Harrow the Ninth spoilers below

Harrow watching "The Sleeper" fight Nonius and saying how Gideon would have loved to see this, how it's an incredible fight, how this woman must have been treasured as a champion of her people... and not knowing HOW desperately Gideon woukd have wanted to see this fight. HOW vastly important this fight with this woman is.

Harrow not knowing this is Gideon's mother. Harrow not knowing this amazing fighter of a woman was the highly respected leader of Blood of Eden. Harrow not knowing this woman attempted to doom her House and her Lord by making Gideon, intending to use Gideon, Harrow not knowing this woman called Gideon "bomb."

It's amazing the things the characters in this book witness or experience and don't even know how intensely it would affect another character they know.

If Gideon had been there, Gideon would've been moved to tears. She would have felt Too Many Things and possibly broken down, especially if she had been there after hearing the conversation in John's room with Wake and then Mercy and Augustine. Gideon was there for thay conversation, the arguably mote important thing for her to hear and know, but imagine if Gideon had also seen Wake fight like this. If she could have that full scope of who ehr mother truly was, and how similar they were.

It's funny how much of Gideon we can see in Wake and John, and therefore how much if them she reflects without ever having met either of them until after she was dead. Truly how much of Gideon is nature and not nurture, or that how much of her nature was exacerbated by her nurture (or lack thereof).

Funny to me how Harrow and Gideon keep learning things about each other without realizing it or without spending time together because they've been separated again. Funny to me how much of their experiences apart only increase their fondness and pining and understanding for each other.

And now I gotta go lie down, thinking about Gideon and her origins and Harrow knowing things Gideon can't and vice versa and Gideon and Harrow in general

If you were going to make a character that was the soul of planet earth in a human body you might think to make her motherly. Wise. Forgiving. Mother Earth cares for us, she provides, right? But Tamsyn Muir wrote Nona the Ninth and said YES planet earth is loving but also she is SO SO ANGRY and HURTING. And actually she cannot care for others right now she needs to be cared FOR.

Also she wants to eat pencils and she thinks flowers are sexy.

This is the most beautiful thing I have seen in such a long time. Everything about it is so perfect, I can't explain. I am crying instead. Nona, you may never know how much I love you, but if you were to see this I hope you could see in it how much OP loves you, and from that guess at the feelings of the world in general. You know like two months ago I reread GIDEON theninth to finally binge read the rest of The Locked Tomb series and frankly I’m not okay. From the Moment I put NONA down after completion I have been in mourning, take me back, let me relive this world and these characters let me laugh and sob my way through three of the best books I’ve ever had the pain and pleasure to read. And you sad fucks have been living like this for YEARS? Fuck how are y’all still kicking? This is exquisite pain, I’m in hell.

I kind of love that Kiriona's "came back wrong," is maybe just depression over harrow maybe being dead? "Get in line thou big slut," is vintage Gideon. Kiriona maybe just has a terminal case of Nonagesimitus

I've finished Nona the Ninth. Cried like a little bitch thank you. The people in this book just loved each other, strangely, deeply, truly, and I liked the first two books but this one made my heart flutter <3

[I can't stop thinking about how this was the first time that Harrow's body knew... genuine parental/friendly affection? Holding hands and hugs and braiding hair and dancing and forehead kisses. The body smiled and giggled freely. It pains me that Harrow was not in the body at all to feel it, but... You can't take loved away]
