Deku’s cheek on her story. He had to deal with it, even though it hurt his heart so much.
He couldn’t let it get to him, even though the only girl he has ever wanted was dangling off the arms of his best friends and worst enemies. Bakugo throws the phone down next to his leg and closes his eyes. Even though he can’t be bothered to turn off the lights, Bakugo can hope sleep will latch onto him anyway.
Just as his mind starts to wander away from him, soft ping echos through his small dorm room. Having gained his full attention, Bakugo grabs for it and sits back up.
My Dumbass💖: Hey Katsu! Hope you’re having a good ♥-day, miss you loser 😜 see you tomorrow!!
He scoffed and smiled, before rolling his eyes. She was thinking about him, even though she was with all her friends... Yeah, he was really in love with her.
Damn, Valentines day really sucks.

They say that the heart was made to be broken. It was stuffed down your throat in every bad poem you’d had read, in every story that never knew when enough was enough, it was a bitter pill that was overused. And yet, it had slowly started to make sense.
As you laid down in bed with Katsuki by your side, you could feel ice start to form over your heart. It was like frost over a window, and it took less than an hour for the cold to be all you could think of. Why am I so cold, when I used to burn for you?
You’d spoken to Fumikage again the night prior, and it was almost like your mouth became a faucet, and the droplets of words turned to a steady stream which couldn’t be shut off.
He had you inside one of his largely oversized sweatshirts, and you couldn’t have stopped yourself from leaning deeply into his heat.
“You’re so warm,” you’d whispered, leaning into his shirt-covered chest. It vibrated heartily as he chuckled. You’d gotten used to each other’s presence, and, while it had taken a long time, things were so comfortable the first names just seemed to flow. After all, how long can you stay acquaintances with someone you’ve shared a bed with?
“You know you’d be a lot warmer if you dressed for the weather,” he’d whispered; it hadn’t taken long for Tokoyami to figure out that his new midnight friend was shocked by loud noises. He had many theories as to why, but he never had enough evidence to feel comfortable asking you about them.
“Why would I do that if I have a personal furnace with me?”
“Hah! Sometimes I think that’s the only reason you keep me around,” he teased her rarely, but when he did it would catch you so off guard that you would have trouble getting serious again.
“No- I keep you around because you’re the only person I think I can really talk to,” you had looked up at the stars, oblivious to the stares he’d leveled on the back of your head.
If only he could tell you how he felt, he would cherish you like the muse he knew you truly were- he was so much better than the evil spirit you associated yourself with. But, for now, he would have to disguise his compliments as well as he could with friendship.
“You were breathtaking during your presentation today,”
“Oh! Uh- thank you, Fumi! That means a lot coming from you,” a smile had taken over your face, and it was as bright as the stars you oh-so admired.
Tokoyami loved it when you smiled. He brought his arms around both of your bodies, and he pressed them closer together, as he rested his forehead on the top of your head, leaning slightly to the side as to not hit you with his beak.
“Aww,” you cooed at him and nuzzled closer to his chest, “someone’s feeling awfully brazen tonight.”
“No, not brazen. Just cold,” He lied. He hated lying, but he couldn’t exactly tell you the truth now, could he? What would he say? ‘I know you’re in a relationship, but I think I’ve fallen so deeply in love with you that if you told me the sky was green, I’d believe you without a second thought, and I’m worried you don’t know how much power you hold over me,’
You would freak out, and he’d never be able to hold you again. You would stretch your wings and fly away, as you were already hovering just out of reach. He knew it was wrong, it’s immoral to covet another person’s treasures, but when they treat them like paper-weights, is it truly wrong to try and save them?
He kissed the top of your head, “You’re too good for anyone,”
“Are you anyone?”
“I don’t know, am I anyone to you?”
“This seems like a dangerous game,” you had sighed and turned around to face him. You knew that the moment you looked into his poisonous eyes you’d be hooked. His eyes wouldn’t let you go without a struggle.
“You’ve never been one to walk on the path of easy decisions and smooth pavement,” he challenged you, daring you- begging you to say something, anything to prove he stood a chance.
“I don’t know. I feel like I’m taking the easy route in almost anything I do nowadays,”
He grabbed your hands and held them in his own, “You’re hurting, it’s natural to shield yourself from anything that could harm you further,”
You were rarely left speechless, but with his intoxicating words and deadly eyes, it was hard to form a response worth saying.
“I’m starting to think you’re a bad influence,” You whispered, and you put your noses together.
“Believe me, that was never my attention,” he tilted his head lightly, and he was so close you could feel his breath on your lips; you were sure he felt the same.
You looked from his beak to his eyes. If he had lips you doubt you could have have been able to resist kissing him, but you was given the opportunity to second-guess yourself.
His crystal eyes shined through the clouds, like the beacon on the pier, they always seemed to beckon you closer. They dared you to sail towards them, it was almost like they held the secret to the world.
“I can’t kiss you, Fumi,” you whispered. You eyes had clenched shut, as you tried to stop the tears that were beginning to show themselves. You can’t do this, this isn’t you.
“Why not?” He asked, his heart was falling apart, and it felt like he was being burned.
“I can’t leave Katsuki, he’s done nothing wrong,”
“He’s done nothing right,” he interjected as soon as you finished talking. “You shouldn’t stay with someone who makes you doubt your worth,”
Your phone rang from inside you dorm. You ducked under his sweatshirt and sighed.
“That’s him, isn’t it?” He asked. He wasn’t mad, just very frustrated.
“I think…” You looked away from him, “You should go to your room.”
You left him on your balcony, and you answered your boyfriend. He watched as you shut the door, you didn’t lock it. Did she want me to ignore what she said and go in? Was this a test? Or did she really want me to leave?
“Dammit!” He huffed before going up to his room. Why did he have what he wanted, what he deserved? Bakugo couldn’t keep you, does he not see how sad you are with him? A real man would leave on his own.
That night, four people cried themselves to sleep. A prince who lost his princess before he even had the chance to pull out his sword, a storm that destroyed the peace-wrecking everything it touched, a lighthouse that only wanted to guide the lost back home, and a white dove that couldn’t stretch its wings- forever trapped in her cage.
——————————————–
Bakugo’s hand rested on your waist as he slept. You had been watching a movie before he passed out, and he was un-budging. It always shocked you, how he used to keep you so warm.
He would hold you in private, as soon as you had a moment alone he would squeeze you tight like he never wanted to let go. It was such a powerful hug, that it almost hurt to let go. You had loved those hugs.
Now there were no hugs, no stolen moments. Now he watched you freeze hogging all his warmth for himself.
Could it be… that he gives his warmth to somebody else? No- you can’t think like that, Bakugo’s not a heartless cheater. He’s not you after all.
But was it cheating? Was it wrong? When Bakugo destroys everything you has created, how can you not learn to lean on the eyes that watch over you?
A soft groan snatched your attention. You looked over to the blonde boy, and he seemed to be stirring in his sleep. You quickly relaxed your body and shut your eyes.
He peered through his eyelids and reached out, running his fingers up your hip and the side of her torso and back down following the natural bend.
“Babe, I’ve got to go,” he voice was so smooth, he was so close to having complete control over you, and he would never know.
You hummed in response and stretched reaching your arms up. “Do you have to?” It came out as a whisper, and it was so soft that Bakguo’s heart fluttered hearing it.
“It’s past curfew,” He responded, getting out of bed and grabbing his school bag and jacket, which had been tossed on the floor when they were prepping for the movie.
It’s now or never, girl! You’ll never get this chance again!
“Katsuki?” You called out, almost regretting it when you locked eyes with him.
“Hm? What?”
“I uhhhh,” Don’t lose your nerve, “I want to go on a date tomorrow!”
“Sure,” He offered, has he always been so casual?
“Really?” It was hard to hide the surprise and disbelief in your voice, but your not entirely sure what you were expecting.
“Yeah, of course. Why not?” He threw back, as he walked to the door. “Where do you want me to take you?”
“Somewhere sweet. I’d like to be able to hold your hand, so we could take the train across the region?”
“Anything for you. Goodnight babe, be ready by 6 tomorrow, I’ll see you then,”
“I’ll see you then,”
Once he had shut the door, you started squealing in delight. You ran through outfits in your head, and a bright smile never left your face. You can’t remember exactly how long it had been since he had been taken out on a date, but it had been way too long.
Rejecting the offers that other boys had given you wasn’t something you had anticipated- you’d never thought that highly about yourself.
However, you grew to realize that class 1A truly did care about you, or at least they acted like it. It was strange to think people seek out your company, but the knocks on your door became a constant in your life, you became used to people coming to talk to you late into the night.
You had grown accustomed to knocks on your door, but recently you haven’t been answering them. You’re not doing it consciously, but your late-night-chats with Tokoyami have taken you outside far more often, and you can’t hear the door from there.
With the memories of the night before still present in your mind, you went and stood outside. You were out there for five minutes, and you grabbed a hold of yourself once again. You hadn’t felt cold outside for a long time- Tokoyami always kept you warm.
Is he not coming? Did I ruin my chance to be near him? Can I even blame him for not wanting to be with me?
Though it might be harsh- as all things were when you were talking about yourself- you looked out to the stars, and you couldn’t pinpoint when things became so messed up; it was so sudden, or maybe it was just like that the whole time.
But one thing was different, Fumikage was different. He was always there for you, he would listen to you- keep you warm. He was so different than what you was used to, and you would be lying if she said that she didn’t love it.
He was so warm and so present. It never felt like he was shying away from you without reason, and you learned to bask in the light he shined on you, but there are two sides to every coin, and this was no exception. You could never get too used to him, because at the end of every day, you are with Bakugo, and the cycle continued.
You rested your head on your palm and sighed. Why couldn’t something go right? And just when all apparent hope was lost-
“You know if I’m going to have to stop spending time with you at night, you’re going to have to invest in a sweatshirt,”
And you couldn’t bring yourself not to smile. And Fumikage couldn’t bring himself to look at you.
“If you could have anything,” you whispered, “If the world was your oyster and you could do anything,” tears started to fill her eyes, “what would you do?”
He paused- the thought had never crossed Tokoyami’s mind. Why was she so strict in how she used her abilities?
“If every time you had said out loud ‘I wish-’ and whatever followed came true, how different would your life be?”
You had never been so serious with your words- and it caught him far off guard. Millions of thoughts ran through his head, and he couldn’t bring himself to say any of them.
“What is it that you wish, princess?” He finally approached you, grabbing your elbows and looking deep into your eyes.
“I can’t say it,”
“Why not?”
“Because,” your heart broke just a little more, “If I say it out loud, and it’s not already true- than I will have ruined one of the most important moments of my life,”
He paused and bit his tongue, “I hope my love is what you wish; because, you possess it completely,”
“I’m dating Bakugo,” you whispered soft enough that he almost didn’t hear it.
“And yet you love me,”
“Who could love a cheater?”
“We haven’t even performed the most innocent act of romance, how could you have been unfaithful?”
“Cheating with the heart will always hurt more than cheating with the body- I've betrayed more than our relationship I took advantage of his trust.”
“Than break up with him, so I won’t make a cheater out of you,”
“You say that like it’s easy,” and to him, it was the easiest thing- he loved you.
“It will be,”
“He loves me,”
“Then where is he?” Yes, it was a low-blow, and Tokoyami knew it. You had told him on many occasions that you wished her boyfriend would stand outside with her in the cold, but Bakugo thought it was stupid and a waste of time. He used to, he’d even met you on one of your sky-watching sessions. It hurt to think that he would use their past conversations against you, but where was he wrong?
“He’s probably asleep,”
“Then you should sleep, so that you may do one last thing as a couple before he loses the title,” The woman he was completely in love with just told him he has a chance, and he will never forgive himself if he ruins this.
“That’s harsh,”
“If love be harsh with you, be harsh with love,”
“Did you just misquote Shakespeare at me?” You couldn’t stifle the small laugh that escaped your lips. Fumikage always had a way to make you smile at the most peculiar of times, and trust him to throw the charged tension for a loop.
“Perhaps I did,” He teased you lightly, and shook his head.
“If I broke up with him, if tomorrow night I was out here by myself, and every other night from now to eternity, would you keep your warmth for yourself? Would you get sick of me? I’m so fucked up, I don’t even know what a secure attachment style is. How long am I going to hurt like this?”
Tears had regathered in your eyes, and your lips had fallen to quiver. Your body shook, and it would never be known if it was from the cold in the air or the cold in your heart.
“Quote the raven,”
“Hah,” you wiped your tears with the palms of your hands, “You read poetry?”
“Only the good kind,” he thought back, and he knew their first encounter like the back of his hand. Had your lips been as prominent back then as they did now? Were you crying then too?
Your eyes flickered between his crimson eyes, as you searched for a sign, anything that told you that he wanted this too. He stepped closer, and his breath hitched. Was this finally happening?
They were an inch away from each other, and you drew your lip between your teeth, as Fumikage put his forehead on yours.
He murmured your name.
You hummed in acknowledgment, and you locked eyes.
“I love you,” he took a breath in before lacing his fingers into your hair, and he pulled you a little closer, and you kissed. Your shared heat shielded you from the painful cold that was biting at your skin. Time seemed to stop as you basked in each other’s warmth.
Even as his eyes were closed, your crimson lighthouse had finally done their job, you were home. You were hidden by the dark as night cloaked the world. And, in your own little bubble, you missed your ringing phone. And, in their own little bubble, you never heard the storm knocking on your door.
And so, as the clouds give way and the thunder travels further and further away, the ship had managed its way to the lighthouse. And the princess had been freed from her tower while the prince laid in bed, broken and alone. And the pretty little dove was saved by a raven, and together they spread their wings and flew away.
And, with all things considered, can you really blame a person for getting involved, if it was love? Even if they knew someone could get hurt? Even if the dove is already in a cage, is it really so wrong to want to fly alongside her?
You held Tokoyami close that night, and you stayed together until early morning. Until the birds began to chirp and the owls had fallen asleep, and you finally realized that being in a relationship doesn’t have to hurt to be real.
